chemedgirl
01-17-2006, 08:42 PM
Chemedgirl, or ChemEdGirl to make it clearer, comes from the fact that my first master's degree (also from Texas A&M) is in Chemistry (Chemical Education emphasis), and I'm a girl :D
My real name's Lisa :)
erindipity
01-18-2006, 11:47 AM
I got my screen name from my son about 6 or 7 years ago! There was this Taco Bell commercial where that basketball announcer, Dick Vitale (I think that is his name) screams SERENDIPITY BABY, SERENDIPITY!! at this basketball player. Well, my son, (about 8 yrs. old at the time) looks at me and screams...ERINDIPITY BABY, ERINDIPITY!!! I loved it and ran to my PC and got erindipity everywhere I could! LOL

brintlee
01-20-2006, 03:10 PM
 The name is "brintlee". This is a combination of my three childrens' names: Briana, Clint, and Rylee. Hence "brintlee". This was my husband's creation. Not bad! Maybe he should be the creative one scrapping!
brintlee
01-20-2006, 03:11 PM
What happens when you turn 41? Oh yeah. We never get any older than 40!!
DizzyPerryMom
01-20-2006, 07:05 PM
DizzyPerryMom, well, cause my nickname has been Dizzy for as long as I can remember (my personality?) LOL. Perry, my sir name, and Mom, because I have five children and am planning on adopting more. I also go by DizzyTruckersWife, which, as you probably figured, means my husband is a truck driver. My name is Angela, or Dizzy for short of my nick. I answer to both and all of the above.
Dizzy
williang
01-20-2006, 11:30 PM
Well, mine's not as creative as some of y'alls... my name is Angie Williams -- mix it around a bit, and you've got williang. :p
My husband just joined up on the site too... he's Dubya. And no, it's not because he's a big fan of the pres... it's just 2 of his 3 initials! But he IS from Texas, like our POTUS! :)

bethliz
01-24-2006, 05:36 AM
I got my nick from a combination of my real name Elizabeth and my nick name Lizard......I had a good english girlfriend who insisted on calling me Beth and it stuck. I worked at Big W packing shelves with teenagers and they insisted on calling me Lizard and it stuck too...so I thought of putting the two together and besides it was hard to pick something no one else had. I have been scrapping for a while about 4 years and started pasting and sticking the original way to do something with old letters and postcards my grandfather wrote me when I was little. Since then I have done a few albums and always liked the computer for journalling. Anyway I am familiar with Publisher and Power Point and PSP 8 and use the three combined to do my scrapping. PSP 8 I use mainly for photo editing and playing with photos and the other two I use to put together layouts. I have done some albums with Power Point put to music for friends weddings and they turned out okay. Makes a good wedding present. Does anyone else use these programs like this?
mrsdiddy
01-24-2006, 10:04 AM
I got my nickname from a friend of my husbands. His nickname used to be P.Diddy because of a silver coat he wore that looked like a coat that Puff Daddy wore in a video. When we got married I became...Mrs Diddy. Silly isn't it.
bbburdie
01-24-2006, 10:41 AM
It's what makes you special. :) I love hearing how people got their nicknames! My husband and I have had ours for soooo long that we have decided to figure out new ones that will go more with our current lives(after 25 years ya gotta spruce things up somehow). lol I like how you became the 'mrs'. cute.
MrsJackBauer
01-24-2006, 10:21 PM
Come on, you gotta know :p
Did anyone get this??
Not unless you're married to Jack. :p
MrsJackBauer
01-24-2006, 11:17 PM
Not unless you're married to Jack. :p
I wish LOL!
The name is from the show 24. Kiefer Sutherland is Jack Bauer on the show and I love his character... so hence, my name!
Okay, as soon as I put that in, I knew I was going to label myself an old lady!!!! ;-} I knew that name sounded familiar! Ha!
P.S. Actually, my first guess (obviously don't watch 24 but do know who Kiefer Sutherland is) was that you were a newlywed. ;-}
l-o-fantz
01-27-2006, 05:44 PM
my user name is pronounced just as it is spelled. the letter L the letter O and Fantz. As in the animal. I am an animal lover in general, but obsesive when it comes to elephants. :D I have them EVERYWHERE in my house, jewelry of everkind in the shape of elephants, and even elephants tatooed on my body! And of course I like to be different, so I couldn't spell it correctly! lol:cool: My real name is Dawn
shajones
01-28-2006, 10:07 AM
So I'll make a VERY L- O- N- G story short:) . I'm American Indian and I got my original name Shadoefire from a shamen who was doing a sweat lodge at the time(for you guys who don't know, a sweat lodge is when you go into a lodge and wear minimal clothes{because of sweating so much}, smoke some real wacky stuff:D and meditate, sometimes for days:eek: ) Anyway, my spirit guide told him my name and it means the dark shadow of the doe, hence the spelling:rolleyes:
with a fire within. Tada! I've been Shadoe ever since but there is another Shadoe on here so I shortened it to Sha and my last name...
Was that the short version or the long version...I can't remember now...
What were we taking about?

BansGran
02-04-2006, 12:00 PM
My name is sort of an extension for how I got involved with scrapping in the first place.. we gave my daughter a puppy to help cheer her up.. and she wanted to start scrapbooking to have every single detail of her puppies life saved forever...
The puppy's name is Banner (who just turned two).. and I became BansGran..... we have added a couple more grandpuppies to the group.. so I was PatnBansGran for a while... but that is a long name..LOL!!!
so BansGran it is. In September 2006 I will be a Grandmother, my youngest daughter is expecting her first child. I can hardly type I shake with excitement at the thought... so the doggy lo's will become baby lo's at least for a while I am sure.. hope you all like dogs!!!!

02-04-2006, 07:32 PM
Love the story about the Skidoo wedding! I work for Bombardier though I work for the boat motor division. Still, its family...
My username is 2plump. I'm sure you all can figure out why ;) Sometimes I use the handle slow2fly because I just can't get with the Flylady system of keeping the house clean. Too much fun to scrapbook, read, and I write logic puzzles for Dell in my spare time.
I'm brand new to digital. Today was the first attempt. I read how to make torn pages and have made 2 pages featuring a couple grandkids. Now to tackle the other two. Maybe I'll try that burned edge on one. Thanks for a great site.
One of the problems I have is using the freebies because my PhotoStudio doesn't accept the png format. On my last page I converted an embellishment to jpeg and then used it. Is this the correct way or is there an easier way?
Bye for now. 2plump
Too much fun to scrapbook, read, and I write logic puzzles for Dell in my spare time.
Love those logic puzzles in Dell! I used to use them with my math students. :D

So many interesting stories here, and I always wonder about some of the names. Mine...well, I'm a redhead, and my real name, Kaycee, starts with a K, so just spelled it with a K. I don't even like snakes.

kitkat36
02-17-2006, 01:18 AM
I am a newbie here...but I got my nick name from my real name Kathy so I was called Kat by my friends and when I was pregnant with one of my kids all I craved was kitkat bars...then everyone started calling me kitkat...lol and it's stuck with me ever since.
Lavender49
02-17-2006, 02:27 PM
Lavender I got from visiting the Lavender farms in Sequim, WA. I love everything lavender. My bedroom is lavender. 49 came from how old I was when I picked up a user name. My real name is Elizabeth.
JaLeeRenee
02-17-2006, 03:47 PM
I got mine from my first and middle names. I got tired of trying to keep the same name (so I could remember) and them being taken already, so I just decided to use my name.

02-17-2006, 03:54 PM
Hmmmm....this is a tough one for me. Sorry, I don't have time to get into it right now. ROFL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
Teezer66
02-17-2006, 09:36 PM
Well...I've had this nick for 5 yrs. It goes way back when I first start chatting in MSN Chat. I met some great group of ppl and one guy was calling me a tease all the time and somehow I needed a new name and he came up with "Teezer". I've been stuck with it since then... even tried to change it a few times but everyone still called me Teezer. The 66 is the year I was born.
honeymoon
02-19-2006, 11:03 PM
Why Honeymoon?
That was the names of our cats. Picked up just after our Honeymoon, these two brothers were our children for the first 8yrs of our marriage. Honey was ginger and became my cat (and sadly is no longer with us). Moon is black and very much DH's cat.
My real name is Fiona

02-20-2006, 05:47 PM
Hi,
I use Tomtwig on most of my correspondence - I'm a Tomlinson twig on the family tree. Not very exciting, but family history was my first love - before digital scrapbooking, which I became addicted to immediately!
Thanks to all you pros.... Mavis Mims, aka tomtwig
mamawsandy
02-20-2006, 11:23 PM
[SIZE="4"][/SIZ:) Hello, I was just Sandy cause that is my real nickname. But there were so many Sandys around that I began to get confused with other members. Then MSN gave me the SDTennessee, and I used that a while. Being old, my memory is not what it used to be, so I switched to a name that I have not seen before. It is MamawSandy. I have three lovely grandchildren all under 6. They are my delights. So mamawsandy it is.
My real name is Sandra. I guess that is ok, but too common for use.

debbers
02-21-2006, 03:31 AM
I was born during the heyday of women naming their daughters Debbie. In my high school graduating class, there were *3* Debbie A's alone, and two of them shared the same last name, but were not related. So ... we 3 Debbie (A...)'s got together and made our life a little easier by agreeing who was going to use which name/nickname. (Debbie G, Debbie B, etc ... didn't have as many as the A's.)
Mine would just be 'deb'
Which explains why I still sign my name deb ... but my nickname was something that just happened while I was working at a previous job. One of my staff started calling me 'debbers' (even though I was older than all of them...) and it caught on with a number of people.
So, there you go. Boring, but true.
Thank you all for making this newbie feel so welcome here.

crafteme
02-21-2006, 08:42 AM
Well mine is because it is what I am -- crafty! Let's see I've run the gammit from cross stitch to flower arrangements to crocheting to one stroke painting to ceramics to rubber stamping to scrapbooking. I actually have been scrapbooking for 12 years and stamping for 5 so I think there here to stay. The rest well lets say where is that box of cross stitch stuff I just had to have?!!! I'm sure many of you can relate!
Anxiously awaiting my software to add another facet!
twinkerbell
02-21-2006, 03:17 PM
twinkerbell because I like tinkerbell and other fairies and I have twins. I pronounce it just like Tinkerbell except with a W. Or like Twinky. LOL! Oh, I almost forgot, my name is Tiffany.
dotter4
02-21-2006, 10:14 PM
I picked dotter4 years ago when I saw that my oldest sister chose dotter1 as her email name. I am the fourth daughter in a family of eight girls and for a couple of years my sisters used dotter1, dotter2, etc. I think I am the only one who has stuck with "dotter" as an ongoing user name. My real name is Nancy though.

mizamigo
02-25-2006, 01:52 PM
I've been mizamigo for about 7 years now. We moved into this community and live in "Santiago" Village, so our social club was formed and we bacame the "Santiago Amigos". I started our web site and needed a username for that and of course all the "amigos" and "miss amigos" were taken. So, thinking outside the box, I tried MIZamigo and got it! I've been mizamigo ever since.
It's nice to have such a unique handle since most people can remember it! My real name is Victoria.
blunosr
02-26-2006, 02:07 AM
My username is "blunosr" (pronounced Blue Noser) which is the nickname for people from Nova Scotia, Canada. No, not because it's cold, but because of the famous schooner "The Blunose" which was undefeated for many years (about a century ago) in the world schooner racing circuit. I like to use it because anyone from the area immediately identifies where you're from and because I'm now living in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and miss home.
l-o-fantz
02-27-2006, 09:52 AM
Great story and username blunosr. It is great to be able to see where people are coming from (just mentally in most cases, but I guess geographically in yours too) when they pick their names.
Rene Bross
02-27-2006, 10:08 AM
Well Rene' is my first name and Regalmuto is my maiden name. I've been using reneregal to log into every site I've ever registered on. That way I only ever have to remember one log in name. I'm a mom to 2 boys under 3, so my fried mommy brain doesn't let me remember much.
PhotoCrazed
02-27-2006, 05:57 PM
I chose my username based on the fact that my husband wasn't very thrilled that I purchased another digital camera (3 in the the last 2 years) and the fact that I'm obsessed with taking pictures but never actually do anything with them (hence PHOTOCRAZED) - until now. I just discovered DSP and I'm hooked. Any suggestions of where to start?
flowerscrapmom
02-28-2006, 09:09 AM

narrell
02-28-2006, 04:14 PM
Mine is my first name (Narrell), I use it so that I wont forget my login...The spelling is a bit different than most Narelle's , but that's because my mother allowed my dad to name me and he didn't know how to spell it, so he just sounded it out, ( as in...Nar...Rell) and I ended up with my name spelt different.
I have traced the meaning of it and it means "woman from the sea", which is appropriate seen as I live just a short distance from the "Great Barrier Reef " off the coast of Australia.

03-06-2006, 09:56 AM
My username here is TTM-Cheryl
The name I use on message boards is usually twin_trip_mommy. But because this is not a forum about multiples or children I changed it a little.
So the first T stands for Twin because I have twins :) :)
The other T stands for Trip because I also have triplets :) :) :)
The M stands for Mommy because I am a mommy.
The Cheryl is my first name. :D

Hi everybody! My name is Tiffany. My username is offroadmom. One of my hobbies is going offroading with my friends and my husband in the mud or on the beach. I have two active, precious boys ages 18 months and 3. So, I figured not many moms would have this username. I am new to digital scrapbooking and am wanting to learn a great deal for my sisters upcoming wedding. I am the photographer and want to create a special scrapbook for them. Im really excited about learning the programs and meeting people with the same obsession for scrapbooking that I do!

03-20-2006, 02:18 AM
My name is Anne, but my username here is rusty11480. It's for my dog Rusty's birthday of Nov 4, 1980. Rusty was a rusty red miniature poodle who was so loving, but now he's waiting for me by the Rainbow Bridge in heaven. The Rainbow Bridge is a poem that surely every dog lover knows. I have two white poodles now, age 4 named Lexi and Niki.
The beagle my g-son is kissing is not my dog.

03-22-2006, 07:50 PM
My usersname come from the nickname of my dog
My full name is Evelyn. pronounced Ev- lyn rather than Eev-lyn, but it wasn't until I got to college at the age of 18 that anyone, including me, thought of shortening the name and I am now known as Ev by a lot of my friends. Then I met someone who called herself Evvy and I decided that it sounded better than EV, which sounded rather solid and heavy (probably suited the build actually). However it was another friend who started spelling it as Evee, and I liked that. So now I am Ev-ee, though some still pronounce that eevie! Can't win!
voodoolady
03-25-2006, 04:02 PM
I created my name in college and it's stuck ever since. Voodoo Lady is the name of a song by one of my favorite obscure bands. It's a very funny and catchy song and I'm a fun and catchy person. ;)

Mine is a nickname an aunt of mine used to call me when I was little. I never used it but when I started joining on-line communities where I needed a unique ID I found Karen would always be already taken. It's a safe bet that karooch won't be.

My very first post . . . here goes. Easy to figure out my name, I love to travel and I'm a quilter. In fact we're in the process of selling our home and we're going to move into a 40 foot RV and travel the country. Digital Scrapbooking will be perfect if I can get the hang of it. Been doing the paper kind for a few years but can't haul all that stuff with me. Looking forward to some classes on here. My other name is Paula. Look forward to chatting with all of you.

04-04-2006, 02:10 AM
Mine's pretty boring... allyran was chosen many moons ago as Ally is my first name and back then I was single and Randall was my last...it stuck and I'm now forever allyran! Using part of my married name just doesn't have the same ring :)

Zephanee
04-11-2006, 04:42 AM
Well, my online name comes from a name I made up about 9 years ago. At that time, I was playing an online game called Everquest. I really liked the name Stephanie but it didn't sound "fantasy-ish" enough. So I made up this name. Zeph, as she came to be known to my online friends, became someone I escaped to as I was going through a bad divorce. Anyway, Zephanee was reborn in World of Warcraft when I quit Everquest. I've since quit online gaming because I just don't have time for it and I feel I've gotten way too old to be playing games. :p But I learned a lot from Zeph, mostly about how to remain strong during difficult times. I remarried and have a wonderful son and husband. We are trying to conceive our second and last child. I am hoping for a girl and my husband and I have both decided on a name.....Zephanee.

I got my name a few years ago when I first got on line. If any one knows anything about Florida, they know there are lovebugs everywhere in the springtime. I didn't know what to name myself, so I picked "lovebug" but lovebug was taken so I changed the spelling and added lil' that's how I came up with lilluvbug...
My real name is Lisa

My name here is Wolfsub, it's actually a funny way I came to get this name, I did is sort of sarcastically at first. The Wolf part is pretty obvious to anyone who has taken the time to get to know me, on or off line. I love Wolves, no let me say it this way, I LOVEEEEEEEEE WOLVES!!! LOL, Ok so I have an obsessive passion for wolves. The second half of my name is the funny part, off line I'm usually very shy and quiet and I work in a place where people are trying to outdo, outwit, and just down right cast you out, pay is good only reason I stay at this place for now, buy anywho, they always see me so quiet and think I'm weak and submissive, so needless to say they try to do me more often than not I get picked on because of my quiet nature. They soon push enough to find out I'm anything but submissive. So it wasn't a good day the say I signed up and that is how I winded up with my name....WOLFSUB :)

One of the very first chat friends I made when I got on the Internet was always telling me that I was a "little sassy." So, when I saw the name LilSassy somehwere, a DING! went off in my head and my immediate thought was, "that fits me to a tee." I had a website for a while, and someone once emailed me and asked if I was really "sassy." I emailed back, "Just a 'Lil'!"
My next choice for username would have to be PuterGal, because I LOVE tinkering with computers.
My real name is Debra.
It's simply my nickname :)

Mine also is a little easy to figure out, While Darren and I are not married or even rely together right now (having a little struggle) I am married to him completely in my Heart and Soul, He is always worried that I don't love him and ONLY him so when I got the internet he got more worried so at any site that someone may see my name it is always this so that it is clear that I am in love with Darrens ONLY. I t also helps him feel a littel better about things. And He is my heart my life my soul I feel liek I am married to him even when we are apart.

Hi thought I tell you the story how I came up with my nick. Well in fact it wasn´t really me who had the idea. In the years 2002 and 2003 I have been working as an Au-Pair in the States. My first name is Birgit and that´s why my host-mum called me Miss B. It sounded like Miss-Bee and I liked it realy so I adobted it and it became my nick for the world wide web. It´s saying that I´m not married *lol* and how my first name starts, but also that I´m a free spirit like a bee.

Slurpeegirl13
05-07-2006, 10:57 AM
I got mine from my friends at the University of Alberta - I lived in Residence, and for 3 years, we went to 7-11 for slurpees a MINIMUM of 4 nights a week (in crowds of 10-20).
Because I organized the "Sev-runs" most of the time, people started calling me "Slurpeegirl" ... and my lucky number is 13, so I became Slurpeegirl13. :D I almost lost the nic once when I decided to give up all refined forms of sugar for 40 days, but they bought me a slurpee when it was over and it was just as good as before, so then it was really stuck!
Oh, and my real name is Trina. :D

She then started calling me lopes then she decided to do a name of her own which is Penelapop and when they put the broadband on she stuck that name in and when I found out I could change it both penelope and Penny and Pen were taken, I stuck with penelapop and so have had it ever since. I can also remember it which at my age is a plus.

Thanks for answering. I am brand new to scrapbooking. My interest lies in Heritage but I have two grandchildren so I am ready to branch out. Witchwoman51, You may need to post your question in this category to get the help you are requesting. http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=31
I don't use HP Scrapbooking Assistant or Picassa or I would offer to help. Here is a direct link to a tutorial for HPSA in the tutorial section. http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/university/tutorials/hpcsa_addkitsKL.shtml Look at the links at the upper right of this page New to Digital, tutorials, etc. These may help until you can get your questions answered in the Beginners Learning Digital Scrapbooking section.

Welcome to the wonderful world of digital scrapbooking. The tutorials here at DSP were already mentioned and the freebies section (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/place/freebies.shtml) here will give you a fabulous start on the supplies. There are even lots of digital scrapbook kits there.
The chats and challenges are also great. You can get free kits and extras and learn so much from seeing how others use the same kit. A list of June's Chats and Challenges is at the bottom of this page (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14308)
Finally the classes at DSP (http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=4) are inexpensive and a great way to learn.

Boring one here -- first initial, middle initial, last initial, followed by random 3 numbers...at college this was assigned to me as my school user ID, so I got used to using it to log onto every computer lab and more. Since then it pretty much stuck for just about every chat board, log on, etc. I have. Odds are, if you see a tjh186 anywhere, it's probably me!

I used the name of my first nationally published quilt pattern. "Moonshine" kitty. He was a big success and started me on a road full of other published projects inclluding two international quilt magazine covers. He's still my personal favorite (and a best seller of mine too even after several years). :)

Hello witchywoman51:
I would highly suggest that you invest in a good program sucha as PaintShopPro or Photoshop. I used to use HP Scrapbooking Assistant and Picassa, but once I found PSP 8 and learned how to use it, I would never go back to those programs. As for sources of digital scrapbook materials you can google it and you will find plenty of places that offer freebies.:D

photostorytelle
06-08-2006, 11:39 AM
photostorytelle -- well, it should be photostoryteller, but there's only so many characters allowed. In retrospect, I should have named myself photostorytellr, which would have been much more descriptive, but I've got two kids, a husband, a full-time job, and an addiction to scrapbooking, so I don't get much sleep and some days the neurons simply don't fire as they should.
I call myself photostoryteller because it's what I do -- I tell stories with photos. Years from now, I want my children to be able to look back and see our family and know the what, when, where, why & how of their lives. It's my legacy of love.
I started scrapping five years ago after my son was born, and though I loved the process and the finished product, I found myself frustrated by the limitations inherent in the craft. Then about a month ago, I was at my local scrapbook store and happened to pick up a magazine about digital scrapbooking. I couldn't believe the layouts! So I went on-line and starting checking out different websites. I downloaded some freebies, and because I already used PSE to edit my digital photos, I was in business! The versatility of the format simply blew me away!!! A month and a dozen completed double-page layouts later, I have officially become one of the truly obsessed.
I even managed to convince my husband that I needed a new computer to handle the software and editing process (truth be known I could get by with my old one, but if I've been this productive with point-click-wait, just imagine what will happen once my new Dell arrives sometime next week!).
I want to say thank you to all the wonderful designers and staff here -- and to my fellow digiscrappers, too (your art inspires me!!!). You have removed the boundaries of my craft and truly changed the way in which I express my deepest emotions. I will be eternally grateful.

Hello;
I have been scrapping for approximately 3 weeks and I am already addicted. I got interested when my daughter opened my eyes to all the wonderful things that you can do. My great love is genealogy. I am trying to publish a book and I just didn't want the same boring white pages with nothing but words staring up at you. You know the kind, the ones that you pick up to read only to fall asleep five minutes into the storyline.
I am a grandmother of two critically ill children so I don't have much time to devote to this the way that I would like, but at two in the morning it becomes a great stress reliever.
I am just a babe in the woods when it comes to scrapping so if you have a heart, please help me with any info that you can to get me started. Where do you get your freebies? What websites are you favorites? What programs do you recommend? I am using HP Digital Scrapbooking starter kit and Piccasa.

Hi witchywoman51:
Personally I love Photoshop Elements. It's not as advanced as PhotoShop in terms of bells & whistles, but the price isn't as advanced either. You can download a 30-day free trial of PSE 4.0 from www.adobe.com. Then you can go to the tutorial section on this website for some excellent reference material on how to use it. If you don't like the interface and decide it's not the software for you, you're lost nothing. As for materials, there is a SLEW of stuff out there. Just do a Google search for digital scrapbook and you'll find TONS of links. Almost every site I've visited has freebies, so download to your heart's content. Like you, I'm limited for time to devote to my obsession, so the ploppers on this site are great way to get pages done in a New York minute. You should check them out.
cybergram
06-09-2006, 11:46 AM
Mine is simple as well, :) when I signed up for my second ISP in 1998, I was able to pick my own words, so I went with cyber, self explanatory and gram as in grandmother. So much better than with my first provider, first initial, last name. I have been a grandmother for 14 1/2 years & have 2 darling grand daughters & one grandson that, anyone, who has seen any of my pages, will know well:D
So when I signed up to DSP in January 2005, cybergram seemed the logical choice.
Keep on scrapping everyone,

Lolifer
06-10-2006, 11:57 AM
My screen name came about this way: My best friend's son couldn't say "Lori" and would call me "Loli". Loli is what all my friends and family call me now, as far as the screen name, Most screen names need to be at least 6 characters so I asked my hubby to help me out and he came up with "Lolifer" and that's what his side of the family calls me now.

06-11-2006, 12:02 AM
Hello to everyone. My wife has encouraged me to post on the forum and say hi. I believe she is trying to keep me from quitting since Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 and I don't get along that great. I am more into video editing, however every good video/ DVD requires a strong photo editing background to complete the project. So here I am ready to learn...
...for the time being anyway.
My wife goes by TSMSPT. If you happen to send her a message, tell her I love her. It helps to squeeze in a extra "I love you" every chance I can. Darkfae came from a book by C.S. Friedman "When True Night Falls".
By the way, thanks for the kind words about my family pictures I used in my first scrapbook page.
Carma
06-11-2006, 02:05 AM
I used my first name. That way I woudn't forget who I am. LOL It seems like we get so many passwords, code names and such that I just get mixed up. It was easier for me to do that. I notice that a lot of times people end up signing their posts with their real name. So I guess this works.
I use Microsoft Digital Image Plus 2006. Just love it and it is very user friendly, It has two wonderful programs with it for making DVDs and Videos, I can narrate and add music as well as have movement and lots of different transitions in them. My friends and family cannot believe the DVD Video that I did on the WWII Memorial and it was just my 2nd try at it. I am working on a life line for my grandson, who gradutated yesterday, I am just waiting for the rest of the graduation pictures from my daughter to finish it off. I was unable to attend the graduation out of state this time as my husband is just recovering from a back surgery.
I am truly addicted to this, I feel like it is my life work now to get my pictures into scrapbook pages.
Caryatid
06-11-2006, 08:06 PM
I picked this for my on-line identity because it describes how I see myself as a member of my family.
Caryatid is the architectural (sp?) term for the stone support columns that are carved into the form of a woman. That's me, the strong female support to our family.:)
Oddly, there is a term for the male counterpart but I have no idea what it is and my husband does not use it for his on-line identity.:p

DivaMom
06-12-2006, 08:03 PM
Well ... since you asked!;)
My user name (DivaMom) comes from the nick-name that my dh used to call me when we were dating ... Diva Lady. I am a former professional opera singer and the name DivaLady fit really well, at the time. Later, when I had kids, and still later, when I stopped singing opera professionally, I didn't think that DivaLady fit any more ... Diva Mom was much more appropriate!
Static
06-15-2006, 10:26 PM
My user name is partially inspired by Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk because he uses the transitional device "Everything is Static. Nothing is changing. Everything is Chaos. Nothing is staying the same" in it a lot, so when I got my domain, chaostasis.net, I was doing it in partial reference to that, then I just simplify it down to Static for IRC and message boards.
mariafer

Mine is also not very original... It is my nickname from home (Tegucigalpa, Honduras - that is in Central America). My name is Maria Fernanda so they shortened it to Mariafer. I now live in Oklahoma and I don't go by that as no one can pronounce - just plain Maria.

Wuzzygirl has always been my name online. The story is actually a little embarassing to me but the name has stuck. Ten years ago my sister, my mom and I went to Phoenix to celebrate another sister's 40th birthday. We ranged in age from 66 (my mom LOL) to 32 (my youngest sister). To make a long story short, we had gone to dinner and went back to our room after. Mom thought we were going back to freshen up and go out "clubbing" as she called it (was really just the bar at the hotel LOL). Now mind you this is about 7:30 pm and we ARE all youngsters *grins*. Well boy was mom disappointed when we changed out of our clothes and got into the jammies. Mom just looked at us. She said to me....what are you doing. I said "I'm tired and think I'm just gonna relax". my sisters chimed in and we all got comfy watching some tv. My mother, who I love dearly, said to me......"you are such a wuzz! I can't believe you're going to bed.....wuzzy girl wuzzy girl"
I get together alot with my mom and sisters and guess what..............................i'm usually STILL the first one to go to sleep *grins*....but they love me anyways!

My username is the same for everything. My nickname has always been Little One. I am only 4’11’’. I got tired of having to be Little One 57 or what ever number was next in line, so I moved the number to the front, one little one. I have had this one for a long time. My married name is Elizabeth Taylor, so I am thinking of changing it. Maybe MovieStar ;) ;) ;) Or just Elizabeth Taylor???

My username was a nickname a friend of mine gave to me years ago. She is from Switzerland and spoke German. My name is Susie, and I guess "lein" means girl (as in Fraulein), so I'm pretty sure that it means, "Susie girl." Kinda like calling someone girlfriend, I guess.
Oh, and it's pronounced Susie-line for those of us without Swiss German accents. It sounded so different when my friend said it, though!

Wow! What stories, I am in awe, I am Olga and this is my first post, I've been lurking a lot, but not doing anything useful :) I am Russian, and we use a lot of diminutive suffixes, which is a lame translation from what we call it "there" which is more of the diminutive-tender suffices (I am lost: what is the correct plural for suffix?! Nevermind) so my DH (very English) started adding the above-mentioned diminutive to everything, and since he can't pronounce Olia the way they say it in my family (Susielein will understand), he came up with the pops as our own tender suffix, our two kids will be shocked one day when they find out that nobody else knows what foxipopses and horsypopses are! The two of them are our snugglipopses! LOL!

06-23-2006, 08:30 PM
Hi, I'm Donna, aka "sayang" pronounced sigh-young. While I am Australian, I live in Indonesia, and sayang is an Indonesian word that means kind of "sweetie" or "darling" when you call your kids that.
Some fabulous stories in this thread! I've enjoyed getting to "know" you all!

Hi there! I am a teacher and the kids always call me Mrs H. One day a student found out my first name was Faithe and said "Morning Mrs Faithe H" instead of the usual "Morning Mrs H". So, there you go!
Mrs Faithe H
Not to hard to figure out.. it's my first name.. It's so different I like to use it for a user name!

My name - Esjay 0573 comes from the initials of may given names Samantha Joy (S.J.) and the numbers are my date of birth 05.05.73. My mum always writes SJ when writing me a note but my friends call me Sam. I have used this Username for everything on the Net!

Neat to get inside people's heads and see what it is they think about when "naming" themselves. Mine's pretty easy... I'm a Mexican-American Texan and I love it!
I always wanted a 1970 Cuda Convertible. Thinking that would never happen I named a golden retriever Cuda. When the internet started getting big (94-95) I just used that for my online ID in just about everything.
Even after Cuda died the name stuck. I did end up getting the car right after the dog. But after the dog died I lost interest in it (the car that is) and sold it.
Good news is I bought it for 8K and sold it for 56K.
I would have never thought that money pit of a car would pay for school!

There are so many cool user names. Mine very interesting.
I have been using mine for a while. It came from my 'hotmail' account which was set up years ago. Back them I was Marie Eileen Miller. I was aware of not giving out too many personal details over the net so chose my first name Marie and then my middle and last initials marie (underscore) em. I think at the time hotmail didn't allow a dash.
When I got married my surname changed from Miller to Mullen, so marie_em was still appropriate. So I am either marie_em or marie_em_uk.

What a lovely story. I am sure Cuda (the dog) was smiling down on you from doggy heaven, when you sold the car.
I have a 4 yr old (female) golden retriever Simba. They are such beautiful dogs. I don't want to even think of the future when they day comes to say goodbye to her.
I'll be looking in your gallery to see if there are layouts with doggy pics.
take care
It was about as bad as losing a "human" family member. We got all kinds of cards and a few people put nice messages in the newspaper. He was only 5 when he died.
He was also the smartest dog I have seen before or since. Now the golden I have now is dumb as a box of rocks! But she is by far the most well behaved dog I have seen so I guess we are lucky.
Whats odd is she does not retrieve and is afraid of the water, unusual for a golden.
She is VERY pretty, I like the "dark goldens" and she is almost a red color.
I am sure she will be my main subject until our new baby boy arrives in August.
One bit of advice I have for anyone that loses a loved pet. Get another one soon as possible. They dont replace what you lost but they do help replace that hole in your heart.
I waited too long as I was so upset over losing Cuda. Hayley has helped us all heal despite being nothing like Cuda.
Except of course...
The perfect pet.
I will always have goldens, they are amazing!

Hi! I was making some baby shower invitations & on the bottom of the back of the card, I thought, "It's not a Hallmark it's a nuzzmark"! Everyone call my DH & kids "nuzzy" because of our last name, so I couldn't resist!

BeadLdy
07-10-2006, 02:05 PM
I'm new to scrapbooking but not to programming or "digital" anything else. Am excited to try my hand at this. My real first name is Sue. I've been BeadLdy as long as I've been on the internet because I used to have my own jewelry business. My pieces were made from antique beads and each came with their own history card. When I would go to my shows, the people used to say "here comes that Bead Lady," so it became my online name.

Arcane means "old" which I feel most days. Faery is because I love faeries. I have them all over my home, my office, and hopefully soon, my scrapbook pages! I have a few ideas I am hoping to experiment soon, once I learn the ropes.
My brother gave me mine! When he was tiny he couldn't say Susan, so it came out Doda (Doo Duh).

My twins were born early and spent some time in the NICU. The chief neonatologist always asked for momma byrd (our last name is byrd) when he called the house to give the daily report and the name sort of stuck. BTW, it was in 2003 as if you couldn't guess that part.

Me,well...I'm a coffee-aholic. We lived in Seattle for 4 years and I became absolutely addicted! I start my day with a quad (yes, 4 shots of espresso) vanilla latte from our coffee cart at work. Some days, I drink another coffee drink from Starbucks. So vanillalatte seemed to be fitting.

Monarch
07-31-2006, 06:40 AM
I am Monarch because of the Monarch butterfly. I raise Monarch's in the summer. I pick the baby catapillers off of milk weed plants bring them in and feed them. In about 3 weeks the catapiller will form a chrysalis. In about another 2-3 weeks the Monarch breaks out of the chrysalis and dries its wings and then you release them. The catapiller will feed only on milk weed plants. The forming of the chrysalis and the hatching of the butterfly are just amazing to witness. Here is a good web page with a lot more information, http://www.monarchwatch.org/rear/index.htm

inababes
08-03-2006, 08:49 PM
Boy, this thread is long! But I thought I'd jump in and contribute.
Ina is my real life nickname, and everyone calls me that. My bestfriend in college started calling me inababes, and that's been my online username ever since then. Lately I've been registering just as Ina on online forums, but whenever it's taken (such as here), I just go back to inababes.
Oh and, Ina is pronounced ee-na, just like Ima (I noticed her signature, and I could totally relate!)

LittleBlueFuzzy
08-07-2006, 02:36 AM
LittleBlueFuzzy comes from back in the 80's or 90's, Howie Mandel had a stand-up comedy act he did, where he talked in a squeaky baby voice. One of things he did was saying "you know what, you know what, you know what?" and then he'd start talking about something totally random. The one thing I remember was him talking about a "little blue fuzzy thing" and the way he said it just stuck with me...
My real name is Michelle.

I have a baby picture I found a few years back and on the back my Mom had written "Beachnut" so I figured it a good name to use.

I often use the screen name blueroses--or some other variation of that because I'm obsessed with blue roses! Yeah, I know they do not really exist but ever since I read The Glass Menagerie (I'm a St. Louisian), I've adored the symbolism. I even had a bouquet of blue roses for my wedding.

MommySpice
09-03-2006, 08:38 PM
I've been on the internet forever...so I've gone through various usernames. the first one I had was H82W8...'cause I was quite impatient as a teen (which was when I started really hooking up to the 'net). Then, that got shortened by people to H8...hate? nah...not me. So I went to justagirl18...the 18 was a random number to make justagirl work. Fastforward a few years to when I was getting my teaching credential and living with my roomate, Tina...we decided I needed a new sn...so she came up with KansasSpice. I was from Kansas, and my friends here in Cali always called me KarafromKansas like it was one word. The Spice came from the fact that I like to cook with herbs and spices and I like to spice things up in other areas of life as well. Now its MommySpice, because I'm officially Californian now so Kansas didn't work, and I became a Mommy last August. Oh wait, its September now...okay...August 2005. :)

My name happens to reflect my passion: Children's Books. I love to find fabulous deals on children's books at used book stores, on-line, thrift stores, and the ever infamous Borders and Barnes & Noble. You may find me at the library scribbling down authors, titles, and ISBN's of books for future purposes. Afterall, why pay full price? My dream is to one day pass on my library to my own children as a heritage. I am planning on becoming a teacher after I graduate in May, and my library will find use through that venue. And of course, I would be glad to share my love of reading, plush chairs, and Earl Grey tea with you. Please pull up a cozy chair and spend the afternoon with me!

My username is PaintedRanch. I came about it about 4 years ago while creating a web site for a friend. He suggested I come up with a name so I could give myself credit for my creations.
So after much thinking on my part I came up with Painted Ranch Designs. Painted because of my paint horses & my paintings; Ranch because one day I plan on having one and Designs is obvious. Most places don't allow spaces so I opted for PaintedRanch. My creations are usually PRD labeled though.

I'm new here and have enjoyed reading all these posts about everyone's names. Mine is Jazzys Mom and comes from my almost 6 month old Golden Retriever puppy, Jasmine. Her nickname is Jazz or Jazzy and I am "her mom!"
Real name is Lynn

Late reply to your message, My name is Earla ( Earl with an uh). My dads name was Earl. This site has a lot to learn. I was detained in getting back because I have to remove some files from my computer to make room for my scrap items bummer. In the process of trying to remove them, I could not get them archived to cds because of long file names. I have use them ever since they were available. My CD burner won't take long ones. Do you happen to know of a cd burner that would allow that.
Its been nice to chat to you (of sorts) Thanks for the well come and I look forward to learning more.
Your scrap pal Earla

I chose Chalmette because that is where my boyfriend used to live before Hurricane Katrina flooded the apartment complex he lived in. (Louisiana) We have a lot of special memories there, and I figured why not carry those memories with me:}
My real name is Michelle.

I actually have 2 nicknames.....
DaughterofDarkness8 that I use on MSN Messenger and MSN Groups as well as other psp forums.
Vampyress I use on hobbies that I am really interested in learning like scrap booking.
I prefer to keep them both separate so I don't get confused.
Both nicknames are part of a Vampire forum I am in

Hi I'm Pommykiwi ....
The Pommy comes from a common term used in Australia and New Zealand to describe people from the England .. it dates back years ago and is usually spelt POME which stands for Prisoner of Mother England and was used to describe those people that the English sent to Australia as punishment!
I was born in England but have now settled in New Zealand .. hence the Kiwi bit!
I'm fairly new to scrapbooking and completely new to digital scrapbooking .. I'm hoping that will soon change! :) I joined in 2005 but then went and had a baby and he's taken up all my time since!
Mom Gone Looney

Hello. My user name is Mom Gone Looney. Well, 19 months ago I became a new mommy, I had a baby that screamed all the time due to acid reflux and no outlet away from the 24hr screaming and feeling like I was on the edge of being commited to the looney bin. One day I decided that I was getting back on the internet after being absent from it for several years. I wanted to come up with a name that was funny, yet clever and Mom Gone Looney seemed to fit. Then I did some word play from there and it became the University of Mom Gone Looney...then my emails would have the heading From the Desk Of The Chief Resident Diaper Changer as I was a stay at home Mom and it seemed as tho' I was changing diapers all the time. My real name is Marcia (pronouced like Garcia but with an M - not Marsha) I am on rock and chisel dial-up as I live in South West Ohio out in the sticks and cornfields. Highspeed internet is not available to us. I am hoping to get to download some neat stuff and become part of this community, but I tried to download something earlier and it told me that it was going to take 30 minutes and I know that my computer will lock up. Anyways, enough said...... Happy Scrappin' From the Chief Resident Diaper Changer
