Hmmm - I cant decide!!!!!!!- Im tossing up between Jeanets - ( cause we need a more masculine kit I think - and this would work really well with san francisco photos which I have lots of to scrap ... and Jennifers top one - and I also like Mumas top one........ hmmmmmmm -

Kathleen
01-17-2009, 05:16 PM
When I first Saw Jeanet's it actually made me think it would be a good compliment to Foggy Day! And she gets extra points for her distressed color chips!!! And just to show I am no help at all, love Muma's peachy/orangey/green, and Jennifer's more modern swatch!

Lauren
01-17-2009, 06:01 PM
Lets go with Jeanets
http://i40.tinypic.com/2d7633c.jpg
If even just for selfish reasons - next time Im posting a photo and we are goign to use it cause I have a heap of photos from Bodie and Mono Lake that I havent scrapped yet and need to!!!!!!!!!!!

Love it... I would love a solid in the teal... all grunged up

Another suggestion. I am into the type of background that is almost a layout in itself (like the one in afternoon delight). So how about a teal or gray mini dot all grunged on the edges with a heart in one of the reds in one of the corners.

Or along the same idea a background with a lined swirl edge (like doodled or stamped) and the inside a nice teal wash type paint background and outside the border a nice grungy red (maybe with a grid)

I would love a gray grid.

See how the brickwork has rows and shadows, I'd like a self striped paper a bit like that in the pink/red colours.

Jeanet
01-18-2009, 06:04 AM
I'd like to see a paper with the same stripes as the sentry box. Thick stripes with very little color differences.

Oh and btw just a little info - the photo is from Amalienborg, where our Queen lives

bsneely
01-18-2009, 08:48 AM
Wow!! Hard choices to pick from for a color choice! Loved them all!! How about a stripe using the 2 red colors....maybe a plaid with the 2 reds paired with the 2 grays.

Muma
01-18-2009, 02:19 PM
Oh boy ... just look at that scrummy yummy paper. I love grunge ......
what about a doodly grungy flower paper ... white BG with doodles in the other colours?
Not that that would be very masculine .... I am such a girl at times LOL

LinJ
01-18-2009, 03:41 PM
How about a scrolly paper like the scrolls above the door in the picture?

JanP
01-18-2009, 03:51 PM
Gorgeous first bg - love it. Good idea for one with the two reds and the grey - perhaps a stripe with the two reds and a subtle grey swirly pattern overlay?

JanP

Another thought - what about a grungy white background with swirly reds?

mariafer
01-18-2009, 03:53 PM
how about a harlequin (that is the diamond shape right?) pattern in red

JanP
01-18-2009, 03:54 PM
Hey, I'm on a roll :) What about a bg of all colours blended in blotches - and grunged of course! What is it about grunginess?

JanP
01-18-2009, 03:55 PM
Oooh yes - harlequin!

JanP
01-18-2009, 03:57 PM
I would also love a bg in the dark red, just like the one already done.

Kathleen
01-18-2009, 04:12 PM
How about that middle dark color, with some scrolls and flourishes, maybe fleur de lys, grunged up into it, kind of like the metal work on the lamp posts, and the stone work above the door.

Lauren

Is it a masculine theme Lauren? If so, maybe some kind of tartan.

sandygb
01-19-2009, 02:09 PM
I'd love to see a white background paper (similar to the ftexture and grunge of the first blue paper) that has some of the gray/lavendar and the blue grunging.

EDITED - Actually it could have all the colors grunged into a white background. Some just faintly grunged, and a maybe a couple of the colors done with a slight paint splatter/spray.

Jeanet
01-19-2009, 02:18 PM
Oh Sandy that would look pretty. Love that idea

I love the papers! I hardly have any interesting white papers - grunged up a bit but not just inked edges - something like that would be nice. The solids work well in the grunged up look.

Kathleen
01-19-2009, 04:28 PM
For the last paper, how about grungy white with some kind of dots in various colors.

JanP
01-19-2009, 05:23 PM
White paper - great!

shawsi
01-19-2009, 06:56 PM
Can we have a paper with a military look? Not sure what though.

Maybe a white grunge with stripes around the edges.

Maybe with narrow pin stipes, with some sort of figure in the corners.

What about a reverse of the white on blue...do something with blue on white.

White paper with grey and pink dots.

jemtred

I really think the idea of a white paper is great. Maybe with a very light grey/pewter (its my colour of the moment!) speckle around the edges - kind of like a grunged edge overlay but much more subtle.

OK, I would like to see a chipboard multiframe element, maybe with each frame being a different shape

sandygb
01-20-2009, 02:45 AM
I'd like to see a stamped frame. Either rectangular or rounded rectangular with 2 diagonal corners done in a fancy scrollwork fashion.

EDITED: If not a frame, then the same idea done as an overlay with simple black lines near the edge of the page and 2 decorated diagonal corners

webfrau
01-20-2009, 02:51 AM
Some sort of border element that echoes the vertical pattern in the paper - a lace or a metal filigree perhaps.

A red paper flower that is dimensional rather than flat. More like a Mum.

A metal scrollwork heart. I was thinking either red or black.

sueya

I'd like to see a metal scrollwork corner piece like the ones in the original photo under the lamps
I also think a pewter frame with scrolls in the corners would look good too

Yay! Love the white paper.

Elements, how about some twisted dark wire, maybe into a border with a heart twisted into it - or some little metal brads, chunky dented ones, or red ones with some white edging

beaded wire element

double pewter frame (don't know what shape) one tilted

Overlay, overlay, overlay!! Always love overlays. Edging in twisty wire with red beady flowers/medals (?) and leaves with veins showing. Some ragged jounaling material (thinking man and military here)

This kit is going to coordinate super well with Seize the Day!
How about a red grosgrain ribbon & bow?

bsneely
01-20-2009, 09:32 AM
How about a ribbon done in that wavy curl you do so well .... red and gray intwined around each other with a red and gray bow

Kathleen
01-20-2009, 11:59 AM
Great job on the white paper, taking many suggestions together to make something cool!

A square frame, with similar, but slightly simpler than scroll work on the heart, although mostly like a wrought iron, maybe with a touch of chipped red paint.

Or a rectangular postage stamp frame.

Kathleen
01-20-2009, 12:07 PM
Dark gray stapled ribbon, with some subtle red or white stitching through it on the edges. Tattered ends.

JenniferG
01-20-2009, 01:21 PM
Lauren, I believe bling would be great in this...of course!!! Maybe a diamond bling like what's in the blue patterned paper.

sandygb
01-20-2009, 03:05 PM

I like Kathleen's suggestion for a similar red frame.....and the ideas for a ribbon and flower

Heidi

How about a border only on 2 sides, like a lampost, in the fancy scrollwork like the frame
Looks great so far!

Kathleen
01-20-2009, 05:30 PM
For journaling ... think of two or three pieces of paper, each in the shape of a diamond that has been folded in half twice from point to point. Kind of tilted in different directions. I'd love to see it in a paper like the white one you did - with the grungy edges, bit of red and gray.

Oooh this is gorgeous so far! Would velum journaling mat/s fit in? Or maybe in the white bg paper?
How about a group of coloured staples that could also be placed individually?
Gold or silver bar pin - thinking military - like a medal bar.

Ooo, this kit is looking beautiful!....

How about a black Roman Numeral clockface stamp (or wrougt iron). Just the numbers in a circle like they would be on a clock face, but no circle around the outside. Then separate ornate hands that could positioned.

This is gorgeous Lauren! I
ve been sitting here staring at it trying to think what else it needs and I agree with Sueya that it needs something like a ribbon or border strip that runs the width of the page. Maybe a dark gray ribbon? Is this the last element?

The white frame is hiding under the gorgeous mat! I agree it needs a ribbon and/or bow. Perhaps some sort of fastener on the ribbon - like mabe two bits of ribbon with a smaller version of the heart (different colour?) connecting them.
