Okay Guys & Gals, I hear your all up for the photographic challenge, now thats what I like to hear :D !!! I will be setting a new challenge at the beginning of each new month & all images that are participating in the actual challenge should be posted by the end of the month in the photography gallery here @ DSP. I will be setting challenges that will test your photographic skills more so than setting you subject matter to photograph. I think its important that all involved should help to critique one anothers work but only constructive comments please!!! Also I think it would be a great idea to vote for our favourite image each month from those who are taking part in the challenge, this is just for fun but doesn't everyone deserve a little recognition?

Right are you ready???

The title of this months challenge is Creative Compositions , thats right get those creative juices flowing & get snapping guys, really want to see some artisitic images filling our gallery. You could photograph any subject but keep in mind Composition!

Have fun & I look forward to seeing your pics, best of luck!!!

Emma. :)

What do you mean by "composition"? I'm still kinda new at this.

My guess would be thinking of the photo before you shoot it. Taking some to to look at what you are photographing and then shooting it when it is set up right. I could be wrong though.

By composition I mean ie placement of subject within a frame, try to be creative, instead of naturally placing your subject in the centre, look at some alternatives ways to place it/them within the frame.

Any more probs or questions then just fire away, I'm here to help!

Ooooooooo this sounds fun sis! The link 4jacks4me gave is a really good link for those of you who dont know about composition.
Ultimatley you the photographer can decide how you want to compose the
picture but it's good to learn the rules, and it's okay to break the rules sometimes if it makes for a great pic .For those of you that are really new to photography then following the rule of thirds is a great way to learn how to compose your pics. When we follow the rule of thirds our eyes are naturaly drawn to the point of focus. It's a design rule that's not only used in photography but graphic design so most of you scrapbookers use it in your layouts probably without even realising.

Hey Rebecca would you mind posting your image in our photography gallery so that people find it easier to post ya some comments. By the way this is a very striking image & the colours give it some real impact, love the fact that you've used the rule of two thirds to balance it too! All that paired with your chosen DOF makes this a fantastic image!!!!

Well done Rebecca!!!

TFS, Emma. :)
