Sometimes the hardest thing to work through in our lives is grief. We have lost someone, or something, very important to us and we don't know how to deal with it.
We feel as though heartache had moved into our lives to stay. We feel guilty when we arehappy. What kind of a person could ever be happy again after losing someone so special...
But scrapping is the best therapy of all...
We are creating something meaningful in our heartache
We are preserving the memories of someone forever
We are introducing our friends so they will remember too
And one day, when a great grandchild reads what we wrote, they will come to remember too...
So post your layouts and share your thoughts here... it is not really a challenge, just a gathering place...so we can visit, cherish and admire... and work through grief together.

this is a great thread to start! I am not a member of the grannies thread but I just lost my grandmother. It's been killing me inside. Every day, I feel like a have a big huge brick sitting on my chest. I've done a few layouts of her. I will post links here.

Here's one more I had forgotten about. It's funny how much scrapping these memories felt both happy and sad at the same time. Now to look back at these LOs, I can truly smile in my heart. TY for starting this thread. -c-

Great idea, Lynnie. I've relived the day my dad passed away over and over and over....I never got to say goodbye. I still cry and feel bitter every time I remember that day, and it's been 8 years this coming Christmas. I never scrapped anything I felt or still feel....maybe it's time.

Gail, it is definitely time. Just think, by scrapping what you need to say you will be creating something to help you remember the good things...

Here's another one - this isn't really scrapping my grief, it is scrapping my mother's. And there is great sadness in not having known him. All there is left can be fit into a small box - his journal, his diary and some letters and photographs. I'm including this here because it is important to remember those we love and make sure that other generations know them too...

Here's another layout of Chris. It is very soothing to scrap something so precious, memories that might go away if they aren't scrapped or written down or recorded...

Fantastic thread
I have scrapped about my other halves mom on a recent page along with my mum but I think I will do a few just of her. I find it hard to scrap what happened in her last year as it was so tough on everyone around her. Maybe one day I will be able to.

I hadn't scrapped in many years...since way before "acid-free" and digital, until I realized there was NO ONE left alive who remembered my precious grandpa. My parents are gone, there were no cousins, and my brother was only 6 months old but I was 13 when Grandpa died. My grandmother lived many more years and even my children remember her, but Grandpa...well our heritage cannot die like that.
So I started with photos and stories of my dear grandpa...as if I was talking to my children. It will all be in one scrapbook so the whole story, all the little parts, will be there for generations to come. It seems like I grieve for him all by myself.
Some of you already know that the daughter of my cousin (raised as my twin) was recently killed leaving a grieving husband, 2 small children and a broken-hearted father, sisters, and brother. One of her dearest friends grieved by writing a lovely piece of music. I scrapped.

Here is a collage that I made when my niece passed in June. I was so heart sick and felt that I needed to do something, so I turned to my PC and made this of her.
Thank You so much for starting this thread!
