Hi everyone,

Since I am a new designer around here I thought I would post a thread to get to know you all, I would love to hear about you. If you have any questions about me, just ask! ;-) Just to give you a bit of an intro...

I am Robyn and live in Sunny Queensland, Australia, and have been around digiscrap communities for some time, and have been going by the username clikchic, so if you see that username around, it is probably me! ;-) I am 35, married to Dean who is an upholsterer. We own our own upholstery business. We are going to be building a new house soon on a nice big block of land (http://clikchic.com/2008/07/06/photos-of-our-block/) on the outskirts of our city so that Dean can work from home, would rather be putting our rent money into a much nicer house! It should only be a matter of weeks now, before building starts on the new house. (http://clikchic.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/n786672424_1275515_17301.jpg)

I can't wait because we currently live in a very small 3 bedroom weatherboard home and it is getting a bit cramped, with very little cupboard space or room to move.

We have two beautiful children Jasmine who is 7 this month, and Kyan who is 4 in March. We had a lot of fertility issues and pregnancy losses so they are very treasured little human beings!

I currently work full time as an Admin Manager in a large accounting firm. I do the payroll, in house accounts and other back end stuff. I enjoy my job, but not as much as I love designing!

I have been designing for 4yrs now and due to health issues I haven't been able to produce as much as I would like but we have found a working treatment now so I hope to produce HEAPS from now on! ;-)

I still don't have an answer as to what my health issues are, for a while we thought I was Coeliac, but I wasn't getting any better eating gluten free, so I did a gluten challenge which showed I wasn't Coeliac after all. We don't have a firm answer yet as to what is wrong with me but at this stage it is looking like it is autoimmune, possibly something like lupus, or mixed connective tissue disease. :(

My rhematologist prescribed me with some prednisone and I feel like a new woman. I can finally function normally again, it is WONDERFUL! I finally have energy back again and can spend quality time with the kids and design and do all the things I want and need to do, which was previously getting harder and harder as time went on.

DSP was my original home when I first started digiscrapping and I am SO glad to be back here as part of the team, I love it here and it really feels like I have come home! :yippee:

I would love to hear more about you all as well so I can get to know you all better.

Well, welcome back to DSP.

Love the name Kyan. I have two little boys, Foxton and Taggart, so I am always on the look out for unique names for boys in case we decide to have any more children. Children truly are "treasured little human beings". I didn't have any issues getting pregnant, but I have had a few miscarriages.

I bet you are looking forward to paying towards your own home instead of someone else's. The house plan looks very roomy and open.

I am looking forward to seeing your products in the store.

Yes, I love the name Kyan too, we were watching Queer Eye when I was pregnant with him and one of the guys on there has that name, and we both loved it, so it stuck. ;-)

We own our current home and have lived there for about 12yrs now, but are renting the business premisis. But yes, hate paying the rent for that! It's SUCH a waste of money! We are building a shed as well as the new home for Dean to work from on our new block.

Hey Robyn, bummer about your health issues. My dad has lupus..very uncommon for a male. It took a bit to find out what was wrong with him too. Lupus is a disease that has heaps of differing symptoms and it is usually different in different people.

Good luck with the house building...we are renting atm, and are trying to save save save so we can get into our own place.

I'll be on the lookie for your designs in the store... I am sure they will be FAB!

Hi, I'm Heather. I'm currently on the DET here, so I hope can do your products justice in my layouts. I live in Maine (USA) and have been married to my husband Paul for almost 13 years. We have 2 boys, Connor (10) and Ian (6). Our family is riddled with autoimmune disorders so I know how frustrating it can be to even get a diagnosis let alone an effective treatment. Glad to hear your feeling better, though. Welcom and can't wait to see your products in the store!!

Thanks Krys & Heather!

Yes getting the diagnosis has been very frustrating. It has been going on for around 2 and a half years now, but I am much happier now that I at least have a treatment for it.

I am so nervous to see how well my designs will be received! You would think after 4 yrs I would be used to that by now! ROFL LOL I hope you will all enjoy them. ;-)

I have been working very hard to get lots of kits ready to go for the big day especially over my Christmas holidays. It has been keeping me rather busy!

Robyn - welcome back to DSP! And so sorry about the health issues.

I love both your kids names. I am an older mother, not lucky enough to start my family young and can understand how important those little lives can be. I have 2 boys, 5 years old, Sean & Patrick, and a daughter, almost three, Raichael (the Gaelic spelling). For now, by family and I live in Oregon (NorthWest Coast, USA), but home will always be Alaska. We hope to return someday very soon.

I'm looking forward to seeing your kits, challenges, and having tons of fun!

Hi, Robyn. It's so much fun to read about you, and see photos on your blog (nice looking blog!). Your excitement about coming back to DSP is infectious!

I live in Des Moines, Iowa (same place as Nicole) with my husband and almost 4 (she was just born yesterday, I swear) year old daughter. My husband and I were born and raised in Chicago, where we met and lived until 1996. We spent 6 years in Detroit, and a brief stint in Indianapolis before moving to Iowa. We love the smaller town life more than we ever thought (I guess it is all relative - Chicago, metropolitan population about 8 million, Detroit 4 million and Des Moines 600,000)!

Can't wait to see your designs hit the store!

What unusual spelling for your daughters name! Looks lovely! They are so very precious aren't they! There is not a day that goes by that I don't wonder how we got so lucky to have such great kids. My son likes to test the boundries but he is the biggest charmer, and my daughter is just an angel.

Thanks for your lovely compliments about my blog. I had fun redesigning it, it was LONG over due! He he Des Moines sounds BIG! LOL Our city has only 90,000 people in it! LOL Brisbane has about 1.8million I think and it is Queenslands capital. The Aussie population is MUCH smaller than the USA tho.

I was born in Melbourne. My parents migrated here from Holland before I was born, and we moved to Queensland when I was 1. I have been here pretty much ever since, although I did spend 12mths in Holland when I finished highschool on a working holiday, and after I came back and met hubby we moved to Brisbane for 2yrs, but then we moved back, and the rest of our families moved away! Just recently my brother and his family have moved back, which has been great because the kids get to spend time with their 2yr old cousin. It has been nice to have family closer by too.

Ooh this is fun, I love getting to know everyone! :love3:

Hi Robyn :yahoo:
So excited to see your forum and get to you know you too. I'm over here in Adelaide, born in Cape Town, South Africa and have lived in Adelaide (pretty close to where I landed) since 1991 - I was 16 when we came here and have now lived in Australia longer than I did in Cape Town.

No children for me yet, but I often 'steal' other children for scrapping (and have been known to beg for photos). And as you know I was recently single, but started the New Year in such a great place, that I am now dating someone who is really lovely (and this is my first official cat out of the bag moment) Its exciting and terrifying at the same time.

Sending you some happy immune building vibes and I keep checking the store all the time to see if new stuff has popped up for you yet. I will definitely be grabbing and scrapping.

Hey Robyn! Welcome to DSP from Sunny South Mississippi(USA)! I HAVE seen you around! LOL! I absolutely love your designs and you really shouldn't be nervous about designing here at DSP. Everyone here is just the BEST and you will settle in quite quickly.

I'm so happy that you are feeling better and i do hope that you learn something more concrete very soon!

I have been digital scrapping for about 4 years now and this is my first home, as well. I haven't been around much because of designing at another place but I plan to be here way more often now.

I have been married for 30 years to Kent. We have 1 son and two precious grandchildren, Alana and Taylor. We have both lived in Mississippi most of our lives. Kent was born here and I was born in Pennsylvania, but moved here when I was around 11. We both still work full time but LOVE to go on cruises for vacation...so you might see and hear allot about that from me!

Glad your here and am looking forward to seeing you ROCKIN' designs finally in the store! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :yahoo:

Had to giggle when I saw you write Rockin designs, my friends used call me Rockin Robyn in highschool. LOL Too funny! I hadn't heard it for a long time.

Wow 30yrs! That is a fabulous milestone! WTG! Dh and I have been married for 14.

Hi Robyn!! Greetings from Northern California. Glad to hear you've found a workable solution to your health problems. My fiance Shawn and I manage a rehab/transition facility. While we don't have any kids of our own we usually have kids visiting quite a bit.
We've used the paper scrapping as a tool in the recovery process....I'm the only one doing digital scrapping....for now...
Look forward to your designs

Paper Scrapping I imagine would be a wonderful tool for recovery! Is your weather as warm as ours right now.. It is sweltering at the moment and our aircon at work hasn't been working, better today thank goodness! It was yucko yesterday. I suppose it is still winter up in the northern hemisphere even if it is a warmer part of the country, it is the middle of summer here in Australia.

Hi Robyn.I've been a fan of your designs for some time now, and I judge designs by DSP standards, not too many out there that meet them. Can't wait to see your offerings in the store!
Sorry to hear about your health issues, glad you're getting some relief.
I've been digi-scrapping about 3 1/2 years, paper scrapping for a number of years previous. DSP is my first and forever digital home.
I have 6 kids, all grown. My baby is almost 17! I regret that I never had a good camera when they were little, but some day I will have grandkids and I'll be ready and waiting for pictures! LOL!
I sincerely hope that when you do schedule a chat time I will be able to attend. You can count on me to participate in challenges, regardless.

Robyn,

Your last post reminds me of my Navy days. There everything worth looking forward to was counted "x days and a wakeup" meaning that on the last day you didn't have to get through the whole day before the anticipated event occurred. Of course, our international composition and many, MANY timezones does make talking time very difficult.

I've been scrapping for about 2-1/2 years, a few months in paper and then discovered digital. Now my paper stuff mostly gathers dust.

I've been married to DH Art for 36 years, have one grown daughter Karen and son-in-law Brad.

Looking forward to your chats/challenges.

  Scamp here--looking forward to seeing your designs!

My four kids are grown and I am happily single with my cat in a small apartment with my computer! I have three grands--one in Tokyo, one in Seattle, and one in Dallas. I don't get nearly enough photos...:(

Wish you lived closer--I have a sofa that needs upholstering! I took a class and redid a chair once, and that was enough to learn that although I could do it, it wasn't something I would do again! Labor intensive, fun, but my hands and wrists don't have the strength to do it well!

Hi Robyn! Nice to "meet" you!
I love your childrens names..beautiful! And yes, they are precious little beings.
Australia has always been at the top of my "hope to visit" list...maybe some day. *sigh*

My name is Paula, but as I spend most of my stay-at-home time in my pjs, you can call me Pjz if you like. I live in a rural area in Kentucky with my husband and two boys--Zachary (7&1/2) and Jacob (5), who has Autism.
I haven't been digiscrapping long, and don't consider myself very good at it. So i'm looking forward to your inspiring designs and challenges to help me expand my abilities!

I can surely sympathize with you on your health woes! I have Mixed Connective Tissue Disease. I first got sick in 2005 but have finally begun to feel good. It is an exhausting, often depressing, road to find a good balance. Please fell free to pm me if you want to talk about it or have any questions.

So, um, when do your designs hit the store? Rockin Robyn, eh? Sounds like a good chat/challenge name to me.

Hi Robyn. It's great to 'meet' you. I watched the designer contest intently. I think your designs and myself will get along wonderfully. I envy your property. It is absolutely gorgeous. I can't wait to see the layouts of the new house.

I'm Christina. My user name MommaByrd is the name I was given by the neonatologist while Isabella and Kaylor were in the NICU. They were born @ 30 weeks weighing in at 958 grams (2.11lbs) each and 37cm (14 1/2in) which is just 7.62cm (3 .5in) taller than Barbie. My dynamic duo will be 6 at then end of February and are thriving. They are truly a blessing. We also have an 11 year old black and tan Dachshund, Ebanezer. Neilston is my love and we have been married 7 years.

Praises you've found a management plan that has you feeling better. I've been checking the store daily for new stuff and will continue.

I've been at DSP coming up 4 years this year, have never paper scrapped, found DSP whilst searching for tutorials to learn my programme, and stayed to learn digiscrapping:). I am still very slow at scrapping and dont get to enter too many challenges...I often buy the featured kit, then the deadline is past whilst I am still fiddling with my LO:(. I have lived here all of my life, been married over 40 years, have 3 children and 8 grandchildren including two sets of twins, all of whom make up almost the entire content of my gallery:). It is so nice to have an Aussie designer on the DSP team:)

Oh my it must have been scary having your babies born so early. I am so glad to hear that they are doing so well.

I am DYING to get a puppy, mention it to my dh and he will roll his eyes. ROFL. I am super clucky and there is no way we can have more kids, financially, health wise, or emotionally so my solution is to get a puppy and dh is being very cruel  and making me wait till we are in the new house. We used to have 2 dogs both of which died within months of each other (both were getting on a bit) a little while ago and I am really missing having a dog around.

I have decided I want a malteze x shi tzu as they seem like a good dog for kids, less malting which is good for the house and probably good for my autoimmune issues. I really want an inside dog, but hate the hair everywhere and am worried how it will effect my immune issues. Mind you, we have a cat who makes himself at home inside, but he is starting to get on a bit also and I don't think we will get a new cat when he dies. One pet is enough for a family of 4 me thinks! Oh maybe a goldfish at some stage, but that will be heaps I think!

He he, yup, we count sleeps at our house, the kids are always asking how many sleeps till this and how many sleeps till that. LOL

I did try paper scrapping once, but didn't get very far, I cut a few pieces of paper and decided it was too painful  and never went any further with it. I gave all my paper supplies (which weren't very many!) to my daughter to use. And then I discovered digital and I was instantly hooked as I love using the computer for stuff.

Oh it must be tough having your grandkids so widely spread out. I have always told myself I would move wherever my grandkids were (when that eventually happens!) but when they are in different places, it makes it a bit difficult! I will just have to hope they are all in the one city.

He he, I am quite partial to my pj's! Just ask my dh he never gets how much time I spend in them on weekends, but they are just so comfy!!!

My Rheumatologist at first thought I might have Mixed Connective Tissue disease based on the information and test results I initially gave him, but now after further testing he thinks it could be any one of them, as my results don't point to anything specific yet. My ANA is negative and nothing else is helpful. My tests mostly just show that I am anemic and that I have inflamation.

After all the research I have done I believe I might have Lupus (perhaps ANA-), but just that it hasn't developed enough for it to be conclusive. An endicrinologist I saw during my numerous doctors visits and investigations thought it was Lupus too. I would love to get a diagnosis, but for now, the prednisone is keeping me sane!

It was all taking so long to get anywhere with a diagnosis I was starting to think it was all in my head, but now that I feel relatively normal again thanks to the prednisone, (forgot what it was like!!) I know just how debilitating it really has been. I really don't know how I got through each work day and getting through an entire week was really tough. I relied on weekends to recouperate from the exhaustion of working all week. Thanks for sharing that you have MCTD, I may just send you a pm yet, because I would love to hear more about your experience with it.

He he, I think I know just where you are and we have a singer friend who has sung there a few times. At one stage she was in a band with my dh (he is a drummer), but she is more into country and dh is more into rock. She has a fabulous deep voice and red hair and a body to die for! LOL Now that she has a family I am not sure if she is still singing, she is one of my friends on facebook so I must ask her! WOW 40yrs what a fantastic milestone! 8 grandchildren! How cool would that be! I don't blame you for filling your gallery with them, it is rare I scrap anything other than my kids. LOL

Being back at DSP has been great for my scrapping, in the past 3 days I have done more layouts than I have previously done in 6mths!!! WAHOO!!! :yippee:

Hi Robyn! Congratulations on your becoming a Designer here! I can't wait to check out your kits. Glad to hear you are feeling better;hopefully soon you will nail down what it is you have and take it from there. Gosh, love the land and the house plans you are working with. I love Australia and always wanted to visit. But, alas, I hate to fly and you know how far it is to get their by plane!

I hail from sunny Tampa, Florida with my hubby of 30 years (Tim) and my Yorkie Jodie (lots of pics of her in my gallery...LOL!). We've been here 8 years; couldn't stand the cold from our home state of Connecticut any more. Been scrapping only about 2 years; I'm big on photography but my friend got me involved with the scrapping. I'm certainly having fun here at DSP and have learned a lot!

Thanks Norma! Yes, I am hoping that as the disease develops (hope that doesn't have to happen tho!) that it will become more obvious as to what it is.

Yes, Australia is a beautiful land and we are blessed with plenty of space to spread out on. That block is only 5 minutes drive from the nearest shopping centre but is still a semi-rural area. I can't wait to move out there, it is going to be fabulous, and there is a corner shop 2 blocks away, with a bakery and cafe as well. FABULOUS is all I can say!! :yahoo: I just can't wait wait till they start building, hopefully only a couple more weeks now! (just waiting for all the builders to come back from holidays...lucky buggers!)

I love photography myself and have partially completed my diploma. Was doing it nights part time several years ago but never got to finish it. (had kids instead! LOL) I hope to one day finish it although it has changed SOOO much since when I was doing it, with everything going digital!

I admit I'm crazy about my Dachshund and think everyone should love doxies as much as me. I can tell you Eban doesn't shed much at all. He is a short-hair which is similar to being covered in eyelashes. Another plus doxies are small which means less fur and little grooming.

He he, we used to have a Standard Fox Terrier and a short haired border collie. The foxie admittedly didn't shed (he had very short coarse hair) near as much as the border collie but he still did leave a reasonable amount of hair around. The border collie was shocking for shedding, we would get a plastic shopping bag full of hair each time we brushed her when she was shedding. I dread to think what a long haired border collie would be like! The undercoat is like wool.

Nah.. I definately want a dog that doesn't shed at all this time. ;-) I would rather have their hair trimmed a few times a year.

Hi Robyn! I'm Rene and I live in Texas. I have been married to DH Gary for 4 years. I have 3 great children. 2 daughters ages 22 & 16 (she just started driving ) and a son aged 19. We are a stepfamily. I work part time in our business doing bookkeeping and other odd jobs. I have been a digi-scrapper since last summer, so I'm still definitely learning.

I can sympathize with your health problems. In 2006 I went through 7 months of once-a-month bouts of pancreatitis. No one could seem to find out why I was having it since most people who get it have gall bladder issues or are heavy drinkers. Since I am neither of those, everyone was confused. Pancreatitis is not a fun thing. It is extremely painful. Finally I was sent to a specialist in Dallas who discovered I had a birth defect. He went in and fixed it. The procedure gave me the worst case of pancreatitis I could have ever imagined, but after that was over, I have never had another problem. Yay! :yippee: My prayers are with you.

I really look forward to seeing your designs in the store and checking out your chats and challenges!

Oh I am so glad you got your pancreatitis was sorted out, it sounds like it was nasty! I have had gall stones and they were bad enough!! I had my gall bladder out and all has been fabulous in that department since.

I emailed my rheumatologist this afternoon and he emailed me back within hours! On a Sunday! My symptoms have been worsening since reducing my prednisone dose so he is going to prescribe me another drug to help me taper of the prednisone. He said the fact I respond so well to the prednisone means that this other drug will be a good option for me and is better for long term use.

Just thought I would post an update for those of you interested in my health issues. ROFL

Those of you who aren't, block your ears, or rather cover your eyes! ROFL

I was reacting to the tapering of my prednisone dosage, by having a flare of my symptoms, so I emailed my Rheumatologist on Sunday afternoon thinking I might hear from him Monday or Tuesday. Within hours he emailed me back!

I asked him if I could go back to my original dosage because I was feeling so good on it, but because of the risk of toxicity he doesn't want me on it long term. He said however that the fact I responded so well to steroids indicates that I would be a good candidate for a steroid sparring agent called Plaquenil which is more suitable for long term use. YAHOOO! So he is sending me a new script for that as well as a new script for the Prednisone so that I can taper the dosage more slowly. He said the Plaquenil should help prevent the flare ups from tapering the prednisone dose.

How is that for service! I am SO impressed! Mind you it is 45mins drive to get to his nearest practice and he isn't cheap but at this point... sooo worth it!

I so hope this plaquenil is the long term answer for me to help me feel healthy. Fingers crossed!

PS. If you haven't guessed by now, I am pretty much an open book. ROFL I love to chat, so feel free to post away in this thread about your every day life and happenings.

It's good to hear that he's getting you slowly off the prednisone. My father got that so I know all about the long term side effect of it and it would be so much better if you got something you could live with for the rest of your life it that should be needed.

I hope so too! I just tried reducing my prednisone dosage again yesterday after being on the new medication for a bit over a week, so hopefully I don't get a flare up this time. I only reduced it by 2.5mg this time as well, and will try and take it real slow, although I need to get off it ASAP because I am really starting to pack on the weight now! I have enough of that ALREADY I really don't need more!!! :yikes:

Yes, I had a check up at my gp's last week as I had to get a script renewed and my blood pressure was high from the prednisone. I have NEVER had high blood pressure before so it was a bit of a shock. I definately need to get off it ASAP.

Good luck Robyn!! I hope that medication works well for you!

Me too! Fingers crossed, so far so good! It apparently takes a while to work tho so I guess I have to wait and see.

A bit of chatter from me.. my eldest baby girl turned 7 on the weekend! Sigh.. time just goes WAY too fast. She also started grade 2 yesterday. She had a wonderful day which is great because I have heard some not so great things about her teacher. Fingers crossed she continues to like her new teacher! ;-)

My youngest little man is meant to be moving up to the next class in daycare but doesn't want to go, I hope they are able to transition him ok, he spent the day in his old class yesterday. LOL He loves his routine and doesn't like things to change. Poor fella! he keeps saying he will want to go up to the next class when he is four, which is in March. LOL

Robyn, I worked in daycare for 10 years, and those transitions can be hard on the little ones, but I always found if we let them go over to the new class when there was something fun going on and they only stayed for a bit, then did that several times, the transition was much easier than if the teachers just suddenly one day moved them for the whole day out of the blue. They like to be back in their own environment for routine things like meals and naps until they feel more comfortable. Good luck with that and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your daughter!

That is good to know Rene. When I spoke to his teacher she said she thought he might want to go when he realised all his other friends were going up to the new room. So far not yet, but they are pretty good there so I am sure they will get him up there somehow! :-) They will probably put him in there for short periods as that is what they have done previously. He did go into the room a few times last year for short period and they normally do transition them that way, but I suspect it might have been a little too long ago now. He is obsessed with doing everything when he is 4! LOL

He says he is going to start packing up his toys when he is 4, pee standing up when he is 4, and now the latest, go up to the new room when he is 4. Too funny. Wonder what he will do when he actually turns 4 in March! LOL Oh and he is apparently also going to be taller than his sister when he is 4!

Thanks Jan!

It has been quite hard dealing with it up until now, but now that there is light at the end of the tunnel I am feeling sooo much more hopeful. I am SO happy that I can do things I want to do again and do as MUCH as I want to do again. It was so frustrating being too exhausted at night time to do much of anything. I just got that tired I couldn't even think straight. I still do at times, but at least it is not every day anymore like it was.

I am SO excited that this new medication might be the answer for me, hopefully it will kick in sooner rather than later so that I can get off the Prednisone, mind you I feel great on the prednisone, but now that the side effects are starting to crop up I am getting a bit leery of it! LOL

I think I am just so happy I can spend more time designing and doing other things I enjoy rather than just living to work which is not much fun. I am back to my old glass half full self and it feels great. I forgot what that felt like!!! :-)

Oh wow, 31, yes, your daughter is only slightly younger than me. :-) It goes so darn quick, people keep telling me before you know it she will be a teenager, and I just tell them to shush up.. I don't want to know about that just yet, it goes fast enough as it is!!!

That's funny. At least March isn't too far away, but my guess is that when he's 4 he may come up with a new time frame for making the change of rooms. I'm glad they are trasitioning him slowly. My son had severe stranger and separation anxiety when he was young, so these types of changes really through him into a tailspin and were very difficult for me. Now we think he has very mild autism, so that could have been part of the problem too.

He he, glad to hear our plans meet your approval! ;-) We are pretty happy with them, we wanted something simple and an open plan. We are still waiting for them to get through certification which is driving me crazy. The sewerage has been approved, just waiting for the rest now. Wish they would hurry up I am itching for them to start building!! The lounge room will probably be a play room to start with since we don't have any furniture for it yet! Will be nice to have somewhere to put the kids stuff too instead of everywhere else in the house! LOL

Eventually we are going to turn the Lounge room into a Theatre room but that will be a while yet!

Caro's loss is very sad indeed. :-(

Sorry I keep missing your messages on facebook, I tend to have about 10 tabs open at a time and often dont' notice the message blinking until you are already offline. Plus I leave our computer on 24/7 so sometimes it probably looks like I am online when I am away from the computer.

How exciting that I get to meet you all, I am so excited about going to the crop! I will be there from Thursday till Sunday so it will be fun. I am going to miss my kids like crazy tho, I don't think I have ever been away from them that long before!!! Oh yeah and I suppose I will miss hubby too! LOL

I don't think you need to have all three of you on the crop register to get the crop rate, the fact you are all in the one room should be enough since one of you is attending.

Sounds like you have lots of fun planned for the crop day! Sounds great!

Just thought I would share, because I am a tad excited! They have finally started earth works on our block in preparation for our new house. They have cut in and leveled the block ready for the next step! WAHOO.

So I am going to bore you now with progress photos…likely to be a regular occurance! It is a little hard to tell on these photos, but the block is semi-rural (but only 5mins drive from city) and a touch over an acre in size.

http://clikchic.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/blockcutin-11-300x200.jpg (http://clikchic.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/blockcutin-11.jpg)

This is where the house is going to be on the block. It is a bit hard to see but on the second photo just behind this main cut in part, the shed (where dh will be working from home) is going to be a little lower down.

Well yes, hopefully when we move. I have managed to convince dh that we NEEED a puppy so I don't get too clucky as I need something to baby. LOL

I really want a Shi-tzu (sp?) x Maltese, they don't shed, are small and seem like a good breed mix. Don't want a white one tho because we have such a big block and they will likely get grubby. This is what they look like (http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/maltizu)isn't it ADORABLE!!! I would love a tan or black one.

The hardest part will be getting dh to hurry up and get the front fence up once the house is built. The block is fenced on 3 sides already which is great.. so once the house is built we just have to do the front fence.

That is an ADORABLE page! Love it!

We had two, both old but they died a few years ago. We had a Border Collie and Standard Foxie which we got pre kids. I really must do a layout of them! Our daughter loves dogs, but our son is scared of them because he doesn't remember ours anymore.

He is starting to warm up to the idea now however as he is seeing my brothers dog a little more often now that he lives nearer by. His main stipulation is that it is not a white dog! ROFL It has to be black or brown. Same for me, but for different reasons! LOL Apparently he doesn't like white dogs! ROFL

I hate the idea of him being scared of dogs, so that is another reason I want to get one. I think it is good for kids to have pets. We have a cat, but he is getting rather old and doesn't show much interest in the kids, and when he does, he only annoys them. LOL

I am looking forward to having a little lap dog! :-) It will be good to teach the kids how to look after it too. I think that is important.

Wait until you have the framing up. They are going to have a blast trying to imagine where everything will be. And walking "through" the walls.

Told you I was going to bore you all to tears with our house progress didn't I?? :D

Here is another update...(from my blog)

Oh it is so very exciting watching the house progress. I have been hanging for the frame to go up to get a better feel for where everything was going to be and as crazy as it sounds, now that the frame is up it is already starting to feel like home!

We went and had a look yesterday and I took some photos. Apparently the roof trusses are going up today so we will go and have another look this afternoon.
Anyway, here are the pics! http://clikchic.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

http://clikchic.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/frame-house-300x200.jpg The frames are up!

http://clikchic.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/frame-garage-300x200.jpg (http://clikchic.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/frame-garage.jpg) You can kind of see the hall leading from the garage to the bedrooms in this pic.

he he! Me too! I can't wait!! :yahoo::yahoo:

It will be so nice to have a nice big new home instead of a teeny one built in the 50's in need of repair! LOL Our current one is a weatherboard home, and the kitchen and bathroom and almost all of the inside except for the laundry has been renovated, but the outside needs some TLC which we just don't have the time to give. Hence our wanting a BRICK home this time round!!

It will be so nice to spread out a bit...

I took some more photos yesterday of the roof trusses. didn't have a chance to download them from my camera yet, will hopefully do that tonight with any luck! ;-) it is reallys starting to look like a house now! Wahoo!!! :yippee:

Yes, it is rather exciting, I have some more photos of the trusses finished, but haven't had a chance to download them from my camera yet. The roof is supposed to be going up this week but I haven't been out to check on it yet. (the block is out of town so after picking up kids there is not always time to head out there)

Might see if I can go out there today although i don't have my camera with me! DOH!
Must remember to bring my camera tomorrow!

There has been more work done since these photos, but I haven’t been back to have another look yet. They were doing the windows on Thursday and I suspect the roof might be finished by now. The electrical wiring was being done on Thursday as well.

Anyway, here are my last lot of photos, this is the first chance I have had to post them! At least you get to see the roof colour, even tho it isn’t finished yet! Images are clickable to larger versions.

Thanks! Yes, it is very exciting! I might have to drive out there later today to have another look, unfortunately I don't have my camera as dh is away this weekend doing a triathalon and has it with him.

They are! It is Autumn/Fall here at the moment but the weather is still in the mid 20's. (celcius) and the weather is still quite good. Mind you are winters are generally fairly mild anyway. We only get below zero once or twice over winter and our average is in the mid teens. We have been having some BEAUTIFUL days the past week or so.

Yup, I really did slip in the tub. We have a shower bath, there must have been some residue from the kids last bubble bath or something as it normally isn't that slippery and BOY did it hurt, and I am so glad that no-one was there to see it, it would NOT have been a pretty sight!

We went to the house on Saturday and there were a couple of painters there painting the eves. They have finished painting the inside and the tilers are putting the tiles in this week. We have a completion date of the 18th but not sure if we will have the key then or not, not sure how that works.

I took some photos on Saturday but haven't had a chance to download them from the camera yet. The power was out all day yesterday thanks to some emergency work on the power lines. So much for doing another kit yesterday!!

We can't get inside the house anymore now that it is at lockup, unless we make an appointment or someone happens to be there, and since you can only make appointments during the day when I am at work, we haven't been getting out there much.

I did manage to pack a few boxes during the power outage yesterday.. there is still SO much more to do tho!

sorry to hear about the fall. I'm glad you didn't hurt yourself anymore than a bruised bottom. It must be exciting to be getting close to the move. Moving is exciting, but packing...not so much.

It is exciting! We have soo much packing to do tho! Yuck.. hate packing but at least we are sorting through all our junk that has accumulated in the 12-13 yrs we have been living in our current house.

I packed one box from our office cupboard and it barely made a dent, I guess I did put all smaller stuff in that one, all the precious things like software boxes etc. LOL Maybe once I start packing big lever arch folders and photo albums it might look a bit better. LOL I am looking forward to getting to throwing out tax paperwork older than 5 yrs! THAT will be fun.. might have to hold a ceremony as well. ROFL

Yeah we love The Mentalist too, he is soo darn cheeky. LOL I don't normally go for blondes but hey, will have to make an exception for Simon! LOL I thought someone had already taken Hugh Jackman dag nabbit, he would have been my first choice but I guess Simon beat him too it. ROFL Hmm, maybe I need to take them both.. must see if I can include Hugh in that there pic. ROFL

Which reminds me, he can't be too fussed, you should have seen him and my brother, their eyes dropping out of their heads when a bunch of young girls walked into the restaurant we were at yesterday! Sheesh, you would think they were teens themselves and not nearly 40yr olds! Dirty old men!:rofl:

They were having a discussion about how teenagers didn't look like that when they were that age! ROFL They decided they just didn't know how good they had it and were too spoilt for options. ROFL

I haven't updated this thread in a while and I would love to hear how everyone is doing??

I have been a bit quiet of late between moving, illness and my computer being naughty.

Thankfully we have now finished moving (but not so much finished unpacking!! - we have tons of boxes to unpack in the garage) and are settling in nicely into our new home.

We are so loving having a lot more space around us and really enjoying living in a much nicer neighbourhood. (we live in a semi rural area on the outskirts of our city)

Our cat has settled in much better than I expected. I honestly expected him to go missing on us because he is at 15 getting on a bit, but he took it slow and he is looking happier and healthier than he has since our dogs died a few years ago.

I am still itching for a new puppy (maltese x shitzu) but have to wait till we have a fence for it. That won't happen till we sell our old house as paying two mortgages is sending us broke!!!

My health is on the improve because I have finally started a medication that is actually doing something that isn't nasty side effect wise, like cortisone. Each time my rheumy increases my dose I feel a little bit better again and am starting to feel like I have a bit more energy than before.

My computer has been misbehaving over the past few months which has contributed to my spending less time at DSP than I would like and particularly giving me less design time because everything was taking so darn long. Anyway, we finally worked out that it was the old hard drive I was using as a c drive that was causing the problem and so I took it out and put windows on a much newer hard drive and it is now working much faster like it SHOULD be! Wahoo! It was getting so frustrating for a while there, but thankfully it is chugging along nicely again now.

So anyway, that is what has been happening at my end of the world, I want to hear how things are going with you????

Robyn, so happy to hear from you and to hear that things are improving for you. It must feel great to finally get a med that actually helps you. I am praying that you will continue to get better.

I hear you about the computer problems. I had my own several weeks ago. First it was dragging so badly, then some virus came in and took me down. DH was able to get the virus at a stand still long enough for me to back up everything, then he formatted the hard drive and started from scratch. Running much better now!

Busy season is kicking in for me. DD is in marching band and every weekend there is a competition, football games or parade. DS is getting ready to start fall swim league. And I am gearing up for the busy Christmas season in my shop. I hope I can find time to scrap!

Good to see you jumping back in. I see you're going to be designing in Multiplicity. It was so much fun to watch the last one come together. And a Pinch and Punch chat coming up, right?
