Hmmmm.... I'm still trying to decide if 200 LOs is too few! I seem to be able to easily do 30 per month which is 360, but if I want to take any time off at all that is to many. Would you set your goal low and hope to blow it away, or set it high and not worry if you don't achieve it!

As a newbie, I am setting my goal at 80, and then if/when I reach it I will change it to something else.

I have a lot of catch up to do from 2008 plus some wedding pictures from 2007, and there are always more events happening to scrap (luckily, especially with my new camera!).

I was wondering the same thing .... went high [for me] which is 180 but being on the DET I'm sure I can get out 15 LOs a month. You can aim low and if you hit it way before the end of the year you can always amend it.

Well my goals for this year is to try and get 180 LOs [this doesn't include blog headers or kits] which for me might be a tough order. If I put some extra effort into SWTS ... that would give me 10 a month. :D
Two goals I would love to achieve is a Hall of Fame LO and to be published but we will see about those.

Well last year I did about 1000 LOs (estimating because I have cards, class assignments, SNL Kit previews and multi revized edition from BootCamp and NKOTB) which is about 83 per month. If I up it to 90 per month I'll make 1100. That seems like a lot so I may have to readjust around March. (Starting 2009 with 1170 LOs)

I'm also looking around for more goals to put on my list and will add them later.

EDIT: After posting this, I see that I need to work on the size of Flair card - it is a little small and the small flair can't be read.

My goal is 100 LOs for the year which is a lot for me. In order to reach that goal, I've got to have short-term goals in front of me. So I'm aiming a little low this quarter to get a rhythm going:

My goal is the same as Mandy's. I want to scrap 2006 to the point that I am happy it represents that year in our lives. I need to make a 2006 Album (my 2007 one is so nice), and move the layouts I already have done there. So, that is the first step I'll do toward my goal this year.

Edited: DONE. I created a 2006 Album and moved 10 layouts into it. I'm off to a GREAT start on my goal!

I have recently been learning a lot about goal setting and the power it gives. One of the big things I learned is that the goal MUST be achievable. It is better to set a goal you KNOW you can accomplish, even if that means you hit the goal early and have to then set a new one, then to set a goal too high and discourage yourself. Setting small goals more frequently will lead to more accomplished than setting larger goals less frequently.

Anyway, I say go with the 200 layout goal, and when you blow it away set a new goal.

Complete 12 shutterfly books from my pre-digital stash of photos. (First one was uploaded yesterday- 11 to go....)

Can you tell I have "scrapolution fever"? I am hoping that learning a new technique each month and joining a challenge will have me practicing and creating extra layouts- and writing it down like this is a great reminder to keep me on track.

Sherryva, LOVE your Flair especially the reminder to back up. When I think of 2008, it will always be the year that I lost all of my archeived photos. I am going to need that flair.

My goals,

#1 To get to do each designers challenge a few times.
#2 To get DD#1's Graduation book caught up to date (when she starts her senior year, I want to be up to that point.)
#3 Journal on atleast 1 LO per week (hate seeing my thoughts in print, they just look stupid.)
#4 Complete 400 more LOs here at DSP. and 500 overall.
#5 Do something noteworthy.

Hmmm...I have too many goals!!! I like how you are tracking yours, sherryva! I was wondering how I would do that because I don't really want to set a "# of layouts" goal. I may have to amend these soon, but here's what I think I'll start with:

1. My cousin's wedding scrapbook
2. Complete the "get it off auto" tutorials
3. Make my 2008 year in review album
4. Finally get all my old layouts printed and sorted into albums
5. Do my 2009 year in review album each month!

Actually, just scrapping would be a great accomplishment for me! :)

Well, this last Summer/early Fall was the first time I set any sort of scrapping goal, and I did achieve it. I was to scrap enough of 2007 that I felt it is a fair representation of that year, and I wanted it done before the end of September. Well, I didn't finish it until early December, but I DID finish it (I used the cool Scraps of Style QuickClicks CD to whip out the last few I needed in just a couple of days).

My new goal is quite similar. I want a fair representation of 2006, and I already have 10 layouts toward that goal (2 of them are double pagers). I would LIKE to be done with it before the next DET contest starts in March, but I'm being realistic that that maybe be a bit too much to ask. Rather, I'll consider myself successful with my goal if I finish by June.

Okay, got my flair started, got my goals - 120 layouts, 24 challenges or 2 a month. Oh, and I couldn't fit it on there, but I am challenging myself to have ALL of my old photos scanned and organized, and all photos backed up on PhotoBucket.

I love the new features to "streamline" the signatures!

I will not join in defining any goals for scapping..For me it's leisure and putting goals up for that is something I would not like to do. I'm facing very challenging targets and deadlines all the time at work so I really enjoy having as less as I need in my time at home...

I do have some things I'd like to work on whenever I'm in the mood or am having time for it
participate in DET bootcamp to stretch my skills
*continue participating in swaps
*taking loads of pictures to hold on to this beautifull (everyday) moments
*proceed working on my son's album and vacation albums which I'm behind on..

Ok, My goal is 80 lo's and to complete my first book.Also to particapate in many challanges and also get started on my daughter's life book.This is alot, but I think this group will motivate me, so Iam aiming high.Iam working on 6 years of photos! YIKES.....

Well I set my goal for 80 layouts - realistic I think. I am also aiming to:
- take at least one photo per day in 2009
- make my 2008 year in review album
- make a heritage album for my family (famous last words)
- work on my journalling. I want better stories on my pages!

I have set scrapping goals before well more dreams LOL ..... I laugh now because I have actually achieved 2 of them .... a LOTD and the DET. It seems kinda weird being in the DET because when I 1st came here way back in Nov 2006 I looked at the DET as Goddesses of scrapping and something that was unobtainable. How wrong was I huh??

But this is the 1st time I have set scrapping goals like this and written them down. I do eventually want to get published and the only way to do that is submit lots of pages. So here I am wanting to get 180 LOs done this year which is a lot for me.

My biggest goal is to get 200 pages done. Last year I did about 150, but the year before was 190. So I know it's achievable I just need to keep motivated. I also want to try and keep up with PAD once more. I took a year break and I think part of my page motivation came from always having new photos to work with.

I have been wondering why I feel like such an odd ball seeing as how I haven't set any scrapping goals for 2009. I counted my LO's for 2008 and I did 139. Maybe I should set my goal to do as many LO's of DS as I do of DD, seeing as how she is my main subject, usually. :(

My main goal for 2009, and actually was for 2008, too, is to make pages that I love. I don't want to scrap pages just to "get it done". I want to be able to say that I love them all! Others don't have to love them. Just me. Back in my early scrapping days, I posted some pages that I wasn't really happy with thinking that I'd go back and fix them. Well guess what, I never did and they're still sitting in my gallery bugging me. I also want to try to complete 100 pages. Hopefully I can make it!

My goal this year is to scrap as chronologically as possible and to get each month done so that at the end of the year I can print a hardbound book without worrying that I missed any pages.

I don't care how many pages I scrap as long as all the memories are captured.

I'm sure that along the way I'll go back and scrap some pre-2008 pages that haven't been done yet.

Well, I finally set my first goal for the year. I want to hit 5000 posts by the end of the month! If I post and comment 100 times each week, I will make it as just yesterday I hit 4600. (BTW, checking my post count with this one so I can finish my ticker, then I can upload the new flair - LOL)

My goal is to finish scrapping all my travel pictures from last year. 11 countries in 12 months!!! I literally have thousands of pictures. I recently reached my goal to do a 12 month travel picture book with one page for a different country or place I visited last year. I want to finish out all the rest of my trips and have a killer scrapbook. I also have the goal to do 12 SNL kits this year, but that's not really an extra effort. ;)

I need help getting this flair card bigger, but it is done, and like someone else commented, I spent longer on this than on some layouts. Not used to working in SMALLL

I set the following Goals for 2009

Finish my sister’s China Journey
Finish my Capturing Memories 2008
Finish my California and Arizona Sojurn book
Do 200 layouts that I just love
Create another Capturing Memories for 2009 . . . ongoing
Improve my photoraphy skils and knowledge

I think they are all achievable whilst allowing for the travel time we have booked and having a life outside of DSP . .. oh I know, what could I be thinking of.

Having only been here a few days short of a year, my focus has really changed from the beginning. For me now, it is about the picture, and not about the layout . ... the layout is the supporting cast for the pictures. I am no longer as worried about my scrapping abilities as I am about improving my photography. In time, I think both will come, but my focus will be improving my photography this year.

I noted that a couple of people made their goal to make layouts that THEY JUST LOVE . . .. I have borrowed that . . in the end it really is for me and my family. Like Tina said, I also want to concentrate more on journaling than on pretty pages. Twenty-five years from now, pretty pictures aren't a lot of help with the supporting documentation.

Just my 2 cents worth and dipping my toes in the water.

I nearly had a nervous breakdown over this too . . .. always thought I was pretty techie savvy, but this one really challenged me. The trick is to not have it too big size or kb wise. Ended up saving nmine for the web at 700 pixels wide and at about a 12 for resolution. That made a decent sized file without it being too large in the kb area. Try that . ... then once it is posted right click the image itself, click on properties and highlight the link, go into edit your signagture, hit the insert image icon, deleting the http// that is there and pasting the one you have just copied from your upload.

Hope that helps. I just got mine to work about 5 minutes ago.

I want to stockpile some pre-made LO's so that when I do get that cherished photo, I can hunt through my file and find the LO for it. I haven't made the first LO yet this year! Right now, I'm not inspired to scrap just an everyday "blah" snap that I usually take. Is there any sense to my thinking or is it just late and I should go to bed? :confused:

Ive not had any trouble at all.

I just add my flair as i like and then save for web, web with out adjusting the pixel size.

After I right-clicked on the image (not the preview), went to properties and copied the url, I went to www.tinyurl.com and created a tiny url for mine and just pasted it into my Edit Signature box in between these codes: [IMG] [IMG/] and that was the only way I could get it to work. I use tiny url's all of the time, thanks to carolat.

I've also updated my flair card to include a challenge symbol to show that I've done one of my "catch-up" layouts. I have brightened up the card using Nicole's Retro Jive Girl Kit.

I'm on a roll... and trying to hurry before the storm arrives and we lose our electricity... again. While I was getting out my pixs for my Jan challenges, I started pulling out ALL the kits I have and haven't done anything with ... over 300 of them!!!! shocked me too! So I have to redo my goals... and have started using all these kits! So far, I did finish ONE album (but not the one that I intended to do) - revising 6 layouts in it, did 1 plopper and 8 new LO's! I did do another layout and a 2 pager = 11 LO's so far! Did I mention I was on a roll????

OMG... I love Tina's new jeans kit! and ... I still have to redo my card - still not coming up!

LOL - I scrap when Megan is in bed mainly. My best scrapping hours are actually from 10pm - 1am :p I also sometimes do a page in the afternoon when she's playing in her room but those LOs end up taking me an extra hour due to all the little interruptions. LOL - can't even begin to imagine trying to do that with traditional paper scrapping :eek: My "roll" is a result of reveling in finally feeling good after being down in the dumps with a cold and then stomach issues and having company with the holidays :rolleyes: It's nice to be back at it!

I quit! I am 0% toward my goal which was easy enough...Scrap 2009 in Chronological Order...no specific number of pages to complete, no challenges to pressure me....a perfect slacker's goal (if that isn't an oxymoron)

The problems...major scrappers block and a lack of photos....I take plenty, but none that are inspiring me right now...

So instead of scrapping, I'm trolling the "New Posts" every 5 minutes, getting my post-count up (because it's pitifully low) and commenting on other's fabulous Layouts...hoping to find one to lift since I have ZERO inspiration...what's wrong with me???

I actually think that setting a goal of doing something chronological is much more difficult then just doing a certain number of pages. It would kill my creativity instantly. So just try and have fun with instead or it'll end uo being a duty and not a pleasure.

Oh and we all experience not having any inspiration at all. When I have no inspiration (and that happens all the time) I go for a walk and take in some inspiration from the city around me. A lost cat sign, a poster at the bus stop or even the way the sky looks that day. Inspiration is everywhere but you have to want to see it, if you know what I mean.

So don't quit!! Just rethink your goal :hug:

Definitely nothing wrong with you lmilgram! I'm with Jeanet, scrapping strictly chronologically is very tough. Even though my goal is to finish scrapping year 2006, I'm bouncing around within that year and doing some non year 2006 pages as well. Since I scrap mainly based on challenges, if that means I stray away from my Flair goal, so be it. You gotta scrap what inspires you otherwise it's forced and won't be fun and you probably won't care for your final product.

When I'm in a slump, I get away from it all together for a day or two. Go do another hobby, like reading to give my brain a break. Then I go browsing through the DET gallery for inspiration! I also will browse through my photos and let something in there inspire me and then go search for the right kit.

I honestly would never have made a goal if it hadn't been for the Scrapolution - so I blame DSP! (or I could take responsibility for my own issues, but what's fun about that)

I think I quit my goal...not scrapping. I'm too addicted...will have to redesign my flair to reflect this...

My idea to scrap chronologically stemmed from my other issue...I THINK I'm finished with 2008 and ready to print the whole year...the dilemna...Hardbound book or loose pages???? Whatif I missed a picture along the way? I can't start 2009 until I have closure on 2008 (never mind all previous years they are all works in progress)...I can't deal with this every year...I want to start the new year with a completed book from the previous year...I'm rambling...I'm doing this a lot lately...must get help...:)

I'm not normally this scattered...maybe a glass of wine would help....

sounds to me your concentrating on what you think you should do instead of what you enjoy doing... we all hit a wall from time to time...give yourself a little time off.

For what its worth, when I feel uninspired, I somethimes scraplift my favorites gallery..

but what usually gets me back into the groove is just taking a picture I like, not thinking about a layout, and learn a new technique, or play with filters and see what happens, and for me one thing usually leads to another, and before I know it, I am right back to it.

Someone on the site- cant remember who, think it was webfrau, has a "no goal zone" in her signature...

I'd go with the hardbound book- the "highlights" of the year.. if you forget something, do what I do, I include it in the following years book as a page of "this time last year"

I also find scrapping chronologically very challenging. I have to scrap what inspires me at that moment. I certainly know how you feel about not being inspired, though. Been there, done that! Scraplifts and Quick Clicks are a great way to pull yourself out of a funk. I like to just pick a photo(s) that I love and then head to the store to find something that matches it. Good luck!:)

My goals this year are to start and finish my friend's European Cruise album that I was suppose to finish last year! My other goals are to get back and hopefully finish my wedding album and start a a new album featuring layouts of my dog and cat. I'm a really slow scrapper I think getting 2 pages per album done a month (so around 10 pages a month or 2 a week) probably is most realistic. I'm shooting for a 100 layouts total though at the very least!

Well, I keep changing my goals for the year, but I have decided on two for sure and I've been keeping up! I'm doing the 9 on the 9th (here's my most recent: http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=302181) and I've done that twice so far - - YAY!!! And I'm doing Lisa's 52 Pick Up (except that I kind of cheat and just use whatever kit I want!!!). So basically I'm just trying to do one random layout a week about one random moment in my week. That'll be kind of a fun album to have at the end of the year, IMO!

I know...tiny goals...but totally achievable and that makes me happy! :)

Well, I finally ordered a photobook (which was one of my scrapping goals) - so I'll have some of my layouts printed at last! :) I'll have to have someone over for dinner so I can happen to leave it on the table and show off :) Now I need to get back to scrapping so I can fill another one

I have completely redone my flair card and I am almost halfway with my goal of 100 layouts for 2009 (I am doing as many as I can now because my maternity leave is up in July and I need to go back to work...that will reduce my scrapbooking time to an hour or two a week...if I am lucky).

WOW!!! I am in utter shock by the numbers some of you posted...not just as your goals but as LO's you've created previously!! Someday I hope to be able to create like that!

Well I'm going to be realistic for me...my goal is to create 5 LO's a month. Geesh, I feel so pitiful compared to what some of you do!! I love scrapping but I have yet to really get a system going for editing pics, finding kits and elements and actually gettin it all scrapped!! If anyone has some suggestions or tips, please let me know! Now that I think of it, how DO you all get so many LO's done??

I found that I have been quite productive since starting to do the challenges.
As for kits - Pick a designer and do a challenge with her using a challenge kit.

I don't have grandchildren Sandy ... join the 365 project or one of the other challenges! I tell you, taking a photo a day really helps me look at a lot things differently - even my scrapping!

Oh definitely don't give up Sandy!!! I totally agree with LynnT - the world opens before you when you scrap it. You look at things with a new eye! Start photographing one of your hobbies, maybe a flower you really enjoy gardening. Then have fun scrapping those pictures!
