I'm thinking St Patrick's day is in a month and I have been looking for classic Irish theme kit and having a hard time finding what I'm looking for. Here are my color swatches. I still don't know if I think they're the right color combinations though

http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/data/6727/color-swatch-11.jpg

http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/data/6727/Irish1.jpg

I'm thinking shamrocks, pewter, cobblestones and celtic knots etc. NOT leprechauns, pots of gold or rainbows

Either the dark grey or the dark green "smudged" with the lighter color, sort of like the clouds in the sky.

I could really use a new grungy overlay.

Has anyone requested a paper that is similar to the colors and textures of the mountain in the photo?

Lauren, those backgrounds are gorgeous!!!!! I think that it would be awesome to have some sort of cloudy overlay...a cloudy, worn vignette effect...

shawsi
02-15-2009, 01:21 AM
This looks very manly. Don't ask me why, but an old pocket knife comes to mind.

A fly, like we use in fly fishing.

A minnow bucket.

How about a gold sunflower?

Frog eggs will be on the water soon.

How about some twigs...or a twig frame

Robin eggs in a nest

tangled fishing line with a bobber and sinkers

shawsi
02-15-2009, 01:32 AM
Sandy's flowers would be nice for the gold and the green.

I like the rock idea too, or maybe just pebbles. If you use pebbles it could be incorporated with the fishing line and maybe a rusty hook or two.

Driftwood?

Would it be possible to make water, like it rolled across the edge of the paper. Beaded up,,,3 dimensional looking. Don't know if I am getting that across

The papers are so rich looking Lauren, I know I am going to want this kit already.

Have you thought about manzanita branches as an element? I couldn't find many photos of it, but you can see some examples on the web at nettletonhollow.com The thicker branches are pretty and sometimes they look like driftwood.

WOW - so sorry I have been gone so long but what truly fab papers! Just love that ripped linen and the watery grey is exactly what I had in mind. I think this kit really needs the rusty metal items suggested - they would pick up the yellow a bit as well. What about one of your punched out circle things (don't know what they are called but you put one in Foggy day and a similar one in River Bank). Or maybe a rusty edgy thingy - like a frame for the whole page. Or some of the yellow flowers mentioned with a rusty wire holding them together in a posy (or the mannish version of a posy!)

Raphne

WOW! Those papers are just knock out gorgeous! I am in awe. . . 'course, I often am when I see Laurens work lol

How about a soft, frayed burlap strip, tied in a knot? Either as a full page length element, or maybe as a wrap around a frame. My thoughts for the frame would be either a weathered wood, but thin, a rusted metal, or a worn paper. How is that for pretty much anything lol

MarsOlson

overlay with soft vignette edges. cloud/sky overlay with half flipped for reflection.

well this probably is NOTHING like what you were expecting and I must say its a very different thing to include in a kit but it has a cloud effect combined with grunge - and its more the sort of thing I would normally include in an overlay stack - but what the heck - might make for some interesting effects........

Great papers and overlay! I was also loving showing the inspiration on the previews!

I'm sitting in my kitchen (usually in the office) and looking around for inspiration. I have this hanging on my wall (rock paper scissors can settle just about anything at our house, and it is from Napa Style (http://www.napastyle.com/)):

How about a distressed/rusted metal sign like this, in more earthy colors, that could be used for a title or journaling.

I like this idea, maybe with some of river rocks that are a smooth and polished like I see at museum gift shops all the time. Tigers eye or mica?? I store I went to on my last trip through the mountains had strings of rounded magnetic rocks that were black but reflective kinda like dark water. That might be cool as element or to make up a frame.

The minute I saw the sign in the catalog, I knew that it had to be in our house! I do believe it was a 5th wedding anniversary president to my husband! Oh the stories I could tell about Rock Paper Scissors shoot outs (not to mention Bear Hunter Karate Man, which is the full body action version ... you stand up, jump up and down 3 times and then become either a Bear (hands high up over your head), Hunter (both hands held out like guns) or Karate Man (strike a karate pose). Bear beats Karate Man (eats him). Hunter beats Bear (shoots him). Karate Man beats Hunter (knocks the gun out of his hand).

I like Kathleen's idea of a rusty, metal sign to use for journaling. Cool idea!

Oh and Jennifer - I did a wooden row boat in another kit - One of the Old man and the sea addons - I think one wooden boat is enough for me!!!!!

MarsOlson

how about bundles or sprays of the long drying grasses and reeds found along waterways

... so far the kit keeps making me think of some wonderful photos my daughter has from a trip on Lake Titicaca where the natives live on these amazing floating reed islands on the lake... they replenish the islands from the abundant reeds and grasses along the banks. the colours and feel of the pieces make me think of big sky, big water and waters edge

The inspiration photo and the papers remind me of nature, so I'm trying to think along those lines......I like the suggestion of rocks and driftwood or a wooden plank, or an old sign.

A broken chard from a piece of old pottery

This may be a better idea for a separate set of "things", but I would love to see what you might come up with Lauren.

Have you seen the kits you can purchase that allow you to transfer a photo onto a tile or stone? Tilano (http://www.tilanofresco.com/index.htm) is the company I have seen most, here is an example from their web site:

http://www.tilanofresco.com/GreenKiteClient/GreenCatalog/catalog_item/att_picture/1119_picture.jpg

Could you create a piece of stone (or maybe a group of three, turned different ways) that could either be used as accents on a page, or to blend photos onto?

sandygb

Metal brad/screw rectangle, like the ones in the corner of the frame. Maybe even a rivet frame to go round the whole page.

Along the lines of the flat stones....how about a piece of textured, aged cream color artists canvas that is torn and tattered. (I'm thinking along the lines of your Quick Bits). You could even use one of your Quick Bit masks to create the element. We could use it as a canvas to blend a photo onto or for journaling.

Looks like I'm coming in on the tail end.
How about an edge overlay of simple slanted lines in varying lengths(I'm thinking of something reminiscent of driving rain?) in gold or rust or copper.

Still like the idea of a length of frayed, faded fine burlap, tied in a knot

And. . . I agree, this is amazingly beautiful!

There is an overlay already Moog. It's a bit hard to see in the preview, but it's placed over the lightest paper and looks green and foggy, similar to an overlay Lauren would include in an overlay stack set. It should be fun to work with.

S

Would it be possible to make water, like it rolled across the edge of the paper. Beaded up,,,3 dimensional looking. Don't know if I am getting that across

Ok now we just need a name

Name time?

How about making it part of the Forgotten Series and calling it "Forgotten Wilderness" or Wonderful Wilderness
Awesome Wilderness
Touching Nature
Driftwood Fantasy
Driftwood Dreamer

Oh - I can't think of anything absolutely perfect!!
