If it was closer to the end of summer, I could probably be there....we are planning on moving back up to Tennessee sometime between March & June! Unfortunately I won't know for sure until I'm closer to that time frame.

I would be interested. What major city is this close to if I decided to fly in? Not sure of the distance from NC/VA border.
I answered my own question..it looks to be near Cinncinatti....driving time is 9 hours for me (550 miles from Roanoke Rapids, NC)....I'll fly!
yes, its closest to CVG (which is the Greater Cincinnati International Airport- which is actually in Kentucky- don't ask, we don't get it either. Oh, I just googled and they've changed the name- lol... It's now Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport).
Scamptx came in last year and flew, tho I'm not sure if she came through CVG or Lexington or Louisville (all have airports). Cincinnati is very expensive to fly FROM, I'm not sure about TO. You might want to PM Scamp and ask her :) I'm thinking she came into Lexington.
I'm going to start a poll on dates

Depending on when this is, I'd love to try and come this year. No firm commitment yet though.
This is really close to me and I was sad to miss it last year.
The only real problem I have...I don't own a laptop!!
Would it be considered to stalkerish to come any way?!?
I own one, but DH took it over. it has nothing installed. I came, laptop-less!

I'm interested. I wanted to go to the Iowa/Midwest crop, but the 2 dates they are thinking of in June don't work for me, so maybe this will.
updated 1st post with this info

BTW, Downtown Maysville would be a distance from the crop site, but we could maybe do a photowalk down there, it's lovely. We are considering 2 days for this. 1 to crop and 1 for just hanging out like movies/photowalk, etc.
Let us know your thoughts!

Yep--flew into Lexington because it's considerable cheaper (usually!) and the drive from Lexington to Maysville was awesome to this flatlander!
One of the most amazing things that Reba and I saw at the Maysville Museum was an incredible exhibit of miniatures. We aren't talking amatuer--it was beyond amazing! http://www.kygmc.org/miniatureExhibits/
What I didn't do last year and want to do this year is go to one of the Underground Railway sites/museums. There's a ton of history in the area, and Tina's right--Maysville is a wonderful site for a photo walk.
The other historic site is Old Washington, and is also a super place for a photo walk. Harriet Beecher Stowe got her inspiration for Uncle Tom's Cabin when she saw a slave auction on the courthouse steps there. http://www.washingtonky.com/
If you're wondering why I seem to be so interested in the area seeing as how I'm in Texas--it's because my first Scots ancestors imigrated to Maysville around 1795! I'll be back to try to find the exact location--I hope!

HOTELS - any suggestions?
Because I am 4.5 hours out, I will need to drive in Friday after work. The Sat. crop is until 5, so dinner after??? Is there anything planned (sightseeing, etc) for Sunday? If nothing "planned" is anyone else sticking around to do some sightseeing?

Well, I had a chat with Scamp today and she was sort of trying to encourage me to come.
DH worked in Maysville for about a year or so in the late 90's or early 2000's and fell in love with fishing off the damn. (Actually, he falls in love with fishing anywhere there's water! :D)
So, we're having this discussion and there's a good possibility that I'll get to come to the crop!!
(The only drawback is that my next and most-likely last grandchild is due July 2.)
So....at this time, you can put me down as a definite *Maybe*!

And I may go galivanting around Ky or Ohio and stay someplace entirely different depending on how much genealogy stuff I get done on Friday!

Giving this a gentle bump! I'm getting excited about the crop and I know it will be a blast!
Don't forget to do your ATC cards!
Snack food (all that talking can wear you down)
Bring walking shoes and your camera!
Laptop, photos and kits if you are serious about scrapping! (this is optional!!!)
Scrapbooks or photo books to display for browsing and collecting ideas.
Snack food (did I mention that already)
Can't wait to see all the folks I met last year again and meeting all the new faces this year!
We are still working out the details for supper. We want something cozier than last year, since we were all spread out and couldn't even talk to each other- it was also VERY noisy! LOL! I think we're probably looking at just the croppers this year, not the family as well. That really added to the amount of people at the table. We'll keep you posted :D

ATC cards are just little cards you make with your name on them. You trade them at the crop. i forget the size on them though, LOL! Will have to go get my collection out and measure one! I'm thinking 2x3 inches though.

Downtown would be so great--The history of the area is still there, and there was some super architectural detail that I'd love to get a second chance at.
Ok, we've decided on a $10 fee at the door. Hope that won't keep anyone away. It's just to cover building rental, which Lori paid all herself last year.

Good and bad news for us. Kaylor's team made it to the Super Bowl which is great, however it's the same weekend as the crop which is the bad news. The game is Saturday on a turf field with lights, so I don't want to miss it. I'm not coaching the large combined squad at least I hope not, so I should for the first time in 2 seasons be able to watch a game. I wish I could be there and at the game. Sadly, I can't and the kid has to win.

Suffice to say that if I can get to the net on Saturday, I'll try to look in at the galleries to see what goodies y'all are posting. I had a great time last year, and I thoroughly intend to get back to Maysville, so maybe next year...:love1: :love1:
Awe, Scamp...we'll miss you!
I'm still planning on being there. Seems like we hit a busy weekend.

Aww scamp I'm sorry we'll not be seeing you  That's a bummer! Sorry you won't be able to join us, I know how much you were looking forward to it too!
The only hint I'll give is it may or may not be open book

I'm still sad that I can't come. I should be leaving for the crop in just a few hours and instead I'll be @ home getting football & cheerleading stuff ready.
As it turns out most of Kaylor's team backed out of going to the Super Bowl, so Kaylor & his friend entered as a free agents. The team that picked them is an incredible team, so they just might be on the team taking home the title. The team that picked Kaylor and his friend up were the league champs. We now have to see how we stack up against the other leagues. 2 games on Saturday guaranteed and depending on the outcome of those games at least 1 more on Sunday.

I'm trying to keep a happy face. I'd be there right now, dagnabbit, looking at that river, looking forward to breakfast at that little place close to the French Quarter Inn. Love the hills in town. Wanted to go to the library this visit and do a little research.
And the miniature exhibit at the museum must be spectacular--last year when Reba and I went, it had just opened and it was awesome then.
Would y'all just have a good time, please! I'll miss seeing you!

I had an absolute blast!! We ran 3 challenges and the LO's were awesome! And I just have to share this glorious artwork! We played pictionary using June DSP kits. Can you guess the kit name based on the drawing? I even left the first word any of guessed right on the picture as a hint for you!

Pictionary was fun and I think we need to do that again next year! Lori and I visited "the covered bridge capital of the world" and took photos of 3 (or was it 4) covered bridges. We had a blast driving down "country roads" searching for these covered bridges. I'll post the photos when I get home. I'm at my mom's and for some reason her internet does not agree with my laptop so I'm using hers. We are going to do some geneology research this afternoon and then shopping tomorrow.

I'm sad that I missed the crop. It sounds like you all had a great time. I am happy to tell you that missing the crop to watch kiddie football allowed me to witness Kaylor winning what will hopefully not be his last Super Bowl. No rings just trophies and bragging rights until next year. It was the first time the NFL flag football league in Ohio had a Super Bowl, so the Pickerington Browns will go down in history as the first Mighty Mites to win a Super Bowl.

That sounds like it was exciting! Congratulations to Kaylor!!
