That was one of my favorite layouts in the magazine. I know I don't have a photo like that one of my daughter's first attempts at standing, but I wish I did so I could scraplift it.

Very impressive.

Wait, I haven't gotten mine yet! Am I not in this one...now I have no idea when my layout is coming out, I thought it was March. Maybe it's April/May

Okay, Andy, now I have to drive to the LSS and buy this one! For some reason I thought we were in the same issue, but maybe we're just in the same column for different months...

Congrats! I just got my check from them a few days ago, ain't it great?!

Hi Emma! I just reviewed the mag again but I didn't see your layout. That's so weird, 'cuz I think you're supposed to get the check right when the issue comes out, which would mean that you should be in this issue. I went out and bought my own mag, not realizing that they were going to send me one, which I received a couple of days ago too.

Maybe they just sent your check out early and you're in the next issue?

Oh man ... you should have seen my face when I got that check ... yipeee yahooo!!!

Congratulations! I didn't know that they did an online publication too? Is that what the Virtual Page Call is for on Scrapsubmit? I feel like such an idiot now ... I thought that call just meant for computer generated pages, not that the pages would be published online.

Anyway, gorgeous layout as always, Emma!

No, Andy: your virtual Page Call was printed, wasn't it? I'm not sure, I thought it was for the mag. Who knows?! They pay the same, and it still "counts" as a publication :)

I just went to Simple Scrapbooks digital gallery site. They popped up a servey about making the digital magazine a regular quarterly. They wanted to know if I would subscribe to it. I told them yes.

And I would subscribe to it. I'd love to see a regular digital magazine, filled with articles. I love this web site, but I also would like to be able to sit down in a chair and read about my hobby in a paper format.

Emma,
Does the One-Click WOW! CD-ROM work with PSE3?
Is that a product you would recommend?

Emma
03-23-2005, 03:47 PM
Any of the One-click Wow will work with any version of PS or PSE that accepts layer styles (PS 6,7, CS and PSE 2, 3)

They just have different books for different software. For instance, when I'm making a layer style for PSE, I often leave off the drop shadow, or I create styles that are very simple like JUST shadows or JUST bevels as I gave in the DSU 261 class so you can stack them and make them more customized. I have the PS 7 Wow that I use in PSE 2 and 3, but I don't have any of those simple styles that are in the PSE version. In PS, you can't stack styles that way. If you click on a new one, it completely removes the old one and replaces with the new one, so those simple styles useful for stacking styles in PSE are useless for the PS version. Make sense?

So, to answer, yes it'll work. But if you don't have PS, then get the PSE Wow. Either or both. Check the book to see if there is a list and samples to see which you'd prefer, they'll both work

Andrea
Congrats. I saw that picture and recognized it from the boards. How wonderful that must feel. I've got the bug now after submitting for the sketches book to enter some more.
Way to go.
How long did it take from there deadline date to when you heard they wanted your layout?

Hi Wendy! You know, I can't quite remember. I submitted my layouts specifically for the SS Digital Issue #3 call - I think it was back in October. I think it was about a week after I submitted that I got a telephone call from SS, asking for my Glorious Success layout for a totally different column/issue.

It was an awesome feeling, let me tell you! Hopefully, one day, I'll get to experience it again!

Did you say...CHECK...OK...How do I get in on this!!!Check above in Articles>Want to be Published for some tips! I also like www.scrapsubmit.com

If you wanna get published, you have to submit everything. Lots of stuff that we don't even like gets chosen. Who knows what they're looking for, LOL! I try to make a "date" to submit stuff once every two weeks so I'll keep up. Haven't done it in a long time, however

Emma - when you say you try to submit once every 2 weeks - are you submitting to specific calls, or just to an ongoing, general call at the magazines?

Emma
03-24-2005, 02:32 PM
Both. I always choose a specific call, then submit that layout to everyone while I'm at it
