Hi everyone. Today I did a layout that is going to be the first page in one of the heritage albums I am working on. The layout is The Reason I Scrap. I found this poem that explains so perfectly why scrapping my current memories and my heritage is so very important to me. So I wanted to share the poem with you.

STRANGERS IN THE BOX
Come, look with me inside this drawer,
In this box I've often seen,
At the pictures, black and white,
Faces proud, still, serene.
I wish I knew the people,
These strangers in the box,
Their names and all their memories
Are lost among my socks.
I wonder what their lives were like,
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I'll never know their ways.
If only someone had taken time
To tell who, what, where, or when,
These faces of my heritage
Would come to life again.
Could this become the fate
Of the pictures we take today?
The faces and the memories
Someday to be passed away?
Make time to save your stories,
Seize the opportunity when it knocks,
Or someday you and yours could be.......
The strangers in the box.

Great poem & really hits home. I know almost nothing about my heritage & have very few pictures. I'm going to make sure future generations have fun looking through my scrapbooks.

What a great poem. It really has meaning. I have some information on heritage but I wish I knew more. Look forward to seeing more pages. ")

It is a great poem. The very first digital layout I did was a response to that poem - it was Meryl's heritage challenge of the week.

What a great way to start your album.

Thank you so much for sharing that poem. It helps to validate all the time I take scrapping my family and friends. Best of luck on your album.

I went to your gallery and looked at your first layout. Wow, impressive for a first layout. Great response to the poem.
