As part of Scrapolution, we want to help you SET scrapping goals, ACHIEVE them, and CELEBRATE them! And celebrate them with Flair!
Add a Flair Card (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=6648) to your signature! To help you track and celebrate your goals, simply download a free Flair Card Kit for your siggy here (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=6648). Then as you meet a goal, add Flair to your Flair Card (http://digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35871)! Try a challenge, take a class, finish a layout… add Flair! Add your Flair Card to your signature (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/university/tutorials/signature.shtml), use it in email, post it on blogs, etc. Proudly display your shiny new Flair so everyone can see you're reaching your goals!
Each card contains a layout tracker where you can update the number of layouts you have completed in 2009. Set a reasonable goal!
It also has spaces for you to put flair. You can receive flair for special activities you participate in (DSU classes, tutorials completed, etc.) as well as creating your own for achieving your scrapping goals. We'll offer special flair for big events such as Christmas in July and our April Birthday Celebration. The weekly prompts (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35872) will have flair if you do those. http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/data/6648/thumbs/goal.png Designers and members may give out flair for their events. http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/data/6648/thumbs/FreebsSpangle.png Special groups (such as the Grannies or Digital Elite Team) may create and give out their own flair as well. Post it in the Member Flair Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=6680). Flair is completely up to you!
Hopefully the themes and prompts (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35872) will help motivate you. But don't just play, set some goals! If you aim at nothing, you’ll hit it every time. So let’s aim at something and set a goal!
Stephen Covey says to be effective, start with the end in mind. Maybe you have an idea of how many layouts you want to do this year, what techniques you want to learn, which classes you want to take, and how many challenges you’ll try. If so, set those goals and get started! If not, maybe you should start slowly. :) Maybe do 1 layout a month, try 1 new technique, take 1 class, and join 1 challenge. Then if you reach those goals, aim higher and adjust your goals. They’re YOUR goals, so you can change them if you want!
You'll find a wide variety of flair for different events (with more added soon) in the Scrapolution Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=6648). You may also download and customize blank flair in that gallery. Please play fair, no commercial flair. :)
There is a limited amount of space on your Flair Card, so once your card gets full, only display the flair that is most important to you. As your card fills up, add your extra flair to your Flair Book or Flair Sleeve (both included in your Flair Card Kit) that you can download here (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=6648).
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/freebies/flair/flairexamplebooks.jpg
Keep your Flair Book in your gallery so you can proudly display ALL of your flair!
Keep your Flair Card in your signature so you can be encouraged by your progress, brag about your goals, and inspire others as well!

I can't look at it, my computer won't open the small link, lol. I am running on a 64-bit HP Pavilion and Adobe has not developed Flashplayer for the 64-bit yet. Is there another way I can look at this Flair?

Margie
01-01-2009, 01:40 AM
just pull them in like a quick click and use them however you want. see the second post for examples, pretty much up to you. the holes are just the right sizes for the two sizes of flair. and there are layers for a ticker if you want to count up your layouts.
so all in the same file, stacking them how you like. does that help any??

I hope this Flair thingy won't make me feel guilty. I don't think I can do more since I did well over 500 (FIVE HUNDRED!!!!!!!) layouts just over ONE year.......that's a lot of layouts. I am dead, lol. But I want to look at this Flair bit too.
Hm, maybe tomorrow when i am less tired/excited.
Margie
01-01-2009, 01:55 AM
MY strip looks very thin compared to yours & Meryls.Did you double your strip or is that the Larger strip?
i used the smaller hole-having strip on top of the bigger hole-having strip.
By the way, did you shoot your gun tonight?? LOL
no! i was busy getting the announcements up and the kids were too wound up! :D

I hope this Flair thingy won't make me feel guilty. I don't think I can do more since I did well over 450 layouts just over ONE year.......that's a lot of layouts. I am dead, lol. But I want to look at this Flair bit too.
Hm, maybe tomorrow when i am less tired/excited.
450!!!!? Wow!!!! I bow to that!
My flair is done for now! I want to collect more though, to fill it up!
There are two size strips - the small one is for the teeny challenge icons. Use the bigger one for the flair buttons!
sabina_canada
01-01-2009, 02:10 AM
I can't open it, lol. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe it's my computer. Like I can't open the small postage size links, but I will check it out again tomorrow.
Hehe, I just looked at how many layouts I did: YEP, over 500 in just 13 months!!!!!!!!!
I don't think I can top that one.......but maybe I can use this Flair anyway perhaps with ploppers, haha. But first I have to see if I can open the link.

I think I am too tired right now. I downloaded Meryl's Heritage, but haven't got the foggiest where to put it, lol......or what to do with it.
I wait till tomorrow. Off to bed. NOW.
sabina_canada
01-01-2009, 02:27 AM
oK. i found the flair cards, but ehhhhh, hmmm, call me dumb, but where do I add it? and should I even use it? I have a goal for my heritage book, but not sure if that should be counted? I can't top my own layouts from last year because I know I worked very hard and feel exhausted right now.
What do you recommend, Margie? maybe I should just plod on the way I was doing?
ugh...I better go to bed.
Night night and A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL.

Sabina - you could make a goal of entering more challenges this year.
Since I jump around alot and don't scrap chronologically, I tend to have some of this year done and some of that year done. So my goal is to focus on getting 2006 done and books printed. After that my goal will be to start scrapping Megan's lifebook or our trip to China.
sabina_canada
01-01-2009, 02:44 AM
ok. I jump around like Mandy too. So I suppose I could have a goal of finishing off my heritage pages for one generation, work on learning some tutorials, get some layouts done from 2004 of Victoria, then 2005, hmmmmm, and maybe work on my travel journal. Oh, oh no, no, I have over 420 layouts in my favorites which need to be lifted or copied or scrapped. Either way they are hundreds.......I should work on those also.......
soooooooo, well, I better go to sleep.....and if I don't sleep, it's all YOUR fault i.e. DsP.....
off to bed right NOW. Actually I just peeked in the store and lol and behold, yesssss, I can now download any kit at 300 dpi.......and they are on sale too.
I know, I have chatted enough and not done anything constructive yet.....
GONE....

01-01-2009, 02:50 AM
LOL, Mandy, I am running out of hours here......I need to lift some of your layouts and all those hundreds of LO that are in my favs. folder.......hahahaa. I have over 420 in my favs. a lot of them YOURS and MARS!!
Plus my heritage pages which will require another minimum 500 layouts;
plus Victoria layouts as she is growing
and the twins and travelling
I suppose I should cut back on sleeping !
How on earth did I manage to create all those layouts last year?
Now I better go to bed. That's it. I am not chatting any more.
Definitely gone. I just wished I could figure out what to do with the Flair card. I actually got lauren's one too: DSP is a Lifestyle.....

Just a quick question about these flair sig whatsits .....
I've noticed there is a limit of 100 px high for the sig pictures.
Are the flair images being stacked or are they just one large image and no one is worrying about the 100 px high request??

LOL Sabina - I have way too many LOs in my favs that need scraplifting too! Maybe I need to add that into my "ticker" que

I'm taking your Flair as inspiration, Mandy. My goal for this year, preferably the first half of this year, is to completely scrap 2006 AND 2008 (I did 2007 this Fall). With all the number counters I wasn't sure how to set it up, but since I've looked at yours I think I have an idea.

Help Help Help!! I have tried to figure this flair thing out but can't figure out how to even get started. What size do you use for your work space and what size do you save to??
I'm not the only one having trouble. Can anyone write a simple Tutorial to get us started? I do understand how to use QC's but it's just knowing size requirements.
Thanks in advance!
Yay! Mine's done!! What a fun way to unite all our signatures! I love seeing everyone's variation!
Gram: The size of your canvas will depend on which configuration of flair layers you use. All of them are 480 pixels wide (at 200 ppi), so you can start with that. The large button layer is 80 pixels high, the small one is 40 pixels high, and the ticker layer is 60 pixels high. If you use all of those, stacked on top of each other, your canvas will need to be 480 x 180.
I started with that and then adjusted my height as I moved things around.

This looks fun! And having a scrapping goal? Now there's a novel idea! Must think of some! Last years goals were simply to survive the day, and scrapping kinda fell to the wayside. Must do better this year!
Off to check out the flair stuff and come up with some goals!!

LOL but I feel like I already need to use the extra plastic holder for all the Flairs I want to display  But it surely won't fit in a 480 x 180 pixel size
Sue - my Flair ticker ended up being 160px high and is all one image, not stacked. Also I've seen others that are above the 100px high mark.

Instead of doing it how you do your regular things in your signature, right click on the image in the full view (i.e. the one with the comments) and then put that link into the edit signature part. Then put the link inside image quote at the front and at the back. Then post it. It will post it at full size then.
It let me put it in there, so it's in the Scrapolution Flair gallery :)

Wanted to post my quick tutorial that I posted to the granny thread and sent in PM to a few people. Lots of information spread around and here it is in one place:
1. Go to the Scrapolution Gallery and download the scrapolution flair kit. Also, download any of the flair buttons that you like by right clicking on them and saving them. I made a flair folder for them.
2. In your program, you need a canvas that is 480 wide by 160 high if you want one row of each kind of thing (big buttons, little buttons and ticker). Otherwise, mess around with them and figure out what size canvas you want.
3. Put the thing together. Each of the button things come with the black "button" holes and a white background separately and the ticker comes with a set of things that you can use. Everything can be recolored and you can use any background you want on it, as well as any other elements that you have, although probably resized.
4. When you are done, save it for the web like you would for any layout. Then upload it to the gallery like you would for any layout.
5. In your gallery, pull up the big view of the flair card and right click it, then click "copy location".
6. Then, in "edit signature" in your "my account" page, paste the copied location (which should look like a web address with something like .jpg at the end). Put at the beginning of the address and at the end, and then hit preview signature to make sure everything is okay.
7. Save signature and then make your first post with your flair card.

OK, if there are any designers looking in on this forum, I've always worried about putting a blinkie in for a particular chat/challenge/designer, because I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. I do all of your challenges from time to time, but I guess there are some I do more faithfully. I just would hate to hurt anyone's feelings, but I can't make such a big flair board.
Ruby Rynne
01-02-2009, 12:20 PM
Well I think the idea is you just pick the ones that express your goals best. Or the ones you like best as flairs. Or a mixture. But I seriously doubt anyone is going to be offended if you don't wear every flair you 'win' - they are your goals and your badges of honour, so just pick the ones that are most important to YOU.
ETA Forgot to say, you get extra placeholders (book or plastic wallets) to put you 'spares' in so you can still display them in your gallery. Not everything has to be in your sig :)

Gram---thanks for asking this...I was beginning to think I was the only one failing Flair! I was going to ask if there was a Flair For Dummies somewhere!
Thanks so much for the response Meg! Atleast now I have a starting point...

Now, if only my baby would come out of my belly, then I'd get started on those 160 layouts for the year!! Lol!
NOW is the time to join 10 challenges and make a goal to finish 12 layouts before the baby comes (or insert your own numbers). Trying to get something finished before the baby comes will help take your mind off the waiting and will help make the time go faster. How do I know? I've had 4 late babies. The last one went a full 42 weeks! (I have 5 kids, but only 4 were 41 weeks or further).
I doubt you will hurt anyones feelings .... the designers know that not everyone can do every challenge whether it be due to time or money or some other reason and each designer has their own style so not everyone is going to like every single thing in the store. There are also lots of generic challenges out there that do not require a certain kit and lots of flair buttons for personal things as well, plus you can make your own buttons. Its a ton of fun esp when you see those goals being achieved. :yahoo::tup::yahoo:

I will put in a ticker as soon as I think up a goal. I will also be actively looking to finish challenges and get that bottom place filled up.
Grannies need a flair button!
Salt Lake City Crop needs a button. I just don't have time right now.

This looks fun! And having a scrapping goal? Now there's a novel idea! Must think of some! Last years goals were simply to survive the day, and scrapping kinda fell to the wayside. Must do better this year!
Off to check out the flair stuff and come up with some goals!!
KY I love the comment to the right goal... Super idea!

I was reading thru this forum and noticed on the first post it says no commercial flair. I made a flair button for PSP X2 - just to show that it's the software I use - just want to make sure that's ok! (I'm thinking you mean the same as our posts - no links to commercial sites).

Thats a great idea! Flair for PSE, PSP, etc....its not another commercial digital site, but we all use some form of photo program.

Thank you to all that have tried to help with my teeny tiny little flair. For a brief moment it appeared normal in all of its glory. I tried to delete the teeny tiny one and....you guessed it, the big one ran away. Now I am stuck with the teeny one again. My signature is pretty messed up most of the time. I think I am jinxed.

Shawsi, I've PM'd you but basically all the problem is is that you've left out the / before the last [IMG] - see the part that is showing up as only TEXT in your sig, that part. If you insert the / then the large one will show up again so you can delete the small one.
Why don't you just delete the whole signature and start again, just insert this line after clicking on 'insert image' (little mountain icon) when editing your signature:-
"http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/data/6682/Flair-1-10-09.jpg"
Good luck.
Oh darn DSP is shortening the URL, this is what it should be after the http://www.

I kinda wish that the flair buttons were clickable.... because many of them I don't know what they are or where it is located, but they do make me curious.
Even if it took you to the flair gallery and explained it there, and linked to the gallery/challenge/etc. that would be great.
Like I see Meryl's Tea 4 2 flair button, which if I didn't know where to go I could click on it and it would take me to the posts, of if that can't work, to the flair gallery where it could have the link there.
I need sleep... I hope that makes sense.

Huh, mine still seems small in comparison to everyone else's,
you're using the sig pic, the upload box and it reduces the size. it needs to be in your gallery, then linked to.

I have a question about the flair...I'm making my flair card now, but how do I know what random flair I can use? I know there's special flair for doing challenges and stuff but is there a specific gallery for "any use" flair?? Also, when a challenge has a specific flair for participating is there a link to that flair in the challenge post?? Sorry if it's a silly question....

Can someone please tell me how I get my flair card to not shrink down when I add it to my signature??
I'm confused...
Where do we get the blank template to create the actual FLAIR (not the tracker, mind you...but the FLAIR itself)?
I looked at the gallery but saw no blank file?
And is it a PSD file where we then can add it as a layer?
I see no tutorial on how to create a flair.
Thanks for any help! :)

If you look here (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showpost.php?p=585168&postcount=1) you will find lots of info.
The Flair Gallery is here (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=6648).
Hi Meryl,
Thanks so much for answering. :)
I looked at both of those links and did see already created flair.
But I was hoping for a BLANK flair where I can customize it.

Okay, I feel even MORE stupid...
I opened up a circular flair (.png) in Photoshop CS2.
How do I "fill it" with my image and/or text and/or color?
Do I use it as a mask?
I did look at instructions.txt but those didn't help. :)
Thanks for any help... I do appreciate it!

Ted, you really fill them just the same way as you would a quickclick.
Ted, you really fill them just the same way as you would a quickclick.
Thanks so much, Meryl! :)
I'm reading the tutorial on Quickclicks, as I have never used one before. :)
I'm stuck at using the magic wand. When I use it, I click on the overlay and I have to use shift-click to get ALL of it.
Then I click on the background paper I want, and then SHIFT-CTRL-I to get inverse.
Then delete...
But everything just looks blurry. Is that normal? :)
Here's my attempt. :)

Not crazy about the font appearing pixilated. :)
I think you'll find when it's in your signature, the blurry bit will not show up so much - it's teeny compared to regular things, but has to be or it won't work in a signature. Sorry, I'm no help at all !

I would love to join but don't know how to get started. I am fairly new here so I haven't participated in any challenges, classes etc nor do I belong any groups. Can I use whatever I can find in the Flair gallery? And here's another problem. Since I work way too long hours, I don't get much time during the week. So I'm afraid to say that my goal would be something like one new LO a month. http://tamako.milkcafe.to/luv/emoticon/embarassed.gif http://tamako.milkcafe.to/luv/emoticon/embarassed.gif http://tamako.milkcafe.to/luv/emoticon/embarassed.gif
Sounds really stupid as everyone does a great job like every day and keep coming up with an awesome idea. Is that OK to set my goal that low? And most importantly, is that OK with y'all to have such a newbie join in here??? http://tamako.milkcafe.to/luv/emoticon/sad.gif http://tamako.milkcafe.to/luv/emoticon/sad.gif http://tamako.milkcafe.to/luv/emoticon/sad.gif

I am still trying to figure this one one, forgive me. So, you use the kit to create your own flair card in Photoshop, then upload it to the flair gallery and use it in your signatues? Or do you upload it directly to your signature from your computer? When you want to change something, like add a flair or change your progress, then you have to modify the card again in Photoshop and upload again? Am I understanding that correctly? Thank you for claryfing. I am just returning to DSP and am catching up =).
