Oooh I SOOO wanted to come to the NZ crop as well, but our house should be about ready to move into right around then and it will be stretching the budget a tad too much since we are building at the moment.. :-( I will plan for the next one tho! I am hanging to go to NZ!!!

Such a shame you can't make it over Robyn. Hopefully once you get everything sorted. I just wish I could get over for the OZ crop and meet you!

I know, I SOOO wanted to go, but it is just really bad timing for us right now and it would stretch things way too much for us. Two mortgages has a way of killing the budget! LOL Can't wait till we sell this house, it will make things a lot easier. Then, I will have a bit more flexibility and plan to attend as many crops as I possibly can without annoying dh too much! Well, I don't remember ever being here before, just followed a link from DST and seems I've already signed up here before. I think I would love to come to a crop, I've never been to one before and I don't even know what it involves! Can someone elaborate please? I have a little baby and I'm not sure she'll be old enough for me to leave for too long by then.

Well welcome to DSP!!- A crop is basically just a get together - where we all meet and basically scrap together - Its generally an all day event but you dont have to stay all day if you dont want to!!
( Often there is more talk and eat and less scrap ) but its been known for people to complete 20 or more layouts in a day.
We will often have short casual tutorials and everyone is very willing to help everyone else.

Or if you are me, you complete one layout in an entire weekend!! Quality, not quantity I say (well that is my excuse anyway and I am sticking to it!!) :)

I don't think it was the table piled high with food and chocolate that was part of the distraction. LOL.
Of course getting to see everyone's albums was very cool. I'm going to have to start printing soon to get some new layouts in them. I see Snapfish has 40% off printed 8x11 albums this week in NZ.

I must check that out, thanks Fiona! My aim is to have my UK/USA trip album finished by the end of Feb, so hopefully that means it will be done by May! :)
Looking forward to meeting you Kateypie!
Can I add another name to the list too Lauren? Liz who came to the last Auckland crop would like to come, she is busy packing as she moves in a few days so I said I'd put her name down for her.

 I had a page 3/4 th of the way finished when I attended the Anahiem crop and still couldn't get one completed  But I wouldn't change a thing :D.
Donut shared a link with me of Kiwi slang... Had me rolling with some of it.. Some of it I can see myself adopting rather quickly :D..
But not that Ferret one Lauren :shocked:....:lol::lol: Guess guys in all parts of world have those kinds of things in common... Sheesh!
Hugs all you Kiwi's...
Oh and what do Kiwi's call Americans in NZ ?
Lauren

I guess we call you Americans!! Yanks maybe for some older people but I doubt the younger generation even know that word.

01-21-2009, 12:25 PM
We have chosen a venue!!! I will be calling to book it today.it will be quite different to the Aussie venue, but we will be a smaller group. I will post all the details once I have it confirmed but we will have it catered this time!! We will run from 9-6ish and then those who wish can go out for dinner.(there is a restaurant onsite).
Of course having of catered doesn't mean you get away with not bringing chocolate and lollies .Margie and Kim and any other overseas guests need to experience some NZ specialties!!

:lol::lol: The Yanks thing makes sense. My friends Dad said that's what we are called in Oz and he must be in his late 70's so I am sure those are the folks he rubs elbows with.. The venue is sounding terrific..Wondering if I might be able to stash a few Lollies to share. I remember you thinking ours were too sweet for your taste Lauren, but that you loved our Margaritas.. Did you ever have a Margarita gold while here? My DH's fav...

I shall personally oversee the supply of crunchies!!!
Will anything be happening on the Friday and/or Sunday? If not I might be able to fly up and back on the same day, which would be helpful. :)
... We will run from 9-6ish ...
... but I don't want to miss anything!
Lauren
01-21-2009, 01:46 PM
Well I'm not sure what Sharon and erica will have planned but I'm actually not going to be in Auckland on the Sunday. We could possibly do something Friday but I will leave that to Sharon or Erica to organize.

:yippee::yippee: And I shall bring Yorks... They are yummy little things.
Margarita Golds use top grade Tequila and have an added shot of Grand Marnier... Little more punch and a bit smoother than the regular Marg.
I have heard from the aussies about OZ's prize drinks. What about NZ's :D ? I know you have some outstanding wines but DH is a beer man so what should we look for as far NZ fav brews go. Jeesh that sounds bad... We really aren't lushes .. I am a one drink gal... Usually makes me so sleepy I just want to go home and crawl into bed.. DH likes a drink or 2... Ok I am just rambling here. It's 1 am:eek:... Couldn't sleep so turned on the TV and sitting here wide awake:eek:! Must be all this Island hopping laptop cropping thinking:D...

My hubbys favourite beer is Steinlager Pure - but there are tens - if not hundreds of kiwi beers. Steinlager is probably the best known worldwide but there are many many others.

01-22-2009, 03:27 PM
There are many, many types of NZ beer. I hate the stuff but my hubby likes try new ones. Kim - what kind of beer does your other half like? Lager, dark, ale, wheat..... the list is endless :)

My DH is like your's Sharon.. He loves to taste new ones... One of the things he is looking forward to in both OZ & NZ... Lager, Dark and Wheat... He is not big on Ale though.. Feel free to compile a list of the top favs. I am sure he will enjoy try each. Steinlager is already starting it off.
Are Jaffas those little orange chocolate yummies in a canister? Pam shared some those with us when she visited.. Very tasty little treats. I can see I am going to be going home unable to button my jeans.. LOL
