Come sing with me:
"Hello, world, here's a song that we're singin',
C'mon get happy
A whole lotta lovin' is what we'll be bringin',
We'll make you happy
We had a dream we'd go trav'lin' together
We'd spread a little lovin' then we'd keep movin' on
Somethin' always happens whenever we're together
We get a happy feelin' when we're singin' a song
Trav'lin' along there's a song that we're singin',
C'mon get happy
A whole lotta lovin' is what we'll be bringin',
We'll make you happy
We'll make you happy,
We'll make you happy"

I've made a lateral executive decision. I lurk to much on this thread these days, reading all the time and no time left to post replies. So for a trial period I will read the first couple of posts and then post a comment. That way I wont get side tracked and you won't all think I've run away to a far off land that has no wifi. Plus I seriously need to locate my mojo, I've misplaced it somewhere, if you should see it knocking about under someones lappie or pushed behind a folder smack it hard on the back and send it home to moma. I haven't scrapped a single thing since errr April I think. Eeek it's never been so long.
Do you think our mojos have run away together? :( :(

I am having fleeting thoughts of saving my money and upgrading my CS2 .......... but I hate the thought of trying to learn a new program. Those of you who have upgraded .........what do you think?
I read that learning a new computer program is better for keeping your brain young than doing Sudoko--what better excuse do you need to get an upgrade? :D

we are in germany with my parents now...
had a big ol' poopy day last Tuesday when the final electricity bill was 2400 Euro/3200 Dollar... think the meter is broken but what can ya do?
nothing *sighs*
The last days in Belgium were a flurry of running around, doing things last minute, and being stressed out.
We got the no interest loan from ACS with no problems at all on last Wednesday. You know it's bad if you come in and say "Hi, we are PCSing and we need a loan." and the lady says "Oh, did you get your final electricity bill?"
Then the next day we had to rush back to the house and recheck the water meter because the housing inspector wrote down the wrong number (515 instead of 51).
The water people told housing flat out that there is no way we could have used 2000 Euro worth of water and to go recheck the reading.
Now we are getting 150 Euro back
On our last day, we went and closed out the bank account... at which point I realized I had forgotten to stop the automatic rent payments... dooh!
Luckily the landlord was nice enough to meet me one town over at the trainstation and give me the 840Euro in cash.
That could have been a disaster...
Friday morning was only the vet left.
Kitty had a freak out in the car, crying, hyperventilating, drooling, losing everything in her bladder and bowels.
We gave her Benadryl at the vet, which caused fighting and mouth foaming for 5+ min, but she was calm and curious during the 6 hour car ride to Germany instead of terrified.
Since Friday we have effectively done nothing aside from trying to relax... Sunday we drive to Hamburg for our trip to the US.
and now I have to go read up on 100 pages!
chatty bunch :)

Sounds like you're having quite an adventure!
I just got a photobook today too! :D Ordered one of Blurb.com. It wasn't layouts though, just regular photos and text. I'd made them as Christmas presents but didn't get them finished in time, and then was busy until I remembered last week and finished them off. Its very exciting!
Thanks for all your good wishes about the wedding. I still feel daft when people ask about our plans because its so far away that we don't have any, and then I get worried that we should have some, and then I'm just like ARG!
Got to get to work now, been in the library 2 hours now and done nothing productive! Well, I'll comment all your LOs, and THEN I'll get to work. One week left and then freedom!

This wasn't directed at me, but that's the kind of external drive I have. I have mine permanently attached to my laptop with velcro, because although this computer is great, it's HD is small - so I call it my computer's external brain pack (it's an old Dilbert joke). Very easy to use, and so far, very reliable. I got the 500 GB, because it was on sale and I knew I would have a very difficult time filling that!
I had mine velcroed to my old computer, too. Now I a new computer with oodles of space. I do have an external desktop HD that act simply as back up for productive days.

I am so jealous! How did you do it?????
Stopped eating dinner (especially those 8 PM dinners) and most meat, except for weekends, and added more fiber to my diet, which was all prompted by the sighting of diverticulosis during a colonoscopy. I have a salad for lunch almost every single work day and snack on Triscuits and ice water when I get home.

So, one year ago today, I lost a job that I hated because of a boss that I hated even more. I had committed for two years, so I had not really considered leaving, but it was a blessing in disguise. I got 5 weeks of severance pay, and found a job three weeks after the severance ended, the one that I am currently in. Even with all the stress that is currently surrounding my job, I am so much happier here, I can't even begin to tell you.
Although at the time I was so embarrassed and hurt, I also felt an amazing sense of relief. I never had to return, never had to deal with any of the stupid things that I had been dealing with for a year, never deal with my boss again, and left all the stupid messes that I had been dealing with from other people for them to sort out. I was so run down that I was sick for two weeks afterwards, sicker than I have been in a long time, but then I was able to apply for jobs and find this one.
I got a kick in the pants from the universe to do something different and I am so, so glad that I did!

This was taken a couple of years ago at my parent's house. From L to R: Christine, Jessica, and Melissa.
Check out the Fridge in the background. I bet if I went through all the layers of papers stuck on there with magnets, I could find and old report card or two of mine. Seriously, the outside of that fridge doubles as a time capsule.

Love the old phot and wow look at that fridge......lots of neat memories attached to it. What a nice photo and thanks for sharing it with us. I think of fridges, my mom never put a thing on hers until she was past 70 years of age now it is a place for photos of the latest grand child or a card from family or friends.
I have very little on my fridge, but my daughter has a photo of every child she teaches on hers, says it reminds her of her responsibility to these sweet young students. We all smile at them each and every day.
What do the rest of you have on your fridges??????

Well, I lost quotes again, so WVS, WOS, WCS, WEES, :love1:,, :yahoo:,, -------
And another thing: If my flattie was with those wonton women at the condom store, I am sure she thought it was a condiment store. I really don't think she was there since was glued to the "Granny Board" that Caro made.
Cardiologist gave the OK to procede with the back surgery. The sooner the better since my nerves are getting frayed just thinking about it.

I love stories like this! Proof positive that there is a reason for everything, and that we see what we look for. You found the good, and there you go!

I agree with Scamp, Jessica...
it's amazing how the the Lord has a "bigger" plan for us.. we just didn't know it at the time... And, it was a much better plan.

I also love when the reasons are so clear - sometimes in life, things can get very foggy, so I am grateful for the situation in which things are for once clear and you can at least pretend you understand "the plan"

Loved Loved Loved your slide show. Had a good laugh at Essee's new boyfriend in the speedos too! You all look like you had such a good time.
What is with this past April when everyone (well ot everyone but a good majority of Us) lost our mojo? Was it the end of winter blues or what?? I got mine back a little but it's still sliding around and trying to leave me again. I'm hanging on tight tho. Cathie, you better get yours back. Your pages are awesome and I learned so much from you! Come back to us Cathie!

When we got our new black refrigerator, I vowed to keep mine *empty*! However... I do have birthday cards my two older grandsons made me in 2008 and the pictures the older grandson made and sent to me and Grandpa and our doctors' appointment cards.

Hello sweet grannies! I'm finally to the point where I can post without sobbing over the dog. My gawd that was hard!
We waited to tell DD until her finals were over although she called several times and at one point asked me how Loki was doing. All I could do was tell her, "the same." She said, "No better?" "No" "Is she worse?" "Not really." Then I quickly changed the subject. She told her boyfriend that if Loki died before finals were over, she would flunk. She suspected something was going on.
We went over on Friday and after moving her out of the dorm, pulled her aside and DH told her about the bone cancer and that we had to put her down while he broke into sobs. I had to tell her the rest as she cried and sobbed and help her pack a few things to go back with us. She thanked me for not telling her before finals which I thought was very mature of her.
When we got back DD spent the entire night and most of Saturday feigning happiness for the dog's sake. I don't know how she did it, but she made Loki a happy dog her last night.
We called the vet Saturday morning to see if they could come to the house to do the euthanasia in the hopes of making the end less scary for Loki. They agreed to come that afternoon (I was hoping they wouldn't be able to). We gave her an anti-anxiety pill to try and relax her, but it didn't work very well. When the vet and tech got there and attempted to put in the IV, they failed 5 times on the back leg and another 3 times on the front. The more than tried, the more freaked out the dog got - shaking and flailing, trying to get up. DD started sobbing. Finally DH grabbed a lamp and pointed it at her leg and she finally got it in. I wish they'd asked for light before or at least given her a sedative when they saw she was scared. It was very traumatic for all of us, but especially for DD. After that it was all over in a matter of minutes.
DD decided she wants to sprinkle the ashes over a river since Loki loved to swim, so we are getting those back in about two weeks.
DH and I are still a mess, crying every time we talk about it or accidentally look for her. Our other dog acts sad too, poor thing. She watched the whole thing and when it was over, I let her go thinking she would go sniff Loki. She ignored her altogether and went around to lick everyone instead as if to comfort us humans.
I'm going to splurge this time and get a memorial stone for her, put it up at the new house and plant a tree and maybe some flowers. She was the most special dog. We all miss her greatly!

Do it! It's not THAT much different...just some nifty added features you can learn at your leisure or not at all. I think it's $199 for an upgrade to CS3, not sure what CS4 is.

So I need to give u all an update on my bil. We had a family party over the w/e and he came and it was the first time since the accident that he didn't look like he was in recovery. Kwim? He is still in a wheelchair and is still recovering but it looked to me like he had finally turned the corner! Can u believe it was almost a year ago? June 20. He is starting to look like his old self again. He still has so many things to deal with but I am grateful he has moved away from death's door! Prayers work! Hugs!

I am sobbing reading this what a traumatic experience for you all I am sending you all my love and hugs

Debilou--when did you go to Zilker Gardens, and why didn't you ask me???
Don't answer that--I've been snowed under, dagnabbit, even though the temps are really rising!
I remember Zilker Park from when I lived in Austin; I don't think it was a *Garden* then though. But they had a huge Christmas tree every year that was made of strings of lights that somehow looked spiraled. If you stood under it and turned around it was really cool and made you really dizzy! And they had Christmas fireworks there too. It was a surprise to me since we sure never had Christmas fireworks in Ohio!

we are in germany with my parents now...
:yippee::yippee::yippee::yippee::yippee: Glad you made it to your parents, sounded like a little bit of drama with the meters and the cat! Does kitty have to go into quarrantine at any stage? 30 days in quarrantine if travelling here. Plus they get blood tested for rabies. My cats dont like short car trips even getting to them to the vet is an ordeal, cant imagine 5 hours!

You will be surprised how fast that time flies Katie! Did you like your book? At the crop we just had down here many people brought different books and albums and they all looked terrific. The Blurb books have wonderful silky paper.

Sounds like someone is looking after you Jess!:hug::hug:

Love the old phot and wow look at that fridge......lots of neat memories attached to it. What a nice photo and thanks for sharing it with us. I think of fridges, my mom never put a thing on hers until she was past 70 years of age now it is a place for photos of the latest grand child or a card from family or friends.
I have very little on my fridge, but my daughter has a photo of every child she teaches on hers, says it reminds her of her responsibility to these sweet young students. We all smile at them each and every day.
What do the rest of you have on your fridges??????
Hi Carma!!! :hug::hug::hug::yippee::yippee::yippee:

Hugs!

This is so sad Hoozie my heart breaks for all of you - my Buster is close to this stage as well and I just cant make myself do it :hug::hug:
Inky, I'm not sure why it was so different when I had to take the kids' dog to the vet more than 15 years ago. I held her and the vet gave her a single injection of some kind. Of course, I was bawling the whole time but she just looked up at me like she was thankful and then she dropped off. That was hard enough -- no family or pet should have to go through hoozie's experience. :(
So I need to give u all an update on my bil. We had a family party over the w/e and he came and it was the first time since the accident that he didn't look like he was in recovery. Kwim? I agree with Scamp, Jessica...
it's amazing how the the Lord has a "bigger" plan for us.. we just didn't know it at the time... And, it was a much better plan.
What is that saying? It's something like God answers all prayers even when we don't always hear or like the answers?

Hello sweet grannies! I'm finally to the point where I can post without sobbing over the dog. My gawd that was hard! We all miss her greatly!
My heart goes out to you Hoozie.... I know exactly what you are going through. My champion boy had bone marrow cancer at the time that he was competing for the South African Champion Title, which he won. I didn't know it at the time. He'd just had frequent nose bleeds, which we thought was as a result of Elichia (a strain of billiary) I had to put him down under similar circumstances. Called the vet hoping he'd say that he couldn't make it that day, which he said he couldn't, but then called back to say that it was better that it was done that day, so he had changed his arrangements.
I immediately went home to spend some time with my boy. The vet arrived later that afternoon, I sat on the floor and my boy came over and laid between my legs resting his head on my thigh. He looked up at me with love in his eyes, wagged his tail and I told him how much I loved him. When he took his last breath, it was a sigh of relief, he was finally out of pain.
That was in 2003, and as I type this, the tears are rolling down my cheeks.... I still miss him terribly. I wish I was there with you!

Hugs!
Great news Chris.
Super fun from the down under crew! I am glad u found me. I was all sad I wasn't on the gt poster, thought u had kicked me out of the club! :D

Okay- for the record. I DID NOT know that my husband was going to log into the chats last night. When I did, I figured he wouldn't stick around. I was pleasantly surprised that he stayed the whole time I did.
He's a good guy. We tend to like to get to know each other's friends for the simple reason that if they are friends of mine (or his) than they must be worth getting to know.
Mars told him that he had to complete a layout by next weeks New Comer Chat. This morning he was asking me photoshop questions. How funny is that. I can't get him to finish my bathroom but Mars can get him to start a whole new endeavor.

Hugs Suz... :love3::love3:

No time to read today but I thought I'd share this with you all. Very Interesting
Maybe this will boggle your mind, it sure did mine! The year is 1905, one
hundred years ago.
What a difference a century makes!
Here are some of the U.S. statistics for 1905:
The average life expectancy in the US. was 47 years.
Only 14 percent of the homes in the U.S. had a bathtub.
Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone.
A three-minute call from Denver to New York City cost eleven dollars.
There were only 8,000 cars in the U.S., and only 144 miles of paved
roads.
The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph.
Alabama, Mississippi, Iowa, and Tennessee were each more heavily
populated than California.
With a mere 1.4 million residents, California was only the 21st most
populous state in the Union.
The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower!
The average wage in the U.S. was 22 cents an hour.
The average U.S. worker made between $200 and $400 per year.
A competent accountant could expect to earn $2000 per year, a dentist $2,500 per year, a veterinarian between $1,500 and $4,000 per year, and
a mechanical engineer about $5,000 per year.
More than 95 percent of all births in the U.S. took place at home.
Ninety percent of all U.S. physicians had no college education.
Instead, they attended medical schools, many of which were condemned
in the press and by the government as "substandard."
Sugar cost four cents a pound.
Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen.
Coffee was fifteen cents a pound.
Most women only washed their hair once a month, and used borax or egg
yolks for shampoo.
Canada passed a law prohibiting poor people from entering the country
for any reason.
The five leading causes of death in the U.S. were:
1. Pneumonia and influenza
2. Tuberculosis
3. Diarrhea
4. Heart disease
5. Stroke
The American flag had 45 stars.
Arizona, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Hawaii, and Alaska hadn't been admitted
to the Union yet.
The population of Las Vegas, Nevada, was 30!!!
Crossword puzzles, canned beer, and iced tea hadn't been invented.
There was no Mother's Day or Father's Day.
Two of 10 U.S. adults couldn't read or write.
Only 6 percent of all Americans had graduated high school.
Marijuana, heroin, and morphine were all available over the counter at
corner drugstores.
According to one pharmacist, "Heroin clears the complexion, gives
buoyancy to the mind, regulates the stomach and bowels, and is, in fact, a
perfect guardian of health."
Eighteen percent of households in the U.S had at least one full-time
servant or domestic.
There were only about 230 reported murders in the entire U.S.
And I sent this to hundreds of people without typing it myself, a matter of seconds! Try to imagine what it may be like in another 100 years ....... it staggers the mind

I like that philosophy about each other's friends.
Mars truly is amazing, isn't she! All I have to do to get DH to finish a project is to start finishing it myself. He can't stand to let me get the last word, nail, or paint stroke in. Probably because I have a tendency to remind him of it. :D :D

Oh Suz, when I read this it brought tears to my eyes. We have two puppies (not really puppies but that's what they are to me) that are more like my kids. More spoiled than my kids ever were! I was looking into Kaylee's whitening face just the other day thinking how would I handle it if it was her time to go. I know I will be much like you and unable to function for days. My heart goes out to all of your family as I know all too well the pain and heartbreak you are enduring.

Do you downsize them first ??

Love the old phot and wow look at that fridge......lots of neat memories attached to it. What a nice photo and thanks for sharing it with us. I think of fridges, my mom never put a thing on hers until she was past 70 years of age now it is a place for photos of the latest grand child or a card from family or friends.
I have very little on my fridge, but my daughter has a photo of every child she teaches on hers, says it reminds her of her responsibility to these sweet young students. We all smile at them each and every day.
What do the rest of you have on your fridges??????

I am so so busy that I may not get to the end of this multi-post but know that if I included it it was for a reason......sorry.
Acacia had her spring Band and choir concert last night but I fear that the photos may stay in the cmaera for weeks. We have crisis after crisis here (financially) and then still have to deal with all of the usual teen issues. I know the stress is getting to the girls too and that is effecting everything.
I had a choice to comment on the great LOs of those that support me and post on the GT or Comment on everyones LOs. Please realize that I would love to be able to comment on everyones but time being what it is, I had to make a choice. Love to you all, Raffie
I was thinking it is a shame there are so many awful people in it portrayed as leaders and heroes. Only 6 females too. So what is Osama doing leading his people to Egypt like some sort of prophet? Or sending the Jews back to Egypt? It is no great work of art and maybe it is just a mural of famous faces that most people have heard of. I dont think they are trying to make a statement it is just a decoration. It reminds me of pub pictures, you know, dogs playing cards sort of thing. Or those Russian propaganda murals about driving tractors!
HAd the same thought. Why would anyone put Marlun Monroe as an influencial person.
Well, for a dork you do such beautiful work!

Hi Carma!!!:hug::hug::yippee::yippee::yippee: CARMA, HI FROM ME TOO!

My preferred poison for headaches is panadol, coke and a block of chocolate!
:tup::tup:
I drink Ginger Licquer (eesh sp) for a sinus, lol
:tup::tup:
Whenever I got a really bad head cold/sinus infection/bronchitis Shawn would get me butterscotch schnapps.....cleared everything up really fast....
:tup::tup:
So, lets see, in a blender I add coke, a block of chocolate, Ginger Liquore and butterscotch schnapps, do I add ice.........................bet it tastes good but knocks you on your A**........well, atleast you don't feel the headache!

CONGRATS!
Maybe Mars should tell him to finish the Bathroom.
Good one Cathiemarie, Thanks for sharing!

This is SO cool -- what a good guy you have!! My DH knows all of my IRL friends plus scampy -- what do you call a virtual IRL friend? We need to coin a new word for online friends who are SO much more than virtual friends and/or are online friends that we have met IRL. Wait....I think I may be giving myself a headache. :worried:

Wait.....did we ever actually need PROOF of that??
Off to work on the scholarship foundation -- but with a much lighter spirit. Our last general meeting was last night and I am now Madame Outgoing President. :yahoo: The two young women who are taking over the two top jobs want to do it and will be absolutely wonderful -- I can hardly wait to see how the foundation grows under their watch. They occasionally slip and say, "We hope we still have your passion and energy when we're...." and then they :o :love2: . Age-wise, they're about halfway between my oldest grandchild and my own children -- I love them!! And I told them last night not to worry -- the fire is still in the belly -- it just wants to be directed in a different way. LIKE HOBBIES!!!!!!!!!
So...six more weeks of work and I get to be the wonderful secretary instead of the leader of the pack. If nothing else, everyone will have to quit calling me "El Hefe." They think they're hilarious and all I can think of -- having been raised around cattle -- is HEIFER!! :annoyed:

The only thing is I can't see it showing up in the hall of fame anymore .... The 1st time I clicked the link in the email it went straight to the HOF Gallery but when I clicked the link in my post to see where it would take me it went to my gallery. I then had a look in the HOF gallery and can't see it
Am I going crazy or can anyone else see it in the HOF ... I may have to refresh my broweser.

I confess that I have all of the signatures turned off so can't see what you already have. :o But, muma and bendi, if you haven't added these, you might want them.

That's funny. Too bad you didn't have Mars tell him he needed to have a layout of a completed bathroom done by next new member chat.
Two gorgeous gals!

Suz:  :love1:  I am so sorry to read about your precious pet.
I read backwards and tried to catch up on all the news. I got the word today that my back surgery is scheduled for June 10. I am not looking forward to the day, but wish it would come and go quickly. My nerves are already getting frayed around the edges. I am just not able to scrap or anything right now.
I will be lurking and reading. :love1::hug::yahoo:------

Do you downsize them first ??
No as I wanted them to be printable/scrappable quality. Some have been cropped but are still big. I have 96% used up space until next month. I will put them on facebook some time but they will be a lot smaller.

:worried:
What was that? Butterscotch schnapps? ;)
I followed that, but then I taught K-6th grade and they talk like that.
The OD has REALLY liked all of my Granny friends when we met IRL. COnsidering that when I first went online with a local multi-line Bulletin Board System (pre-Internet) it was a "them or me" stand off. His co-workers convinced him that EVERYONE online played around. Now he will ask what I hear from this or that Granny we have met.
So...WW...when are ya coming over???

Hello sweet grannies! I'm finally to the point where I can post without sobbing over the dog. My gawd that was hard!
It is never easy but bless you for thinking about your daughter. I came home for Christmas from college one year and the dog, 12 years with us, was just gone. My brother was about 8, and also just came home from school to find Pepsi was gone. To this day we talk about how we wish Mom and Dad had let us know and at least say good-bye. It feels unfinished to this day.

Same thing with me when I came home from college the Christmas of my freshman year. My boxer Amber had been my lifeline from the time she was put in my arms when I was five years old. To make it even worse, I was so busy talking about school and my important 18-year-old self that I didn't even realize she hadn't run right up to me. Will never forgive myself for that. Know my mother was trying to spare me...I tried to do the same thing for my kids when their 8-month-old dog was hit by a car. Wish I had know then what I know now. :(
