I bought myself some new mugs for Christmas (DH got to give them to me) and it was only when I was looking for a bg to photograph them that I realised they matched my new apron bought by my SIL for Christmas.... do you think they know my colours well!

[Edit] Hmmm... maybe a bit close to "Beyond the Birds" and "Boldly Leading" looking at this with my Flair below. However... I would like some flowers like these at some stage please.

Ok - I looked at all we had and this one was the most different from any kit Ive done recently so this shall be it - lets have some ideas for backgrounds.

So glad I checked your forum tonight Lauren. I am so excited to get started on a new Gimme a Clue.

How about a blue background with snowflakes on it. It doesn't have to be actual big flakes, but more like the mini snow dots in the inspiration photo, with maybe 2 or 3 that are larger and look like real flakes.

sandygb

Hi, I've been wanting to join in on Gimme A Clue...I read the December Silver Bells thread and it looked like a lot of fun and the kit is beautiful :) so I'd like to try joining in on this month :)

mariafer
01-02-2009, 08:21 AM
Yippee! I like all the ideas so far... I really would like Sandy's idea like a light blue sky. :)

I would also like a painted sort of background that was darker blue on the outside and whiter on the inside sort of mottled.

Lovely, Lauren/ I think someone suggested a pink and blue sponged effect paper. I like that idea!! or a pink paint stroke background with lightly stamped mittens or something on them... maybe down one edge

Of course, I am on a diet - chocolate snowflakes on a pink background look good too :D

shawsi
01-02-2009, 05:53 PM
I am still loving the mitten idea if you don't think it would be more cutesy than you are thinking.

It wasn't what I had in mind, but the stamped mittens would be pretty.

mariafer
01-03-2009, 11:34 AM
I am all about Corgi's idea of the silver and murlimac's pale blue with scratches...

As for ideas of my own:

How about a pale blue background with a brown glitter swirl (large) in the corner.

Jill W

How about a 'large' glittery swirl of some sort?

mariafer
01-03-2009, 11:29 PM
I am going to agree with everyone else and go with a chocolate paper or a brown leather paper. So many good ideas!

If not how about a agryle (sp?) sweater type paper. Anyway just a thought...

How about a simple white frame (horizontal rectangle) in the same "fabric" as the snowflake, with the same stitching on it.

shawsi
01-05-2009, 06:48 PM
That would be cute, Sandy. A snowman in the same felt would also be cute.

I know I sound like I am beating a dead horse, but maybe....drumroll.....felt mittens? They could have the same stitching...They would be so cute with Sandy's frame and with the snow flake.

Another idea...a mug of cocoa with steam rising above it. Not sure how you would do that, but the cocoa color would go nicely.

I have a feeling since I know nothing about designing, I put out some pretty ridiculous ideas sometimes.
Sorry.

A fuzzy fabric ribbon with a little bit of glitter

How about a narrow cord with a bow and aglets at the ends or those plastic bits that keep a cord from slipping into the casing on a coat with a hood?

Love the idea for a ribbon!

Lauren

How about a ribbon - any kind - maybe grosgrain?

How about some ribbons in the same shades, tied in knots (that could be "tied" around the frame) or even folded over and stapled?

Lauren
01-06-2009, 09:40 PM
maybe a yarn pom-pom (like the kind you find on the top stocking caps for kids) instead of a bow and knitted yarn (kind of like a scarf) instead of ribbon.

I hope that made sense.

well its not a yarn pom pom - but its kind of a cross between a felt flower and a pom pom isnt it???????

i kind of like it!!http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/freebies/gimmeaclue/2009_1_11.jpg

One more piece - what should it be??????????- seems like somethings missing to me but I cant put my finger on it

Like the flower.

Maybe a white felt scalloped edge border - if the scallop was a big circle little circle scallop it might look like snowballs on the ground.

Actually a stitched border could look quite good.

Or make the border from frayed felt scarves.

This is looking great! I'm heading off to bed but I had some ideas for kit names that I wanted to share

Snow Angel
She's Such a Flake!
Snow Girl
Snow Circles
Winter Dots
Flakey Girl
Flakey and Fabulous
Fabulously Flakey
Frosty Flakes

what about an "L" shaped mound of snowballs, or even wind swirles that could be placed as a corner accent on the LO or a picture

I love the cloud of words too and the ribbon and the pom pon/flower - how about an overlay of falling snow, very faint/see through - maybe similar to the 'smallsnowstorm' in your Wonderland Overlay Stack.

PS Lauren's Wonderland Overlay Stack (http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&-----=3d3ccdd68501112c3202a9805b5c0e58&keyword=wonderland+overlay+stack) would be a perfect mate for this kit.

a felt snowman? Acryllic snowman? I haven't read all the suggestions so maybe a snoman's been offered up already.

Like the flower.

Maybe a white felt scalloped edge border - if the scallop was a big circle little circle scallop it might look like snowballs on the ground.

Well its what you asked for but its a circle and its white AND blue

Now we need a name

to me the kit is a little more funky than the name so far suggest - Im thinking - maybe Felt like Winter - or Felt like Snow - or or .. well something with a bit of a pun - or a name that really suggests the bright nature of the kit - it really doesnt say neopolitan to me - far too bright!!-- so keep em coming...

Lauren
01-07-2009, 02:17 AM
Actually after I thought about it - I quite liked Felt Like Snow - so I went with that - I will do the draw for the free kits tomorrow morning
