View Full Version : how do you bind/cover your printed pages?

I just got a wide-format printer so I can print my 12x12s. I guess I assumed I would slip the printed pages into the traditional scrapbooking sleeves (clear plastic). But will the printed pages stick to the plastic?
If you print your pages for bound scrapbooks, what do you use for binding/sliding the pages into the scrapbook?
(Any tips on finding 12x12 paper would be welcome, too! I think I'll prefer single-sided so I can rearrange the album if needed.)
Thanks!

I print 8x8 but I put them in a traditional scrapbook with sleeves. I don't have problems with the ink sticking to the plastic but they do sometimes have static cling. I find that if I wait overnight instead of putting them in the album right way, they have less cling.

epson makes a 12x12 scrapbook paper (I buy mine at adorama.com)

you can also check with Hawk Mountain Papers they have 9 different finishes in 12x12 size.

I buy 12x12 sleeves and custom covers from accent albums http://www.accentalbums.com/ (http://www.accentalbums.com/)
for the albums that I don't end up printing at shutterfly.

I print 8x8 but then mount on 12x12 card stock. (I have found I like the extra border around my LO for matting or extra embellishing.) As far as sticking issues, I haven't had any. Printing a LO is just like printing a picture for a paper LO, only bigger. :D I too have a Epson and all though it's not the most intuitive printer to use, it really has beautiful print quality. For my Christmas album, I do 8.5x8.5 and then mount them on 12x12. I've also been know to do an 11x11 with a strategically place cut line and mounted those on 12x12.

LOL - that is itself can sometimes make me think I'd need a doctorate in math to get it just right! ;) -c-

No math degree needed, you just need to make sure that you have less than 8.5 on both sides of your cut line. You can also use that piece of "non-digi" ribbon to hide it if you miscut!

What's photobook creator? I haven't printed any of mine out yet (I am very cheap). I was thinking of trying it this weekend. I do squares so I thought I'd print 8 x 8 since I only have a regular printer. I'm doing a baby album and once the printed pages are as I like the, I'd send them to shutterfly for printing but if you can bind them at home, I'm interested.

Thanks for the tips, everyone! I think I'll go ahead & use the sleeves I was planning to use, then. I also like the idea of mounting the printed pages on cardstock!
