View Full Version : Designakit Winakit 5
Here's the 1st post (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29073) to help you along. It's a lot like Lauren's Gimme A Clue if you play that with her!
I'd love it if you could link the swatch thumbnails in here too
1st I'll need color suggestions, then I will ask for background ideas. After finish the backgrounds (all 4) I will then show them for element suggestions, after all the elements are done (I'll show them as i finish them) I'll put it up for name suggestions.
Winners- 1 for color scheme, 1 random, 1 for naming.

Do we need to put the colors in the gallery or just an image in here?

Here is one I have had for a while:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3019/3095211441_9fd4825601.jpg?v=0
an image here however you get it is great. If you can't get it in here, a link to the gallery is fine too.
Here's my colors....

Thanks... I am so glad I can do it that way. I have started adding my color schemes to flickr so they are not all over the gallery.
hmmm, so far I can't figure out how to get the image in the post without it being part of my signature....off to study the tutorial section again...took me most of a year to figure out the signature thing... lol
also what are the pixels/size for posting a swatch for Design a kit? I have no idea and I'll just be guessing if I don't ask :)

I am sitting here trying to figure out what color mood I am today
Leea, right click on the image you want to post and click properties- copy the image location and then paste that url into img tags- here's your image.
i'm not fussy on the size.
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/data/500/WinterRose_gallery_image_lah.jpg
okay, I went with a swatch in my gallery, Winter Rose:
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=296065&ppuser=110260
The colors remind me of not only flowers (the photo is a dark red rose from my garden) but the browns remind me of chocolate and there's a silver-gray swatch for bling and sparkle :)

I'm not sure how to put it here, but here's a link to my colors. They remind me of spring, which I am wholeheartedly wishing for right now:

I'm enjoying so much picking colors out of my pictures!! After the last challenge I picked out some of my favorite pictures and pulled colors from them. Here are a few that I think would be TONS of fun!

Gosh, I just found this thread and would love to join in.
I'd like to see a purple (on the top) background with a swirly creme/ivory (bottom) pattern.
wuvie
01-06-2009, 06:48 PM
I am really in to grunge right now, stains and spotches.
Tiny pin stripes and faded harliquin diamond patterns
minnmom79
01-06-2009, 07:24 PM
a background that looks like it made with colored shaving cream using the yellows.
a swirly background or something with polka dots and swirls in the blues.
HeatherL
01-06-2009, 07:35 PM
I would like to see a stripe background using all the swatch colors but with some thin and thicker stripes with a faint embossed pattern over top or in between alternating stripes.
Jeanet
01-06-2009, 07:44 PM
Polka dots! Small dots in the two blue colors!
took the suggestion of the multicolor stripe and grungy

01-06-2009, 08:34 PM
oh very nice!
It looks manly
How about faded like a pair of favorite jeans or scruffed leather.
HeatherL
01-06-2009, 08:55 PM
What about the dark blue color with a bit of texture (or any color) with a grungy overlay effect on the edges.
moog25
01-06-2009, 09:13 PM
Ooh! I love the grungy stripes. I'd like to see the lighter blue with a faded design in the dark blue and cream (Paisley or swirls?) and a grungy edging, also in the dark blue.
bamabreeze10
01-06-2009, 09:14 PM
how about a linen/grunge textured paper in solid colors... maybe a yellow or blue to match the stripes?
Dani B
01-06-2009, 09:37 PM
I think the darker blue solid would look great scuffed and worn looking too. The way a nice comfy worn pair of jeans does.
Dani B
01-06-2009, 09:41 PM
I love the paisly idea, maybe done in two shades of the blue - with added tiny dots of both the yellow and golds in it.
How about the blues swirled together with the other colors used for flowers sprinkled across it?
Maybe the lighter (cream?) color with a blue swirl or glitter border?
bamabreeze10
01-06-2009, 10:47 PM
what about orange with cream (or cream with orange) swirls around the border or on the corners?
How about one of the blues as a background with the other colors or one of the colors as stars sprinkled on the background?
I heard worn, comfy jeans a couple times!
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/../gallery/data/1624/DesignakitWinakit5_2.jpg
How about the lighter (cream?) as a background with colorful little daisies/flowers sprinkled across the paper?
honeymoon
01-06-2009, 11:28 PM
One of the orangey colours with circles of blue spots on it.
bamabreeze10
01-06-2009, 11:30 PM
what about an orange paper with that blue diamond pattern (sorry... I can't think of the name of it to save my life!)
wuvie
01-07-2009, 12:34 AM
Oh wow, how perfect is that!
Ok, I am going to stay on the more manly track I think
I have always been partial to cream color with specks of just about any other colors.
tweeds
graph paper
stitched leather (like those yellow work gloves)
tiny broken pin stripes like a suit jacket
you can tell me to hush now
great ideas ladies. I finished the last 2 backgrounds.
Now on to elements!

01-07-2009, 12:58 AM
Ooh I love those pages!! How about some brads/eyelits in the flower pattern from the paper? or a raffia style ribbon? or maybe a distressed picture frame that holds multiple pictures (like 2 or 3)?
wuvie
01-07-2009, 01:08 AM

metal name plate

Flower brads
Ribbon ( like that cream thickly woven ones, can't remember what they are called) printed with flowers like the paper's.
janetklm
01-07-2009, 07:04 AM
Double frame (maybe in the jeans clolor with the flower pattern from the background) and tied wit a jute (hope that's the right word) ribbon and knotted bow.
brads and eyelets
Here are some fancy brads :)

This is turning in to a "oh, this would be perfect for..." kit
I am still pushing for a belt with buckel type ribbon or sash :love2:
Patch style journal/date/name block
larger versions of the little flowers on the paper for clustering
tattered frames
baflien
01-07-2009, 09:10 AM
Ah I remember now twill tape is the name or webbing, I think, lol
how about a cream colored bow...the bow tie shaped kind with wide loops?
bamabreeze10 mentioned a raffia ribbon..is that the crinkled/wrinkled paper looking ribbon? I like that idea, those ribbons are cute! :) the bow would be cute in raffia too :)
how about a blue moon (or yellow or cream) and a yellow sun?
mariafer
01-07-2009, 09:56 AM
I love these papers they are so great
Chipboard flower in covered in one of the patterned papers and distressed... kind of what you would find in paper scrapbooking... or even in a solid color but nicely distressed
A chipboard frame in cream nicely distressed and chunky... maybe kind of long and thing... panoramic
mariafer
01-07-2009, 09:57 AM
I didn't click on page 4 I guess... now that I see the fancy brads I want a nice stamp swirl... or overlay... but mostly the swirl to go with it.
Edit to add: On my way out I got another idea... how about a piece of flair with just the flower from the patterned paper in big. I just saw some flair pieces in paper scrapping that were so cute and thought what a great idea to scrap with... so anyway...
sueya
01-07-2009, 10:04 AM
I'd like to see some buttons , a flower shaped brad or a stitched frame.
gram2nic
01-07-2009, 11:02 AM
Stacked ribbons with a little rick rack and bound with staples.
Torn and tattered journaling paper
A chipboard frame in cream nicely distressed and chunky... maybe kind of long and thing... panoramic
I read, panoramic, distressed frame, but not the chipboard part. DOH! Hope this is OK anyway!

I love it... No need for the chipboard... I add chipboard to everything I read... but I like this better... not as bulky...
minnmom79
01-07-2009, 11:55 AM
a knotted ribbon with colors from the diamond paper
an old grungy parchment piece for journaling
idtwinmom
01-07-2009, 12:19 PM
I think a pretty ribbon to match the paper with flowers, with or without a bow, or maybe a little bouquet of those flowers. I love the fact that they are small and delicate, but colors you can use on a boys page too!

You know how when you look at something you get flashes of memories or feelings?
When I look at this, I get the picture of curled up in an over stuffed chair with a good book and hot tea.
I know, I am weird :o
torn or frayed journal block
Cluster flowers
mariafer
01-07-2009, 12:56 PM
I feel the same way... makes me want to go get all snuggled up... too bad I have no time for that...
I am still going to root for a cream swirl stamp...
and for a cute flair button... although maybe instead of a flower how about a multicolored word that says some thing like you, snuggle
A knotted ribbon.. .maybe with circles and maybe solid.
diturpin
01-07-2009, 03:05 PM
how about a rusty metal element...not sure exactly what...I was thinking a hinge or maybe an old key or something...although that doesn't' go well with the jewels...
folded creased note paper for journaling
folded stapled ribbons/rick rack
grungy postage stamp/postcard
happybeingamom
01-07-2009, 03:42 PM
Open face spiral notebook for journaling
A bookmark with a tassel.
maybe an old key or something...although that doesn't' go well with the jewels...
I made it a shiny key to match the jewels :)

I like Caro's idea of the flower, but would love to see it something dainty and small, like the flowers on the BG. And still like the ribbon idea.
Ok, I went with Lynnie's suggestion of a chipboard title...
and I added Lisa's suggestion of something danity- flower brads have been mentioned a lot, i made eyelets instead :)

I was thinking a heart shaped locket before I saw the key. The key confirms it - a heart shaped locket. Count me in on the grungy torn fabric flower. I think it'll balance the kit perfectly for using with boys & girls.
Can't wait to see what you add because I'm already loving the kit.

Ok ladies.. I did a couple pieces I think you might like, but weren't actually asked for! Don't shoot!
I did the circle with the gems and the tall viney gold piece with the gems.
I added Christina's locket to the key (they are one element) and made the ribbon with the little flowers.
Hope you like.
