This Flair thingie is driving me nuts!! Every Flair I put together looks like a blind monkey did it!! Then I look at all the wonderful goals everyone has and feel like a slacker scrapper. My goal is to just get my purchases downloaded before the link expires. So I'm going to embrace my flairlessness and be a flairless floozie(forgot who in the granny thread came up with the name) who's ready to join me???

love that name!!! and you know, i only did my flair so there would be a few up on the first when we announced it! i've not had time to stop and think about goals or make it pretty!!! maybe one day. (but don't tell anyone, i'm trying to set a good example, k?) :D

I'm a floozie, too. When I got back to work from Christmas vacation I was slammed, and I leave Friday to celebrate my Dad's birthday with him in L.A. So I'll get to my flair - someday. Maybe after I send out my Christmas cards.

Thanks for starting the club. Think we should make a piece of flair for it?

Oh Brenda! What a great idea!!!! I only wish I had seen your club before I spent multiple hours trying to come up with a flair. I would have joined immediately!!!

I am flairless. I can also be a floozy...so I spose this is the place for me.:)
I may get one organised one day, but for now, I need to stop procrastinating and get out of my scrapping rut.

I'll say. Me too! :(
And I'm the one who had to turn off her signatures so that I could just read the forum posts without getting distracted by those shiny flair thangs! :love2:

I am currently a Flairless Floozie, mainly for the same reason that jestep is...maybe Ill get round to it one day...but not the goal setting...Im definitely allergic to goal setting:) I like jesteps goal and Freda has one I like too, ie: No Goals:D:D

I have a flair, but no goals. I don't do well with goals. I just like the idea of not having a million links in my siggie, because I always have trouble with that too! So I'm a half slacker like Julia I guess!! :D

I spend hours working on my flair, then found that was too big in my signature for me....I wanted room for some more layout images, etc, so I changed it to a Reminder Border :) I'm putting in flairs for challenges I want to remember that I'm doing (and a few for fun or because they're pretty and I like them :) ) I do like looking at flairs in other signatures and seeing what cool buttons, etc. that they have on their flares :)

Well, I've got flair and I've got goals (who wants to bet if I even get half of that done). However, I can guarantee that that little ticker will probably never get moved. ;) Does that make me a half FF? OH..that would make me an F.

And for the Goal-less Wonders (fits standard goal buttons bar):

Well, I was bored so I thought I'd try the flair thing. I can see why some people had problems, but I figured it out and wrote this little tut!!
I thought I'd write this little tut for those who have been having problems making a flair card (Sabina?). It's quite easy when you know how.

1. Open a New Document 480 pixels wide and 360 high by 72 ppi.

2. Open the Large Flair Buttons folder and bring both into your program and onto your New Document.

3. Open the Designer backgrounds you have chosen.

4. Right on the Designer background jpeg, using your rectangular marquee tool, select all across the page and about an inch down. Copy and paste. The Transform and reduce this to a very tiny piece. Bring this into your document and it will be a manageable size to work with. (When you close the backgrounds, DON'T SAVE LOL. Then just clip two different bg's onto the flair pieces just like any Quick Click.

5. A tiny drop shadow makes them stand out nicely. The ticker is a lot of layers. If you turn all of them off one by one you can see what you are working with and choose what you want.

I hope this helps!!

I still haven't finished, but, hey, for a lazy person, I'm quite proud of myself!!!

I agree with all the goal-less people, it's just not in me to set/keep goals. But I may have to stick that goal free zone in my sig, it's perfect!! Thanks Ruby!!

ohhhhhh, I just read and I am delighted out of my skin....I have GOALS, BUT I don't have the flairy bits - my laptop won't let me....and I don't mind too much.....I am just so glad that I am not the only one. What a fabulous idea to open this FFC thread. Not sure if I can waffle daily because I do have goals, but I will try. Maybe this one won't be as busy as the GT.....

01-08-2009, 04:25 PM

01-08-2009, 04:28 PM
Bendi, PQ came up with it and came running into the Feeding Thread and called me a Flairless Floozie. We are chained to the Flairless Button, hahahaaaaaaa. Wait till she sees this, she will die laughing.....Look at the GT, you will see her calling me a flairless flozzie when the flair thing came out and I said that I can't do it....besides the blinking and flashing was driving me nuts.....
LOL, yep, it's all P.Q. idea - I think.

sabina_canada
01-08-2009, 04:31 PM
YESS, we need a button....what a great idea for this thread, Bendi..Maybe someone can create the button for us? but that would make us flairy and we don't want to have a flair!

LOL, Tiffany, get rid of your flair, hehe. We are flairless here. Actually I am glad my laptop won't recognize the bitsy things but maybe I am also a rebel and non-conformist like one of you said earlier in the thread. Just going through all the comments and adding my waffle to it. Lol, as if I have nothing better to do....
what a great idea.....

WELL, I don't know, Cathiemarie, (grumbling) but where did you find the ticker???? I might just have a look - not that I am interested, of course, but one can always have a look.......do you think you could share the ticker site with me? lol.....I AM STILL A FLOOZIE, of course. Flairless too.

01-08-2009, 09:52 PM
u go girl.....glad you quit. oxygen and breathe are such a fabulous gift....such a miracle and so wondrous.....had a yoga instructor last nite. we filled our lungs as full as we could sitting in the dark fully relaxed and counting to four. at four you are completely full of air. then, and all thru your nose, count to six exhaling. at six, your lungs should be empty. try it, and watch it all improve over then next few weeks....you will love the luxury of being cleansed by oxygen. i just loved it......so, keep that ticker up and work to move that slider. you have my best wishes and a prayer too.

I'm still Flairless and still a Floozie, but I had to get me a ticker - so come on girls, cheer me on - I just HAVE to acheive this goal.

I guarantee you can do it, kiddo. I was a 3-pack-a-day smoker for nearly 20 years. I quit in 1978 and haven't touched one since. Once you're past the physical part (which doesn't last too long, BTW), the REALLY hard thing is breaking your habits.

I couldn't believe how firmly entrenched my behavior was -- wanted a cigarette every time I answered the phone, got in the car, had a glass of wine, was happy, was sad........well, you get the point. And notice I said "wanted" not "craved." I would get so discouraged when people would say things like, "I quit 20 years ago and still want a cigarette." But wanting and NEEDING are two completely, completely different things.

Three things helped me quit -- hypnosis, wearing a big rubberband and snapping my wrist hard when I thought about smoking, and grabbing a glass of water every time I did something that was usually accompanied by a cigarette -- like answering the phone. I even ended up losing 10 pounds while I was quitting.

Also, as much as it always got on my nerves to hear people talk about taking things one day at a time, that's exactly what I had to do. To anyone who hasn't smoked it will sound ridiculous but the thought of never having a cigarette for the rest of my life actually made me panic. (I was VERY addicted!) But I told myself that I could do anything for one day and it worked. :D

My last piece of advice from atop this soapbox :love2: is never touch a cigarette again -- period. Don't hand one to anybody, light one for anybody, etc. And you will be amazed at the number of people who will try to sabotage your efforts -- really. I literally have not touched a cigarette or a pack of cigarettes since July 7, 1978. If I ever touch one, I'll take a puff. If I ever take a puff, I'll be back to chain smoking. People made fun of me for being so prissy about it but it worked. :yahoo:

You can do it -- yes, you can!!!

OK, so this is my new favorite thread!!! I've even removed my flair so I could post :)

SABINA---I wanted to PM you so bad that your presence was being requested at the FFC, but I didn't want to insinuate that you're a floozie, even in good fun! So I'm glad you found your way in here!

And goals...hmmm...they just don't work out for me, especially when I look back through my gallery. I want to scrap what comes to me, not what I feel like I have to... The layouts in my gallery that I LOVE are those that weren't for a specific challenge or deadline oriented.

Will you all please have me now that I'm flairless and goalless???

CM - best of luck to you, honey, we are ROOTING FOR YOU!!!

I tried to do the flair thingy but baby tornado (my 2-yr old ds) had a different plan so I gave up. Can I join the club? I think it would be easier than actually accomplishing any goals this year...:D.

So is there a 12-step program to follow??

:( Roberta....thats part of my problem....:cry: I've never worked with a QC...and I can't figure it out....:cry::cry:

I'm a floozy!!!!

I love this thread, so I'm joining. I was so glad I finally managed to get a few blinkies, I don't feel like spoiling my *interesting* signature.
And in order to not go with the flow I'm posting here - together with another 200 that want to be different. LOOOOLLL.

So if you're all Flairless Floozies does that make us Flair Babes? Hah! I can just see the competitions brewing. "Hi, I'm an FF." "And I'm an FB." Or maybe we should go even further with gang tats?

sabina_canada

lol, lol, Kaliko, I was just off to bed and then saw your posting. Now you are really putting ideas into our flairless fabulous fantastic floozie heads....maybe we can have a gang WAR? because of course WE think that Flair Floozies is the way to go!!!!!!!!!!!
Ha, let's see the Babes coming up with a thread like ours!!!!!!!!!!
I am off to bed smiling my flairless floozie smile which you dear Kaliko produced. Just think: having two GANGS at DSP, hahahaaaaaa. Have a wonderful sleep, FB.
Hugs from a confirmed FF.

LOL, Tiffany, you are too funny. You removed your flair??????? well, welcome to the FF sisterhood.......
and WYNDY, I have the same problem: my brain fries up when I even think of a QC.......I have had tutorials sent to me, Roberta and Jennifer trying to help, I cannot do it. I am simply giving up the ghost and go without. Like I did without the flair, which makes me a very proud FF.
Hugsssssssss. I am off to my FF bed.

I think of that card actually as the "Flair"....otherwise we have buttons or badges.

We are like Girl Scouts who get the badges but can't show them off cause we don't have a sash..:annoyed:

The reason I say this is because we have a badge for the FFC's (sounds like a wrestling association, like the WWF) So if we show that off, we are out of the club if we call it a Flair, but if its a "button"....we are so in.

sabina_canada
01-10-2009, 11:56 AM
Roberta, I am not good with digital terms or expressions, but I work with layers all day, like blending and putting one on top of the other. Is that what is called 'clipping together'??????? I am hopeless because I normally play around but have no idea what I am doing. Though if a QC is like replacing a formal frame, I think I can do without. I normally use proper frames ? is it anything like this? I have at least five or six QC in my folders, but never used them, lol.......:o:o:(:D:doh:

I just had a great idea: isn't it just as easy to use a plopper???????????????????
whoppee, why not a plopper instead of a QC???? Lol. Ok. Take a laugh at me. That's the idea of this thread. Let's laugh....because even if you were laughing I would know that it's not out of nastiness, but meant with love and understanding. That's what is so good about you FFs.....and well, alright, I include the FB too. Not that THEY BELONG! Let's be clear: a FF is a FF only if she doesn't have the contraptions of FLAIR! OTHERWISE they are a FB....

Amen to that sister floozie....I saw that someone made their flairs itty bitty and I thought they were kind of cool but that ticker thing would be drive me up a wall for sure and goals.. Well I already feel like my life is just one big "way behind" mess... So goals are not the deal for me..

Tiffany, so glad my siggi is not driving you nuts..it is a little big but I kind of wanted to be a little loyal to DSP without committing to the flairs....OMG, I really don't know how these flair people keep up with those things. Imagine adjusting their goals daily, hahahaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Wendy is it! Although Wyndy works to...all those vowels start to sound the sam after awhile.
I have about 15 more years before retirement. I"ll have to be happy with unorganized files until then and rely on my memory for what I have and don't have..:yikes:

I will NOT make a goal to better organize my files! I WONT, I WONT, I WONT :annoyed:

what is sleep? s l e e pppp????????? I can't remember having had a good night for the last five or so years......I finally got some sleep around 3.30 a.m. last night but slept in till 10 this morning.......I don't care anymore. Lol, I am old and retired and can do what I want when I want, but it really upsets me because I love regular hours and going to sleep at the right time.
I finally managed to organize all my kit files though, in my PSE organizer. It took ages.......some 15,000 files, lol......Now they are kind of organized, kind of.

Is anyone here still without electricity? I heard that kentucky is having a tough time right now......wonder if Crys is ok? Must ask her.

Wyndy, what please is your real name though I do love 'wyndy'......it's cute and rolls off my tongue, hehe..........
well, I am off to shower, lazy lazy me......and then shopping.
Hope you have a wonderful day and will resist any temptation.

Illinois is not far from me....maybe just maybe I can get my butt into gear one day and drive there....At least Chicago....Piehohpah lives there too, so we could have a mini party......
I AM SO GLAD YOU ARE FINE EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE FLAIR.....I CANNOT IMAGINE HOW YOU CAN SNEAK INTO OUR SACRED HALL OF FLAIRLESS FLOOZIES, WE MIGHT JUST RIP YOUR FLAIR OFF........:yippee::yahoo:

Crys is OK. Listen and read real carefully, Darling Sabrina: CRYS DOES NOT LIVE IN KENTUCKY!!!

Talking about not being able to sleep - it is stinking hot here in Aus at the moment and I was trying to watch a great tennis match on telly last night... as I was lying there on the couch I could not keep my eyes open .. it was a real struggle and every so often I would give in for 5 minutes.. well the match went for 5 hours and when I finally got to bed I was lying there wide awake until 4am.. no heavy eyes wanting to close at all.. why does that happen??

WELL, I make a huge decision EVERY single night/evening: every night I say to myself: ok, Sabina, tonight we are going to bed at 11 p.m. That's it. We take our meds at 9 or 10 and then we get nice and ready for bed and will be asleep by 11.30........By 12.30 a.m. I start contemplating getting back to my laptop. Doctor said, it's more stress to toss and turn and if you don't sleep, just get up and do what you want.......
by 1.30 a.m. I end up playing with the kitty because she had her nap and woke up....
and then maybe just maybe by 3 a.m. I might feel tired.
My mother had the same problem. She had huge problems sleeping.
I HATE IT. Because I am an animal of habit. I love having organized hours......just lucky for me that I don't have to work the next day......ughhhhhhhhhhh. I guess that's part of getting OLD. Darn it.

Wendy, I believe that 'playing' and having fun is in the rules for being a floozie. So if you just think about organizing your files as 'FUN' and you play around with them and they somehow slip into the right folder, then you are not actually keeping a goal!!!!!!! you are just having fun organizing. YOU LOVE ORGANIZING, IT IS ONE OF YOUR PASSIONS, so it's not a goal you need to set but a pleasure to enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL.......why was I not a lawyer?

Enjoying what I do is part of the reason that I am here. I know that with my schedule and my wedding coming up that if I had said that I am going to (fill in goal here) it would have driven me insane. I figure that I'll learn the technique, scan the photos, do the LO's. I have too many chores to do as it is, I'm here for the fun!

I am compulsively obsessive slacker who is goal-less, hopeless, can tend to be artistically challenged, yet I have visions of perfectionism and best of all, I am content on being a Flairless Floozie!!! :D

I am doing real good to make a really big effort this year to delve into this and get a little something accomplished.

I thought you might enjoy this:

You know you are addicted to digital scrapbooking when.....

1) You have kits purchased for photos you anticipate taking and look in your child's closet to find clothes that will match the kits, although you know you could just recolor the kits.

2) You see clothing in the store that matches your kits and cannot resist buying it.

3) You wake up in the morning and before you get your coffee or breakfast, you head straight to your computer to scrap.

4) You prioritize digital scrapbooking over the dirty dishes in your sink.

5) You spend hours going through digital scrapbook shops to find the perfect kit for one layout.

6) You spend hours going through digital scrapbook galleries to find the perfect layout to scraplift.

7) You have more digital scrapbook files on your computer than music files.

8) You belong to every Yahoo group associated with digital scrapbooking and spend hours reading all the e-mails.

9) You keep your own personal calendar up-to-date with all the various digital scrapbook chats you want to attend, along with notes on when the challenges are due so that you can receive your freebie for doing the challenge.

10) You stay up until 1 a.m. working on a layout to get it "just" right.

11) You sit and think about it and plan layouts in your head while waiting at the hospital.

12) When you sleep.... all you dreams are about digitally scrapping!!!

13) When every picture you get from friends, you think of scrapping them as gifts back to them.

14) You wait til your husband is snoring peacefully, then ever so quietly sneak out of bed to get your digi-scrapping fix.

15) You buy every kit that is on sale because you know that you will need it "someday."

16) You have bought so many kits on sale that you have zips that have not been unzipped (much less used) that are 2 months old!!

17) You buy an external HD just to keep all the scrapkits you've bought (and made) -- and then it is filled within 6 months. Now you're looking for a BIGGER external HD!!

18) When your husband wants to go out with some very good friends and your first thought is "noooooo, I don’t want to miss the crop."

19) When you become really blue when you cant buy colored ink to match any printers they sell!!!

20) When you see an article in the paper of a mans torso (something about health) that was done in a collage style, with different parts of him in lots of squares, and you ask your friends if you can keep the article, but not necessarily because it's a buff man, but because you want to scraplift it!

21) When you go back and take more photos to finish a layout.

22) When you are late to pick up your child because you cannot bring yourself to leave your computer.

23) When you find inspiration in the oddest places. When you watch CSI Miami and it shows a picture of Miami and the middle has a strip that is blurry and think it would look great on a scrapbook page.

24) When It is now 2:20 a.m. and you have redone those crazy layouts you posted the first time. You couldn't get them out of my gallery fast enough.

25) When you are up till the wee hours of the morning then go to bed thinking you can sleep and instead laying there and thinking about the rest of the layouts. It is ADDICTING once you get going.

26) When you work hard getting all of your digital files to CD's because you are going to be gone for 7 days and I NEED to take this stuff with you!

27) When your Granddaughter has to have a "Princess Jasmine" theme only for her birthday party because that's the only princess kit you've made! Or, she could have a Mickey/Minnie, Pooh, Tigger, or any of the others. Do you think I've gone overboard a little? Restricting the birthday theme to only the kits I have made in The Most Wonderful Place on Earth series? Nah, I didn't think so! LOL.

28) I'm so addicted I hate leaving my house for anything, I want to be at my computer all of the time. I need a laptop!!

29) When you scrapbook all day and 30 minutes before Hubby comes home--you quickly move a few things around and set out cleaning supplies on the counter to make it look like you've cleaned your house.

30) When you have pre-made pages all ready to be finalized upon the birth of your baby.

31) When you are in labor, but decide to work on your pages before going to the hospital.

32) When you spend more time looking for the perfect kit for two days than you do scrapping.

33) When you tell your husband to buy you flowers so you can have some beautiful photos to go with your beautiful papers--better yet, give up on your husband and just take the camera to the grocery store for photos of flowers.

WELL, ok............girls, just to confess and make you laugh at me:
I had my dear DIL on the phone this afternoon and when she gets on it, she stays on it....in spite of my darling twin grandchildren girls or suppertime, she loves talking....and of course so do I.....but time flew like there is no tomorrow. So about half an hour ago I figured I had wasted A LOT OF TIME and didn't want to waste time eating...SO I JUST HEATED UP SOME NOODLES that I had cooked last night, put an egg over it, cheese, and that's it for today......gulped it down within five minutes and now FINALLY I am back on the pc posting to you!!!!!!!!
Wasting more time, because whilst posting, of course, I cannot be working on one of my pages.......

Yeah, Crys, let's skip the chores, no more dusting. I hate dusting. What's the point of it anyway????????????? I was never good at multi tasking, but right now I am cuddling Arabella, watching CNN and posting to you, plus thinking about my next page, and exercising my legs which is impossible with a laptop!

I HAVE A PORTABLE PHONE AND A HEADSET, HAHAHAAAAAAAAAAA and I use it when feeding Arabella, or walking around looking for something that I thought I had put somewhere and can't remember where....and when people call when I am in the middle of a shower or God knows what else I am doing at that moment.....but I just cannot talk on the phone and scrap at the same time....which is really annoying because wouldn't it be perfect to scrap whilst talking ? it would save so much time....

the problem is with talking on the phone that I need NEED to do it so I can butter my kids up to be kind enough to send some more photos of my adorable grandchildren. If I don't butter them up, no photos probably unless I go there and take them myself which in itself is lots of work. Lots of travelling, lots of useless photos and the kids don't want to have their picture taken......soooooo a phone comes in handy at times....
Hugs to you, Wendy.

I just became aware of this Flairless Floozie club! Really funny gals. I wish I had know about this before I added one Flair button and I had trouble adding it!
Even though many have added instructions on how to do Flair thing it is still very confusing to me. One says do it this way another that way??? Huh?

I won't be adding a Flair card that's for sure. I am trying to just make one round button with my own graphic on it! Don't know if I will get it done right and after reading how to add it ? :)

But I want to have fair! I am fine with being goalless - Me and goals, we're not the best of friends. Anyone up for making me some flair? I love all the pretty buttons and want some of my own - just no time to do it for myself.:o And I don't think I'm a floozie but others might have a differing opinion.
