Hi everyone,

I'm new here to this site and to digital scrapbooking. I've downloaded some really great things, and am very excited to use them! I'm interested in making my own embellishments, but can't figure out how. Can anyone help me?

Just for fun, I scanned my watch band with my scanner and figured out how to save it as a .PNG. When I try to use it in Photoshop Elements 3 as an embellishment, it copies as if it were a picture, not an embellishment (so I get the background with the band, not just the band). I know I am doing something very wrong, but what? Am I even using the right tools to do what I'm trying to accomplish?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Denise

PNG files retain transparency - but it doesn't make everything transparent - you have to do that. The easiest way (using your example) would be to scan in the watch. Copy it into a new document with a transparent background and then use your various tools (marquee, magic wand, lasso, etc.) to erase the white background leaving only the watch. Then save it.

HTH!

I was also wondering why I was getting the white background as I just got a scanner and was trying to scan some embellishments. Thank you so much for the info. Now I can carry on.I have PSE 2. I also was wondering if anyone is having problems with PSE 2 freezing up on them. This has been happening to me quite a lot lately and I am getting very frustrated. If anyone can help thanks. ang
