 Hi Grannies, Happy Birthday to you all, and hugs to all those that need it, be it for successes, failures, heart ache, or just because .
I had a wonderful day with DH. One I think I can rate as one of them in the top 10 I've ever spent with him. It was so wonderful just to enjoy each others company and laugh and joke between ourselves, without any interruptions from third parties, be those friends or children. I think I fell back in love again today! We shopped together, had lunch together, and shopped again. We walked hand in hand (not really acceptable here in a Muslim world), talked about arbitrary things, talked about serious things, and it was just so good to feel so relaxed in each others company again. It was an awesome day!
We both spent a bit of money :).... I'm now the proud owner of not only a Canon 50D, but also a Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO Macro lens, and a Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 Wide Angle lens, along with a polarizer filter for my 18-200mm lens and the 70-300mm lens.
DH also got a few toys, one of them being a Bose Noise reducing set of earphones for his many travels abroad.
Wow.... I feel good :)
You know, Sands, this really made me smile. I have the greatest respect for folks who are married, and wish that there were more reports of wonderful days like this from all!
Here's wishing you, and all the other happily married grannies, a lifetime of wonderful days!

Today I took Donn's camera and took some good photos not as great as he used to get but I was pretty pleased with a few of them so here is one I used foe the graphics challenge this month

I'm whining again. Seems like that's all I do when I pop in these days. I'll try to get better!
I fell yesterday--walking to my car, minding my own business. There was this uneven patch in the pavement that grabbed my shoe, twisted me all about, causing me to scrape my knee and do damage to not just the left foot, but the right foot as well.
On the bright side, it was Wednesday acupuncture day, and the wonderful folks at Remedy treated me really well. Chinese Trauma 1, arnica, needles in all the right places--and instructions to elevate and stay off my feet today. Ice packs, and short heat bursts.
Amazingly, this morning the right foot is much, much better. I think it's because that's the foot we concentrated on in the session, as it was the foot that was throbbing the most. (You should have seen me as I hobbled out to the car when my dd picked me up!) I am an acupuncture convert!
And so, I'll be calling in to work, staying in bed (gotta get the lappie moved and set up!) and with the exception of having to take Mother to her PT eval, I will be taking care of ME!
Now! On to less whining...
Take Care, Scamp!

Hey Grans - ALessandro's passport is missing so I waited til he went out to the pool hall tonight and went lookin' for it. Does it cost the same to get one replaced as it does when you get one in the first place?
I can't find it. He won't be going back to England for 2 months, but, where are my $240 in euro travellers checks that were with it??? I want those!
Do you reckon I can cash my dirhams in at the airport when I go up to the Gold Coast? I want the cash in Aus dollars now.

Hello loves! Just a quick pop-in! We're having a blast with Summer here. My house is non-stop chaos from about the time Chris gets out of school until he goes home at 9:00! He's a great kid, though, and they're never truly "alone" together....she DOES have 3 other siblings hanging about. But it's fun to tease them...a couple of examples:
If I see them smooching, I holler: EEEWWWW!!!! That's worse than watching my PARENTS KISS!!!
If they're cuddled up, I walk in demanding: HANDS CHECK!!! -- to which they both reply by throwing their hands in the air!
Keeping them on their toes!! They're so darned cute though! :love2::love1::hug:
Right now she's at Chris' sister's softball game with him and his family. It goes until 10:00 tonight, but I'm ok with that since Chris' dad is with them and driving them straight home. It's a little too late for my younger 3, so they're kinda mad at me, but oh well. They've inherited the "monster-in-the-morning" syndrome from me. So school night = bed by 8:30!! I'll make it up to them tomorrow and take them to the lakefront after an early supper, then we'll hit Sonic for an ice cream treat before we go back home. That should work, right?
Gotta run...time to hose them all down and toss them in bed!! I'll be back....
:love1: U ALLLLLL!!!!!! :hug: :hug: :hug: :hug::hug::hug::love3::love1::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I had a wonderful day with DH. One I think I can rate as one of them in the top 10 I've ever spent with him. It was so wonderful just to enjoy each others company and laugh and joke between ourselves, without any interruptions from third parties, be those friends or children. We walked hand in hand (not really acceptable here in a Muslim world), talked about arbitrary things, talked about serious things, and it was just so good to feel so relaxed in each others company again. I was thrilled with my LO being chosen for LOTD but was very surprised as I posted this one in Feb !! How do they choose ??? Tell me Scamp..PQ ..how do you it ??? Who all chooses ??? STICKY BEAKS AND ALL !!!!
What's interesting is that there's one LOTD picker that really is anonymous!
Here's a thread that got posted back before I started...How to Increase Your Chances (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36247)...
That said, picking the layout of the day is really rewarding, but really really hard! There are just too many really spectacular layouts, and then there are times when a theme is running through my head and I see one that hits it. We also get suggestions from other team members, and other DSP members.

Raffie - its not anything to do with being mad at you - its just that sometimes life takes over and suddenly the thread has moved on 5 pages. Consider every comment you receive a bonus. I flit in and out of this thread, depending on what DH has me doing next. Sometimes I just cant keep up and scrap as well. We all love you - just go with the flow.

this might be the quote: "A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person." ~ Germaine Greer
This is the best quote. I need to use this quote ASAP!
7am - no way you are going to get me out of bed at that time for a chat - sorry I am not a morning person (you will find out Jill when you share with me:lol:)
I am not a morning person either and about 2 years ago, I convinced DH that he should be the one to get the girls up and moving in the morning since I am a beast before my first cup of coffee. Now he gets them going at 6:15 and I roll out of bed whenever........
Off to work in a second. Drat!
Sarah's party is on tomorrow night so I had to shop for it today. She wants a bar-b-q so OB can do that. I will be at work. Sure costs a lot to have a party these days. With only a couple of days notice it has been a bit hectic.
Saw the stupidest TV segment on the Food Network where they said you can do a party on the cheap. Every other thing she said was to get this or that out of the pantry, (some of the things we already had) but the long and short of it was that by the time you replace everything you used from the pantry it wasn't really inexpensive. They made pizzas on the grill outside with Veggies from the freezer, mushrooms from a can and a bunch of different cheeses. The food looked great, even the dessert pizza. BTW, we make these pizzas all the time now, my fav is frozen spinish, goat cheese and pine nuts.....YUM!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Sarah!
Whine away my dear, you have earned it! If the acupuncture does not work, spend your time here in the GT and the smiles will make you feel better.:hug::hug:
I had a bit of an emotional trip too the Zoo today going to the zoo and taking photos was a regular thing Donn and I loved to do both when we were together and when we were apart. Today I took Donn's camera and took some good photos not as great as he used to get but I was pretty pleased with a few of them so here is one I used foe the graphics challenge this month

By the way Sands, I have that Sigma wide angle lens also - its what I used for this photo. I actually use it a lot.

Hope you are all enjoying the same kind of lovely sunshine as we are having here!

I have been using Picasa since Lauren had a chat/class on it. I do NOT use it for scrapbooking elements. I use PSCS4 Bridge for scrapbook stuff. Picasa is for my photos, layouts, scans only. I know not everyone does that but that is how *I* do it.
With help from Lauren I discovered searches in Bridge so I can look for "buttons", "Frames", Groupies"...whatever I want by label. Our dear designers already use the words we need in their descriptions.

. . .any suggestions on what a downunder granny flattie visitor would wear this time of year?
A politically correct fake kangaroo fur bikini.
A cowboy type hat with corks hanging from it. check
A Parramatta Eels cap.
A pair of black Country Road pants. 007: Borrow some from my wardrobe.
Thongs. check
Boardshorts. check
Twin set and pearls. check
Italian leather handbag. check
May in Queensland is still warm during the day so you will need tongs...on your feet(not the other kind) sunnies and a big hat check
Tongs Dags?
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: why not??? :lol::lol::lol::lol: check

Which version of Bridge are you using? I have PSCS 4 and keep reading that Bridge is greatly improved. Think I'm just going to have to bite the bullet, sit down, and start learning it. :worried: :annoyed:

Wow, just counted up my euros and I am RICH! That extra 150 in the travellers checks made all the difference. And then I counted my dirhams and I have 290 of those, and if I can convert them to euros, then they are worth 60, so hopefully I can get 50 for them!
I can call the travelex place at the airport and see. Cool bananas mates!
I want to go to the mall and look for a new small pull on in the lightweight Skyway brand. That is what my new suitcase is. The older I get, the less I want to have my luggage weigh. That is also why I have gone over to the LeSportsac handbag range. They weigh NOTHING. No neck or choulder pain from carrying a LeSportsac. I changed over to them two years ago and gave a lot of my Italian leather handbags to my friend Sylvia.
I have LeSportsacs in a range of sizes - five different sizes and they fold up completely flat. I think I have 10 of them actually.
Leslie
04-23-2009, 05:35 PM
And I don't have to cart so many heavy books in my luggage now that I have discovered audio books on the ipod touch, and also the ereader/kindle type books on it as well.
Leslie
04-23-2009, 05:44 PM
Hmmm, travelex said to change the dirhams in Italy. They only offered me $89 Aus. for them, but, that is better then having 290 useless dirhams in my hand. So shall change them when I am at the airport next, in 13 days! That will pay for entry and a coke or two, into one of the Gold Coast theme parks.

Travel bugs can be let loose to go wherever or they can have missions. I recently placed one that liked to eat in out of the way restaurants and to have it's photo taken at the restaurant. (This one is on my Follow list in case it finds some really good places to eat. LOL) Another one I picked up and then placed in a cache wants to go to every state in the USA. My travel bug, that I left in Newfoundland, had no mission and has been to British Columbia, Hong Kong and is now in England. My Alex memorial travel bug was recently picked up and taken to Colorado. Neither of my two bugs have any mission.
I don't have time to order bugs and get them here before we leave on May 6, so will have to get them sent to Utah and I won't get there until May 19.
It is free to join geocaching.com and then you can put them on a Follow list and see where they go. I can also post the info about where they go here.

I am going to go look to see if the Skyway brand has a small carry on with wheels. I had $80 in vouchers last year which I used to put towards my very light weight bag for Italy this year. But now I want a much lighter one to wheel around Singapore airport that will hold my laptop.
Will go now and will report back later. Good luck getting your backpack.

The chocoalte mud cake I bought was $4.50 from Coles! And I'm glad I didn't have to pay for anything else apart from the present.
I am back from the mall and that was a total waste of my time. It was noisy and chockers full of so many people and was SO noisy. I can't improve on the carry on that I already have.
And I nearly got smacked into on the way home, but it's OK - she smacked into someone else! It was a WHACK! She crumpled up that other car.
She had pulled out into the traffic - which was me, had nowhere to go and no room so she reversed lickety split right hard into the car behind her. Wow did she crumple up that bonnet. Oh dear. I was sorry, but very relieved. I was off the road for two weeks last July when a twit ran up the back of my BEAUTIFUL shiny black car at a T junction.

Ok...back to page 611, and I'll just have to catch up from there.

First appearance of the flatties was at the Anaheim Crop in January 2007.
Recognize anyone? (If the images are causing a problem, let me know and I'll replace with thumbnails to the gallery.)

I love Walkers shortbread!
Hey - Um, I don't like going to the mall alone. Somebody come with me to the luggage store? I do all my shopping on line.
Sure, I'll come with you. I had a LeSportSac way back in junior high. I didn't even know they were still in existance.

Omi, I got distracted by a shiney thang!!!! So fascinating reading about the Goldenson fellow. And the post mortem photo discussion. I have seen some old victorian death photos before and they are so macabre.
I actually have one. It is of my great Uncle who died as a toddler. Very strange to have a photo of him bight eyed and healthy and then one of him from with in that same year of him after he died. So sad actually.

Hey, where IS Kasha? Know that isn't her name any more but we haven't seen her in too long. For those of you who don't know, Kasha sent many of us flatties to her son in Iraq and we were adopted by the guys. They hung us from the mirrors in their Humvees and a few grannies even got Purple Hearts -- they ripped and had to be stapled and taped. Sure hope all of our guys are still safe and sound.
Oh that is so cool. Might have to think about sending us all to Afganastan before my brother comes home.
