View Full Version : Help me Design-a-kit & you could Win-a-kit!
It's been nearly a year since we've played this! Who's ready to go????
Here's the 1st post (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29073) to help you along. It's a lot like Lauren's Gimme A Clue if you play that with her!
I'd love it if you could link the swatch thumbnails in here too
so post away on color schemes. I'll be out w/ my boy today, but will get started on a kit soon!
1st I'll need color suggestions, then I will ask for background ideas. After finish the backgrounds (all 4) I will then show them for element suggestions, after all the elements are done (I'll show them as i finish them) I'll put it up for name suggestions.
Winners- 1 for color scheme, 1 random, 1 for naming.

Ok, I've got it all figured out except how to get the numbers. Where do I find those? I've looked everywhere my limited knowledge can take me. Using PSE 7.

Did you read Tina's post. (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29073)
We first start with color schemes. I have set up a template in PSE that I use since I love this type of challenge and anytime there is one I do it. It has the 5 lines only. I change them and rotate them depending on the inspiration picture I choose. Other people set theirs up with a place for the picture. Then is when the fun begins. You can choose the colors and set them in place and save for web and upload here.
I hope it makes sense..
I dont need the numbers, I'll just use the eyedropper tool :)

Here's the right thread! I posted to last years... guess its never to soon to forget that its 2009 already! Anyhow, I pulled 5 colors from my days of being a wedding planner/design consultant. I don't really have a picture to go with, but these were the most popular colors for beach weddings (so popular and fun to work with that I'm using them for my wedding as well!). Enjoy!

YIPEE! I might just have to go to Martha from now on! I am two of two with her (yours and Lauren's!) I love those birds! :)!
For backgrounds....
*Glitter swirl background in the "gold" (Gold with darker gold swirls on it)
*Grungy grid with green lines and brown, blue and green swirls and flowers in some edges/corners

1. A patterned paper with the two blues - perhaps a scratchy feel or repeatative squares.
2. A gungy background in brown with a red grungy edge
3. An old paper look with the grey
4. A pattered paper with the green, maybe faint swirls or something along those lines

I would love to have some blended and textured papers like the ones you did in the Gilded Glory kits. Maybe with birds and branches as an overlay?

A spotted paper like the one in your Chillin kit... but instead of snowflakes the sillouette of a little bird.
A paper with swirls of leaves and vines and little birds all over it.
Dotted paper like the one in Razzle Dazzle Girly - blue with darker brown and green spots.
Here are the 4 backgrounds. I took the glitter suggestions and swirly suggestions and made a very glittery (with lots of diff colors of glitter) background set.
Now, ready for the suggestions for elements. These I will show 1 at a time.

4. A beaded string

An oval frame... having just gone searching for one in all of your kits Tina... I couldn't find one.
Pretty backgrounds...I love glitter :) How about a flower with a glittered center?
how about a sparkle spray, like fireworks make in the sky?
How about a delicate chain with silver and gold stars dangling from it...
A trail of small butterflies....
a cute little green frog ...with or without glitter accents
A swirl of green leaves...with or without glittered accents...
more green ideas...
a green three or four leaf clover
a swirly fern branch
back to glitter ... :)
how about a gold and silver glitter circle frame

This brings back memories of my paint on sweatshirt days
The word art so looks like it came out of a tube of the glitter paint I use to use.
Ideas:
A smear of paint or drip
A droopy bow with safty pin
Puffy glitter stickers
An eyelet lace frame
Brush stroke flowers
Linen swatch with stitched edge
watercolor shapes trimed in puffy glitter
oops sorry, I get a bit carried away :o
more green ideas...
a green three or four leaf clover
I thought the clover idea was clever. clever clover. clever leea.

Wow, am I getting into this late!
Frames - loved the suggestion of an oval shape. Also a multi-photo frame would be nice
Beaded wire
Diamond-like beads, brads, etc
That's all I can think of on this back to work Monday.
handkl
01-05-2009, 04:02 PM
Frames would be nice and a second, third, and fourth to a beaded wire or string.
Ok, the bronze glitter really isn't fitting, imho... I've made this red one instead. Do you all think it's better???
I also added the earlier suggestion for a glitter branch & a circle element. I've been sniffing through the prior suggestions and working from there ;)
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/../gallery/data/1624/DesignAKitWinakitElement21.jpg?861
I really liked the bronze glitter background and was looking forward to getting it in the kit. I really like the red background too :) are 5 background allowed in a kit? :) if the bronze background doesn't get back in the kit, can you include part of it somehow? a bronze glitter edged overlay or scalloped border edge? A bronze glittered flower? Maybe in a backpack or AOP?
You've done really great on the papers Tina! I like EVERY one of them :)
The elements are pretty too :) I agree with Iwuvpsp...the Sparkle wordart looks like it came out of a bottle.
i will leave the bronze glitter if that is what everyone wants :)
Lynnie
01-05-2009, 04:43 PM
Oh - Tina - a Glittery Bird would be perfect - please please :D
:) but now I've seen the red and the bronze and like them both and also the other 3 backgrounds. I'm glad this isn't my decision :) if the bronze background isn't working for you (is a full page too much?) maybe a glitter element...a bronze glitter flower, leaf, bow/and or ribbon or maybe a bronze glitter frame? if the bronze background doesn't make it into the kit, maybe a part of it can :) it's a really cool look!
what a great thread, glad I found it...really looking forward to the kit/challenge :)
Ok, adding the bronze glitter back in via an overlay, adding the multi suggested beaded wire, and adding Lynnie's suggestion of a glitter bird.
1 to go!

A sign to journal on and to hang off the branch.
Flower - one big one with little ones on stems (like the clover stems) coming from behind it
tying together beautifully ! How about something to hang from the branch ?
thank you for adding it back in :) cute glitter bird!!!
are we still thinking of elements? a window frame (for photo) with a flower box at the bottom, or maybe a frame of glitter flowers, a carved stone frame, or a leafy vine frame in green or a metal material?
a small stepping stone with a garden saying on it?
gram2nic

I agree. it needs some kind of a frame, preferably a rectangular type, or a double with glitter.
handkl
01-05-2009, 07:54 PM
A bronze glitter frame, but not a thick frame. Something dainty like the overlay.
shawsi
01-05-2009, 08:05 PM
How about a frame out of the same thing the branch is, with the pretty delicate beaded wire daintily (sp?) wrapped here and there around it?
I have missed this whole thing. I am so sad, but at least I got one suggestion in. I love this so far.

I'd love to see some more green in one of the papers or something. Maybe the one in the back? The red paper is perfect!
I agree with you about the bronze glitter paper, but I really need that paper! I would love to see another kit based around that paper or one like it in a different color. Cause really, I need that paper in every color possible. PLEEEAAASSE!
I love the idea of something to hang from the tree branch!
Could you add some glitter to the clover? It almost seems like it needs some sparkle too! Though I'm not sure if I like it with this kit or not. I like the clover and I could see another kit going with it. JMO :)
I'm thinking "Just a Sparkle of Spring" cause it kind of looks like the time between winter and spring.
I just love this kit and it's so fun to watch the process!
Dani B
01-05-2009, 08:48 PM
Maybe the clover could be a bit different - like each clover filled with each of the glitters or colors used in the makeing of the kit instead of the green ?
idtwinmom
01-05-2009, 09:18 PM
I like the idea of a dainty glitter frame. Maybe use the green and red along with the metal colors. Hmmm... might be busy, but if it's done just real tiny delicate specs, kind of like different colored sprinkles on Christmas cookies. Well, I think you know what I mean!
Ok ladies.. I wanted to add the flowers, as suggested, but i liked the idea of something hanging from the branch.
This leaves me with 13 items! What do we ditch? The "Sparkle" title? Or the copper brad ring you can barely see?
I also added sprinkles of glitter to the clover, they didn't look right in other colors, tried that...
The darker blue bg DOES have green glitter, but I boosted that color a little more so the green pops.
Hope you like this! I'll take name suggestions and PLEASE let me know which piece to dtich!
