Again, I am torn between the colours - I like the brown and red one from idtwinmom, but then I saw JenniferG's aqua and brown swatch.
All the pink swatches are nice, but I usually scarp about my boys so I am always drawn towards more masculine colours.
I'm TORN! There are 2 I can't decide between! So, I'm going to let you vote. Please vote here:

I love the inspiration picture...
How about some stripes like in the green pillow or the chair and a background with leaves like in the curtains
mcbowersox
01-18-2009, 06:09 PM
A floral BG like the pillow. And a textured, stripey looking light blue like the chair.
idtwinmom
01-18-2009, 06:22 PM
I really want a BG with those greens! Seems like you can never have enough green. Something textured, not too grungy, maybe a simple pin stripe.
bamabreeze10
01-18-2009, 06:39 PM
how about a darker green with light green swirls
Jennifer ... yes, submit again ;-)
I also love the chosen colors ....
... how about a green grungy, overlay type edge paper?

This started just the green with the pinstripes, but the blue just jumped in there. Sorry, I tried to stop it, but it wouldn't listen.

Sorry Ladies..as this conversation was going on I was getting myself and the girls ready for church. Just got home about an hour or so ago and had to put the girls to bed, clean up the mess, put stuff away and do some laundry. Just sat down with some food and read myself up to date in the threads.
It was a close match. I probably would have voted for Dawn's, too, as I love blue. I would have had my sister vote for me, because I love my submitted color swatch too. Yeah, I can understand why you were torn, Tina! Don't worry, I'll submit again. I submitted for Lauren too, and she was having a tough time deciding, too. But my swatch lost both times. :( I'll submit it for Designakit 10. :)
I love that first background, Tina. Could we have a blue grunge background. The grunge could be white or yellow instead of black. Just a light grunge would be awesome, I think. Or the grunge could be an entirely separate element....
mcbowersox
01-18-2009, 07:17 PM
Definitely something yellow to bring out the yellow in the striped paper (which I love btw). I don't have many yellow things.

So, question for those of you who participate in this challenge. If your color scheme is not selected, can you submit the next week or with another designer?
mariafer
01-18-2009, 07:43 PM
swatkins: I do... although they each have their own taste in color schemes too and so sometimes I do some I only submit to Tina (multiple times :)) and some just to Lauren.
Tina I still would love something similar to the leaf pattern on the curtains... Lovely 1st paper.
bamabreeze10

I know its not on the color swatch, but could we do a light color and mix it with the dark chocolate color of the floor and the wood on the chair?

makes me very much think of spring, easter, flowers and and little girls in new outfits.
Can we have a lattice
and some flowing ribbons of blues and green
How about that flower in chipboard or sticker form and the leaves also, just separately so we can add as many or as few as we want. Could even hang the leaves maybe from a chain or ribbon and journal on them.
Anywhoo it's looking great!

A frame - silver/metallic maybe

I would like a blue ribbon with the colors in the darker blue paper.
The design in the blue paper would also be neat in an circular frame type effect...maybe on an overlay. Don't know how to describe what I mean. Maybe chipboard or sticker?

How about a chipboard flower like the one on the paper. Also a pretty tag with the same flower and some ribbons wound around it.

We need some sort of white frame - perhaps a stamp styled one
An overlay for the page edge with a patter similar to the vine on the blue background

A grungy white chipboard frame, rectangular or square, not scalloped.
Some buttons with thread in them - green & blue

I like the button idea. I can also see a ribbon, very curly, my brain keeps saying viney, but I don't know if that makes sense. Someone also mentioned stitching, that might look good.

How about a chain and bead... overlay/border for the top edge?

01-20-2009, 10:59 PM
Yes, yes a chipboard swirl sounds fantastic!
I also like Jeanet's suggestion of journaling strips and if not strips some sort of a journaling mat - perhaps a white circle layered on a blue circle with a scalloped edge.
I would love to see messy paint brush strokes in blue

Several rows of smallish chipboard squares, either to use as a photo mat or page wide strips. I hope you can picture this, as it's a bit hard to describe.
idtwinmom
01-21-2009, 12:38 AM
I liked the idea of hanging chipboard mats. Big enough for a small photo, or journaling. That was a great idea!
WOW! I really like the swirl! Cool!
How about a butterfly with swirly wings..similar to the swirl you made? That would be cool :)
How about an overlay/border that has small swirls twined in it similiar to the swirl you made...can you tell I really like the swirl? :)
idtwinmom
01-21-2009, 11:51 AM
Oh, like that butterfly idea too!
Edited: It would be pretty with the blue in its wings.
How about putting the flower or individual leaves inside a square and making a fillagree metal element we could hang from a chain or use as a brad. :)
