View Full Version : Photo Walk Route

Through the wonders of Google Maps street view I have worked out quite a nice little photo walk route for Friday afternoon/evening.
We will make this one a late Friday photo walk .
We will start at the Watermark - -diagonally opposite the watermark hotel is Q1 which is a very very very tall buidling!!- ( you can go up to take photos from the observation level but its expensive so we wont include it in the route but you could do that at another time if you wanted)
then we will walk down Clifford Street to the Beach. - We will walk along the beach for a bit - taking some photos of the beach at late afternoon/near dusk
Then back onto the Esplanade at Hanlan Street - where there are night markets on Friday nights. . Wander through the night markets toward Cavill Avenue where there is a retro looking Surfers Paradise sign which might make a good group shot venue.
Walk Up Cavill Ave - it may be getting dark and we might get some night light shots - up toward the Hard Rock Cafe. where we will officially end the photo walk .

What do you think????????? -

if you check out Flickr.com you can put in a few of those places in the search engine and check out some possible photos you might like to take!

Ive linked up a few I found here

below is a street map of the area around the hotel and I have added the walk to the map...the Friday Night Markets are held between Hanlan Street and Elkhorn Streets...
The walk would be no longer than 2 klms return ( 1.5 miles) and is easy going.....

Awesome thanks Collie - I figured it wouldnt be more than 2km - and we will be taking our time - I did some research and I think sunset will be around 5.25 so if we start at around 4.15 - 4.30 we will get an hour before sunset and hopefully get some nice sunset shots ( although the beach faces east not west it still has some nice colours at dusk.) and then the night markets and lights for later on when it gets dark

Yup I will have my mobile with me, so if anyone wants the number just send me a PM and I will give it to you. Although I haven't decided if I will take mine or dh's yet as he has GPS on his and you never know when that will come in handy!

I lived in Surfers Paradise very close to the Watermark and the route you have chosen Lauren is a nice easy one and the night markets are really good. It might be nice to reconvene after everyone has had a look at the market for a casual dinner in Cavil Ave.

As we will be doing a lot of the walk after sunset if you have a tripod or a monopod you might like to bring it along - otherwise ( and I will probably be included in this !!) just take your chances with the night time shots . .
I will be writing up crop and photo walk details and sending them out by email from the store sometime late next week.
