Haven't heard that much since moving back to Washington state, but my DDs sure used it before when we lived in Utah. :wave::yippee:

when I flew to CA to see my mom, I just put my EHD in my lappie bag and not a problem. I have done this several times now. I didn't even have to take it out, the only thing they wanted out was the lappie. One thing for anyone looking for a bag. I would so recommend getting a backpack type one, especially if you are going to be hauling it through the airport and w/ an EHD, cuz those suckers get HEAVY. Oh another thing that I found works really well, since they will only allow 2 carry on items per person, and there is NO WAY that I am going to pack my camera OR my lappie in my luggage. I pack my purse, minus my wallet (so just all the junk that we all carry around in our purses and can't live without) into my checked bag. Then I put my wallet in my laptop bag and that is one carry on and my camera is the other. Works well. :D

I can see putting the EHD in the lappie bag, camera around my neck (no equipment), and a BIG tote bag...purse inside the tote. I won't check bags for 2 days. It all goes on a small, folding luggage cart. I will be tackling Orlando Airport and I know enough not to be carrying ANYTHING through that mess, the monorail, and vastness.

Sothwest had a 50% off sale to SLC that expired on the 18th...keep checking Sothwest, they seem to have some good sales...I'm flying out of Oakland, also
Amtrak is $136.00 RT from Martinez Ca, but it's a 17 hour ride!!

Flying is about $10 less than train and oh, so much faster. So I am flapping my wings or using my broom (much too far for a vacuum cord).

I heard on the news last night that if fares go down before your flight, you can request and get a reduction in the fare you paid a higher price for. Not all airlines do that but SW is one of the ones that does.

I heard on the news last night that if fares go down before your flight, you can request and get a reduction in the fare you paid a higher price for. Not all airlines do that but SW is one of the ones that does.

Check the fares pooh, sometimes you can get last minute trips on the cheap. I just checked Delta (which is my only choice) and the fare has come down to $249 RT! It was $411 last I checked...It's looking more promising every second that I'll be able to come! :yahoo:

I have a flat portable external that I bought just for travel. So far it's been on a couple of plane trips with no problem.

Me, too!!! :D Just popping in to say a belated "Merry Christmas" and an early "Happy New Year"! I've been in my fave RV park since a week before Christmas visiting my DGD and her parents, and will be leaving on the 31st (early in the day) to get back home for New Years Eve. Taking lots of pics to scrap--my NY's resolution this year is to get back into scrapping and staying in touch here at DSP.

Ok...cool in any case. I will still need a room Friday night, Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights.

I will only be in Florida for a week before leaving for SLC. I wonder if my blood will have thinned out in that time. Even just loosing 30 lbs, I notice the cold a lot more this winter than when I was heavier. Fat must act as insulation. I can do jeans and a hoodie with a light-weight storm jacket. I really am hoping we can get a photo-walk around the city into the schedule but I am NOT bringing boots. I don't want to haul them to FL or on the plane.

Guess I will have to pack a bag to check after all.

Maybe...just Maybe... I might be able to attend! A lot depends on hubby's schedule but it looks like his plans might be canceled for that time period which would allow me the freedom to travel! Can I at least get my name on the list and I would need a room too! I have never been to a crop before so this is all new to me. I need someone to hold my hand and show me the ropes! LOL
I'm coming from the east coast (NC) anyone else traveling from this direction?? A traveling partner would be nice but not necessary. I am watching Southwest for a good airfare too!

I haven't flown in years and have been reading about all the restrictions. Do I really have to have a special laptop bag with no zippers, buckles, or pockets? And I can't lock my checked luggage unless I buy a special lock? Now I remember why I like traveling in our RV so much. :-)

Even just loosing 30 lbs, I notice the cold a lot more this winter than when I was heavier. Fat must act as insulation.
oh my heck! you just helped me realize why i'm so flipping cold INSIDE our house even now. i just can't get warm this winter! i wear a sweatshirt jacket all the time, sleep with an electric blanket, keep a blanket close, and still can't stay warm. because i lost some insulation! man, glad you mentioned that! it's been driving me nuts. i didn't want to think it was because i'm getting older, since i'm NOT! :D

no RV, I flew in both Sept and Oct both times w/ my lappie, and the thing w/ the special bag is if you don't have a special bag you have to pull the lappie out. Not a big deal, just pull it out, put it in one of the bucket things, put the bag in a different bucket thing and send them thru, seems like I had 3 or 4 buckets one for the bag, one for the lappie
one for my shoes and jacket and one for my camera, which is in a rather large bag

I checked accuweather, and looks like we are going to be having a heat wave while you guys are here. Clear up into the low 40s for the highs and mostly sunny. Of course you know how the forecasts are. LOL We are in the 15 day forecast now, so just check that more closely as we get closer. accuweather.com and then type in salt lake city, UT in the bar at the top

I talked to PQ today, she said if she comes, they will need 1 room w/ 2 beds, but she won't know until her MD appt on the 11th for sure. We need big time prayers to get her health improved to the point where she can come!
