Dennis has some crumpled paper at
http://www.escrappers.com/textures.html

Brushes are also useful - if you use Photoshop
Good ones:

should these links don't work go to http://share.studio.adobe.com/default.asp and do a search on paper

Hope this helps,

Here is a very brief tutorial on how I make crumpled paper in photoshop
scan a piece of crumpled paper
save the image in grey scale
increase the contrast
select the whole image
save as brush
now when you have a piece of paper you want crumpled - create a new layer over the top of your existing layer and Paint on your new brush
play with the opacity and colour of your brush for different effects try the blend of the layer as overlay or many other layer blends - they all have different results
More tips like this will be in the class I am running at the university called making realistic elements in photoshop

Thanks you two! I had already scanned a piece of crumpled paper trying to follow a tut at SBB but it just didnt look right. I never thought to make it a brush! That is way cool!

Lauren- Im definitely signing up for your class! I cant wait.

Also, another question- will you be covering different textures to make backgrounds? The only textures that I have are the preset textures in PS7 but I want more! :) Are there any texture plugins out there or different brushes for texture? Like burlap, canvas, etc. I just havent been impressed with what I can do with the preset textures from PS7.

Thanks ladies!

Well I probably wont go into too much detail just here but the first lesson is a really good look at the layers palette and just what you can do with it - WITHOUT the use of filters !!!!- Im starting at a fairly basic level but if this series of lessons is popular then I will surely be doing more advanced lessons later

There are ALWAYS more out there! So many you'll go bug-eyed looking for them all!
Open your patterns/texture menu in the Layer Styles dialog box, you know where the flyout list is, there's a little triangle in a circle there. Click on it and see the list of Color Paper, Textures, etc. Load 'em all up! If you accidentally load one set twice, press Alt and click on it to delete it quickly.
The little triangle in the circle ALWAYS shows there are MORE! For gradients, brushes, whatever and wherever you see it, CLICK and load!

If you already know this tip, try Adobe Studio Exchange

I don't even know what most of these categories ARE, so there's so much plenty o' lotta stuff to download! Patterns and Styles are what you want, but lots of cool brushes and actions too.

And you can always design your own. Just make whatever you want and save it as a pattern in the Edit menu. That's where all these from ASX came from, people making stuff and sharing on the site.

Have fun!

Hope I'm not stepping on any toes. Just wondering if there will still be the free tutorials and classes along with these paid ones?

I really loved learning the collage techqniue from Jill so I am hoping that these free ones will still be an option for us too?

Oh yes of course there will still be free classes and tutorials Kristin- these paid classes just go into way more depth and detail than we could in a normal tutorial or chat session
