Hi there,
I'd like to add stitches (preferably zig zag, but straight will do) on my paper .

I have seen several tutorials on other sites but could not do it.

Can someone help and tell me how to do that easily on PS CS please ?

Thanks for your help

Isa

Well often a kit will include stitching but the easiest way is with a brush- here is a tutorial I wrote on stitching (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/university/tutorials/ps_stitching.shtml)

Oh, perfect tutorial for this. I love this method in PS. Let us know how it works for you

In PSE, I just make a few stitches manually and then duplicate them many times. A pain to do in any shape but a straight line, but it works :)

Anyone have any great ways to get the stitching on a curve in PSE?

I have created my brush, did the work path bit etc... the stitches are on my paper (not perfect but now I know how to change them)
BUT my stitches should go along the paper, i.e, be horizontal (at the top and bottom) and vertical on the sides. But they are all horizontal.

How can I fix that ?

other question : can I change the color of the stitch ? they are black for the time being...

thanks again for your help

You need to make sure you have selected direction in the control drop down box under angle jitter - - this is in the shape dynamics section of the brushes palette

Have you done Brush Palette tutorial yet?
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/university/tutorials/ps_brushpalette_ep.shtml

The Direction control Lauren mentioned is in Figure 9, the last one. That'll fix it for you :)

How did it go otherwise? You like the way it looks?

Thanks for your help, will let you know how I get on...

sorry to hijack the thread w/ a super simple question, but I think I posted in the wrong board. Anyway, how do I get through figure 1? I can't seem to figure out how to get the curved edges on a straight line for the stitching tutorial. I have PS CS.

TIA! Jackie

Hi, no hijacking! This is the right forum for tutorial questions.

FOr the basic stitching shape, just use your brush tool to create that thingy :) Brush a straight line holding Shift key, then brush two tiny lines at each end.

For my stitching, I use just a straight line, slightly at an angle. I stared at my leather couch stitching to get the right idea. It's sort of like this

but not tilted nearly so much: the ends just touch. Any basic straight line will work.

Have fun, and let us know if you have any other questions on it!
