I just bought ACDsee to organize my kits/elements and have PSE 4.0 for editing/creating scrapbook pages.

I open ACDsee and try to insert the element (ie ribbon, button) into an PSE creation with no avail! I tried to copy from ACDsee and paste in my PSE but PSE won't allow pasting. I have tried dragging the element from ACDsee to PSE creation but it just opens the element in PSE instead of inserting it. There is no point in organizing my jpg if I can't insert them into PSE for editing! HELP!

I think that is the way it is supposed to work. I drag items from acdsee to pse6- it opens the element or item in pse and then I drag it down onto my layout. Then I can play with the element anyway I want.

Go to Tools_Open in Editor_Configure Editors and then browse to your PSE program. Once you have that set up, you can CTRL-E and element into PSE. In fact, if you're in ACDSee and haven't opened your editor app yet, the CTRL-E combo will actually launch the app! You can also do this with a multiple selection from ACDSee--each item opens in a separate photoshop window.

More details are available under Help_Index_configuring editors.

Hope this helps!

Exactly how I do it. It's so easy once you get it set up to open directly into your PSE.

Okay, now I can open the element in the editor but I still can't insert it into my layout!! I drag the element onto the layout and it just moves them around on the photo bin. I am so confused!

In PSE4 you can drag your scrapbook paper or element from the workspace down onto the layout page in the photo bin. Make sure you have started a blank layout, then drag and drop the element onto the layout. You also can drag and drop the element over (within the workspace) onto the layout. You also can copy/paste from the element to the layout.

When I used PSE4, I used the drag/drop onto the layout in the photo bin. It seemed to be the fastest and easiest to me. I hope this helps. If not ask again.:)

I guess this is more of a PSE problem then. I can't drag and drop anything to a layout. It just opens the element up seperately in the photo bin rather than adding it to the layout. What am I doing wrong?

Are you selecting your paper in the workspace and then dragging it down into the layout in the photo bin? In PSE4 you can't drag up from the photo bin into the layout in the workspace. I agree the copy/paste does take a while. I'll see if I can find someone else who can explain this in more detail to you. It can be frustrating when you are first learning PSE but once you do it will be so worth it.

Hi, azwallace. Penny (Bocca) asked if I had any ideas to help get you heading in the right direction. I will come back in a bit to try to help more, but it is bedtime for my daughter right now.

I did a quick YouTube video search, and found one that might help. It is 10 minutes long, but I think it might help illustrates the basics of getting started. It is PSE, but hopefully close enough.

Photoshop Elements Digital Scrapbooking Tutorial (http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=pse+scrapbook+tutorial&ie=UTF-8&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&sa=X&oi=video_result_group&resnum=5&ct=title#)

I have been using PSE for a while so I don't consider myself a novice. I have always used the file>place feature to insert my scrapbooking kits. However that is time consuming and I was unable to organize my kits in ACDsee using that method. I found that if I drag the element from ACDsee to PSE, it would open the element in the photo bin. Then I would select the element and make sure that the border (the little spots around it that let you resize it) was activated, THEN I could drag the element into the layout. Does that make sense? Hope this helps someone else and thank you for everyone's time! I really appreciate it! :love3:
