This is my first attemp at a new post. So I'm not sure if I'm posting this question correctly or in the right place. So pls give me instructions if done incorrect.

I'm trying to apply a mask to some pictures but everytime (9.9 times out of 10) when I bring up my picture and click on load mask from disk, PSP completely freezes. The msg unknown error occurred pops up and I have to shut PSP down. Am I doing something wrong? I've even tried converting my photo (background) into a raster layer first but that doesn't seem to help. This is very frustrating because I'm sure it's an easy fix?? Thanks for any and all help!

When this has happened to me it is often a memory problem. Do you have other programs open? Have you saved your image recently (or have too many images open and in memory)? Do you have a large item copied (on the clipboard)? In PSP's preferences, there is a place to reduce the number of "undo's" you want it to remember (so you can go back several steps if you want to change something) -- I limited the number of undos (and on my laptop, I disabled the autosave feature -- which means I have to remember to save myself or I will lose everything if PSP does freeze!!) But I don't have many freeze-up problems since I changed the settings.

Hoping this might help, or check the jasc.com website (makers of PSP) and type your query in the search box -- there are some great tutorials and help files from the maker of the software. Anyone else have ideas for Lynn?

Thank you for the information Pam! I brought the undo down to 100 MBytes from 500 MBytes. When I bought my computer a few months ago, I specifically went with 1 GB Ram just for PSP and scrapbooking. So this mask "problem" had me perplexed. But I've been bringing up several pictures and everything is working just fine. Again, thank you for your help! :)
