Erica

Sorry Debilou I didn't clarify this:o
Make suggestions as to styles/types of BG you'd like to see in your new kit, and choose colours from the winning colour scheme above, for example, you might like to see a background with circles or dots in the colour tones of the blue in the scheme, or you might like a heritage or paper style so that I know what I have as a starting point. Hope this helps but just ask more questions if you're not sure. :)

I just see that little girl their with her pretty bracelet..
And, I imagine, she needs, a green paper to match what you have as the base color....
With polka dots using the the two blue colors and the darker green... pretty polka dots, for a good contrast...

Ok - I'm thinking of ...for theme... kinda girly or maybe just kid playtime kit with lots of grunge & texture. I said girly cuz they are kinda boy colors so it would be kinda fun to see a girly kit in these colors. That's all my thoughts for now!

BYW... I love the green paper - Off to a awesome start!!

a blue bg like the darker blue, with light grunge around the edges, maybe with a butterfly design blended in there somewhere...

That green background is gorgeous! How about a grungy one in the dark green or dark blue.

I am seeing a diamond patterned BG, using all the colors maybe muted down a little. Maybe with a sandpapered feel

02-07-2009, 11:21 PM
That first paper just looks so serene to me, like a walk through a misty woods. Id like to see a soft slightly grunged, muted harlequin print in the 2 greens and the grey, and a grey hand made paper type texture with small flowers in the blues and leaves in the green.

Well! Those suggestions all sound great and have certainly given me something to work with - thanks ladies

Do you do "pretty"? Like a sweet little pattern over the darker blue?
Heidi
02-09-2009, 11:27 AM
Ok Erica... where is that pretty green background I saw (& commented on) right away? Maybe I'm losing it...I know it was kinda late at night...
Erica
02-09-2009, 11:34 AM
:shocked: I had it in my gallery originally and I've now moved it to the What Now Gallery - sorry forgot to change the link here :(:D
Heidi
02-09-2009, 11:38 AM
So, I'm not losing it? Well, maybe I still am... Ha Ha
I think a twine/jute flower with a jeweled center would be great!
Erica
02-09-2009, 01:38 PM
Here are the final two BG's. I heard calls for diamonds, butterflies, blues and more grunge so here is the third BG.
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/data/6790/BG_BlueDiamonds_12x12.jpg
I felt we also needed a softer, lighter colour BG to help ground the brighter coloured BG's. Someone requested a paper style so here it is.
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/data/6790/BG_GreyPaper_12x12.jpg
Let's start putting our elements together, what do you feel this needs in the way of elements? Don't forget to start thinking of a name for our kit also based on Mariafer's reason for submitting this colour scheme.
"And one last one... I got from the bracelet I made my daughter with beads I found on sale (the second bracelet she is wearing)."
debilou
02-09-2009, 02:08 PM
For a name how about
Tiffany's Jewelry Box
And, add some elements like
Gelly bracelets to match the papers (could double as frames), I see 2 together..
Some beads (could be brads to match to colors)...like the one;s in the photo.
I see these attached like ribbon border...
Maybe a tiny girl's diary open, could be used for journaling... with a little tiny key.
I'd Like to Edit the Name to "HANNAH"S JEWELRY BOX"

Oh, 4 wonderful papers! Plenty of contrasts both in tone and subtlety!
Will have to work out the principle behind the construction of the diamonds/butterflies/blue/grunge BG - I am overawed... Glad you didn't do 'pretty'!
Erica
02-09-2009, 04:07 PM
Well Jo I am in the process of writing a class specifically on background construction, hope to have it in the store over the next couple of months. For the blue diamond one I used lots of different layers and blend modes. Erased some diamonds, added some diamonds etc and the butterfly is an overlay I've used before in my Eastern Promise Kit, it consists of different layers of flower fronds, swirls and a couple of butterfly brushes. :)
Raphne
02-09-2009, 06:10 PM
Oh! Oh! Oh! I just *LOVE* that blue background. And I dont usually like bold backgrounds, but my gosh is that stunning!
I see a bronze wire frame, with glass beads in that sapphire blue and the greens, or a beaded spray.

Now I know this is a copyrighted image I found on the web... but is it possible to make a butterfly bracelet (since you have butterfly like paper)
But, using the colors in the kit of course...
and, it could double as a circle frame,
Klamb1111
02-10-2009, 09:38 AM
What about some kind of a netting or mesh.
Erica
02-10-2009, 04:17 PM
Two elements added:
Wire frame with jewels
Wire Mesh
I love the way this is developing... looking for more element suggestions. I'll be working on more beads and I love the diary idea.

Erica, your proposed class looks like just the thing I am looking for! TY :love3:
Ingenious design of frame!
Raphne
02-10-2009, 04:35 PM
Gorgeous! I adore that frame!
How about. . . a green velvet ribbon, maybe either gathered every inch or so by being strung with beads or a wire ring/wrap, or punched with brads. Something we could use with the mesh to make it look like the it was "connected" to it. Im not explaining that very well lol
debilou
02-10-2009, 04:36 PM
How about a barrette, hair clip with either butterflies or beads on it.
but, this clip could hold anything... but be way cute for girl (tween) stuff
I love the frame, that is way cool, I don't think I've seen anything like it before..

Oooh, Erica, that frame is divine! The BG's are very nice as well! I'm always looking for something to journal on - how about a post-it note in a circular shape, maybe with the bottom right side lifted a bit like they do when you pull them off of their pad? Not sure what color it should be...
Erica

If you have a Claire's near you they have every girly girl thing you can imagine...
but I was thinking of one of 2 kinds a hair clip with like a butterfly or an actual barrette (which I had trouble finding on line - exactly the one I was looking for) but here is the clip kind... from Claire's
Claire's Butterfly hairclips (http://www.claires.com/product.asp?color=pink&id=3606)
I tried to copy the photo in but couldn't, so here's the link to the page, the next best thing I could do to show you what was in my head...(scary isn't it..) ...

Debilou, to put an internet image in the forums, all you need is the http address for that image. You can find this by right clicking on the image and choosing Properties, usually at the bottom of the pop up menu. Then highlight the entire http address shown and, using the advanced options for the forum replies, you can select the little icon that looks like a mountain with a sun in the background (Insert Image Icon) and paste the images http address in there. Or, you can simply type img and put them in brackets and then type /img and put them in brackets: [*img]your image http address here[/img*] (remove the asterisk though).

Jennifer, I could sooooo do that on my PC XP or vista machine...
I even cut and paste the clips into a file, and tried to paste them into the thread.. couldn't do that either... hmmm
And, I used to be a programmer...
But on my MAC, I don't get the same options... sorry still learning the differences in the machine... we just get different options...
I'll get it sooner or later..
Took me forever to figure out how to post my thumbnails.. or grab blinkies or flairs, finally figured that out... I'll get it..

I see Mr Google has a lot of friends :D
OK two more elements added:
Small diary with key and lock
Beads coming unstrung
We need a total of 8 elements to complete this kit, so that means another four to create. I'm onto it :) but keep those ideas coming because if we don't use them all this time we can see if they'll work for March's What Now?

oooh, pretty...
I know it was mentioned already.. but I really like the idea.. of a girly pen to write in the diary...
And, I still like the hair clip or barrette idea... with a butterfly or beads attached...
Now, then can clip it to the diary...
And, now I think the name should be
Hannah's Or Heather's Diary.....
I have my favorite identical twins..that my friend has... that are the right age for this kit...

How about a white flower with a metal stem and blue gem center
A vine that could wrap around something like the frame, side of the book or metal mesh
Raphne
02-11-2009, 07:54 PM
A flower or two, in the beige with the tips of the petals tinted a color similar to the wire elements, maybe with a separate stem and leaves

Two more elements added...
A twisted Blue Ribbon to thread through the mesh frame
A bling pen with silver charm attached.
Just two more elements to go and I will choose them from the one's already suggested.
So now start putting your thinking caps on for names for the kit, so far we have:
Hannah or Heather's Jewelery Box
Dear Diary

mmmm, I really love that ribbon! And such a pretty pen :-)
I'd still like a pretty piece of jewelry, a brooch or barret like has been mentioned, maybe a butterfly, frog, or dragonfly, or even just a jeweled design. The dragonfly would be my vote, but I think of the little girl in the inspiration picture and I just bet she likes frogs lol!
Hmmmm. . . bet she also likes rocks. How about some polished rocks, maybe like the gems but not round.
As for a kit name? That little girl's smile is captivating. How about "Maria's Smile" -- "Adreana's Smile" since I think that is her name!
Klamb1111

The colors make me think of the louisiana bayou's. Maybe a name like:
Louanna's Bayou Box
Or maybe Jeweled Secrets
Or Little Book of Secrets
Or Girls Book of Secrets
Or Girls Life
Or Girl Bead-Azzled
Or something like that.
debilou
02-12-2009, 04:42 PM

Where have I been! I am planning a trip and have been gone and then today I stopped by and saw this beautiful kit! I love it!
and I of course love Raphne's name suggestions :)! Adreana does have a beautiful smile.
For the last couple of suggestions I would love a barret with a bead like on her bracelet... the lighter blue flower.
I also think a silk flower would be nice for the kit. The color of the ribbon or white but with lots of layer and a bit crinkled, like it was held in a little girls hand for a long time.
