Hi All,
I'm trying to draw with my tablet in PSE, but I can't get it to draw in a straight, solid line. I can get a solid line with my mouse, but my tablet keeps creating dotted lines. Can anyone help me? I'm using a graphire tablet with PSE 5. If I have to use PSCS in order to do a straight, non-rounded, non-spaced drawing, please let me know.
Thanks,
Jennifer

Hi Jennifer - check your table program. I have a Wacom Graphire 4. Inside the software you can set the "feeling" of the pen. I can set the eraser to have a harder or softer touch as well as the pen tip. I would think you should have full functionality with your tablet using PSE. -c-

I'm using PSE5 with a graphire tablet Jennifer and I've never had any problems (other than that I can't draw a straight line anyway!!!).
Could it be to do with "pen pressure"? I read that turning it off when you start can be helpful and I don't think I ever turned it back on. :) You can turn it on and off within PSE when you've got whatever drawing tool you're using active.
Which "tool" are you using when you have problems?

I'm using the brush tool. I've figured out how to get it to be all solid with the default brushes, but I can't do it with any other brushes. And I too cannot draw in a straight line! LOL
I'll have a whole lot more to learn when I get CS4...

I presume you've looked at the "spacing" of the particular brush you're using?

I'm also thinking it is a pressure/spacing issue. As for drawing an absolutely straight line, if you hold down your shift key and stroke that will draw a straight line - either horizontal or vertical.

I can draw solid with the default brushes as the spacing option is available with those, but its not available with some other brushes like the assorted brushes. I figured out the straight line thing. wonderful trick!

Which version of PSE do you have? I have PSE5, and the spacing option is available on all my brushes under "More Options" on the right side. Also you might check in the "Tablet Options" and make sure opacity is not checked. If your pen pressure is on, then it might be varying the opacity of the line depending on how hard you press.
