Emma

What's the origin of your username?

Mine is Emma, because that's my first name. NO! You don't say?! :D
But my usual one is thepals for the Powells as in we are the Powell family, your pals, THE pals! And it's pronounced the Pals, NOT theeples!
Yeah, you get it.

Many usernames are weird to say the least! How'd you come up with yours? How do you pronounce it? Would love to know, and also know your real first name!

So again, mine is thepals for the Powells, but my first name is Emma ;)
How 'bout you?

4jacks4me
05-01-2004, 07:27 PM
4jacks4me -- I am owned by 4 jack russell terriers - yes FOUR! You have to be crazy to have 4 Jacks. We started out with Buster and 2 years later added Babs. Together they added Harley Jackson & Trakker Jaxx. Since we just had the 2 pups we kept them. So now we have more dogs than people living in our house. The good thing is I don't have to worry about my family asking me to host thanksgiving, easter, christmas, etc. We don't get many visitors - but we wouldn't have it any other way.

My real name is Mary.

Col Coon
05-01-2004, 07:46 PM
My user name (Col Coon) comes from some family nicknames. Col is sort for Colonel. I play Army with my brothers a lot and we all have ranks mine is a Colonel. :) The coon part is because I have a coon skin hat I used to wear a lot. I also have a friend who calls me, "the Coon" I thouht about useing my real name (Emma) but there already was a Emma on here.

05-01-2004, 07:49 PM
Well, I got mine because my name is Valeri.. how boring huh?

mekstamper
05-01-2004, 08:07 PM
MEK is really my initials and at the time I adopted the handle mekstamper my first hobby was rubber stamping! I first started scrapbooking years ago - a decade ago actually but I got tired of the limitations at the time so I set it aside. Then almost six years ago I started rubber stamping. I loved it! I stamped everything. One day it clicked - I could stamp in my scrapbooks! Then I got back into scrapbooking in a big way. Only last fall did I learn of digital scrapbooking. I think the rest of the story is obvious!

Col Coon is Emma? COOL coon! NOt so many over the age of 5! I'm 27 and a lone Emma. Fidelis is Emma too, but she's English and I think it's a bit more common there for people my age! My mom grew up in England, so that's how I got it in between the grammas and babies!
Wonder how Fidelis got her name?

nc_josie
05-01-2004, 08:25 PM
Mine is nc_josie
My name is Jo Ann and a friend started calling me Josie a few years ago and I found that there were a few more Josie's on the net so I stuck nc in front cause I am from North Carolina

Mine's femsawyer! One of my favorite hobbies...(up until I found digital scrapbooking) was woodworking. I have an 12X10 shed that houses all of my woodworking tools. Hubby is not allowed to touch them!!!! Anyway, when I first got on the internet, I wanted something to do with woodworking, but most woodworkers out there are male...so had to add the fem to it. I also sometimes go by femsplinter.
That's my story - and by the way...hubby loves telling everyone that he gets to buy me power tools for Christmas, birthdays and anniversaries!

PS - Real name is Lianne :p

Well...I really am imaginative but you wouldn't know by my username :-) I figure not too many people have my name so it was safe to use that and I like to keep things simple for logging into all the sites I need to use a username for! :p I also go by wwwebgurlie which is the screename I've used for about 6 or 7 years. That was when I was addicted to the the internet and would be on all the time!! :D Now I'm only addicted to 1 thing digiscrapping :p

luv2skidoo
05-03-2004, 12:32 PM
well mine user name came about almost as a joke. When hubby and I decided to get married we chose the year 2000 because (and I'm serious about this) we loved the color of the new ski-doo snowmobiles (purple and silver) so we planned our wedding around those colors (which are my favs anyways) and we decided to have a wedding on March 4th so that we could leave the church on snowmobiles.

We decided to have ppl respond to our wedding via email and since we both love to ski-doo (ride our snowmobiles) that's the name we came up with. We contacted ski-doo and told them our color plans and a week later a 4' x 24' banner arrived from them with SKI-DOO and color splashes to match the colors from our wedding. (That banner hung over our head table at the recption.) A few days after that I received a call from the marketing director and she told me that the day before the wedding the local ski-doo dealer would be dropping off 2 brand new prototype sleds for us to use for the weekend for pictures and to ride. Needless to say "I was da' bomb" according to my hubby. He was absolutely THRILLED to say the least.

Unfortunately although we usually have plenty of snow in March - 3 days before our wedding all the snow melted and the day we got married it was 65 degrees! We didn't get to ride the sleds but we took plenty of pictures and our getaway from the church was driving our pickup with the snowmobiles on the trailer, lol.

The luv2skidoo name has stuck with us ever since.

great story! bummer on the snow tho!
i've been scrapster for a while. still have www.scrapster.com. i wanted to be someone more exciting than margie, so i tried scrapster, who indeed did have more fun! then in starting this site, we felt like we should be real people, so we're all using our names. so now i'm back to boring margie. tho life's not been boring since about 2001. :D

sskFlyer
05-03-2004, 11:05 PM
Mine came after a lot of headscratching about a year ago, when I started using IM. My sister had it easy...Col Coon. But, it was more difficult for me. We finally decided on "ssk" since they are my initials and "Flyer" since I have always LOVED aviation and flying.
As a note, my friends call me the "Gorilla".
My real name is Samuel Kordik, and I am mekstamper's son, and Col Coon's brother. I started out doing desktop publishing after an intensive course in it a couple years ago. I really latched onto PS (version 4 then) and worked through the entire PS4 Wow book. I was hooked. When my mom was at a Blessed Memories scrapbooking retreat that Margie Lundy spoke at, she emailed me some stuff about it, and I had to try. The rest, they say, is history.
-sskFlyer (Samuel Kordik) a.k.a. "THe Gorilla"

I recieved my user name from a friend who introduced me to digital scapping.
She signed me into a site at first I was embarrassed :o {not knowing what I was getting into} now I think it's pretty normal considering what we all get up to here.

Cris
05-04-2004, 12:24 AM
Well, mine here at DSP is my name (middle actually, short for Cristina) but some may know me as inahayes, which is because I can be kinda lame at times (ie, I am "in a haze"). You know the type; book-smart but ditzy (at times). For example, I was watching Oprah last year and when my dh came home, I couldn't wait to tell him about these poor people who lost millions in their retirement funds when their company got indicted for fraud. Well, the company was Enron and it was months after the news broke so he just shook his head and asked me when I was going to take mine out of my you know what :o
It's so funny how people read these usernames. I can't tell you how many times I'd get comments to "Ina", as if that was my 1st name. I never corrected anyone because I kinda enjoyed the giggle ;)
Anyway - I also realized [later] that *ina* is actually the last 3 letters in Cristina as well, so it fits all the way around I guess :)
Very interesting that so many family members are here :) I am the lone computer scrapper of my family, although I am swaying an aunt to try it...

I got my name just because I couldn't think of anything else to use. I'm a mama of two girls 5.5 and 7, and I made the switch to computer scrapping cold turkey last November I think it was. I've been scrapbooking for so long now so the name just fit. Not to exciting....

Emma I'm so glad you started this thread! I've been thinking about it for ages and just never followed through. I've always been curious about some of the usernames I see.

As Margie said - we're using our real names (Sandi) but I go by scrappinsandi.
I hope to read some more interesting stories about usernames.

Rhoda Jayne
05-04-2004, 10:07 PM
My real name IS NOT Rhoda Jayne. Actually it's Rhoda Elisabeth. When my dh & I were dating, his mom would tease him about Rodney Wayne going to see Rhoda Jayne. On our first Valentine's Day as a married couple, I put an ad in the paper saying "Rhoda Jayne loves Rodney Wayne". My dh has carried that in his billfold for 19 years now!
So for 20 years now I've been known as Rhoda Jayne or RJ by my dh & his family. Even my own family calls me that now! My 22 year old calls me MIZ Jayne.
Guess what. I can sign up on any internet site as Rhoda Jayne. There's not another one ANYWHERE!
Our 20th anniversary is next month. Any ideas on what I can do with the Rhoda Jayne & Rodney Wayne theme? I'm putting it on the radio for sure.
(And now you know the rest of the story......)

I know there are lots of photoedit programs out there, but I fell in love with PSE after graduating up to it from PhotoDeluxe. I just love the way it does things and I'm completely monogamous!! :p It's kind of cool to see how much it can really do. I've bought Hidden Power of PSE but haven't read the first page yet...maybe this summer???

Who knows, maybe someday I'll move on up to PS, but since I can't afford it it will have to be an older version from ebay ;) !

BTW, my name's Judy. Hi everybody!!

SnowMoon is our kennel name...decided on that when we joined the Samoyed Club of America. The first two dogs that started our road into the dog world were born on Valentines Day. The February full moon is the Snow Moon...and both my husband and I love snow and especially the full moon on snow...so it all fit.

My husband got me interested in muscle cars and drag racing some 15 years ago. My favorite car is a 1968 metallic blue Chevrolet Chevelle SS...I could go on further with more details...but it might bore some of you. Thence...the name (I had to come up with something when I signed up for an e-mail account). Right now I have my dream car sitting in my garage; however, it's only there because it belongs to a friend and we're doing some work to it for him. BUMMMER! It's still neat that the neighbors think it belongs to us though :D

Oh man...what torture :p Well at least you get your dream car up close & personal for awhile...mine is down at the lot and they don't let me spend time with it anymore ;) :p hehe...

05-07-2004, 06:07 AM
Many years ago we wanted to give our pet wolf an Indian name. I contacted the Napa Historical society and they put me in touch with a woman who was an expert on the Wappo Indians. She had a lot of literature about the Wappo Indians and looking down a list of words we came upon "Canay". It translated into "One and Only". Our wonderful pet was surely one of her kind and we picked this name. All though Canay is no longer with us her memory will remain forever. Since scrap booking is a way to preserve memories forever I have chosen the name "Canay" for my on line scrap booking "alias"...

My "real" name is Mary

It's been fun reading everyone's stories!

Sybrina
05-15-2004, 09:20 AM
My username online has been Sybrina for at least 9 or 10 years now. My real name is Tammy. When I was first getting into chat rooms I wanted to use my Cat's name she was a rotten evil hymalyan that my Dh saved when she was just a baby, also I wanted a name that didn't require a # after it .. like tammy19887773939. well Sabrina was way to common so I played the spelling and came up with Sybrina, I have only ran across maybe one or two other people that spell it that way. :) I love it when people correct the spelling as if I spelt it wrong  I just laugh and don't say anything. I have used Sybrina online for so long now that if I type in my real name it looks and feels funny. LOL

The pic attached is a sigtag I used with Sabrina's Picture She is no longer with us.

Some of the names are well thought out. Mine: Stanpix, I had to come up with a copyright name quickly so hence Stan for me and pix for picture, I just have to add the year and like someone else here, no one had the name. One quick question? (17) you told us how you got the name but not your name.

dinotien
05-18-2004, 04:23 AM
My dad passed away two years ago, 3 weeks before my marriage to my actual hubby. We watched the flinstones as kids, and my dad used to call me dino. Tien means ten in dutch (I am dutch speaking), and that is because my mom used to treat me like I counted for ten.
So it should be dinoten but it has become dinotien because the dutch part.

My real name is Catherine Lucas :) :) :)

this username is brand new for this place, and I think I'll use it more I'm liking it so much :) I have the three most beautiful kids is why :D but i'm really trudy, I love my name but don't like using it as a username since it adds 30 years to my age!

Kristen
05-21-2004, 06:00 AM
Another non-creative name here<g> I've been kskold since I first got online. Only once (on ebay) have I found someone who grabbed it first. With a last name like Skold, there's not a whole lot of competition<g> Especially since my sisters got married...

The K stands for Kristen - although I get called Kirsten and Kristin a lot, and Karen more often than you'd think<g>

The name's Swedish. It lost a J and an umlaut coming through immigration<g> It had been Skjöld. Pronounced, according to Grandpa, as fwil.

An interesting topic!

Well, since I posted this I got invited to be a moderator, and the fashion for the team is to go with first names. So - kskold became kristen.

hobby of fashion doll makeovers.

My mom does this! She doesn't paint the faces, but makes and sells clothing and sewing and knitting patterns for Cissy, Kitty, Alex, and Jean and a few others. Her site is here:
http://home.comcast.net/~deezdollz/

Looks like fun, but I'm just not into dolls! I prefer sewing for real people :p

BTW, she also makes quilts, her site for that is here:

Emma I only did this for the Barbie dolls although I own Jackie, Marilyn, Tyler Diana, Julia, Gene and some others that are 15 1/2". I did the hair, make-up, beaded designed gowns and all jewelry. It was a lot of fun but really time consuming. Plus my collection was adding up so I gave my MIL and family a lot of my work. I never got into selling since I did it for fun. I still own quite a few but do more scrappin these days.

blessedbyGod
06-01-2004, 11:01 AM
Well, mine's not too hard... I am sooo blessed by GOD that I chose that name to brag about how GOOD God has been to me... :D (I originally wanted to be TrulyBlessed but when I first started on another site, that name was already used... I now use blessedbyGod b/c I can't handle having diff names for diff sites lol!) Really simple, huh? ;)

06-22-2004, 12:27 PM
I really wish I had just tried to use my real name here. Tedxanmama is so hard to remember, but thankfully my computer remembers most of my usernames for me :P "Ted" is my oldest son (3 years!) and Xander ("Xan") is my second son (he's 15 months) And I am their "mama" I used to be Tedsmama a lot but felt bad for Xander, so i used his name here as well. I hope to have lots and lots of kiddoes, so in 15 years I may have the longest username on the internet :D

By the way...I'm Lindsey :) You can call me Linz too, Emma does.

Schmoopy
06-22-2004, 03:37 PM
Hmmm ... I was sure I posted this before, but it isn't showing up, so chances are I just "dreamed" it!

Schmoopy -- dh has called me schmoopy since we started dating, one of those icky sappy ridiculous pet names. When we got our first computer years and years ago he registered everything as schmoopy and it just kind of stuck. Jerry Sienfeld came along and used it in his show "no you're schmoopy" and we laughed and laughed!

That is the origin of Schmoopy -- I also liked schmoopsy-poo in Monsters Inc.

Stace.

AfterMath
09-12-2004, 12:47 PM
I found this old thread while I was doing a search and thought it might be fun to resurrect it for those of us who are newer around here. I especially enjoyed reading about "luv2skidoo" - I always figured it was a reference to Blue's Clues! ;)

As for mine, I have a BS (ha, ha) in math and have used the name "mathlady" for a long time. I was trying to think of something new to use, and since I got married right after college and quit working to have kids shortly thereafter, I figured this is my life "after math." When I asked DH which one he liked better, he said, "Well, AfterMath sounds like Mathlady's arch nemesis. I like the eeeeeevviillll one!" So for better or worse I listened to him. I also go by "jkb13" and "jennR8R" (as in the jenn-erator, a silly nickname from high school) in some places.

Can't wait to hear about the rest of you!

Boy, I could have sworn that I posted a reply way back in May when this started but I can't find it, so here goes...

My real name is Andrea but no one ever calls me that unless they're angry with me (and then it has to sound like ANNNNNDRRRRRREEEEEEAAAAAAAA to sound exactly like my mom). Everyone has always called me Andy - even my husband although he got a few strange looks from some co-workers when he told them he was marrying an Andy - and the "apc" is just my initials.

*sigh* - no one could ever accuse me of being original

Would you believe I am going to be 40 years old this coming March 14th?

Els
09-17-2004, 03:11 PM
My username is Els because that's my first name

I have a few usernames for different sites, but try to keep things not too complicated or I won't remember... I am also known on the web as ElsGray, Libra76, and cuddles. There, now you all know my secrets ;)

I picked Els for this site because I am actually getting sick of not being known for who I am IYKWIM. I mean, it just doensn't sound personal to me when people reply to one of your posts with 'Hi Libra76' And I figured chances were high that this username wouldn't be taken...

By the way, Sandra, you look way younger than 40, believe me!!

Cheers!

PS - Sandra there's nothing wrong with being 40 - better than the alternative! :-)

Well, I was given my nickname at work because I used to wear lots of bling and make funny noises with my mouth in the style of Justin Timberlake - lol. Anyway, my full title at work is actually MC Val Der Re and my friend is called the Scratchmaster after she got caught her car on the gates at work.

My user name came from my web-site business and my dislike for my real name Tracey. My brothers both have cool names Ross & Wade. I don't think Mom had a girl name picked out and she just named me!! ;o)
My friends all call me Trace!
Haley (Hal-ee) was suppose to be after the Halley's Comet, but I am blonde and mistyped it when doing my domain name so it stuck as Haley.
But then do a search on google and a lot of people are spelling it wrong!!
Just added the 64 for my birth year!
I am 40 and life is only getting better and better I almost can't wait for 60!! :p

I guess visual and tactile is not my main creative side. Most people know me for my music, and that is why I am melodiustenor... tenor because that's the part I sing in barbershop, and melodius because I always am. ( how do you do a brag sign!) No, really, pretty good musically, but I actually play keyboard mostly and second as singer.
I have an artistic side, even though I was pushed to accounting as a profession.

Anyway, my full title at work is actually MC Val Der Re and my friend is called the Scratchmaster after she got caught her car on the gates at work.

Hi, I get MC, but what does Val der Re refer to? and what is bling? Is that lots of flash stuff?
Does Justin Timberlake make funny noises with his mouth, apart from singing?

I should be called scratchmaster too, I took my daughter to the airport at 4am, and in pitch black departure at home backed into a horrid scratch attack with my son's car! My car is worse than his... but shame, first ever accident for me... what name will they come up for me next week!

How did I get my nickname - well, my name is Valerie, when I was born my Mum and Dad were wondering what to call me and at the time - long, long time ago in black and white days - there was a song out called "The Happy Wanderer" which went like this - "I like to go a-wandering along the mountain tracks and when I go I like to take my knappsack on my back - Val der re, Val der ra, Val der re, Val der ra ra ra ra ra" and so on. Please don't ask me who sang it, anyway they heard it and decided to call me Valerie. I told them at work and although I am the oldest in the office I liked all the up to date music out at the time and so they were all messing about saying how 'hip' and 'cool' I was. I also liked jewellery and so they coined my nickname as MC Val Der Re.

Judyy
01-22-2005, 10:31 AM
My username is an example of a bad nickname that stuck. My real first name is Judy, but when I was in the Navy, Bad JuJu was my radio call sign--sort of a nickname you use when you're talking on the radio. You don't usually get to choose your own call sign--oh, no, that would be too easy--usually somebody senior comes up with it. So I got Bad JuJu--lucky me!

Anyway, in the spirit of embracing what irks me and making it my own, I now use this call sign as forum username. I'm learning to love it!

The first thing I did with my first computer in 1992 was load on SimCity (simulation game) and the second was to get internet access. I could tell that along with my passion for Penguins, the Sim thing was going to last so I became SimPenguin. 12 years later, I couldn't have picked a better name for myself - it's still perfect!

Gee, my real name is Lianne too...Actually, Lianne, I was hoping you'd share your username with us in here, it's one of those I have often wondered about! I thought it was for Melody Ustenor like that was your name, because unless it's a foreign language or a wacky acronym I just could NOT come up with an alternative...what IS it? :D

Until recently when our knees started to give us trouble my husband and I loved biking and we own recumbent bikes. People who ride recumbents are called "bent riders" and we call regular bikes "wedgies". Needless to say we get a lot of comments when we ride them, but boy are they comfortable. There is a photo of us riding on this layout. bentrider was too long for most usernames so it got shortened to bentrdr.

Hi Gang, My Name is MA #3...Mary Ann is my Real name the #3 Represents Our 3 Children, ( since We Lost our youngest Son Scotty and His Favorite NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt...I Use the #3 in Honor of them) I also have the #3 Tatto Over my Heart.

LadyAdina
01-25-2005, 03:30 AM
My full real name is Linda Adina Maritha (although it should be Maritha Linda Adina since I'm sometimes mistaken for being called Linda). Adina wasn't mine from birth, but when I was about 13-15 years I got interested in my ancestors, and so my grandma told me alot about her mother, whose name was Adina. I fell so in love with the name that I actually added it to myself.

I haven't used it online until I not too long ago developed a very strong interest for the regency era, and who's not wanted to be a lady in beautiful dresses and accompanied by handsome gentlemen...?

So then LadyAdina was born! :D

clikchic
01-29-2005, 02:06 AM
My dad passed away two years ago, 3 weeks before my marriage to my actual hubby. We watched the flinstones as kids, and my dad used to call me dino. Tien means ten in dutch (I am dutch speaking), and that is because my mom used to treat me like I counted for ten.
So it should be dinoten but it has become dinotien because the dutch part.

My real name is Catherine Lucas :) :) :)

Nice to see another dutch speaker! My parents are both dutch and migrated to Australia before I was born. We spoke english at home but I managed to pick up a fair bit when they were talking to each other thinking we wouldn't understand them! LOL

Then when I finished school I spent a year in Holland getting to know my huge extended family over there and I spoke Dutch that whole year which really did wonders for my Dutch skills.

I will post my username story shortly....

There! Finished reading all the replies now! LOL

It is interesting to see where all the usernames are from!

I have only started using clikchic over the last few years because it took me ages to think of it! For ages I went by robyngo (cut down version of my full name) but I always found it boring and wanted something that better reflected me.

So one day I was trying to think of a new username for ebay (I buy and sell a lot on ebay) and clikchic came to me... unfortunately on ebay clikchic was taken so I had to use clik*chic but I prefer to use clikchic.

I like it because I have a photography background... it has been a while but I LOVE working in the darkroom.. tho now the way digital is going I am not sure I will ever get back into it! I have partially completed my diploma in photography and hope to get back to it one day. Anyway... I love clik because it stands for clicking the shutter on a camera as well as clicking the mouse... and I love chic because well I am one and also because our business name is Chic Upholstery (as in shabby chic not as in baby chicken)

I am a huge computer addict and photography is my long time hobby so it all fits me perfectly and I LOVE going by clikchic... Unfortunately tho it is not always free on forums or other areas of the web etc which is disappointing but then I just throw in the asterisk.

Oh and my real name is Robyn :-)

I usually use "skulldrinker" as you can see from my avatar but I thought that might be a little to much for here so I used "tshirt" and that's on my Harley license plate because I am a t-shirt screenprinter amoung other things.

Lianne
Hi Lianne,

Yes bike stuff and other stuff. Mostly what ever the customer wants or brings to me. One job might be the local tuckpointer and the next might be the local tow truck company. Usually the art is what they have since I am no artist. I can't don't come close to creating art like the Nascar or Drag Racing or Bike Week artists make. However the terrible samples they sometimes bring to me which have to end up looking great on t-shirt come close to being a miracle. An art all by itself in taking their logo and doing a layout with nice fonts getting it all just right. I also cut and apply vinyl to vehicles and signs. Also embroidery which I contract out. I want an embroidery machine real bad but they cost so much.

If your son is interested in that industry then he simply must check out this great web and forum at.

http://boards.screenprinters.net/

It is the best. I would have to say that it's equivalent to that industry as this forum is to Scappin'

Edited- I forgot this forum which is comprised of the best artists around. Cars bikes and whatever. Your son would like to see some of works from these people.

02-12-2005, 05:20 PM
I just made my very first post at this site a couple of hours ago, so I must be on a roll here :p . My user name is jennijenni, I chose it because I'm a child of the eighties. Well, I was a teenager in the eighties let me put it that way. Those of you who came of age in the same decade probably remember that song by a group named Tommy TuTone called "8675309" (JenniJenni who can I turn to.... :) ). I thought it would make a fun user name!

Biddy
02-15-2005, 04:36 AM
My User name 'Biddy' was given to me as a child by my late father. Well it is a shortened version of it. He used to call me 'Biddy Nooks'. My son and husband had gotten hold of it and come up with all kinds of variations of it  IddyBiddy; Bidsley and The Bids are to name a few.

But I have shortened it to just Biddy

I know I am going to love this site as I have just discovered digital scrapbooking by accident, and I already am spending way to many hours on the computer because of it. The site looks fantastic and I'll be back all the time with Questions as I am just starting to use Photoshop Elements 3 [probably bitten off the thick end of the log first up] and it is about as clear as mud at present, most aspects of it anyway

It sure takes a while to read 6 pages of posts, so I thought I'd help make it 7!

My real name is Hayley, named after my Grandma Haley and my mom's favorite actress at the time, Hayley Mills.

Once upon a time I could use my real name anywhere and be an original, but with its popularity these days with the computer raised generations, I had to start getting creative. I used to use "redcomet" for Halley's comet and I'm a natural redhead (my elementry school janitor used to call me "Big Red"). After trying every variation of that on some website I was trying to register at, I gave up and checked their suggestion list.

After disregarding haystack, I went with a variation on halo so that it looked abit more like my name and added some birthday info. I also liked it because it is a vague ties to the past nickmanes of red (halo of red hair) and comet (halo of light). Signs of a compulsive disorder somewhere here?

Anyway I use it quite a bit so if you see haylo1573 elsewhere it's probablely me :)

Over here it was on TV news that some woman (whose name also is Jenny) waited 10 years for that number to become available for her car license plates. The TV station did a little interview thingy with her and showed the plates on TV. She was happy as a "pig in a poke" whatever that means....

Well, mine is souperscrapper.

I tried using just scrapper first, but it was already taken. Then I tried superscrapper - but it was already taken, so I tried a variation on the word "super". That one worked...

I also have 6 children to keep fed, so the "soup" has a double meaning.

I have to keep a log of who I am on various sites because different names are already taken on each one.

My real name is Kelly

Read your reply :) . I wasn't as happy as a pig in a poke with my user name but I think I can explain the meaning of the phrase. It's probably a southern thing- a poke means a sack or a bag and I read somewhere that when a farmer buys a baby pig and transports him to his house that it's better to do it in a sack because it feels secure there. Kind of like putting blinders on horses when taking them through a situation that might cause them stress (did you ever see Gone with the Wind- the big fire towards the end, Rhett, Scarlett, and the horse with the blindfold on? :) ). I use jennijenni everywhere I go online and so far no one else was using it yet although I'm always amazed by all the variations of Jennifer on different sites. Actually, I take that back, I think there was already a jennijenni on e-bay so I became jennijennijj instead. ANYWAY just a little piece of pig in a poke trivia for those who are interested in southern colloquialisms (which I probably just totally misspelled :) .

Cupcake
02-27-2005, 05:29 PM
Hi,

My name is Vicki and I live in Pleasant Grove, UT. I am am so far below newbie I will have to work and study to get that far. I was so blown away when I discovered this site. Since then I have totally changed my ideas about scrapbooking. I am excited to start taking classes and learning. I got my name after having a slew of grandsons my daughter adopted a little girl. I started calling her cupcake as a pet name. Well when she started talking I would say goodbye cupcake and she would say (of course) goodbye cupcake. Her older brothers thought that was so cute they started telling her to say goodbye to grandma cupcake...it spread to my other grandkids and well I guess the rest is history.

I used to make jewellery and sell it at the weekend markets. There were a sweet group of kids who used to sit and watch me making peices at my stall and they had trouble remembering my name, Megan ;) , and so what do you think they called me? - the Silver Lady :)

It was kinda endearing and it just stuck, so now I am SilverLady

Samara
03-05-2005, 08:46 AM
I don't know why it has taken me so long to reply to this thread, but it's time now!!!

I'm Luv2Crop and have been ever since I started with the internet and message boards.

For the most part I'm Luv2Crop at just about every scrappin' message board out there, except at Two Peas...when they redid our names (a few years ago) I lost it, so now I'm Samara aka Luv2Crop or Luv2Crop aka Samara... (I can never remember which one!)

I picked the name because I love to scrapbook... Now that I'm pretty much all digi, it still works!

I guess I could become LuvPixels or LuvPSE or even LuvDSP, but for now I'll stay Luv2Crop!

Sorry that I rambled....it's early and I'm tired.

I got that name because some friends used to talk about things I didn't want to hear, so I would put my fingers in my ears and say "nanananananana!" :p! Lynn is my middle name and the 63 is NOT my age! (but it does have something to do with it... :)

I am very new to scrapping, actual and digital. My friend at work got me hooked on digital photography, then scrapbooking and finally digital scrapping! I am currently making a birthday calendar for my family. We are so large that we need reminders about those special events. It is going well and I will post it when I am done.

Oh, and my real life name?

Riyallyn was one of my favorite characters (a bunch of us sat in a history class one night trying to come up with her name, and then figuring out how to spell it). I started using it online cause it is really easy to get "my" name on forums and in MMORPG's (multiplayer online games).

My real name is Erica.

mine is lunafaerie because i love the moon and i love faeries. i usually spell faerie the way my favorite artist brian froud spells it. i'm sometimes called spiritmoon, which is essentially the same thing, but belive it or not, lunafaerie is sometimes taken and spiritmoon isn't. go figure. anyway, i'm new here. i've been trying to scrapbook for years, with no luck. cause i'm positively addicted to my computer. so i think i've found my niche. i'm excited to get started. i'm so glad i found all of you. :)

Hi everyone!
I'm not too imaginative either! my name is Carine and I was born in 1961. I was so surprised to find other people with my name, because up until I first went online (circa 1993, yes i remember when it was all text based!), I had never known of anyone with my name spelled the way I do. It's pronounced "ka - reen" like careen around a curve! I am very sporadic about my scrapbooking so if I go awhile with out a post, I'm just in a lull!

whammabunny
06-07-2005, 12:37 PM
I usually choose one of two userids. My id most of the time is tilia4him, which comes partly (tilia) from a story I wrote in college as an escape from the daily grind of it all, and the 4him is reflecting my faith. I started using whammabunny after I got married, and we started trying to have a baby. It started out as wannabmmy, but in another forum that I don't read anymore, someone misread it and replied in the thread to whammabunny. When we finally got pregnant, I thought it fit, so now I use it.

Wow this is the loooongest thread I've ever read in one sitting, and now I can't remember a username OR a real name OR what name goes with UN!!! :p

Anyway, my username came from my name, "jo", and I added "gurl" because I'm the only girl in my family. It's always raining men in my life: husband and three sons. :)

Mine's oh-so-original...

Alliani is my last name (firt name's Lori  ). It works for a user name, though, since there aren't any other Allianis in the U.S. besides DH's parents, and they aren't on the 'net to be able to steal my name! :D I have a few other UNs, but sometimes I forget them which makes signing onto a forum kinda difficult sometimes! lol

Obviously I'm still sifting thru old threads.

Tara
06-18-2005, 04:52 PM
In college, a friend used to make up silly rhyming songs and wanted my name to fit better with her rhymes...so she started calling me Tara Sue (my real name is just Tara...pronounced Tera). It evolved into Tara-me-Sue (Tiramisu), Suester, etc. And people who know me from that era still call me some derivation!

Orange is my favorite ugly color. Yes - I used to think it was ugly and (back then) I felt like it was under-represented. So I adopted it as "my favorite ugly color." I am now the owner of a million orange things from Orange CareBears, to orange dresses and purses, orange tinted sunglasses, etc. It has become my signature color...even though it is much more popular now.

So I put them together and use OrangeSue for fun!

this is a really interesting thread!!

alamodedesigns
06-25-2005, 12:24 PM
alamodedesigns is my nickname. No, I'm not from Texas, but from Wyoming. When I was doing webdesign, I needed a name for my company. I chose alamodedesigns that to mean you didn't have to choose a package deal you could randomly pick items. Hence alamodedesigns and use it as nick and username most everywhere on the net. Mainly so I won't forget what I use. I'm getting old--don't have alzhemiers but could be approaching it soon. Love this site and have learned so many things and have so much more to learn.

Real name is Barbara--like Barb the best.

bump·kin
n. An awkward, unsophisticated person; a yokel.

I'm from KY and I'm unsophisticated. Don't give two flips about which side of the plate the fork goes on, and really now, do we NEED to dirty more silverware up just to have a special fork for the salad? Someone (ie MOM) has to wash all those things you know :p

Oh wait, I do hold my pinky out while drinking tea, does that count as sophisticated ;)

Elenelle
07-20-2005, 09:15 AM
I'm Elenelle, because it's my name... and one that my parents seem to have concocted out of nowhere, at that. My family's Welsh, and as far as I can gather, the name is a combination of two Welsh names. My brothers got off lightly really, having been given the somewhat standard names of Edward and Michael.

Usually I go by either Ellie or Lene, but online I tend to stick to my actual name because it's unusual and therefore unlikely to have been used by anyone else.

I'm French and in France, if you are the 1st born grandchild, they insist on giving you a first name + the names of your grandmothers (grandfathers if you happen to be a boy!), my user name is a combination of my 3 names "au" is for Aude, "ber" stands for Bernadette and well "o" is for the last one which I really dislike because it is terribly old fashion, but I had to add it otherwise I would have had to share my user name with a Parisian tube station... Who wants to be called like a tube station, you tell me ?

hawaiianbrat96....

Well, first off - I am hawaiian. LOL

Second, I once went by "hawaiiangirl96" - but that was a bit innocent for me - so I picked "brat" instead - it kind of spoke up for my slight attitude I can get.

96 - Well, that is my HS grad year!

The 42 is not my age yet....I've got 4 more years. ;) 42 is the answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe & Everything (any Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy fans here?) Since it is the Ultimate Answer, I use it whenever I need to modify my name.

cat_woman
08-15-2005, 10:58 PM
I acquired the handle "Catwoman" because I love cats. I have two cats, rather they have (tolerate) me. Their names are Mimi & Kinko. I've had them since they were each 4 months old and they are now 10 years old. Mimi is a munchkin cat - they're bred for the gene for dwarfism so they have very short little legs and are very affectionate. Kinko is a fluffy tabby with a kinked tail (hence the name) - this too is the result of a special gene. I guess you could say I have genetically deformed cats, but I love them to death just the same. :) This is my first scrapbook page, a picture of my cats of course:

Hi. My nick Polly Ester came after someone else on the net several years ago... I borrowed it... because I think it was a funny nickname.

I usually use the nick wander - which is some of my first and some of my last name... I wanted to use something different here.

My real name is Wenche...

I teach technoloy to grades K through 5. One little Kindergartener said to me, "I know who you are! You're the compooper teacher!"

It's a good name to use because I've never had trouble getting it to work as a screen name when I've joined a new site.

Of course, one of the places I visit (http://p066.ezboard.com/bconstantinerocks) (I'm a big fan of Constantine Maroulis) has some crazy ladies who have shortened my name to pooper!

allfortiny
08-25-2005, 12:38 PM
My username is not so creative, but it is heartfelt. We changed ISP's just after dd#1 was born and I had to come up woth a new e-mail addy. I used to call her my "tiny angel" so I chose "allfortiny." I like to keep the same ID from place to place since people I know from elsewhere online will recognize me. I thought of changing the name now that I have another dd, but the sentiment is still the same, just X2. :-) My real name is Julie.

I have been working at learning digital editing for maybe a year now and only a few months ago thought to put that together with scrapping. I am LOVING it!

Julie, a.k.a. allfortiny

Biffylady
08-28-2005, 12:39 AM
I got the nickname "Biffy" years ago in 7th grade. A boy in my class said that I looked like Buffy from "Family Affair". Well, I HATE that name and threatened to beat him up if he didnt change it. (Yes, I was a bully! haha) He changed it to Biffy, and it's been with me ever since. There seems to be a rock group named "Biffy", so that name was taken everywhere I went. I decided to add "lady" to the end, for obvious reasons. ;)

My husband has recently started calling me "Sweetheart Ladybug", but it's rather long to use as a screenname. :p

I like to cook and spend alot of time in the kitchen. At the time I started on the internet this was my big hobby along with collecting vintage cookbooks. Now I'm into scrapping and have just discovered digiscrapping. Most of all it allows me to get back into my photography.

LindaBelle
10-26-2005, 01:20 AM
No matter where I go there always seems to be too many Linda's...and they're almost always about my age. I can remember being in classes at school with 5 Linda's in the room, pretty good when there were only 30 students total.

When I got interested in Renaissance faires and became an official "wench" I had to pick a name, so I came up with Belle because it means the same as Linda. (My complete Ren name is Belle la'Donna...beautiful but deadly ;) It's also a little inside joke because in real life I'm a pharmacist.

So because "Linda" always seems to be already taken on any and all web sites...I've started using "LindaBelle".

Only problem is that when my husband read the name he thought it's pronounced "Linda Belly". Aargghh! Back to the diet!

LokiZ
10-26-2005, 06:45 AM
LokiZ that is me pronounced Low-Key-Z

Loki - a Giant turned god via a trick played on the Norse gods of old. He is the god of Mischief. Well how fitting ;)

Z - a backwards S My name is Stefan - I have a minor case of Dislexia, Also Z is the end of alphabet it is the final letter it is completion.

And also Low-key yes that is me. setting back in the shadows as I watch my pranks unfold. getting my start back in highschool in a group we called T.R.U.M.P. which stood for...

The Royal Union of Master Pranksters

who ran with the motto...

True Rebels Unleash Mystifying Pranks

Lol...well you asked...And that is where it came from. Gotta run, I see the men with white jackets coming to take me away... ho ho he he ha ha. You know its bad when you are watching batman and rooting for your hero the Joker ;)

I could go on but I don't want to bore nor scare anyone LOL

Peace,

ScrapSlave
10-26-2005, 11:10 AM
My emails and instant messanger screen name has been SchipSlave for years now. My dog is a Schipperke, pronounced SkipperKey. They are a breed that is a major handful, they are a little black furball of fire and energy.......very similar to Jack Russell Terriers if you know about them. Anyway, it's a common joke among Schipperke owners that we are "slaves" to our Schips......hence came the screen name SchipSlave. But when I started scrapping and joining scrap sites I decided to alter it to ScrapSlave since I'm completely addicted to my scrapping.

My real name is Michele but most people call me Cheli (pronounced Shelley).

kattcom999
11-01-2005, 09:49 AM
Hello, my name is kattcom999. I am owned by 4 cats, hence the name "katt". The "com" part is reference to the computer. My cats are on the computer (literally) as much as I am. Our home consists of 3 humans and are outnumbered by the wanna-be's! I took up scrapbooking on the computer not that long ago. I never thought about looking it up on the computer though, duh! I hope to learn much being here...mine sure don't compare to the beautiful work I've seen here.

BTW my real name is Lisa. I have 2 sons, Mike and Ben, and my furbabies, Jasper, Jade, Peanut, and Pandora. :)

Art-C
11-14-2005, 09:11 AM
Art-C comes from my art background (BFA in Interior Design) and my love of plein air oil painting, silver jewelry making, quilting and scrapbooking. "Art" is obviously for the art I love and "C" is the first letter of my last name Cuddihy. Hence, "Art-C". There's just not enough time in the day to do all I want to do!

Capmom is short for "Captured Moments" my registered business name, it is simple for this aging brain to remember . . .and The "C" "M" first letters are also the first letters of my first and last name (Marilyn Charlesworth) - now, if that makes sense it would be a miracle . . .

Well I picked JustScraps for two reasons. #1: a lot of times, before I found digital, I would run out of whole sheets of paper and I would make my layouts with just scraps.... #2: Someday I plan to open a scrapbook store where I will offer paper AND digital I will call it JustScraps.. SO .. I am JustScraps.

Hi - I have been playing around with digital scrapbooking for a while, but haven't even really done much yet. I think I'm having a hard time getting started. Any tips? I have years and years of pictures!

My username - I did rubber stamping for about 10 years and then have been cross stitching for a couple years and playing around with the digital scrapbooking for almost a year.

There is so much to learn and I love it all.

Have a great day!

My name is Ginger and as you can imagine I have been subjected to being asked repeatedly where Gilligan is and being called GingerSnap, people assuming I like anything ginger flavored, etc. As I've grown older I've learned to just accept it and enjoy it. One of the docs I work for just calls me "Snap". I like gsnap1000 because it was my very first email addy when I first got on the Internet and it seems to suit me so I use it as my screenname for other things as well.

I am usmcdaisy. I could say that's because I'm McDonald's girlfriend...but REALLY I work for the U.S. Marine Corps and my name is Daisy.

My user name is a nick name, which is a play on the name Naomi. It is pronounced gnome-skome (they rhyme). It's better than another name, Skid. I was called this because I was always falling on the ice and snow. Imaginitive.

I'm new here, so I will go ahead and introduce myself. You know my name. I received a BFA at SCSU, which included a number of collage classes and printing. Because of this, my books end up pretty good. I'm a perfectionist, so it can always be improved. I just recently started a website showcasing my photos and was searching for info on digital scrapbooking to livin up the old photos. So I am all new to this. So I joined the group.

I look forward to maybe give some pointers and get help in my web page development.

For more info on me and my photos go to www.freewebs.com/throughmylens/

My user name, knbbro, has several meanings:
First: My name is Kimberly Nadine Brogdon, so "knb" is my initials and "bro" represents the first three letters of my last name.:)
Second: My name is Kim and my husband's name is Bob - thus, K "n" B for Kim "n" Bob!;)
Third: My husband and I have a corporation which we named KNB Corporation.:D

I don't think I've posted in this thread-so here goes-it's really deep.......
My user name is jenaRN-my name is Jena and I'm a RN!! Hehe!
Back when I had taken my state boards and was waiting for my results DH decided to switch internet providers and without my knowledge picked jenaRN for my email address-I was so mad and worried that he had jinxed me-putting RN after my name before knowing whether or not I had passed! Thankfully I did and the name stuck!

I haven't seen this one either until now - nothing original - when I got married my husband was tired of using my email for everthing and asked why he didn't have his own. Thus was born the "d2vasquez" for Darla and David Vasquez. Unfortunately since posting - our mailbox is filled with just stuff for me and occasionally one or two for my dh. So he has his own now and I just kind of keep this one cuz I love the memory behind it.

It just occurred to me that I don't think I have ever posted to this thread. I wanted to pick a name that showed a bit of my faith (Christian) but never beat anyone over the head. I loved other people's usernames that were little phrases, so after I heard Todd Aignew's song "Amazing Grace (Grace Like Rain)" I new that was the phrase for me. So there goes!! :)

Hi, my real name is Cynthia. My user name refers to bing "mom" to 4 dogs. We have a bichone frise, a boxer/siberian husky mix, a chocolate lab/cocker spaniel mix, and a chocolate lab/siberian husky mix. Our house is a bit hectic with all of them running around, and at night the bed is extremely crowded when they all jump up, but we wouldn't have it any other way. Any other dog mom's out there?

Jo Dee
12-30-2005, 04:02 AM
My user name Jo Dee comes from my name, which is Joyce. My dad used to call me Joycie (which I hated) when my little brother started to talk he called me Jo Dee ‘cus he couldn’t say Joycie – it’s been that ever since. Have never been called by my name, DH has always called me Sunshine,

My oldest GD stayed with us for a couple of weeks when she was little (Mom and Dad went on a cruise) and DH would go in when she woke up and say “Good morning Sunshine”. When they took her home, she kept saying “Grandpa Sunshine” in her baby talk way, they finally called us to ask what she was saying. Finally figured out it was Sunshine. Since then we have been Grandma and Grandpa Sunshine. That’s what all the grandkids call us, even though a couple of them are in high school now.
Jo Dee or Sunshine

Jo Dee-

I used to greet my daughter every morning when she awoke with "Good Morning Sunshine", too. She's 36 now with 2 children that can share the same wakeup call. What a great way to start the day.

That is a good story Jen. I love the colour purple and I was going to be purplegirl, but when I went to make an e-mail addy for myself it said that username was already taken and I thought "girl" might not be a real representation of who I am, so now I'm lilaclady

Well, I've had mine since about 1985 when I first got an AOL account. It was my first time online and I wanted something cute and clever.....well ok, I was really trying to get at something that described me and there's no modesty in my family (LOL). I also didn't want it spelled normally (I don't do things normally) and AOL would only allow so many letters....so I came up with cuteandcuddly in a round about sort of way. What's been funny is when the lightbulb goes on and people realize what it says...I chuckle over it.

Hi,

This is only my 2nd posting but figured I might be on a roll:-)

My name is Caroline (well actually it's Carolina, I'm south American, but no-one calls me that) My maiden name started with a B and Caro B (bee) was what my cousins called me to tell my other cousin caroline and i apart... when i got back to australia I started emailing my cousins and the name kinda stuck... when i met my DH, he later revealed he thought it stood for carob, the bittersweet healthfood alternative to chocolate... I'm still trying to figure out if that was a good thing, but hey, he married me so it couldn't have meant anything too bad... (could it?) At least it beats having to type out the longer name!

Love this site by the way.. I'm still trying to work up the courage to do a layout...

My user name is dblj_5. The dblj stands for double j (a nickname I got while working at Six Flags St. Louis) My first name is Jennifer and there were WAY too many of them working there at the time so my supervisor started calling us all by our initials and my name became JJ or double J. I went by both and still do sometimes. The five comes from my volleyball number which just happens to be my favorite number ever! I don't know how it became my favorite number, I've always liked the number 5.:)

Dobby is from Harry Potter! I love socks, the wilder the better. Typically I don't even care if they match. So when Dobby was first introduced in the books (and his love of socks, which set him free!) my husband started to call me by the name.

When our first granddaughter was born there were so many grandmothers and grandfathers running around that she started to call me Tink and dh is Pan. Now all three gk call us by those names. Since Zoe started it though, I use her name in her honor.

Wonder how many grandparents get their names from first grandchildren? I was the oldest grandchild, and the (odd) name I came up with for my grandmother has gone through her great-great grandchildren.

Carla

Well... "C" is simply my first inital and Ware is my last name. I was going to use my first name, Carla, but it was taken. I also, sometimes, go by "Tiger" in memory of my big yellow cat.

"Evergreen" was my most favourite line dance ever (my other hobby!) (living in Country Music Capital Aussie, it's beat 'em or join 'em so I joined "em) and the 100 happened because just Evergreen was already taken. My Grandmother name is Mardie, from my first grandson adding y's to everything, just plain Ma became Mardie!
