***EDITED...September 2010*** - scroll to "Rewards"
What Now?
This is a WIN WIN Challenge of Collaboration and Cooperation
You get to have your say in the design of a new kit and also 4 chances to win freebies plus a Double Whammy freebie and I get a new kit to put in the store – total teamwork.
I know that many of you get a real buzz out of telling the designers what you’d like to see in a kit, so with that in mind I thought I’d add a new forum to the EEE Challenge called What Now? Where you get to participate in building a new kit every month.
You’ll be rewarded for your choice of colour schemes, elements, backgrounds and the all important kit name. This is similar to other designer’s kit challenges but it takes you through the process I use when designing a kit plus 5 chances to win a freebie. During the process you’ll be asked to vote on colours and kit name so this kit is created from your choices.
My designing inspiration comes from many everyday ‘things’, a song title, movie, book, past memories, gardens; anything can spark my imagination for a new kit! These prompts also give me a sense of a colour scheme or theme to use. For instance, when I made my Lemon ‘N’ Lime Fizz Kit I got the inspiration from the lemon tree outside my office window and the kit evolved from there.
So I will take you through the process of how I design a kit from scratch, I hope you enjoy it :D

How this works is:
When submitting your colour scheme also submit the inspiration theme/name that prompted you to choose those colours as this will give us a good basis when we come to choose a name for our kit. The inspiration behind a kit is an important factor in my designing style.
Submit as many colour schemes as you want to the forum, I’ll choose three that will be put in a poll for everyone to vote. There will be a deadline for this but don’t worry if yours isn’t picked for the poll this time just re-submit next month.
Vote on the polled colour schemes. Highest total votes = your new kit colours.
Before deciding on backgrounds/elements we'll look at the winning colours and also look at what inspired this chosen palette by the person who submitted it. This should hopefully give us a better flow in element and background ideas.
Now tell me what backgrounds you’d like to have in your kit and then, after that we’ll get onto the elements.
When the kit is complete it’ll need a name, again we’ll use the inspirational prompt that was highlighted for the chosen colour scheme at the beginning and we’ll put our thinking caps on and come up with a selection of kit names, these need to be shortish, descriptive and chosen with care so as not to conflict with other DSP products. I’ll choose two that will be polled. Highest total votes = new kit name.
Then the kit goes in the store and finally you get to create a layout using it.
See the rewards below for a double whammy freebie
Your rewards:
Each of the three colour schemes selected to be voted on gets the completed kit
Each of the two kit names chosen to be voted on gets the completed kit
One random drawn name for the element/background suggestion gets the completed kit
*** Changes September 2010*** I will choose one LO as my special What Now Wonder from those who place a layout in the What Now gallery using the new kit to receive a store coupon to the value of $3.99 and they will be highlighted on my blog and facebook pages.
*** Changes September 2010*** Running along the same lines of my EEE Challenges as a BOGO (Buy One Get One free), everyone who creates a LO with the new kit and places it in the What Now gallery also gets the posting bonus that co-ordinates with the kit.
*** Changes September 2010*** I will be posting the new What Now challenge the last Saturday of the month and you have one week to create a LO, for instance this month it will start on Saturday September 25 and finish at Midnight Friday October 1.
