I just downloaded a bunch of color swatches from Kuler.adobe! Then I had fun creating swatch jpegs out of them and uploading them to my Swatches Album in my Gallery! Here are a few:

mariafer, I like your top swatch, especially the bottom 3 colors of the swatch, the blue, pink, and the kind of a light blue/green/turquoise (not sure what color to call it, but the colors all look great together)... I'm adding those colors to my list of swatches to try sometime :)

I hope this gets picked...as I've been waiting for someone to make a kit out of these colors for a bit. And the bottom color came out a bit different than I had intended. I used Kuler instead of picking the colors out myself in the top swatch. Here's the corrected color:

I had to add one more. I put this photo in Kuler and really like the colors it picked out in the "bright" mode. I never would have thought to pick the blue out of the trash can, but I really like it with it. The pink could maybe be a bit brighter, though.

It's a website all about color swatches. You can put pictures in and it'll swatch it, or pick a color and it'll give different combinations like complimentary or monochromatic.

Pez Junky, I always mean to ask you if you collect Pez.

I have been collecting (have about 1000 at this point) for about 4 years or so. I used to be really active at Pez Community, but haven't been around there lately.

Anyhow, I just wondered if you were a fellow Pezhead.

Ok, someone just had to explain this to me too. So I'll do my best. . .

In your gallery open your swatch. Right click on the picture and go down to properties. Highlight and copy the url.

Then when you're writing your post click on the icon in the toolbar that's the fourth from the right (insert image). Paste the copied url there and that's it!

Hope I explained that ok. . .

Robyn Gough
01-28-2009, 11:23 PM
Yes I think she may be scarce as yes the power is out, although she is sending the odd email from her blackberry.

Just a tip with Kuler too, if it is easier, you can just do a screenshot of the kuler palette, and crop it to size, or use screen hunter. Saves messing with creating the palette in PS or what have you.

I did collect in High School for a while, but not much anymore. I do love Pez, but don't always feel like spending money on Pez dispensers. I have about 70, mostly common ones, not special/rare ones. It's not a huge collection, but big enough for my hubby to roll his eyes at. He doesn't mind as much when I buy the candies though, as long as I share

Are you copying the thumbnail link or the full size image link?

To get he larger size you have to click on the thumbnail first to open the larger image and then right click on the larger image to get the full size image link.

Does that sound like it could be what was happening?

dawn-in-nz
01-29-2009, 05:18 AM
Yes Sandi, you are using the thumbnail of your swatch instead of the original upload. Before you upload save it at about 250 pixels wide which is a nice size for a swatch, some of them are far too large for the forums, I feel as if I have to stand on the other side of the room to see them properly :yikes:
Then click on the actual upload picture and not the thumbnail of it.

Oh yummy Tina!

How bout a background that is in the yellow color with the brown as circles...so yellow with brown dots...like sausage on cheese...you can mix a bit of the cream color in there, too....if it looks ok!

How about a red background with a linen texture? Or cream with a red or brown grunginess around the edge?

idtwinmom

Something I don't see much of in the store: A darker BG with light grunge - as in the brown with cream/yellow grunge. Then the red with a brown/yellow/orange bits scattered in it like the thin shreds of cheese. (I don't know if that one is even possible).

YAY! Thanks Tina :) I was looking through my photos for ideas and saw the pizza photo (from a visit when my grandson was helping make the pizza :) ) and decided to try it for a swatch. Leea

how about the cream for the background, the brown for some grunge on it, with one of the reds as sprinkled glitter edges....both grungy and glittery :)

Leea

This needs the Cream or Yellow now to balance the darker colors. Some sort of pattern on it would be OK, but I think subtle would go best with the paisley. Small dots maybe!

dawn-in-nz

This is turning into a fabulously rich kit! Love the choice to go with the harlequin design.

Well, since we have used all the other colors, it's time for the Orange to make it's appearance. I can't decide whether it should be more plain and textured or have some sort of pattern. Maybe it is time for the stripe.

ok ladies, i tried a traditional stripe, but it just didnt work. it was too bold for this kit, and didn't go well or something.

SO, here's a compromise. its the suggestion of the grungy dot while being a bit of a stripe too (the dots make stripes).

Hope you like!

And that paisley really reminds me of a bandanna, so I keep thinking of straw/hay things and cowboy boots and a sheriffs badge.

Oh wow ... adore the backgrounds. Wonderful.

We need some yellow:

A yellow button that says "laugh"
A yellow, brown and red patterned ribbon
A knotted bow (like the one in Razzle Dazzle Sad or Glad
A dark brown frame

handkl
01-31-2009, 08:41 AM
A straw flower or a bunch of straw flowers tied up with a raffia bow with long dangley bits.

Love this idea!

How about a gold metal circle/ring or rings with beads in the different colors?

Like this idea too!

Tina
01-31-2009, 09:04 AM
Maybe we could bring in some more of the gold color in the elements.

How about something along the lines of a sunflower (gold color) with a brown center.

I think this is along the lines of a sunflower. sorta. it started w/ your idea anyway, sandy ;)

This is lovely... where have I been!!! I love what you have come up with. When I saw the colors I wasn't sure where it was going but I love this!

How about a seperate paisley element

Leea
01-31-2009, 10:14 AM
I like Hannah's idea of a button that says laugh..maybe two other buttons in different colors that say love and live,...that would be so cool! Maybe the buttons can have shapes...a circle, a heart, a diamond (like the background)?

Leea
01-31-2009, 10:15 AM
Maybe Wordart with laugh, love, live :)
The flower is cute! Love the sparkle center :)

Leea

a sparkly diamond element, like the background paper diamonds or maybe glitter-edged diamond as an element or several as an overlay or in a swirl or corner element

Leea

The flower is really pretty, maybe a border or swirl with the flowers :)

A paisley shaped bling.
A simple square or rectangle frame.
A curly ribbon.
A bow (round like a Christmas bow - but of course with these colors)

Penny M

How about an overlay element similar to the variegated dots on the paper that you could use on any paper?

Or a ring of shiny dots... kind of like the ones on the red paper..

sandygb
01-31-2009, 04:10 PM
I love the button ideas....(like a campaign button), but I would like them without text so that we could add our own. How about a grouping of 3 buttons together in different colors. We could then cut them individually to use on the page as needed. They could also work as an alpha base.

What about a black filgree (sp?) photo frame? A photo frame made from layered papers in the colours from the kit, but necessarily the ones in the kit.
And we need the ribbon and bow suggested in post #99

idtwinmom
01-31-2009, 06:16 PM
Wow! This is gorgeous!

I like the idea of a filigree frame, but gold not black, or one of the colors maybe. And maybe with the diamonds on it.

It may not need the ribbon now with the drops element, but a round bow would still be great, maybe a darker color than the flower. Maybe even with the paisley. Since that BG is fabric like, a good fabric bow.

Something more with the paisley shape to it, a swirl/flourish type corner element.

sandygb
01-31-2009, 07:06 PM
I would love one of the paisleys from the paper done as an element. Maybe in reverse colors (cream where the red is and red or brown where the cream is).

mariafer
01-31-2009, 08:11 PM
Thanks for the splotch :)!

I like Sandy's idea about the paisley...

I also think that if we do a frame maybe one with gems like the one in the flower... maybe metal and 3 of the gems in each side...

sandygb

Hmmm. I'm trying to think of how to describe this.....

A row of journaling strips. (about the same width as the frame). The row would be horizontal, but the strips would be vertical. (opposite from the skinny frame). Some of the strips could be curled up at the bottom. The strip of strips could then be placed under the frame, and little descriptives could be written on them. Does this make sense? (The text would have to be rotated).

I would also like to see this done with a "portrait" skinny frame and a column of horizontal journaling strips joined with vertical stitching in a kit sometime too.

A title saying Treasure would be pretty in gold...or some other word art in gold.

Wordart in the cream color, edged in gold or orange glitter...Jennifer's idea of Treasure? Live,Love, Laugh? Smile :)
red glitter swirl? glitter swirl overlay?
glass beads in the different colors?
double or triple circle large metal rings with beads or diamonds or small versions of the flower
a swirl with smaller versions of the flower sprinkled among the swirls and some bling and glitter in the swirl
