okey dokey ladies. I think I'm back. I had SUCH a bad headache yesterday. All I did was lay on the couch and watch America's Next Top Model (which I had seen 100x before- the one with JADE if anyone watches- ugh!).

Yeah, those photo shoots are pretty awesome...but the female rivalry is just ridiculous. There's always at least one evil female in the group...and I think that Jade was the evil one in this group.....didn't she become the NTM? She was evil. I think that's the season that I decided I couldn't watch anymore. I couldn't believe she made it. Her attitude alone was enough for me to kick her out.

No, she didn't win- she came in 3rd tho. She was awful, I wish the judges watched what went on inside the house. Danielle won that season, I liked her. Joanie was #2, liked her too.

Tina darlin, are you ok?

I worry when kids get quiet!
LOL! When kids get quiet it means one of three things in my house: Either they are asleep or they're doing something they shouldn't be doing or they're absorbed in what they are doing (usually watching a show or playing with their toys very quietly)! With my 2 year old, Alethea, it's usually that she's doing something she shouldn't be doing, and disciplinary action must be taken. With my 6 month old, it's because God has had mercy on my and she's fallen asleep.:yahoo:
Hope you're ok, Tina. Hope your sickness didn't return...you know, the lull before the storm...

I am in need of a new chair. Desperately. i can barely sit in this one anymore with out my back knotting up. I understand that, we just had to replace my MiL's chair after way to many years. Her back was also giving her trouble. She had the chair so long that her tiny butt worn an indent in the seat deep enough that she was sitting in a hole and her back was about 8 inches from the back of the chair, so when she leaned back, she made a C.
We still had to force her to give it up though

I know what you mean, Tina! We had one of those old, cheap chairs with no armrests and the smal back rest... Finally the backrest broke, so you couldn't lean back. And after sitting in it for about a half hour your butt would start to hurt. LOL! We were going to buy a new one when we found out DH's work was getting rid of some of the office furniture. He brought home one of those really nice leather chairs that lean back and has an arm rest.... It's so comfortable I can be in it all day (which I am just about!)

I am going to alter my request for the collection of 3 frames - I would like them to have a rough paper edge.
I would also like:
1. Overlapping staples
2. A hanging tag with string that can either be stapled or tied on the larger string
3. The colours of this kit are very calming to me - perhaps some relax word art similiar to the line em up or worth repeating sets.

Look at this - get forced away from the computer for a day and this kit is well on its way! Love that tone on tone! :)
I think the frame for this should be a little different - how about felt, maybe in that gold-brown color or the light tan like the string (whichever looks right).
Something that can hang from the string - liked Hannah's idea for a tag, maybe circular!
OK, need to think for a bit, but will be back with more ideas.

Ok lets get back to work
I am hoping for a tattered water staind paper frame and many some tack type round brads
shawsi

You know, I would like a sterling silver frame, or for less formal, a tin frame Maybe it could be rectangle with an oval opening. No rust...
A sprig of violets might be springy, and since we are getting more snow and ice, I would love a breath of spring.

How about some silver charms to hang on the twine: heart, star, round disc (that we could put an initial on).
idtwinmom
02-21-2009, 04:52 PM
You know, I keep thinking that comment that this seemed architectural - how about an element (frame, journal tag, something) that has a grid on it. Maybe in the brown rather than blue.

yep, we are. I should mention that I'm trying (key word trying, tho I succeeded this weekend) not to work as much on the weekend!
My baby only has 3 months of Elementary School left, and then he'll be in Jr. High! Time is slipping by on me!

How about a slightly battered aluminum frame
a piece of engineering paper (with fine squares, for drafting) for journaling
idtwinmom
02-23-2009, 11:11 AM
I like both the grid overlay and the grid journaling paper. Probably don't want both so maybe the journal paper would be best with the papers.
This kit seems to be going sleek rather than grungy, so maybe the silver frame, not frilly, very simple. Brads - square or round and again very simple!
I'm glad you have decided to slow down! Those first kits went by so fast!!!!!

I hear ya Tina. Although, my boys aren't as old as Tate, I had to register Foxton, my oldest, for kindergarten two weeks ago. I was almost in tears when I walked into the school with him to do the paperwork and have a tour of the school.
Spend as much time as you can with Tate and we totally understand that you would like your weekends for you and your family.
Handing over the mic....
Now back to the kit - I love the silver hanging charm! How about a brad or some overlapping staples in a similar colour?
mcbowersox
02-23-2009, 03:58 PM
Wow! Junior High! How fun and sad at the same time!
Good thing for you, though, is that he's a boy and will probably continue to like you throughout his teenage years! Those of us with girls don't stand a chance!
JenniferG

Christy, I agree! I only hope that God takes pity on me and gives me a son or two next, to balance out the two girls I have, which are already testing me.
Tina, poor you! Give him lots of hugs...even though he'll think you're "weird or something" for doing it! And he'll probably roll his eyes and say something like, "Come on, Mom." (even though he's secretly happy for such attention-but he'll never tell you that, well, at least not until he's much older.) LOL! Ah, the joys of motherhood.

Kindergarten was SOOOOOO hard for me! Jr High won't be easier, I'll bet and High School? OMG. College??? Pass the Xanax!
I've heard that about girls. lol... good luck!
idtwinmom
02-23-2009, 10:32 PM
Well, I managed not to cry when I took the boys to kindergarten (at least not where they could see me), but I barely made it out of the room when we took DD into pre-school for the first time! Just knowing that my baby was 'going to school' was almost more than I could take! And now I learn from you guys that it doesn't get easier!
OK, still want that journal paper and I still think a grid would work with this kit. If you really have to have grunge, maybe a ripped edge.
A simple silver frame, not real frilly, maybe with a place to hang the charm if you don't want to use the string.
I keep trying to come up with another charm like thing, but can't decide what it should be - I know, not a lot of help am I?

How did I miss the silver disc charm? I love it!!!

Instead of one frame, what about 3 or 5 overlapping one aanother and then we could use the staples to "attach it to the page".....or a thought as I am typing what about a photo frame with 3 openings?
shawsi

OK..you know that porcelain covered metal that came from the 30s or 40s. Sometimes it was called granite ware, but I am thinking about the pastel colored without specks. When it chipped you could see white and then black. How about a frame with a few small chips out of the aqua. Hope you understand what I am talking about.

What about a frame or a piece to journal on?
sueya
02-24-2009, 09:06 AM
I think some curly brackets or a chipboard swirl would look good
moog25
02-24-2009, 09:43 AM
How about a frame in the olivish green with a groove all around it filled with the twine?
Or maybe a group of round frames connected with the metal loops you attached to the tag? Not lined up exactly, but a bit off center.
moog25
02-24-2009, 09:46 AM
I think it could also use some word art. The color scheme is quite relaxing, so perhaps something about relaxation?
I haven't read all of the first 8 pages, so if I suggest something someone else mentioned, just consider mine a "second the motion" :)
how about an envelope?
eyelet trim or border to match the pretty twine
a flower in the blue color...maybe with the tiny dots like the paper?
a chain border across the top, maybe looped (like scallops dropping down every so often) so that the charm can be placed on it?
If you do the envelope idea, maybe a postage stamp style mat or sticker to go with it?...for some reason, I keep thinking of envelopes/letters.
a metal/silver swirl with gems?
a teacup with a design on it?
a floral frame?
blue gems?
and again, if someone's already mentioned these ideas, then I'm seconding them :)

Where are we at with this kit Tina?
JenniferG
02-25-2009, 02:32 PM
Tina, how about a frame.... It needs a frame. How about a brushed metal in silver with screws on each corner, either phillips or flat head. And maybe it could be slightly skewed, like one side is a little longer than the rest...

There has bee lots of suggestions for a frame - could we maybe have a frame with 3 openings that are all vertical? Not sure about the look and texture of the frame...there has been so many different suggestions. How about the a light beige one that looks like paper with a rough edge.

02-26-2009, 08:16 AM
Or chipboard with a rough edge?
howdy ladies! I'm still around. Oddly not always seeing updates for this thread. Didn't think anyone was posting, so I made a new kit, freebs bonus, and a quick click yesterday. lol.
I think we are at 8 pieces (the twine and bow are individual). I'll be out most of today, but will check back in tonight!

Yes, I agree! I like multi-frames, so how about one that is made of chipboard, has three sections to it, is grunged up a little like it is worn, is that tan color you can see in the stripe background, is scalloped and has holes cut in the frame (as a decoration for the frame)!

02-26-2009, 04:11 PM

Here's my take on this. I did 1 frame with 3 skinny sections :) Hope you like.
3 to go!

And a flower? A teal one with maybe a silver beveled beige or black button (with no holes) for the center? Or vice versa for colors...

02-26-2009, 06:12 PM
How about. . . an aluminum clip, like you sometimes see used as bookmarks? Something more functional than fancy, maybe long enough to use for journaling. Maybe a pencil. . . perhaps even a mechanical pencil. A post-it note. A stained paper coaster.

Can we have a scratchy grundge overlay?
Finally, I second the idea of a scratchy overlay - perhaps a messy grid patter in work in some earlier suggestions.
That's it for me...just seconding other suggestions.

When I read that the twine and bow were separate, I liked it but I think I'm okay with either way, they can be cropped/some erasing in a graphics program if wanted, right? because I've been wondering if I opened the twine in my graphics program and did a metallic effect if it'd look like a metal chain to put the charm on :) but I also like the twine as it is, so I'd probably try both as it is and metal effects.
