Aunt Cookie
03-29-2008, 02:26 PM
My User name, Aunt Cookie, was lovingly given to me by my nephew who could not say Auntie Carol, but said Cookie instead. I have been Aunt Cookie to all my nieces and nephews since. And I love it. This nephew, Todd, was so troubled he shot himself at age 13, so I wear the name in his memory.
I´m so sorry about your nephew Todd, but this name is very cute Aunt Cookie.;)

Well, I live in a rural area, and over the last 25 years have adopted many orphaned cats and kittens. A lot of people think that you can just dump a cat in a farm field and they will automatically know how to fend for themselves. Not true! I have rescued half-starved cats and kittens from old abandoned barns, parking lots, wooded areas near my home, and even living in the air compressors of a local party store!
I currently have 21 well-loved and pampered pusycats. (no, my house does NOT smell like a litter box, they all go outside!) I can't imagine a home without cats!
PS - I almost used the name Crazycatlady, but I figured I'm not quite crazy yet!

Hmmm, heavy metal should figure in to my user name somewhere, but it doesn't. Mine is rather boring - carolat. Carola is my first name and t is the first letter of my last name. On one of the mommy sites I am a2i2mom - at that time my oldest, Alexander was 2 yrs old and my youngest, Ian, was 2 months old - the main thing with both names was to pick one that I could remember - kids ages keep changing, so now I am carolat everywhere!

PS My other internet user name is MustangBoop47. Mustang as in the car. My favorite is the GT convertible. I've had a green one and a blue one. Because of back problems I can't get in and out of them anymore ... they are too low to the ground for my back. I cried when I had to give up my Stangs. 47 is the year I was born. I'm also MustangBoop2001 the year of my first Mustang.
The Boop part is because I love all thing Betty Boop.

What's the origin of your username?
Mine is Emma, because that's my first name. NO! You don't say?! :D
But my usual one is thepals for the Powells as in we are the Powell family, your pals, THE pals! And it's pronounced the Pals, NOT theeples!
Yeah, you get it.
Many usernames are weird to say the least! How'd you come up with yours? How do you pronounce it? Would love to know, and also know your real first name!
So again, mine is thepals for the Powells, but my first name is Emma ;)
How 'bout you?
Hey There!
Well, my name is Gina and I live in Crosby, TX
That is how I came up with it!
Do you have children???? Mine are grown. I have a 1 year old grandaughter ....who is just a ray of sunshine.
I am new to the digital thing! So, if you know of anything that might be of servie to me .... Please Do Tell!!!!

I'm using my real name here only because I put it in the wrong place when I was signing up. Everywhere else in cyberspace I'm known as styxdancer. I recently had my username changed because I didn't like the one I originally signed up with. I sent an email to help@digitalscrapbookplace.com. Hi there! I'm jeepmama...but my real name is Angie.
My hubby is a Jeep freak and he's sucked me into it. We have a Rubicon-style silver Wranger now that gets lots of looks when were out and about....mostly because of the two little ones in the back.
My boys are 8 and soon-to-be 4 (Aug 31) and they love to go Jeepin'. I even rode around in it through pregnancy...talk about looks!! Imagine a hiked-up Jeep passing by with a 9-month pregnant woman in front and a car seat in the back...LOL!!!
So there you have it... jeepmama!

Defining old  here:
Well, when I was around 20 i thought everyone over 50 was old.
Now when I am 52 I feel old only when I look at myself in the mirror,
knowing my kids are over 20,
the oldest getting to 30....,
feel the pain in my feet and bones :yikes:,
noticing I forget things I SHOULD remember...:annoyed:
But I feel young in my heart and soul.....and that is the only thing that counts.....

So funny - I have never met anyone with the same name as me so I automatically assumed that when this post said "Carola" it was talking about me! Although I don't remember saying anything about old . . . So, anyway, now it makes perfect sense - you were talking to another Carola!
About the age thing - I am always the oldest or (close to it) mom in my 1st graders class and I think it totally depends on how you act and feel (although some mornings my back definitely feels my age! - 43)
idtwinmom
09-12-2008, 01:30 PM
LOL, Carola! Couldn't help replying to that!!!!
Old - when you can't stand up straight getting out of bed! And knowing there is no way any of the other Kindergartners Moms are as old as you are (almost 48 and menopausal!)
BTW, idtwinmom - twinmom was taken and twinmomplusone was too long (HeHe)! Since the twins are 'identical' = id.

I have one in Pre-K right now - can't wait until next year when we do an age comparison!
You know, when I started this user name thing mine was a2i2mom (Alexander 2yrs, Ian 2months) Well, now Alexander is 6 and Ian is 4. I figured that I would just go with my own name since my kids are going to keep getting older. So, I have carolat (Carola Tolleson)

Hi Carola.
I have not "met" many name sakes on line either.
I know of a few, but never "talked" to one.....
So - what shall we do now - how will we know which Carola they are talking to
And idtwinmom I am just a grandma, have NO kids in kindergarten ;)
I really know that about not getting up from bed -thingy.
I think I need walking sticks very soon......
mellamella

 MellaMella (Pronounced like mellow yellow except with an a = mella)
People often call me in that famous southern draw (mella yella) like the soft drink and mellamella because my real name is Carmela. I've had others call me mellow bellow because that is my disposition most of the time....not high strung just laid back and very easy-going
I like mellamella and stuck with it through the years.
supermotherof10
09-22-2008, 12:57 PM
:yahoo:My name of supermotherof10 is exactly what I am!
My husband and I have a blended family with 10 kids.
When we married in 2002 he had 5 kids ages then: 12, 11, 9, 7, and 3
and I had 3 kids ages: 8, 7 and 3
Why did we do this to ourselves????? Because we met online and fell in love. :love1::hug:
In 2004 we had our 1st daughter together and 6 weeks ago we were blessed with our second daughter (and final child!) You'd think adding to the family would make things harder but it really brought everyone together into one big blended family.
I think the laundry alone qualified me for the "super" portion of my title! Until a few years ago it should have been taximotherof10!!!
Our kids ages now are 18, 17, 15 (and learning to drive), 14, 13, 13, 9, 9, 3 AND 6 weeks
You can see our yours, mine & ours family at www.batemanfamily.org :yahoo:

And, Lou, just became my family nickname to this day..

We all know what that means in English LOL.
When I became a USA citizen I changed it to Yoka so they pronounce it right. The end is a eh sound not a ah sound. It is just easier to use my Hebrew name.
I am new here and just a beginner.

Hi, I'm MoomMist, yes there are 3 m's there you know $ money :)Actually, When I first got on the internet in '99, I was using Netscape, is it still around, I signed up and wanted to use Moonmist, but typed MoomMist by mistake, luckly at that time is was not in use. It use to sound quite amusing but now it is rather a nuisence because I've changed servers so many times that now it is mmoommist with 4 m's and try spelling that over the phone or others thinking it is a typo :yikes:I like playing on Pogo, so when I signed up there I couldn't get Moonmist, so I used winter2frost which has since been changed to winter22frost, long story there.
Oh btw, my real name is Maxine, but everyone thinks I'm joking about that
and I'm in Erie, PA where it is really Winter.

After I do that I will have to upload it and I also want to add a picture to my profile. BTW I love the one you have of the feet.
There is so much to learn to this site but I like it the best, but it is hard to learn a old dog new tricks.
Made a few pages already and it is very addictive. I told 2 friends about it and they also want to learn.
I have trouble with intructions sometimes it might as well be Chinese.
Thanks again for the link .

fourlfclvr03...as in 4 leaf clover. My husband is Irish, and in 2003 I bought a green mustang on St. Patrick's day, thought it would be funny to have a custom plate, Shamrock was taken so we decided on 4lfclvr. Username just kind of evolved from there to fourlfclvr03.

For some reason none of the combinations with my actual name worked when I tried to set up my account here so I decided on my cat's name, Valera (he's the one on the left in my avatar photo). Its a Russian name, I'm a Russian lit PhD student so Russian comes kind of second nature, but my real name is Jessika.

grammawamma
01-26-2009, 07:30 PM
Hi! This is my first post at DSP. I read how some of you got your user names, but not all 56 pages! My name came from my first grandson. When he was born, he had 10 grandmas all living w/i 15 miles! So when he started talking, he called me grammawamma. Took a while to figure where that came from but my hubby said that he might have said it using a Dr. Suess style rhyming word! Anyway, I NEVER have any problems with someone else already having my name! My real name is Carol.

I love to hear all the background on how usernames evolved for everyone. Mine came from my favorite children's picture book - Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes. I became a mom to an amazing daughter through adoption in 2007. Chrysanthemom was the perfect play on words for my username :D

Havachat
02-04-2009, 10:25 PM
Well I have just read all 56 pages of how you all chose your names...quite amazing stories, some of them.
I often look at this forum and think, "I should do that"!!! I am sure you all understand the reason for this name though!!!! So, with much time on my hands today, I will fill you all in on it.
Havachat is a name I haven't been called for 35years...been called lots of other names since..he!he!...but have been out of contact with the ones who knew me as Havachat. I was working on Brampton Island in Qld, for about 4 years off and on, and when I started, there were 4 of us Bev's...the others all had new handles, and as I was the last to arrive, I ended up with this name, which stuck. I have never needed a username before, so this was the first name I thought of.

When I retired, I went to try living in a foreign country that did not have "easy internet access". I wanted my adult kids to be able to know at a glance that I was still alive, when I could find internet access.... hence, IdaIsAlive
A few months later, I decided to get a job and move back to the USA, but I kept the username.

Warmest Aloha from Oahu!
I lived near Jacksonville and I had to pick a user name when I worked at AOL's call center in the Member Saves department. In training, I was looking at an old computer that said Windstar on it. Our user names had to be 8 or more characters long. Windstar was already chosen so I picked Zyphrstar. It's a far cry from Maggie!

Years ago when I got my first PC I was looking for a log in name and everything I came up with was taken and I didn't like their suggtestions. I was looking around the room and saw a Jazz cassette and thought of jazzie but of course it was taken so I tried jazzieal since I am from Alabama and the abbreviation is al and it was accepted..so thats how I got my user name..:)

I couldn't think of what to use, so I guess I just figured it would be fun to, umm well, you know... confuse you all. LOL! Only it backfired on me because I honestly can't spell my name backwards and whenever I have to type it to get into chat/forum/etc it truly stalls me for a moment as I have to write my name on paper and THEN type it backwards. Ahhhh ahahahahaha!!! It actually makes me laugh now.

Lorne
10-15-2009, 06:40 PM
Mine's boring, it's my real name. :)
My mom actually named me after Lorne Greene. :) She thought his name sounded "distinguished" and at the time it wasn't a common name.
My grandma gave me an old letter before she died, that my mom had written to her while I was still in the womb and she was thinking up names. It turns out if I'd been a girl, I would have been named "Christine."
I've always been really intrigued by that letter. I mean, at that point in time, I was still of indeterminate ---. I was like Schroedinger's Cat. I could have been a boy or a girl. (Heck I could have ended up both.)
I often wonder how my life would have turned out if I ended up as Christine instead of Lorne. Would I still have gone into programming? Would I have been one of the (too rare!) women programmers, or would the societal norms of the 70s and 80s have guided me into some other life?
So many questions. Would I have been a nicer person as a girl? Would I think I was pretty? Would I still have met my wife, and if so would we be friends?
Kathleen
10-15-2009, 08:05 PM
What a cool letter to have, I bet you treasure it!
Lorne
10-15-2009, 08:38 PM
What a cool letter to have, I bet you treasure it!Yeah, I do. It's a neat letter for other reasons too...I mean, it was my mom writing a letter to her mother in law (not her own mom) during the first year of her marriage, so the things she chose to write about were interesting enough without that stuff about my potential name.
MaryElizabeth
10-15-2009, 08:44 PM
Mine is pretty straight-forward, I was christened Mary Elizabeth. My second name was the one my mother chose to use and in my teens I shortened it to Liz, much to her annoyance (t'was the rebel in me I guess:yahoo:). No-one has called me Mary except for some of the Nuns at school who insisted on it. When I signed up here all the liz's-lizzie's-elizabeths were taken so I just went double-barrelled. That's as close to sophistication as I am likely to get on this earth:no:
BTW Lorne one of my best friends christened her first born Lorne and her surname is Greene.
ReneT
10-19-2009, 10:55 PM
How interesting that you were named after Lorne Greene. I used to know someone who was also named after Lorne Greene.
Lorne
10-20-2009, 12:08 PM
That's cool. :) I wonder if Lorne Greene knew he was so inspirational?
I wonder if he had trouble ordering pizza? For some reason people seem to have trouble understanding my first name over the phone. It's just one syllable, no prominant consonants. If I slow it down or exaggerate the pronunciation it ends up being spelled Lauren or something.
If my wife places an order for me to pick up, half the time if I say "I'm picking up an order for Lorne" they just stare at me blankly, then I realize she didn't spell it out, and must have used her other name for me: "oh, I meant for Lorenzo."
ReneT
10-20-2009, 01:39 PM
How funny. Yeah, the person I used to know had that kind of problem all the time too. And his last name was really different too, so that for sure didn't help. I have a similar problem in that I go by my middle name instead of my first name, so at doctor's offices and stuff like that where they call out your middle name people are always shocked to know that's not the name they know me by.
Lorne
10-20-2009, 02:59 PM
Heh, my last name is actually French, so my last name doesn't help either. French people stumble on my first name, and English people stumble on my last name. :)
Rene, that's really interesting to hear you go by your middle name. My dad did the same thing, he always went by David although for some reason his birth certificate listed it as one of his middle names...at one of his first jobs when he moved away from home, the foreman refused to call him David and instead insisted on calling him Joe, because that's what the papers said. My dad couldn't convince him that his name was "Dave."
ReneT
10-20-2009, 05:41 PM
When I had my son, I was determined that the first name I chose for him would be the name we called him and that he went by. I wouldn't even tell his grandparents what his name was going to be so that they did not have time to make up a nickname for him before he was born. I remember on the first day of school every year, the teachers would call the roll, and all the kids would laugh when they called out Connie instead of Rene because everyone knew me as Connie, so I was determined my child wouldn't go through that. Looking back on it now, it's not such a big thing, but you know how cruel kids can be.

My user name is a combo of my husband's first initial, my first initial and my married last name. I couldn't think of anything creative at the time and it was easy for me to remember for log in.
DeeAnneK
10-25-2009, 02:17 PM
DeeAnneK= Dee (husband's nick name for me) + Anne (my real middle name) + K (initial of my last name).
I have been using this name online for over 10 years. my website is DeeAnneK Designs (http://deeannekdesigns.com). I have not worked on that site for a while because I let the busyness of life crowd it out. I am working on changing that. I wanted to improve my graphic design skills, learn Photoshop and create memories so I am here as a really new scrapbooker. I have also signed up for a blogger account to chronicle the journey: DeeAnneK's Digital Delights (http://deeanneksdigitaldelights.blogspot.com/) but I have not posted there yet. I plan to start by writing about the NKOTB that has been such a wonderful learning experience for me.
I have come across others with the nick of DeeAnne but not DeeAnneK so I guess it was a good choice to add the K way back when. :)
Thanks,
Denise

My name is Christina, shortened to Tina by family and friends and then lovingly adorned to tinabee by my doting and ridiculously awesome father :D

Digimom2008
11-19-2009, 08:02 AM
Hi....I'm brand new here and this is my first post...gotta start somewhere eh.
My name is Digimom2008. I came up with the name years ago when my daughter was
young and liked to watch Digimon. I like the "Digi" part because digital is what I am all about with being a graphic designer of 20+ years (yup, started before there were computers). And of course I changed the "mon" to "mom" because ...I am a mom of
a beautiful 13 year old daughter who is my greatest joy in life, inspires me, and keeps
me young. I had to add the "2008" because other people have taken Digimom in different places I've subscribed. Adding the 2008 usually works so I stuck with it.
