Leslie, you are totally psychic! I just came in to see where to get a card and here you are with the answer before I even asked the question!! Now, that is a granny who knows it all!! :love3::love3:

I think I picked up that *totally* word from Jake! He uses it a lot and I'm finding myself doing the same! We were looking at his vacation photos from last year when he saw the one of himself and his brother with the huge white and yellow anaconda around them. He flipped saying his mother would *totally freak out* when she saw it - I guess he doesn't remember that she is the one who took the picture! Then he snuck up on me one day in the kitchen but I heard him coming and turned around at the last minute scaring him instead! He yelled so loud that I *totally scared his pants off*!! Everything is *totally* with him! Man, I love that boy!!

007: I'm not actually a granny, I'm a Wise Woman.

*snigger*

What am I doing while waiting for my bingo?

Just put away the colesonline grocery order that arrived, took OFF the blue jeans and put the trackydacks back on, told the cats to come OUT of the cupboard where they all hid from the colesonline truck, took OUT the contacts and put the house glasses back on...

Am starving, will go and get early lunch ready to have during bingo. Tuna fish sandwich and a cup of tomato soup.

Oh that little popcorn man is making me hungry for some popcorn from the popcorn shop but it is already closed today! Oh tarter sauce! We have a local popcorn shop that is like the Baskin-Robbins of the popcorn world. I don't even know how many flavors they have, but my very favorite is Vanilla Buttercream!! Yum!! It is kind of light yellowish in color but it is easy to change the color. So they make a mix of red and plain for V-day and pastel colors for Easter and so forth. They even make a mix of many bright colors and call it jelly bean popcorn! Love it all! Oh, here, I didn't realize that they had a website - Great Lake Popcorn Company (http://www.greatlakespopcorn.com/):tup: They even have walleye flavored which I refuse to try! Yuck!!!

I'm waiting for my http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd317/JakesNana/pregnant.png friend Impy to get back from VBS and call me.

I received an email from Helene today that I asked if I could share:

Vic is getting stronger, but still rests quite alot in the daytime. His weight seems to be stable at a dry weight of 30 pounds less then he was when he went into hospital a month ago. The cardiologist has decreased his diurethics by 2/3 now, which is good. We see him again on July 13 th, and the diabetic specialist on July 21. His blood sugars have been good since comming home from the hospital. He is getting his appetite back, and can eat most everything as long as it is low salt and low fluid. He is restricted to 1500 mg sodium/day and 1500 ml fluid. We have conversion charts for the fruits, as some contain more liquid than others.
Hopefully, he will get stronger and get some measure of enjoyment in life again. We are so grateful all of the prayers and support. God has worked a miracle of healing in his body.
Helene

and

Go ahead and share with the Grannies at DSP. We went to DD for father\'s day on Saturady and to DS\'s on sunday for a steak bbq. They both cooked salt free food for their dad. Yes, far better to watch and measure at home than in the hospital.
Thanks for all of your support and prayers.

You should SEE the expression on my face. I think it would make milk curdle!

I already have the bingo prize kit so if I win, I will be giving it away.

I am all set, lunch is on the counter, every time I get up I put something away or clean something...

Traditionally it is important that the scones be warm (ideally, freshly baked), clotted cream (not whipped), and the jam be strawberry.[/INDENT]

I put the jam on first, then whipped cream on top! We dont use clotted cream out here, whatever that is! Cream with clots? Maybe that is just a British term for whipped cream.

The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray:

'Take only ONE . God is watching.'

Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies.

A child had written a note, 'Take all you want. God is watching the apples.'

Yay!! I made it back in one piece. I'll try and catch up later. Always so muh to catch up on after a trip. I drove most of the way back from TN yesterday. My dad's house is right on the lake and with all the rain this spring we think he must have some mold in the house because my husband's allergies were really acting up this past week. As soon as we drove for a while in the car with the air on he was feeling better. And today he feels almost back to normal. I've spent the morning unpacking , then rewashing anything I washed while at my dad's to make sure there is no mold spores. So at this point after al the running up and down stairs I'm feeling a bit stinky. Other than that we had a great time. Quin love's my dad's boat. After the first ride Monday anytime the word was mentioned he'd grab his life jacket and wait by the door. I'll try an get some photo up later. And I have a bunch of pages I need to work on that I didn't do even though I had my laptop.

Welcome back !! Sounds like you had a great time except the moldy part !!

:yikes: Widowmaker is also a logging term for a large limb or broken tree top that falls when the tree is being cut down. DH was a faller for over 30 yrs... one almost did make me a widow when it hit him in the head and knocked off half his face. That's why he retired.

I just put it on my finger and dab it on the place, better way would prob be to put it on a swab and dab it on.

Thanks for all of your support and prayers.

when in Kalbarri recently I visited the Rainbow JUngle, a parrot breeding centre. It has some of the most amazing coloured parrots there and a HUGE aviary where you walk in and there are birds flying everywhere.
Here is one of the LO's of that place.

Congratulations, Kay on the Spotlight!! :yahoo:

So heartened to hear that Helene's DH is on the mend. Adding my prayers and love to them both.

Re: Vanilla Essence....is that the same thing as what we call 'Vanilla Extract' here? I've heard of using Arnica for bruising, but didn't want to put it near his eye. We just washed it with baby shampoo to clean it, then applied the ice. Our Vanilla Extract has alcohol in it, so I'm not sure if it would be safe to use near the eye either. But if 'essence' and 'extract' are one in the same, I definitely plan on using it in the less questionable areas in the future. These boys are constantly injuring themselves!

Caro & Daggs, I'm sorry to hear about your puppy woes. Daggs, I'm sure she'll forgive you once the collar comes off. I know a steak dinner would win me over! ;)

I am jumping on the 'cleaning' wagon today. Hubby will be stopping in tomorrow just long enough to get his prescription refills and take all of his personal effects out of his truck. Since this company can't see fit to make sure he has quality, RESTFUL time at home on a regular basis, even after 2 years of service, he's decided he's going to start calling around at other trucking companies until he finds one that does. It may mean a bit of a reduction in pay, but it'll be worth it for all of our well-beings in the end. We've never really been the type to attempt to live beyond our means anyway, so we should still be okay in the long run.

I'll be back when I can. My love to you all!!

Clotted Cream, Devon Cream, (not whipped) a cross between cream and butter. This is the kind I buy: http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg78/MarsOlson/SillyStuff/Food/DEVONCREAM.gif

Cream tea, composed of scones, clotted cream and jam.

They have an isle for foreign foods in our grocery store, but they do not have anything like this. It looks like it would resemble mayo in color and texture. I cannot eat mayo because I cannot get past the appearance and texture. It just grosses me out --- it looks like something that should be coming out of a pimple instead of being spread on a sandwich.

I love you, too, MamaPQ!! :love1:

So far I have gotten zilch done on the house...got sidetracked on FB with my farms.

BUT, Rhyan got her room picked up and vaccumed, and hopefully Doug (the handy-man that works for Robert -- who owns my house) will be here soon to see if he can fix my leaking shower. He owes me for the two times I've taken good care of his 7 month old Great Dane when it has wandered here to play with the kids. I have no idea where they live, but it takes Doug about 5 minutes to DRIVE here, so it's gotta be a pretty good haul, even for a 7 month old Great Dane with legs longer than mine! He's a hoot though. I got a couple of pics of him on my phone from the 1st time he came to visit us, and I had to coerce him into the van to keep him here until Doug could come get him. He drooled all over my van, and took up the entire middle seat, leaving Rhyan to sit on the floor. Morgan wants one now. Brewster stands as tall as Morgan on all 4's...no WAY are we getting one until the boys are a bit bigger, although a Great Dane is an ideal dog for my rough-and-tumble Morgan to have!

LOL LOL oh dear... devon cream is not like mayo at all. It's just in the regular dairy aisle with the butter and yogurt and cream cheese etc. It's sweetish like cream but not thick like mayo... it runs a little. It's not just for scones. It's kinda like whipped cream but not as sweet or fluffy.

Like pus? I tried to write that once by calling something that had a lot of pus .... -----, but DSP thought I said ----- instead! Miaow!!!!

I made it! I hiked 2.5 miles this morning - mostly without any significant pain and sometimes with no pain at all. I wore my orthopedic New Balance shoes with rollbars in them and added $40 insoles. I'm hoping this is a sign that new orthotics are really going to help.

LOL LOL oh dear... devon cream is not like mayo at all. It's just in the regular dairy aisle with the butter and yogurt and cream cheese etc. It's sweetish like cream but not thick like mayo... it runs a little. It's not just for scones. It's kinda like whipped cream but not as sweet or fluffy.

https://www.colesonline.com.au/wcsstore/ConsumerDirectStorefrontAssetStore/images/catalog/dc/e3/6608206.jpg
This is our MOST expensive cream at $4.13 for only 200 mls! YUMMO! Wish I had some right now, to put on hot scones.

Oh my gosh, I love thickened cream. I make tortellini all panna, and use it in that too.

I just buy ordinary thick cream though at half the price. I get some every time I shop.

I'm barely home, incredibly behind in everything and have gone through just a few of the 750+ pictures that were taken over the past 4½ days.

Here's a sample of Baby Teagan, at 53 hours, 3 days and 3½ days.

Teagan 3 days B (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/../gallery/showphoto.php?photo=323008&ppuser=34323)

Cute story: When my son was just a few days old, we had him outside in front of our apartment in Chicago. A neighbor walked by and make the statement that he was sure we would NOT have had that baby outside if he had been a girl!

The third pic of Teagan (3 days B) is proof-positive that our family does equal-opportunity nature. She's down at the creek with all the rest of the family!! :D

You made me laugh out loud! (BTW - my tools are pink. I had hoped the color would deter the men in the house from using them, but it did not).

Isn't it a HOOT to see the guys with our feminine tool products! You know, Giancarlo laughed when he first saw my gorgeous tool kit - but it's the one he always uses. :D

Maybe they should make one in a pretty powder blue. :) Great gift idea for the big strong men in your life.

Yep. :D

He called me from a payphone all cross that he had been there for 4 hours and couln't get into his room for another couple. He's not keen on his room mate and he wanted me to activate global roaming on his phone. So I did.

He then called me on it. - He should run it out of credit in less than a week, I'd say.

They are 9 hours behind so it's nearly 2am there. He starts playing on Tuesday. It's the opening ceremony later today. They wear their green and gold blazers and ties... :drumroll:

I have NO idea how many pages behind I am at this point...I never meant to be gone so long. It has been really hot out, finally, so the family gets here around 10 AM and have been camping out at the pool until 9 or so at night for the last 4 or 5 days. Grammy can't just disappear and hit the computer.

Gabby has been allowed (by me) to have some neighborhood children over, too, so it has been noisy and crazy all day every day. I love it!!!

Ok...I have an hour or so to try and catch up but I see that we are welcoming JaeDee back home and hopefully, getting all better.

That is a HUGE cappa!!!

Yepsies. :D

I just measured the capacity and it holds 240 mls - just under a cup.

It makes about one a half or the equivalent to a muggaccino... I used to make two normal cups every morning, but that cappuccino maker has to be cleaned after every use, so now I just make the one in a bigger coffee cup. My sister gave it me and it's Royal Doulton - gees I enjoy using it every morning.

Hi LL!! You are such a loving granny! Gabby must feel like such a little princess at your house! :love3::love3:

And now I'll leave y'all alone and go back to my scrapping!
But first here is a little cute funny!

Male Bashing

Q. What did God say after creating Adam? A. I must be able to do better than that.

Q. How do you get a man to do sit-ups? A. Put the remote control between his toes.

Q. What do you call a woman who knows where her husband is every night? A. A widow.

Q. Why does it take 1 million sp*rm cells to fertilize one egg? A. They won't stop to ask for directions.

Q. How are men and parking spots alike? A. Good ones are always taken. Free ones are mostly handicapped or extremely small.

Q. What is the one thing that all men at single bars have in common? A. They are all married.

Leslie - You are such a delight! I just love hearing of your simple pleasures and the intense joy you get from them! You are like a fresh, light breeze - one that sometimes is barely noticed but always so welcome and refreshing!

You just MADE my afternoon - and you really "get" me. I'm going to go and get a half inch of cherry brandy in one of my good tea cups now. :love3:

I'm barely home, incredibly behind in everything and have gone through just a few of the 750+ pictures that were taken over the past 4½ days.

Here's a sample of Baby Teagan, at 53 hours, 3 days and 3½ days.

http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/../gallery/data/500/thumbs/GrandmaCrys_s_Teagan-2-days.jpg (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/../gallery/showphoto.php?photo=323007&ppuser=34323)
Teagan 2 days (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/../gallery/showphoto.php?photo=323007&ppuser=34323)

Teagan 3 days A (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/../gallery/showphoto.php?photo=323009&ppuser=34323)

http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/../gallery/data/500/thumbs/GrandmaCrys_s_Teagan-3-days-B.jpg (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/../gallery/showphoto.php?photo=323008&ppuser=34323)

Awww Crys..she is soooo cute !! Only 750 ?? How did you contain yourself ??:rofl:

So remember what it was like to be a kid and be sooooo stinkin' excited. I kid you not, at one point, I looked over at my son and he was flip flopping all over the couch. He had his arms by his sides and had an extreme fish out of water thing going on. I also noted that he now has perfected launching himself from the middle of the greatroom, tucking his chin, and completing a full summersalt MIDAIR before he lands on his back on the couch. I'm trying so hard to appreciate his excitement. It really is sad that adults just don't get that excited anymore. Although, we would look awfully silly.

Do your boobs hang low, do they wobble to and fro, can you tie them in a knot, can you tie them in a bow, can you throw them over your shoulder like a regimental soldier, do your boobs hang low!!

DH and I just started a kitchen renovation project yesterday! We are replacing our 30+ year old (harvest gold) laminate countertop! Right now I'm still unloading kitchen cabinets so DH can repaint them. Originally they were very dark, and the kitchen faces north so the room was really dark. About 15 years ago, DH painted the cabinets in a creamy white color...but they are needing it again. We plan to stay with the off-white color. The new countertop and backsplash will be in ceramic tile. It will be a Lot of Work, but it will be lovely I'm sure.

Dags and I went to see a comedy show this afternoon called "Busting Out" - It was hilarious - the show was about 2 middle aged overweight woman with big saggy bo.bs which they exposed to the public for nearly two hours - they managed some wonderful and imaginative tricks with them and had the whole audience in stitches!!

One of the late-night shows one time was about a troop of MEN who did tricks with part of their anatomy that doesn't usually show up on stage. Sure makes the Chippendales seem tame.

By the way, the Chippendales were appearing at the MGM Grand Casino in Detroit recently. An advertisement came to my email with another start-of-summer feature...a "naughty schoolgirl contest". Boggles the imagination.

Hi again
Well, you know that old saying, "Careful what you wish for?" Trust me, please be careful what you wish for
We signed the papers on the house Friday the 19th, got the keys, and then the nightmare began.
We had 1 week to get out of old and in to new. Sounds reasonable, but it ain't that easy.
And the worse part was, no cable/internet/tv for a week. I had no escape!!! :yikes:

Brian and I came last Sunday and brought the 3 youngest fur babies. They adapted well. They loved the new home. Tuesday, we brought over the two middle babes, Tila and Beauty, and they didn't do so well. Beauty spent two days under the dinning room hutch and Tila hissed a batted anything within range, including her own shadow. Thursday, we brought over the two old men, Smokey and lil Bit. Lil Bit crawled under the covers of my bed and refuses to come out and Smokey has taken up residence on top of my kitchen cupboard.

Oh and Jake the poor dog of the bunch is enjoying his new "no stairs to climb house and fenced in shady backyard". He loves it.

The house is about 80%done, I was non-stop all week. We have one spare bedroom and right now it is the catch all. It caught all the stuff I had no clue where to put just yet. It really isn't that bad, but it has been one ruff and tuff week.

The fun part is, this Tuesday I leave to go to New York to visit with my grand babies for two weeks!!! :yippee::yippee::yippee: Yes camera and two extra cards going with!!

YES, I guess that was part of the "gallery upgrades"..

But, I'm not so sure I like it..

I get an email when some one comments..

and, now, I also get it into my favourites too...

before "my favourites" just had either special things someone wanted to add to my layout or some one was adding my layout to "their favourites" which was a compliment...

Now, I have to go in and remove the "comments" ....

I don't quite understand this upgrade at all..

I think it is time for bed. I am bone weary. We spent countless hours studying for the learner's permit test and we have been driving for one hour per day in the huge parking lot at the church. (We did not drive today, but we have driven every other day).

We could not drive today because:
Have you seen Suzanne's challenge? To journal regularly and record summer memories - not the big, giant events, but the moments. Here is the link:

http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38682

In the interest of journaling I asked Andrew, "What have you always wanted to learn to do?"
He said, "Play the guitar."
So I found Ryan's old guitar in the basement, took it to the music store to have the strings replaced, and signed him up for guitar lessons.

Now I must rest.

PQ, You are the best mom I know!

I am a hot date this evening! My sister is going to a dinner at the club we work at, as she has been there 5 years and they put on a dinner for the person and a guest. So she is taking me!

What a wonderful, thoughtful sister!

Oh I see we are talking food again lol.
I have been missing for awhile as I try to handle life and all it throws at you. I was letting things pile up and I just had to face them and deal with them. Scrapping unfortunately had to take a back seat at least temporarily. I have been busy caring for mom and planting a very large yard. The weather has been less than great however. I am trying to also get back into photography and hone my skills.
My 22 year old niece was killed in a single vehicle rollover at the beginning of June and my brother is devastated. She was graduating as a pastry chef and had the world in front of her. Hug your kids because you just never know what could happen.
Congrats to all the grannies who entered the Scrappies and to those who were nominated or won. What a lot of talent at DSP.
I am sure I have missed tons of good news and tidbits of laughter. I will try to check in more often.

Here are two layouts I mangaed to complete.
This is my son at age 10 and age 29. Can you see the resemblance?

Oh, Heather, I'm so sorry. What a horrid loss to your family.

Just got home about 30 minues ago....Shawn and I went to the bookstore this evening...
he got his Robotics magazine and then we went and saw Transformers ........
He can now move his left leg and foot in and out of the car. He can move his right leg more and can get his foot in the car much easier now !!!! His right foot is going to be a problem for a while and may never be more than 50% functional but he is moving it .....
H e did really good wheeling himself around in the bookstore . When he got out of the car at the bookstore he had already wheeled himself up to the door before I had the trunk closed......

   Thank Heaven for little improvements!

Hi Crys,

There is a drop down on the top right called Photo Options. Under there, you can add to favourites, post a comment, edit the layout, report it, etc.

Not only that, but My Messages (right under "My Gallery") has all the comments people have made on your layouts, plus anyone who has added you to their favourites... AND... this is my favourite part...

If you add someone as your buddy - you get notified when they have created a new layout!!

To add someone as a buddy, you have to go into their profile IN THE GALLERY. At the bottom of the list on left is Add them to Buddy List. If you click on this, it will add them to your buddy list and you will start getting notification of their layouts - this is my FAVOURITE new feature. I love that it is all in one place. (Buddy lists are not the same as Friends or Contacts, though.)

This upgrade ROCKS!
