View Full Version : How to increase your chances of being picked for Layout of the Day.

Several days of the week Team Members at DSP select a layout for the day to be featured on DSP's blog (http://blog.dsp.me).
Here are a few tips to increase your chances of being picked.
Post your layout in the Layouts using DSP Products Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=518).
All products should be DSP products (freebies or from the store). Excluding fonts.
If you want to suggest a layout of the day feel free to email me with LOTD Nomination in the subject. liz@dsp.me
Hey if you're featured as Layout of the Day we have new flair just for you!
And don't forget to add to your flair card

***DISCLAIMER*** These are not requirements but suggestions! We have a group of team members who pick layouts for different reasons. These are usually our starting points for picking. Suggestions maybe added or removed at anytime.

Thanks for the tip! I didn't know it needed to be in that gallery.
Question: How long are layouts under consideration? In other words, will you only select layouts posted in the past 24 hours, three days, one week, etc?
Also, what sorts of bribes do you prefer? Flowers or chocolate?
Thank´s for the tip, I had no idea that it would be good to post in that Gallery. Keep that in mind.

And I always wondered about being 100% DSP products. I'm 90% DSP products, but every once in a while a little something else slips in.

Great info! And an even better question! I have been wondering how and by whom those LO's were picked.

I just posted this in the main post. Just so you know this is the requirement but a suggestion. All our pickers pick for different reasons and I'm sure the reasons change by day. It's what jumps out at them.
These suggestions are basically a starting point for us. We also get nominations from other team members who come across great layouts through out their time in the gallery.

When I pick (mondays & tuesdays) I start in the Layouts using DSP Products and starting opening things that jump out at me. i don't limit to any time frame. I can usually find a pick with in the first 3 pages though.
Start nominating (or have your friends nominate you) in case we've missed a really great layout. There are SOOOO many talented scrappers out there.

Who all picks? Do you each pick on specific days?

you'll notice who picks by the name of the poster on the blog post. It is under the title.

So is it different bribes for different judges? (LOL)

Well I hope you don't look at it as a judgement :) to me judging isn't fun. I like picking LOTD b/c I get to see soooo many inspiring layouts and I just pick one for that day that sticks out the most.
Definitely send nominations. I was going back and forth between 2 layouts for tuesday's post and someone sent me a suggestion and it was one of the 2 so I knew which one I had to pick :)
So send me your nominations they're always welcomed, I can't guarantee that your nom will be picked but it will be thoroughly considered.

Is it okay to post scraplifted layouts created with DSP products if we credit the member and layout we scraplifted? I did a layout for the Scraplift the Spotlight challenge and used a DSP kit.
Thanks :)

I'm going to bump this post! As a new Team Member who gets to pick a LOTD (and believe me, it's not easy because there are so many fabulous works to choose from!), I wanted to share another hint about increasing your chances!
One of the pieces of information we put in the blog are (of course!) the credits to the designer WITH a link to the product in the store. If you don't provide that link when you post your layout, then the team member has to go to the store and find the product and make the connection...well, you get the picture!
Once again, it's not a requirement...but it sure makes a difference in the time it takes to get a LOTD uploaded to the blog! ;)

Here's just a curiousity question, not related to LOTD, but the Hall of Fame. I've noticed that all activity in the HOF gallery has ceased after June 12th. Was wondering if there were a reason. I can't believe that there has been no LOs worthy of gracing those halls since June. I've seen many myself. And also, if we see a LO that just blows our mind can we nominate those for HOF consideration, as people do for LOTD?
renee, yes, please do. there is no promise that it WILL be inducted, but we are glad to take nominations. Just PM one of the designers with the link.

And Renee, you can always move a layout you love to the Weekly Wonders Thread.
Here is a link to this week's Weekly Wonders.

Thanks Tina, will do!
And thanks for the link, PQ, I've been searching high and low for that thread. Since it's a sub thread to the the Get Published thread, it doesn't show in the main Forum unless someone has recently posted in there.

Took me forever to realize what LOTD was... and I had no idea there was a Weekly Wonder thread!
