Hi Girls...just wondered if anyone has realised that it is actually Mothers Day here that weekend..... (for the Aussie Girls)
Yup, unfortunately it was the only weekend available that we could fit in. I am planning on driving back late Sunday morning so I can still spend the majority of the day with the family on Sunday, of course that will be harder for those who have to travel further.
There were a few who were considering their mothers day gift. ;-)
PacificTonz

It's my Mothers' Day gift too - same in NZ!

Yes definitely, the train goes to the city then continues on to the Gold Coast, you don't change trains. If you come on a weekday which I am guessing everyone will try to avoid 4pm-6pm as the Gold Coast commuters are on the way home which can be a bit of a pain with luggage but is do-able.
There are definitely buses from Helensvale (a Gold Coast stop) to Surfers from there, and think Robina (last Gold Coast stop) too - will find a timetable link and post.

Yes I'm away for a few days and it's REALLY hard to view websites on the iPod when you have old lady eyes like me!!for those who were asking about the train I posted a link on one of the threads to a door to door service the train company offers. The pick you ip from the train in a chauffuer driven car - it was $42 total I think. As I said it's in one of the threads here!!!

I talked to the hotel, and for people going to GC airport to go home, you tell the concierge a day beforehand, and you get booked onto the shuttle bus from the hotel to the airport, for $18 per person. Alessandro and I will be doing that. We are getting a 6pm flight out on the Sunday. I saw some of the others have 4 or 4.30pm flights, so they will be able to do that too.

Hi all May Croppers
These following pics show the Coach Services available from Brisbane and Gold Coast Airports....
Coachtrans services Brisbane Airport to Gold Coast - desk at airport
Gold Coast Shuttle services Gold Coast Airport to Gold Coast - desk at airport
Best value on both services is the 3 day or 5 day passes which covers
return Airport Transfers to Accommodation unlimited use of Surfside
Bus Network which includes unlimited theme park transfers to and from.
As Leslie has pointed out the consierge at the hotel can arrange transfer to
Airports the day before or you can arrange all this when you purchase the pass.
Theme park passes can be purchased onboard the Surfside Buses
hope this helps out

Surfers Paradise is a suburb on the Gold Coast.
Here's a mud map to give you an idea, on where it is from Brisbane.
http://www.reflections.com.au/GoldCoast/Maps/index.html
It is probably about 30-45mins drive from Brisbane although probably a little longer from the airport. Haven't done that run before. The Gold Coast is about 30mins from the centre of Brisbane.
Although according to some b grade fiction books I read many years ago, The Gold Coast is IN Brisbane...

thanks Robyn - I need to get my bearings - I have been to a conference in surfers a couple of years ago and stayed at Jupitors Casino where the conference was held. I caught the train from the airport and got a bus transfer to the hotel. I would like to do this again but will talk to Carolyn, as we are travelling together.
I am a tiny bit excited - a girls day out is just what I need to lift me, after a year of suffering from depression and still trying to carry on.

Oh what a shame Krys! I was really looking forward to meeting you in person! I can relate to the finances bit..we are building a new home so money will be tight as we are paying for two mortages at the moment, but I am determined the budget will stretch far enough to go! He he. PLUS the house is due to be finished in MAY so I am hoping the keys are not received the same week as the crop! LOL Would be nice the weekend before or something... LOL Although at the rate it is going it probably won't be. We had the plans into the certifiers a week or so before Christmas and all that has been approved so far is the sewerage. GRRR Very annoying, I want to start taking photos of the building progress so I can scrap them!!!
Anyway, I digress! LOL A DSU class sounds like a pretty good pressie to me too! ;-) I hope we will get another chance to meet some time soon. ;-)
ETA: Have reluctantly removed you from the list. :-(

Hi All, I have just registered to come along to GC crop. I am a newbie to Laptop cropping. Have been digitally scrapping for a few years and was very excited to see that DSP crop days have come to Australia. Can anyone tell me what exactly goes on at these events. I live in Brisbane so it's nice and close for me ! Cant Wait ! :yippee:
Lauren
02-05-2009, 10:12 PM
HI Katzee ! I look forward to seeing you . Crops are quite casual affairs - we all get our laptops out!!- and then we chat, eat, laugh, and some of us actually do scrap some pages. We have people who are only too happy to give one on one instruction and we often do have some tutorials during the day too done via a projector and screen.
Its so great just to be with people who understand our passion !!!!!

Hi Everyone,
I'm Sandie from Central Queensland
I've been lurking for a while on this digital site. I have just booked to join the Laptop Scrapbook Crop. Looks like an exciting meet. I'm looking forward to meeting up with other digital scrappers.
I will only be there through the actual crop though as my daughter lives within 20 minutes drive of Surfers, and as it is Australia's Mother's Day maybe I might get breakfast in bed if I am at her house. It's a great day for Mums to be spoilt.
I have been digital scrapping for about 2 years, and still paper scrap when the need arises. I visit at several digital sites, and relish a challenge.
My style is probably best described as clean, traditional and minimal as I like the photo to stand out from everything else.
See you all at Surfers.
