Hello there! I am a long time paper scrapper, new to digi scrapping and LOVING it! I like the look of chalked edges on scrapbook pages but I don't know how to achieve that look with the digital scrapbooking. I am using PS7...for example, I have a blue page that I would like to chalk with brown on the edges giving it a "dirty" look for a day at the lake page.

Does anyone know if there is a brush or a technique that could help me achieve this look?

That chalked look is quite easy using the layer styles palette - you can use the inner glow feature in the layer styles palette - set the colour to what every colour you want - make the blend mode normal - play with the settings till you get a look that you like.

I tried the colored edge and glowing edge settings in the Adjust menu. I cannot locate the "inner glow" feature you mentioned, Lauren. Can you elaborate?

Thanks,

Lauren is referring to PS, Jewel, is that what you're using?

If it is, I think it's only availble in PS 6 or 7 and later versions.

Go to Layer> Layer Style> Inner Glow and play with the settings from there.

Hope you can figure it out!

you could also choose a brush with a chalk like texture, and use the burn tool in the toolbox to paint along the edges for a chalked look. If you need a color used the paint tool on a separate layer to paint, and play with the blend modes.
