Do any of you know Katie2004? She has participated in PAD for years, she had been doing Inspiration and Support for a couple of months..........she recently uploaded a series of layouts about her family and honeymoon. Spurring any memories? Anyway, I just got a PM from her - she did not participate in CIJ because her husband passed away. I thought some of you might know her and want to send condolences.

How sad, PQ! Thanks for letting us know.

DGD just finished her last swim so you will be relieved to know that my swim obsession is almost over. Of course swim layouts lie in your future. :love2:

Oh, BTW, did I mention that her 400m Medley Relay Team just won gold? :yahoo::yahoo: That gives her individual bronze, individual silver, and a team gold. Plus the entire club team took 1st in boys' division, girls' division, and overall points. Some happy kids and coaches and parents at that pool right now. :yahoo:

We watched online today and I got fantastic video. Because her team was in first place when she made the dive for breast, the underwater cameras had her in focus for about 15 strokes. I can't wait to burn that whole race for the relay team. These four girls are good friends -- and what could be better than winning with your girlfriends? :love3:

That reminds me to warn any of you who are using a recording program on the computer. I wanted to be at her finals last night so set the recorder before I left. I very carefully set the computer not to sleep but forgot the screensaver settings. :worried:  I have 15 minutes of someone else's kid swimming and about 2 hours of my screen saver. I got the audio, though, and her name was used throughout because it was such a close race -- my favorite was, "And Caitlin --- continues to set a BLISTERING pace."

Anyway, an exciting meet -- very successful for DGD overall -- and I thank all of you so VERY much for your patience with my posts. I am NOT a sports fan but this meet was important to DGD on many, many different levels and that made it important to me. You are all dear for being excited with me.

Acacia asked what her times were for the 1500 and the Breast and what else she swam? Acacia said she hopes they both make Nationals on the same year..... (then we can meet too!!)

Wouldn't that be funny? (Think she's 3 sec short of her first national time in breast.) Don't know the 1500 time so let's just guess really slow. Her least favorite event. :D (Is that what Acacia swims? WOW!)

We normally don't keep track so don't know if these are her best times but times for this meet's finals:
100 breast--1:17.__
200 breast--2:43.__
200 IM--2:34.13 (backstroke time always gets her)
400 Medley Relay team time--4:41.16

Oh Vallie.... DH and I were talking about coming to Aus next year. His aunt lives in Sydney and his brother will be in Brisbane.... and of course I said to him that if we are thinking of settling there, then we need to check out Perth too, since that is where the Petrochemical plants are ;)

The poker burn on my face still looks pretty bad (despite the fact that I have been putting aloe on it 5 times per day) but I went swimming today anyway. I just hope it does not get infected - I did not go under, but there is a certain amount of splashing that is inevitable. I was so tired of hiding in this house........

We drove to Telluride right after church this morning, rode the free gondola way up the side of the mountain, had lunch, rode back down, shopped a little, and drove back home. Dont worry Jenny, that was a valid topic to discuss. And I can see what you mean!:hug::hug:

Thanks Vallie  I :love1: You!

Aw, Vicki...:hug: Bet the D&C procedure will fix you up just dandy. A friend whose mom had to have those regularly (because of family history and other health problems) used to say she was going in for a Dust and Clean. :D I think your having all those tests is a Godsend -- what you're imagining is a whole lot worse than what it will turn out to be. The worry of anticipation is just the worst, I think -- once you know whaqt you need to fight or fix or adjust to, it's easier somehow. It will all turn out good -- you have the red threads!!!!!! :love3:

What Omi Said Vicki! Thinking of you & sending up prayers!:hug::hug:

PQ - I saw several videos on You Tube about the healing and restorative powers of Neosporin! In fact, a guy grew back the tip of his finger using it. Maybe it will help to heal with no scar or at least very slight scar. Worth a try. :love3:

Jake is sleeping over tonight. We were watching firetrucks on You Tube when Crys said hi on yahoo. We talked a minute and then I told her Jake was here. He saw his name pop up on the screen and wanted to know if she knew him! Can't slip anything in on that kid! So after we got off, we had to go to the gallery and see all her little boys. Then he had a great idea!! Maybe THEY can be my cousins too!! Then I would have lots of cousins! I don't know why he is so obsessed with cousins lately but he is! BTW - he loves your cute little boys Grandma Crys!!

I just do vitamen E oil squeezed from a capsule. It's my one thing I use for burns, cuts, stictches to the face.... It's all I have used for years now on me and on the boys. For severe things we use it several times a day to promote healing and reduce scarring.

I burnt my wrist and thumb last week on hot oil. I didnt put anything on it, no bandage, no ointment, held my hand under cold running water for a few minutes. It is slowly healing but taking longer in the middle of a big burn. I knocked it at work the other night and it bled a little. But it is closing up again. Hoping in another week the skin will have closed over. It doesnt look infected but is a little tender. I didnt want to put bandaids on it as I wear rubber gloves at work all the time and my hands still get soggy, and the bandaids would make it stay wet. I suppose I really should have got something from the chemist for it.

A few years ago I came home for lunch to check on a furniture delivery...went to my mom's next door and nuked one of her spaghetti lunch buckets. Anyway popped the top right away and hot tomato sauce went all over my right thumb and wrist area (oh and the smoke alarm went off also ) by the time i got back to work my hand was hurting really bad and hurt to even move it. The podiatrist i was working for gave me Silvadene cream and wrapped the hand in guaze...
he told me to put the cream on every 2 hours and keep the hand loosley wrapped...this was on a friday and by monday could hardly tell i had done anything...no pain, scars etc...oh and keep hand elevated as much as possible

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

woohoo sands is coming to Perth and I sure hope its not when I am off traveling mid sept/October next yr

Nope not sure yet when, still just planting the seeds :)

Well, ladies, I'm off to try to get a good night's sleep....

because tomorrow I officially begin.....

my first Trendsetters contest.

I refuse to open my PM until AFTER my first cup of coffee in the morning!!! >>insert Kay's biting-nails smiley here<<

See y'all tomorrow!!! :love1:

Good Luck to you and all the other Grannies that have entered Trendsetters....

I burnt my wrist and thumb last week

Oh Vallie that sounds really sore. I've been using Bio Oil on Connor's eye after his cut, and its almost gone now....

Anyone out there haveing the same problems as I am. I have suddenly found that I am going blind, OR I have a gremlin in my system.

Meredith, can you go up to View on the Menu bar up the top of the page, go to text size, and see what size it is on? Mine is set to Medium. Hope this helps. :)

Or you can just press the CTL and ] key together to increase it!

No - No help and cntrl ] does not work either. It is only effecting Internet Explorer, also facebook, and my husband found on the National banks site a message on how to alter the type size, but we are unable to do it anywhere else. On DSP I can hardly read the type it is so small.:help::help:

You poor soul! I hope it can get sorted out quickly!

Meredith--out of the answers that are in the link that Leslie posted, this is the one that we use at work:

Right click on your desktop, selects PROPERTIES, hit the SETTINGS tab and change the screen resolution size with the slider to the one you were using previously or to whichever position you prefer the look of. It gives you the option to keep or discard settings so dont keep until happy

I'm on a Mac at home now, so couldn't work it through to tell you myself!

Today's the Day! The old kitchen sink and countertop are coming out! I have a feeling that this will be the "interesting" part of this kitchen re-do. So far, we've been able to cook and run the dishwasher. The dishwasher will also have to come out because the countertop is bolted to the dishwasher. DH says he thinks I will be able to do dishes every couple of days.

I am also doing Trendsetters! I figure, worth a shot, right? And if nothing else - two great kits to play with!

 :think:You know what?? I like your attitude. I'm going to attempt to adopt it. (right after my 2nd cup of coffee! :worried: ) If it gets tooo bad, will you hold my hand????  :love2:

The guy who burned me specifically said not to use Neosporin - he said when it is used for more than a few days it can cause a nasty rash.

I just do vitamen E oil squeezed from a capsule. It's my one thing I use for burns, cuts, stictches to the face.... It's all I have used for years now on me and on the boys. For severe things we use it several times a day to promote healing and reduce scarring.

This is what I was going to suggest, PQ. This is the ONLY thing, besides iced water, that I use for heat burns. Usually on myself . I'm not the most safety-concience cook, especially when dealing with the oven!

I also keep Solarcaine around and Bactine. I usually use the Solarcaine on the kids if they've outlasted their sunscreen. Especially the boys, since their necks are always exposed. Sometimes after they come in for the day and get their showers, they'll complain that their skin is 'stinging', so I spray a bit on and it makes them feel better. I've always preferred Bactine to Neosporin just for the simple fact that it's an on-the-go product AND, more for nostalgic reasons, I remember mom using it on me when I was Morgan's age. :p Neosporin, even the spray stuff, tends to ATTRACT dirt to it, and as my kids refuse to keep a bandaid on for more than 48.2 seconds, I prefer Bactine spray, as it dries well and doesn't leave anything sticky on the skin.

And THAT, ladies, is MY $0.02 (because I don't know how to do the cents sign!)

See above! :D

:yahoo: :yahoo: Or you could use Redneck China, and if you have a patio fireplace just burn it when you're done and have S'mores for dessert! no dishes!

Good luck with the remodel!

I was on Facebook earlier and Jake saw Daggie's Universe layout. After looking at it closely and examining it, he decided that HE wanted to go to that playground and play with those kids!! He's so funny! He actually LIKES looking at layouts with other kids in them to see what they are playing and what kind of toys they have and so forth. He really needs to get back to school; he's way too social to be without other kids for so long.

Me too!!! :D

Me too Debi but then I started spotting a little occasionally. Today when I went for my regular monthly visit to the doctor, I had gained 15 pounds!! I freaked!! I said that I didn't know how that could happen unless I was bloated from this period I'm having. He said I didn't really *gain* 15 pounds, that he needed to check out my heart for congestive heart failure but then he wanted to know more about the period. I told him and again he said that it's not *real* but is a sign to get my uterus checked for cancer. Yikes! That scared me of course! So I go in a few weeks to have some test involving a type of D&C. I go for an echo-cardiogram tomorrow morning and an EKG Monday. Guess these two things put my pain in my legs and hips into a whole new perspective! Oh well, we will just have to see what God has planned! Prayers appreciated!

The Snake is coming over AGAIN this afternoon to show Lisa how to grill out. They are making Beer-Can Chicken! My brother-in-law makes it and says its really good so we'll see. DH (not dear, but not damn either, so what's in the middle??) has been really nice for the last month or two. He is a little hard to resist when he's being so nice; I mean I did love him once so there must be something good there. I know he really misses the kids too - now that they have pretty much settled down and are adults - now that the hard part is over! They don't need very much intervention anymore, they just kind of do their own thing. Lisa still asks when she's going out of town or something and she usually gives me a general idea of where she's going when she stays in town.

So anyway, this should be fun (interesting). I know he wants to move back home too and we are talking a little about it. He's concerned about Phillip moving away this semester but Phil has decided to stay here one more semester. He can still go to the branch and just go to the main campus once a week for a class. Its only about an hour to main campus so that should work out really nice. It sure is a lot cheaper at the branch campus! So I'm not sure about the living arrangements with Mike. His lease is almost up where he lives now and he said he would prefer to live with us but will get an efficiency or something if not. It sure would help us to have his help and his money but I'm just so afraid of him ditching again right when we get used to it and comfortable again. So, what to do, what to do??

Yeah I know... I bought them too, but with my money being in the form of a GC, I had to wait for the store to release them for me to DL :D.

Each month I purchase a few GC's instead of using my CC for small amounts ;)

I do that very thing! So much better than those pesky small amounts on the credit card, or daily, tiny entries in my checkbook for any ole DH to see! :D

I can't believe I hit a milestone....1000 posts so says my avi...did it without even realizing....only took me 3 yrs.

Hang with the grannies daily and your count will double in no time!

So, here is how my morning went. UP at the 'Crack of Dawn' to get Alicia to the Final Dive meet of the season. It was the League Championship but with Nationals being the same weekend, there weren't as many girls as usual. It went really 'funky' as 2 girls that are better divers than she is both failed dives and 2 divers that aren't as good as her beat her (the judging was wierd). She came out in 5th place but didn't seem to care one way or the other. Her closest friend on the team took second and her other friend took 9th so it was a decent showing for the team.

Monday my DDs all are off to dance camp. We were not going to send them this year (no money to spare) and when I let the director know this, she said " it wouldn't be dance camp without the Raffle sisters" (this is Andrea's 10th year) and she wanted them to come no matter what. She said to consider it her way of saying thank you for all the work I have done for her over the years. I am just so thankful that they will get to go.

Now for the bad news, MY CAMERA IS ACTING UP!!!! I have to take it to the camera shop and see if it just needs a cleaning or if I have to send it into Olympus for a tune up. I am so worried ---- I will take a photo and then the shutter stays 'half closed' and the viewfinder is obscured almost like a black tissue is over the lens. I take 2 or 3 shots and then it goes back to normal. Any ideas what it could be?????

How wonderful for your family, Raffie and generous of the Director. Kind of puts your faith back in humankind, doesn't it? :love1: :love1:

I love that Silvadene; too bad it's by prescription only! :(

Today's the Day! The old kitchen sink and countertop are coming out! I have a feeling that this will be the "interesting" part of this kitchen re-do. He's so funny! He actually LIKES looking at layouts with other kids in them to see what they are playing and what kind of toys they have and so forth. He really needs to get back to school; he's way too social to be without other kids for so long.

He needs to come down to the farm and play with the boys Wed-Sat!! :D

Just had to share my new DGD ... born last week (7/29)!!

http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/album.php?albumid=288&pictureid=1229

Congratulations, Pammy! You certainly have some incredibly adorable grandkids!! Get scrapping, Girl! :D

Decisions...decisions...He really needs to EARN your trust, LM!

Let me hear a loud AMEN!

We are back to hoping my DH does not experience spontaneous combusion, 'cause if he does, I am going to fan the flame.

Here is the conversation I had with Doug yesterday:
I think it would be nice if we had Joe and his wife over for dinner. I think you would really like Joe and surely his wife is nice. Me: PLEASE do not invite anyone over here until my face is healed. I do not want to meet anyone while I have a leper face.

Doug just called from work. Here is what he said:
I talked to Joe. He said he and his wife would love to come overfor dinner.

DSP needs to add a smilie that is a little woman with a hatchet.

Hey Mars - do you think Hannah could come visit us? When she comes, ask her to please bring her big, heavy wrench.

Sorry to hear you don't feel well Vallie.

I went back to school yesterday after a week at home. I still have a cough and a croaky voice but at least feel partly human now. I was certainly suffering from Monday-itis, but the thing that kept me going was the thought that it was my last Monday at work, as I finish up on Friday, ready for our move to Melbourne next week.

Yay!!

BUT and their is a BUT congratulations on your retirement and you so truly deserve all the wonderful relaxing creative years ahead of you. x0x0x0x0x0x

Ok, so when I got to the coal mine this morning here is what I found:

Broken glass in the door next to my car park and a sign saying to go around. Little thieves were hard at it at midnight last night. They used a hammer and broke into the actual front office, jimmied open a cupboard and stole fundraiser chocolates. When the alarm went off VERY loudly, and the blue light started rotating and flashing in their eyes, they got the heck out, leaving behind, on the counter, their unopened packet of chips, new large bottle of coke and one of orange juice. They also left behind a small tool box which I would so love to have.

How interesting!

:love1:

You are going to do one of your usually FANTASTIC LOs and WOW us all.

I am also doing Trendsetters! I figure, worth a shot, right? And if nothing else - two great kits to play with!

You two my dear!

I just do vitamen E oil squeezed from a capsule. It's my one thing I use for burns, cuts, stictches to the face.... It's all I have used for years now on me and on the boys. For severe things we use it several times a day to promote healing and reduce scarring.

On Friday, friends threw me a birthday dinner and Andy had a burn from the day before. They are holistic healers and when they saw Andy's burn they got out a vile of Lavender oil.....they said to apply it clockwise over the burn and he said that he felt immediate relief. They told him that if he used the oil within a few minutes of the burn, he would not have felt it the next day and would not scar!

That is wonderful Alice, congrats.

My niece put this on Facebook this morning and I thought it was pretty funny!! And TRUE!!

Last night my resident 'Y chromosome' almost drove me insane!!!! Our cable company sent new boxes for the TV. I asked him to read the directions and install it. He of course didn't read and insisted that the box must be defective because the TV no longer worked after he installed it.

Fast forward, this morning I read the directions and now we have a working TV set again.

Congrats on the new grandbaby Pammygirl :yippee:

I'm only able to read through this one page. Thank Raffie, just reading your multi quote post helped me to feel not so out of the loop.

My girlfriend who moved to China in January is in town. Tonight she gave me my very first string of real pearls. They are just lovely. They are a pale pink. I think I might just wear them to bed. I'll have to figure out how to work them into a layout. It's funny 'cause as I was standing in front of the mirror admiring the pearls, I thought, "Wow, I'll look a little more upper class at the grocery store now." We live out in the country, as long as you're not wearing your "chip" kickers into the grocery store, you are doing just fine. They really are so pretty and I don't have to worry about the finish peeling off. It would be a shame not to wear them, right??

Woodsy - pearls deteriorate if they aren't worn - they need to be worn and admired as often as possible. Thanks for mentioning yours, I will get mine out tomorrow and start wearing them again. :)

I went in to the computer store and looked at the $2500 laptop I was interested in. It comes bundled, with the Word package and the carry bag - both of which you have to pay for and I don't want.

Also, it is running Vista which will be superseded in two months by Windows 7.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7

Then I looked at the laptops on ebay and you can get a 17" screen and 4 - 8 GB of ram for a lot less. A real lot less.

I'll be holding off until I get back from my trip. :)

I'm going to bed with my quilting mystery - not that quilting is mentioned much. It's the Earline Fowler series.

Checking in so Jill EG doesn't strangle me, LOL.

I've had some med changes and they arent' agreeing with me, got rid of that one, it made me sleep round the clock, start another new one as soon as I get the energy to go to the pharmacy.

I loved all the LO's for CIJ, I missed it all :cry::cry: I'm trying to keep up in the galleries but not always feeling well enough to post. WTG Girls!!!

Take care, HUGS N PRAYERS FOR ALL,

And do they look swell with the tiara? ;)

I have told and retold Doug to please not buy jewelry...........I really prefer computer "stuff." But I have to admit, a pale pink strand of pearls sounds REALLY nice. I am so happy for you Woodsy!

They would look perfect with your tiara WW:D, you'll be the classiest chick at the grocer store for sure.

So true!

How come the smarter they are the stupider they are....
This is my conersation with Shawn this morning...
S...we're on the way to pick up id
me.....call me before you leave an before you get here
S...okay, it's gonna be awhile before we leave
me...just call me beforehand
S...okay
an hour later a call
S....we're out front
The only thing preventing me from fanning the flames here is that we are kinda in a drought....otherwise you'd be able to see the flames from outer space.....

I will help you squish Shawn if you help me squish Doug. Maybe I could send Hannah to your house after she leaves here.

Welcome Pammy! Glad you found us!

So, what to do, what to do??

Honey, if I knew the answer to that question, I'd write a book! Good luck Vicki! I will pray that God leads you in this decision.

Night all! Just back from work and I dont feel good. Throat is getting sore and tickly. Hope it isnt swine flu!

I went in to the computer store and looked at the $2500 laptop I was interested in. It comes bundled, with the Word package and the carry bag - both of which you have to pay for and I don't want.
:)

While you are looking around, think about calling the Dell store and see what building your own would cost. (You just tell them what you want to do on the computer, and they tell you what you need ). I do not know if it would be cheaper, but at least you would not pay for stuff you do not want.

They just had on the news: 4 women are in jail following an altercation at a motel. It seems a married man (married with children) was having affairs with 2 women --- 3 if you count his wife. After the wife called the 2 women and told them the bum was married and had children, they got together and plotted their revenge. One of the women called him & asked him to meet her at the motel for a "massage." Once he was undressed, she let the other 3 women in. (The extra woman was the sister of one of the 3 women). They tied him up and taunted him for hours, then they superglued a certain male part to his inner thigh. They left him hog tied in the motel room and a maid found him. I think he got off easy.

"•All pearl jewelry should be worn as often as possible as the natural luster of the finish will be embellished with the natural oils of the skin."

The above statement, which I have known about for years is from this website:

Um - can you tell I love pearls?

So I wonder what the gutter guy will think when he shows up to install the gutters and I am running around in my grubbies doing the June Cleaver routine. At least I got the pearls. Didn't June ALWAYS wear her pearls??

Fran- I saw that news article as well and laughed my behind off. Never underestimate a woman's ingenuity when it comes to revenge.

How do I get white out off skin?
Amy has just painted herself with it and its over her face and lips. Yep we think she may have swallowed some but we have been told that nothing serious will happen with such a small amount but she has it very near to her eyes, nose and on her lips so I dont want to go the "acetone, alcohol" route .... any ideas and yes I got photos.

I have a heater ON my desk blowing at me and a hot cup of tea. The staff meeting - no heating, we all shivered for 45 minutes. Is 2 degrees outside.

Poor Caro - ghastly day.

I thought perhaps Gin & Tonic but you can go with wine. I finished 2 but neither 'blow my socks off'. I sould just give up and post because I never get out of round one ever since the year I won.

Hello, This is my first post here but it won't be my last! I have 4 beautiful grandchildren that live close enough to visit regularly. I love to Scrap their pictures and I have been digital for a few months!

WELCOME VICKYZ2!!!!!!

I have told and retold Doug to please not buy jewelry...........I really prefer computer "stuff." But I have to admit, a pale pink strand of pearls sounds REALLY nice. I am so happy for you Woodsy!

So true!

I will help you squish Shawn if you help me squish Doug. Maybe I could send Hannah to your house after she leaves here.

I scrapped a little over 5 hours yesterday and DELETED every single thing I did. Unless things change and I get a burst of mojo, I will have nothing to upload for trendsetters.

So sorry you are feeling poorly Vallie. :love1: Hope you feel better soon!

What a hoot!

Welcome Pammy! Glad you found us!

Honey, if I knew the answer to that question, I'd write a book! Good luck Vicki! I will pray that God leads you in this decision.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: OMG, Thats GOT to hurt!!!:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Where is everyone? I've only been here 45 mins or so and I'm already caught up!

Atleast we can do Ho*sew**K and Laun**y!!!!!

just want to share the beautiful angel Donn's sister sent me with you all

How do I get white out off skin?
Amy has just painted herself with it and its over her face and lips. Yep we think she may have swallowed some but we have been told that nothing serious will happen with such a small amount but she has it very near to her eyes, nose and on her lips so I dont want to go the "acetone, alcohol" route .... any ideas and yes I got photos.

Wish I could help, but I don't know. I hope you got a photo or two and plan to do a page - a black and white page.

I'm glad she's going to be okay.

We had fun at Mesa Verde today. Topped off a couple of hikes with a scoop of ice cream. :-)

Tomorrow is DH's birthday and our 43rd wedding anniversary. We are going out for breakfast with Larry and Lu like we did last year except that last year we were in Newfoundland.

Very rare night tonight...my daughters and I went out on the town. THere was so much going on we never did make it out for dinner, but finally got together about 9:30 so we went to the Key West (WW and LisasMom know that place) and had appetizers, drinks, and listened to the entertainment.

But...it is quite the strain on my quiet, well-ordered life to have all 3 kids and the two granddaughters around. Hiding may be in order tomorrow.

There is a huge rock near a gravel pit on Hwy.25 in rural Iowa. For generations, kids have painted slogans, names, and obscenities on this rock, changing its character many times. A few months back, the rock received its latest paint job, and since then it has been left completely undisturbed.

It ' s quite an impressive sight. Be sure to scroll down and check out the multiple photos. (all angles) of the rock.

I thought the flag was draped over the rock, but it ' s not. It ' s actually painted on the rock too.

Yep, then you definitely got it with that lens. Its awesome! I always found that I was swapping and changing lenses all the time and by the time I got the length I wanted the moment was over.

My best purchase was the 18-200mm :)

So the discussions about visiting Aus continued last night.

Bearing in mind that Caro is travelling in Sept / October and Joan in March ;), I said to DH that if we are going to go so far we will have to take at least 4 weeks. And the only time that DD will have 4 weeks holidays is June / July next year.

I also threw in that I'd like to break up the trip by staying a few nights over in either Singapore or Hong Kong. He's agreed to that too...

I also think that luckily for me, our friend that used to dive with us here, that's returned to Aus, is now working in WA, so he's more than keen to come across to WA. The friend used to live in Humpty Doo, but is working in WA and now rents his house out in Humpty Doo.

So it looks like its gonna be June / July 2010 that we are visiting. I'm starting to look at flight prices.

June/July is cold wet (hopefully) and windy. Hundreds of our retirees travel to the north of western australia during this time where it is warmer. We are getting whales passing by these days also. Look up Exmouth on Google. Its a great place to visit. Ningaloo a little south of Exmouth also a great reef to dive on. Whale sharks are the attraction here.

This is very exciting Sands - will you be able to come to Melbourne as well??

Yep, then you definitely got it with that lens. Its awesome! I always found that I was swapping and changing lenses all the time and by the time I got the length I wanted the moment was over.

My best purchase was the 18-200mm :)

Same here sandy - i find myself swapping lens or find I have taken the wrong one. I bought the other ones for specific reasons, eg the zoom lens to get the kangaroos around here with the ability to blur the background.

Now to try it out - maybe I should photograph the dentist just before he looks in my mouth tomorrow. I am soooooooo scared of the dentist, but HAVE to go due to lost filling.

Im curious. Those of you that have a bamboo tablet, I want to know which one you've got and if it is big enough and worth spending the money. Thanks

I just got the Bamboo Craft last month. I think the "craft" differs from the others only in the software and video lessons with it.

I love mine but have to remember to use it. Extractions, for one thing, are so much easier. I would say they are worth the money, but then mine was a gift so that is easy for me to say.

Inks I'm not sure if we can throw in Melbourne. We will definitely be in Sydneys, cos that's where DH's aunt lives, and Brisbane, cos that's where DH's brother will be. We are going off to Perth to check it out, since if we are settling in Aus, that's where we will have to go for DH's work.

Aww Vallie, so sorry to hear its got worse. You be a good girl now and take your meds and look after yourself!

Fancy anyone living in a place called Humpty Doo!!

I KNOW!!!! :yikes: We didn't believe him at first, thinking he made up the name! But it really does exist and there's even a video of some raucous party going on at the Humpty Doo pub!

Apparently Humpty Doo has a mango industry which ripen before Queenslands.
It has a population of just over 5000.
Just need to see an egg sitting on a fence. .

Vallie, sorry to hear you are still so ill. Do look after yourself as it takes ages to throw off.

Hi Leslie, I still have a niggling cough but am back at work. Took my class on an excursion today so am exhausted tonight. There was the usual obligatory group of children who wanted to play up and spoil the day for everyone else. It makes me angry that we HAVE to take them when everyone knows they will be a nuisance. These days most excursions are a waste of time, IMHO!!

Leslie

Oh essee - I agree!! I agree so much, that I haven't been out on an excursion like that for years and years.

And I stopped going on camp about 10 years ago too. My colleagues come back so upset at the behaviour of some of the children...

I have the Bamboo Fun, still learning how to use it having only recently got brave enough to install it(with the help of Daggs and EB). Mine was a gift too (thanks to DSP and my BFF Ebears:D, with a bit of luck thrown into the mix). I am enjoying just playing with it at this stage:)

I have been to Humpty Doo a few times:yippee::yippee::yippee: its in the middle of croc country in the Northern Territory...very famous for its pub!!! Just ask my hubby, its got the coldest beer around, and if full of old bush blokes...the real aussies ones..dusty clothes, long drawls, cory sense of humour, navy singlet tops, with beer bellies that hang over their kinggee shorts and long brown legs that finish in dusty socks with bluntstone boots...and they look like they have been sitting on their pub stools of years. (probably have)

Sands:wave: you will never be forgiven if you don't come via Melbourne. I will be home in June/July as its the middle of our very cold winter and I never go anywhere then

I have the wacom intuos3, which I love, use mine all the time, it saves my wrists. For scrapping I would use it more than the mouse now:yippee:

Oooohhhh --- I would love to see fields of mangoes! I wouldn't mind seeing the egg on the fence either. Or maybe all the king's horses and all the king's men! When we lived in California we saw groves of oranges. (Very cool). In South Carolina you see orchards full of peaches, fields of strawberries and blackberries, and a lot of cotton. (Also very cool). In Iowa there are fields of corn and the stinch of the meat packing plant. (It smells like rotting spam. Once when we were riding by the meat packing plant on a particularly stinky day, Andrew yelled, "Pee -ewwwww!!" Then he tried to check his diaper! LOL)! And in Montana, we have amber waves of grain and a lot of corn.

In the Four Corners photo I was in NM, DH was in CO, Larry was in AZ, and Lu was in NM. Maybe. I hear that now with the fancy GPS and satellites and such they have found that where we had our photos taken really isn't the right place any more.

sorry but I still dont' know where you were??? what does NM DH CO and AZ stand for? remember I come from the land downunder
