Doug was telling me about all the poisonous "things" in Australia yesterday. His mind is full of an obscene amount of trivia. I had never heard of most of those animals. You can send your baby to stay with me while you go to Australia........don't tell her that I just heard on the news that rattlesnakes are running rampant this year and one child and one dog were recently biten. And they showed a little video clip of a bear here in town that has been eating the seed out of bird feeders. That is the second bear that has wandered into town this month. Then they showed a clip of a lady's demolished windshield. It seems an eagle dropped a huge dead fish as it was flying over her car. Wonder if the eagle said, "Oops."

Imagine explaining that to the insurance man. "A big bird dropped a fish on my car!":rofl::rofl:

When Crys Shouts does it mean you're in trouble?

Alex just asked me why I was laughing. I told him about Tristan's first day of school and the first question he asked when he got home. Alex starts Kindergarten in two weeks , he's getting excited but he said he wouldn't ask that question when he got home. We'll see.

Okay, I just created magic list #2 to cover all of the most recent hurts and illnesses. Remind all involved that no one is allowed to screw up omio's magic lists. :annoyed: If in doubt, see Kay. :p

In all seriousness, everyone from old to infant has been added to my own prayer list. So much sadness in the thread right now.

Is this done through iTunes? Is it like uploading applications? Do you buy the seasons of a show? Inquiring minds.....

Make that 3 bears --- they just showed a clip of a bear swimming in somebody's pool. (If a bear was in our pool, I would not be video taping it. I would be calling 911). All the bears have been on the west end. We are on the west end. I do not want to see a bear.

I believe the swimming pool bear you saw is the one in SoCal. He had a snack out of the garbage cans and then went for a lovely swim. Most people in the neighborhood seemed amused but others were very upset. Always interesting in Southern California -- people build homes right up to wildnerness areas and then are surprised when they get critters in the yard.

In our old house, rattlesnakes and other animals used to come down for drinks from our swimming pool. Everyone in the neighborhood just knew not to let their dogs and cats out at night. Well, they either knew or learned very quickly!!

Our current house is a few blocks away from a wild area -- always pleasant to go to sleep hearing a pack of coyotes killing rabbits. We're about 5 streets into the subdivision but we saw a coyote walking down the street a couple of weeks ago. The drought is causing real desperation among the poor wildlife.

I just received a phone call from my little sister. Her pregnant DDIL went to the hospital last Monday for pre eclampsia issues. Her BP got to acceptable levels and she was sent home. She went again last night because she completely lost her vision. So, they took the baby this morning. They had a 5 lb 11 oz baby girl, Caleigh Nicole, 18½". She is currently being moved to Riley Childrens Hospital because she is in distress. They think it's her lungs and at this point in time, it's more precaution than anything. But they both do need our prayers. (Mommy's vision has returned, but she is not to be doing much moving due to the magnesium she was given.)

Caleigh (they're pronouncing it with a *soft a*) is the baby sister of Adreyan, who will be 1 yr. old on the 26th of this month! :yikes: :yikes: The cousin to Nicholas and A.J. She makes the 3rd girl in their generation of our family, vs. 7 boys.

Wouldn't that make for some hilarious Christmas photos this year. 10 kids 6 and under!    I doubt it will happen, though, as my brother who moved to WA was the only one to have a house that would hold our brood!     And the 22 (12 adults and the 10 kids) will sure as heck NOT be traveling to WA!!

Lots of prayers and quick recovery wishes headed their way!

So, Tristan started school yesterday. :( (They always seem to grow up so fast at this point!) Yup, he's a kindergartener! And a bus rider! I called Mommy yesterday morning and asked if she had trouble putting him on the bus. "Nope! He was so excited to go he was practically beside himself." :yahoo: Even woke up on his own! (A very rare occurrence for him.)

Tristan called me last night to recount his day. Apparently the highlights were 1) the see-saws at recess and the fact that he got to play on them; and 2) they went to the Music room where *people* played some instruments for them. One in particular, which was wood and metal was especially great! He had no idea who these people were, but they were getting ready for the football game. (I'm guessg the marching band.)

He met lots of kids, but has not made friends yet. They haven't started to get smart yet either. He glossed right over lunch when asked about that. And he was very excited to know he got to go back the next day and the day after that. Sat. and Sun. were apparently kind of *bummer* days.

His mother took lots of pictures, both going and coming home. So, sometime in the future, I'll get my hands on those. She said she got some particularly cute ones of Rutker and his binocs, looking down the road for the bus, as they were waiting for Tristan to come home.

The first words out of Tristan's mouth when he got home: "Did Rutker touch any of my stuff?" Oh! The things that are important.

Tucker & Rhyan were pretty stoked when they got home, too. First words out of Tucker's mouth were "*heavy sigh* Mom? Why can't school be just a LITTLE BIT longer?" They loved the bus, with all the hills and swervy roads, too! Oh, and Rhyan's already managed to lock herself out of her own locker. All I heard from Morgan all day was "I miss Tucker/Rhyan" and "Can't I go to school NOW????"

Sounds like Tristan's a natural! Can't wait to hear more school antics as the year goes by! :p

Happy Birthday Leslie!!!

This morning was such a delight meeting up with LL and Woodsy. Woodsy's wonderful, fun, smart and very very cute son was with us. He is a little doll and so sweet.
After breakfast we went back to LL's and sat on her back porch for a visit that ended too soon.
Woodsy is really just as crazy as you all might think she is. But don't tell i said so! She is also adorable but we won't tell her that either...she might trip over a big head.

Crys....I will add the little one to my prayers too. I just might have to ask God to read this thread himself and include everyone because it just seems so hard to keep up on the bad news these days.
I have had a bit of sadness in my life and just told WW and LL this morning. It is hard to post here because I do feel a bit disconnected to the GT anymore. All because of my lack of time to invest in it. But I think I am ready to share. Not that my news out weighs any ones, It's just I guess its time to share.
We were to have out 6th grandchild in about 6 weeks time. But our poor little guy was stillborn a couple of weeks ago. One of his little arteries wasn't giving him enough blood and oxygen. We knew there was a problem because he had stopped growing a couple of weeks before, but was still moving and giving mommy some moves. Anyways, we buried him and he is with God now. Ackkkk...here comes the tears. I really hurt for my DS and DDIL!
thanks for listening.

What a couple of days with Woodsy and Woodsy's son. We were up until ALL hours, had dinner at Key West Cafe (with entertainment...Zac seemed to love that) and let Zac and the Old Dear have an evening watching TV together while WW and I chatted and scrapped.

Today we had brunch with Lizzanne, came back here and gabbed while Zac swam in the pool. Lizzanne is handy as heck at getting birddie-dodo out of hair...don't ask! I have met both of these great Grannies before, and hope to do so again soon. Just such a nice summer break!

ANYway...after completing a WONDERFUL layout if I do say so myself...it went POOF on me last night. I thought the laptop was plugged in but it was running on battery and I just didn't pay attention to the flashing red light. All gone!!! I tried to recreate the layout today but it isn't the same at all!!!

OK, so don't ask about the bird doodoo....i'll just tell.
LL,WW and myself are on the back porch and Zack is in the pool. I have no clue how LL got bird doodoo in her hair because we are sitting under a lattice topped deck! Bird timed that just right eh??....ok i'm laughing now which I really need after that last post.
I go into the house to get tissue and WW will NOT...not...let me wipe it out of LL's hair till she takes photo. Not just one photo....but many. Ok...LMAO now.
By this time it is getting hard, but not before dripping down LL's hair. So I work at it and it smears all over (but I didn't tell LL that). WW goes inside to get wet cloth and comes out and washes the rest out. It was very comical, but LL didn't like how slow WW and I were at coming to her aid.
It was funny!

Hi Everyone! I have lurked most of this week, a difficult one at best. DH and I will be making our second trip in the past weel to KY to check on DH's 86 year old step-dad. The yard is terribly overgrown and the house is beyond needing to be cleaned.
Step-dad is down to about 100 lbs. (maybe) and may have had a Tia (mini-stroke)...we are goin down Tomorrow and stay overnight...will try to take care of yard and as much of the house as Step-dad will allow us. Say a prayer for All of us.
Thanks!!!

Today has been a bit crazy. I have grandkids all day on Wed's and sometimes it's better than not. Today thankfully was a good day. They all behaved really well. So when I'm on my way home I thought I'd stop and get a hair dye (really was scary when I lifted the bangs). Have a important meeting tomorrow and wanted to look fresh as an old lady can, ya know? anyways, hair dye on, hubby on the way out the door to get carry out and its' already well into the eve. He says, "EMS is next door"! So with hair dye on and a tank top that is way too tight and spotted up with previous hair dyes, I wrap up my head and out the door. Neighbors everywhere, but here is my dear old lady neighbor that i adore laying on the ground with blood everywhere. She has a gash in her head and is on blood thinner so that don't help things. She's a little mixed up, so I come in the house to call her daughter that lives a couple of blocks away and no one is home. Back I go outside with hair dye still on head and looking a bit scary myself. I wonder if she even knew me!!...lol. Grab her purse, keys, and going to the hospital following her. But....going to drive over to her daughters to leave message on door first. But wait......i remember the hair dye. So into my house I go and rinse out the dye, try one more time to call her daughter. I am just now getting home. I am tired.
With all the grannies needing prayers for what looks like every reason in the medical books, can we add her? She is such a sweet kind wonderful elderly woman and it breaks my heart. She just lost her husband the beginning of the year, fell and broke her arm in the spring, just started come out of the house again because of her unsure steadiness and now this. I see her failing a bit more every week.
Her daughter says "if I can just wrap mom in bubblewrap and keep her in the house, she'd be fine!"
So I've got my captain morgan and diet coke all ready ( a bit of a heafty one i'm afraid) and in a few I'm going to go to Woodsy's chat.
whew, what a mouthful....or chatful...or would that be typedful?
hugs all

Keeping your neighbor in my prayers! Poor Lady!

Prayers are flowing for all who need them. Also, please add my niece and her 3 month old baby boy; they were diagnosed with swine flu yesterday.

Congrats to all who are moving on in Trendsetters. I am almost relieved that circumstances kept me from getting my LO into the first round. And Scooch, your LO was top-notch. Most of us have been eliminated in the first round of many contests.

Yuck, physical therapy at 8 a.m. today. Not my idea of fun, but it's helping me.

Off to the gallery. :love1:   :applause: --------

Hope your physical therapy went well! Keeping your niece and her baby in my prayers!

Riley Hospital works miracles! Keeping her in my prayers!

Oh My, what a sweetheart! Tristan's words were much like Jacob's on his first day of kindergarten!

Welcome, Kathy!

Par-tay. Happy birthday, Leslie.:yippee:

From me too, Leslie!

Anyhow, these look like them, so I am giving a plate to the GT. Mars - yours is the one in the middle - it has extra virtual sprinkles on it!

Happy Birthday, Leslie; how many pieces do you reckon you can cut this in, for freezing and later gratification?

Oh my stars! The GT knows me so well!

I froze ten of the cupcakes I made last night, just left two, gladwrapped, on the counter for the boys overnight.

I bet I could get that gorgeous cake into 20 pieces! It would fill my freezer. It rocks! :love3:

Is this done through iTunes? Is it like uploading applications? Do you buy the seasons of a show? Inquiring minds.....

Yes Omio, iTunes sell a lot of TV shows and movies. You go iito iTunes, then go into the store. That is the easiest and the quickest way to get them onto your ipod touch. A movie sells for about $15 and a TV series for about $45. They also have a cheaper version for geting movies, like, about $4, but you only have a couple of days to watch it before it expires. I haven't tried that one yet.

;) Another way I have heard of, is to download a program such as Vuze and use a fairly safe site such as mininova.com (a lot of other sites are full of porn) to download torrents and then convert them after they are downloaded from avi files to mpeg 4 files to be able to watch them on either your computer screen or your ipod touch.

This chews up your GBs of Internet downloads quicker than my Trixie scarfing down her Science Diet dry cereal. One would need a LOT of GBs of broadband to do this.

Karen, I use two Canons. I just download them into different folders. One called canon Rebel, the other small canon. The powershot is 8 MP. I've enjoyed powershots since about 2001 but that one was only 2 MP. It still makes great shots after all that use. I know you will really enjoy one, it just slips into my jeans pocket.

I really hurt for my DS and DDIL!
thanks for listening.
hugs all

No harder or more unfair loss in this world than a child. I'm so sorry.

:love2: Yesterday evening, I made chocolate cupcakes for my birthday. Really - I did! It was a packet mix. *gurgle*

Anyhow, these look like them, so I am giving a plate to the GT. Mars - yours is the one in the middle - it has extra virtual sprinkles on it!

I am taking one to school for my morning tea. Hope they taste good.

Assuming you haven't passed out on sugar by now, happy birthday!

Hmmm...may need to look into this. Could really be nice when traveling.

OMIO, How are you doing now that you have stepped down and are truel retired!!

BTW, Has DGD come down from her cloud? Is she taking a few weeks off before fall swimming starts or is her club one that takes no breaks.

Well, I haven't managed to truly retire yet. :o DGD started high school this morning, which I can hardly believe. Haven't talked to her so don't know how she handled being an ankle-biter after her big swimming success -- don't think she was looking forward to being back on the bottom rung of school. (And, for some reason, she doesn't find my use of the term "ankle-biter" all that funny -- just quoting the upper classmen.)

May I please remind you, Omio, that you are retired. Yes, I know you have some finish up stuff to do, but I shall pop in from time to time to remind you that you need Omio time!

And the other shoe falls. :love2: As most of you know, Scamp and I spent a couple of days together at the beach. I was really physically exhausted from vacation -- as dearly as I love my DGKs, I swear I didn't have one more theme park in me! :worried: :D (That said, it was worth every ache and pain to have my family together for the week! :love3:)

So there I sat on one sofa in a relative stupor and there Scamp sat on the other sofa churning out gorgeous new layouts. Ah, but she multi-tasked because I also got a series of loving lectures and firm marching orders to come home, clear my schedule of everyone except family (who are not my stressors), reduce my obligations only to necessities and pleasures and to work on finding good ways to de-stress in general. :o

Scamp, you may find this hard to believe but I've already started minding you. Sent a couple of emails -- gist of each one is that I'm listening to the recommendation the doctor gave me six months ago, reducing or eliminating my commitments, and won't be available until further notice. As you know, I can't completely do this with scholarship since I'm still on the Board but I did politely refuse by phone to handle two problems that are no longer my responsibility and I passed two other outside calls on to the new president. Must admit, this is starting to feel pretty good.

Now to get rid of some long-time service people.... Geez, I am such a guilt-ridden wuss....... :help: :worried: :( :annoyed:  :lol:

Thought everyone could use a bit of good news.....
First Shawn is still alive and still not pregnant .....lololol
However the good news is that the congestive heart failure diagnosis may not
be absolute !!! He just had more tests and the heart looks good...and the kidney damage diagnosis may just be a byproduct of the hospital stay 'cuz right now his doctor
is saying that there may not be any kidney damage....
Shawn is still having major swelling in the legs but heart and kidneys are good !!!!

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

The nurse started with certain basics.

How much do you weigh?' she asks.
'135,' I say. The nurse puts me on the scale.

It turns out my weight is 180.

The nurse asks, 'Your height?' '5 foot 2,' I say.
The nurse checks and sees that I only measure 4'11’’.

She then takes my blood pressure and tells me it is very high.
'Of course it's high!' I scream, 'When I came in here I was tall and
slender! Now I'm short and fat!'

She put me on Prozac.

What a bitch.

Now I'll go catch up.

Isn't it supposed to be good luck if a bird drops one on your head?

She (and you ) are constantly being sent good vibes . I think Vanessa's mantra is so calming: “ Every hand that touches my body is a healing hand. All is well. Everything is working out for my highest good. Out of this situation only good will come. I am safe!”:hug:

It is a wonderful mantra Kay!!!

..they showed a little video clip of a bear here in town that has been eating the seed out of bird feeders. That is the second bear that has wandered into town this month. Then they showed a clip of a lady's demolished windshield. It seems an eagle dropped a huge dead fish as it was flying over her car. Wonder if the eagle said, "Oops."

We have bears here in the yard and up the lane every night. Bob forgot to put the birdfeeders away before dusk last night, and when he and Harley got back from their nightly drive down to the lake, the bear was at our feeder, which is only 10 feet from the back deck. He totally bent the shepherd's hook where the feeder was hanging. It's getting so we see more bear than deer!

How scary Crys! I hope they will both be okay and home from the hospital soon!

Tristan started school yesterday.

What a darling story about his day!

No Ipod here but we have been obsessed lately with back episodes of NCIS

Me too! In fact I usually catch the 5:00 AM episode on Sleuth before going to bed.

Hi fellow grannies,
I was invited to join this forum so here I be! hee hee.
It will probably take me a while to be able to keep up but I'll workout :yippee: till I do.
I have one grandbaby, Nicole 2yrs. Never knew love like this before. It is something special, isn't it?
I'm Grammie and Bruce is Paw Paw. We call her Shugy.
Looking forward to rocking with the grannies. :drumroll:
Kathy

Welcome Kathy!!!

Okay, I just created magic list #2 to cover all of the most recent hurts and illnesses. Remind all involved that no one is allowed to screw up omio's magic lists. :annoyed: If in doubt, see Kay. :p

I am shaking in my boots!!!

I really hurt for my DS and DDIL!
thanks for listening.
hugs all.

OMG....Tears from me too. How heartbreaking for you and your family. What a sad time. I will keep you all in my prayers!

Thanks!!!

More sadness. Sorry to hear this Alice. I will add you all to my prayers!

Happy belated birthday Leslie!!! :yippee::yippee::yippee:

I didn't get to finish reading.....Will try and catch up with you all tomorrow!

Carrie just PM'd me to say she goes for her PET scan this morning. Praying they don't find any evidence of metastatic disease. They'll check her entire body.

Need sleep.....Night all...

Hey matey - it's right on time! It is only 9pm here on my actual birthday and I am going to have it on the USA 14th as well!

I'm having it over two days this year to make up for a very very quiet one last year. I was staying at my sister's house up north looking after my mom who had a broken arm. My birthday last year was in the middle of the week I was helping out.

I actually think this year's has been lovely. :)

Oh ladies, Alessandro came home tonight with jewelry for me he had loving picked out and bought all by himself. He is only 18 remember.

It is a silver (I have only EVER worn gold but nevermind) ID bracelet and on the front is Happy birthday Mum and on the back is Love from Alessandro and next to that is the FREAKING DATE INCLUDING YEAR, excuse me, deep breath, that I was born. Lucky it is on the back as I have never told anyone apart from family how old I am.

I can cover the year date with nail polish maybe. And it is too big so he will have to get it shortened a bit. :)

What a dear boy!! :love2: :love1: :love2:

essee would be in Melbourne now she flew there today

Thanks for thinking of me Caro. Yes I am in Melbourne (that is warm, sunny, glorious Melbourne, as opposed to to wild, wet, windy Perth!!!) Lucy and William met me at the airport with big helium balloons saying "Welcome Home".

Now I am sitting here, totally exhausted after a week of packing, removalists in to clear the house, then thoroughly cleaning the house yesterday, before flying out very early this morning. But I am also very quietly having a nervous breakdown!!! Settlement for our house was due on Wednesday morning, but late Tuesday afternoon we received a phone call to say the buyers bank had not completed all their paperwork, so settlement was deferred until today. Part of the settlement was to be paid as deposit on our new house, so we had to beg for an extension of time. This afternoon we received another phone call to say settlement did not go ahead, as the buyer had not been totally honest with all his refinancing details, and another bank must now be involved! They have said settlement is now scheduled for Monday, but I am struggling with this as I can't see how another bank can have all their paperwork done in such a short time frame.

So we are now 4000km away, on the other side of the country. Our house is empty, uninsured as we cancelled it as from the first settlement date, all our belongings in storage, and about to go into default on the contract for the new house as we have not paid the deposit.

It has certainly taken the shine and excitement off our move back to our home town.

Oh, Lizzie, I'm so sorry for your family's loss. :love1:   :love1:   :love1:

Where else in the world can one go from tear of sadness to gales of laughter in the matter of a couple of posts? TG4GT And, LL, please know we aren't laughing AT you...;)

Oh My, what a sweetheart! Tristan's words were much like Jacob's on his first day of kindergarten!

Welcome, Kathy!

From me too, Leslie!

Oh, I am soo very sorry to hear this! Hugs to you and your Ds and DDIL!

Alice this can't be easy for you and your DH!      Safe travels and best of luck.

Don't you sometimes wish you could impart your years of wisdom onto the little ones? *Worrying about their stuff* is so futile, but oh-so important to them! Tristan is such a worry-wort, and I get concerned for him, but from all the stories coming out, sounds like these are natural reactions of a 5 yr. old!

We know prayers and Riles work magic. Caleigh's cousin, Nicholas is a *Riles kid*!

I'm thinking of buying a small camera. I'd like to get a Canon but already have one. What happens with the numbers and folders if I have two Canons and take photos with both cameras on the same day?

Karen, both my son and I have the EXACT same Nikon cameras. I never have any trouble, because I always download each batch of pic to it's own folder! Also, I have two Nikons and have d/led pics off each into the same folder with no problem. I think each has it's own definitive beginning letters for the pics.

Bought my iPod Touch a fun new game: Doodle Jump.

Does't this sound just like a game WoodsyWoman would invent?

May I please remind you, Omio, that you are retired. Yes, I know you have some finish up stuff to do, but I shall pop in from time to time to remind you that you need Omio time!

Yes, and I shall follow up by reminding you that I would be ever-so-pleased if some of that *Omio time* included mentoring! :D

What a relief! Thank you for the wonderful update!

I also have been inside is the Burj al Arab in Dubai back in 2005. My camera accidently went off while inside - dont know how:o - we were supposed to not take photos inside incase we got a photo of someone famous.

I've been inside too..what DECADENCY !! ..and my camera also went off accidentally a few times ;) especially near the tea trolleys laden with goodies !!

:rofl::rofl::rofl: I :love1:Alessandro !!!!

:shocked:Sheesh Essee...crossing all my fingers and all my toes !! Hang in there !!!:hug:

Thought everyone could use a bit of good news.....
First Shawn is still alive and still not pregnant .....lololol
However the good news is that the congestive heart failure diagnosis may not
be absolute !!! He just had more tests and the heart looks good...and the kidney damage diagnosis may just be a byproduct of the hospital stay 'cuz right now his doctor
is saying that there may not be any kidney damage....
Shawn is still having major swelling in the legs but heart and kidneys are good !!!!

I really hurt for my DS and DDIL!
thanks for listening.
hugs all

.

big hugs to you lizzanne! We love you and are thinking of you and hurting for you. May you have comfort in the fact you are not alone, but much loved.

Off to the bank for my yearly meeting with my mother's banker to decide how much money she need for her care for the next 12 months. I don't mind doing it, but it is stressful.

:love1::pray::hug:--------

You have my sympathy and empathy. I am fortunate that one of my sisters is the business person, and takes care of my mother's business. She's fortunate that she lives far away and can do it from her computer at home!:p

Speaking of my mother, a couple of Sundays ago, on of the workers knocked on her door and told her that her grandson had called and would be picking her up for lunch, and would she be in the lobby at 12:30. (My mother is functionally deaf and doesn't use the phone.) She waited, and waited, and waited...they tried to call my cell phone, but I missed it. She was worried that the Kid (who is her only grandson in Austin) had been in a wreck or something.

The kid showed up around two, and of course had not called to take her to lunch. He always emails her when he's coming. Turns out, there's another resident at one of the other facilities with the same last name as my mom, and they think that whoever just called the wrong Summit. Mother missed lunch and worried needlessly--If the aide taking the message had gotten a name and a number all this would have been avoided. Sheesh.:annoyed::mad::annoyed:

I hate to even mention this, with all the health problems of the grannies and their loved ones, but I could use a quick good thought or two in the next few days. My Dr. "didn't like" something she saw on my routine EKG last month and ordered a stress test. I did that today. You can't really tell anything from the technicians. They sure are noncommittal, but they made darned good and sure that I had made an appointment with my GP, and even gave me a written reminder after calling to find out for sure that I had that appointment. This just may be their usual thorough service, but it has me a little unnerved. The appointment is Wednesday. I have blood work and mamo on Monday.

I am positive there is nothing wrong with me. Still...

I am watcing Cybill season one and really enjoying it. :) On my bed, feet up. And I am glaring at my suitcase on the bed. And at my two non working space bags. They hold pillows, parka, and foam - you know that eggshell looking pale yellow foam you buy as an overlay for your bed if the mattress is too hard? We take some every time we go away. I even took it to the Gold Coast with my pillow. I space bag it in the suitcase.

My goodness that stir fry was yummy! Chicken breast, cut up into pieces, then marinated for 15 minutes in peanut butter, brown sugar, soy sauce and sherry, then fried up for two minutes then I put a lid on it and left it to steam for five minutes. Then served up with a couple of packets of that instant microwave rice, one packet of Chinese flavor and one of plain white rice.

I have been as sick as a dog today and it was all self inflicted:yikes::yikes::yikes:
after going out to dinner with friends last night my girlfriend and I decided to get into her hot spa and sample her husbands home made alcohol - 2 and a half hours later after having sampled quite a large quantity of this rocket fuel we decided we best get out only to realise we had trouble standing up! It seemed quite funny at the time, but I am sure paying for it today, I know I have killed off quite a few braincells and am never ever going to touch home brew again:no::no::no::no::no::no:

I really hurt for my DS and DDIL!
thanks for listening.
hugs all

.

:worried: I am so jealous of your visit, and so heartbroken for you over your & your family's loss.   , :love1: :love1: :love1: :love1: :love1: &     to you.

I'm so happy to hear this!! Especially that all his exposure to the DSP gals at Adobe didn't end up in a surprise pregnancy!!! ;)

Some good news today for DGS Russ: HE QUALIFIED FOR A GOLF SCHOLARSHIP. Not big or that much money, but every bit helps.

WTG RUSS!!!! :yahoo:

Erica chat on now!

Followed by Bingo - PM Mars for your card. :)

You would not believe how confused I was when I saw this!!  It was 7:13 pm my time, and I had totally forgotten that I am now on Central time, instead of DSP time...I thought everyone had started early!! :worried:

Awwwww, Scamp, how disheartening! :annoyed:

I've been double gob-smacked and I just ran in here so I could brag; who else would get it but you guys?

Lauren chose both my Running Back in Time (Steampunk Jack) and Worlds Best Grandpa (DH w/Tristan and Rutker catching crawdads) as her pick of the pack for featuring on her blog today! :D :D :D

Well of COURSE she did!!

Still...

LL...don't EVER hesitate to request GT love......sending love & prayers your way, too!! :love1: :love1: :love1: :love1: :love1:

Essee, your house worries are important too.  Hope it all gets worked out quickly!

I am going to finish my coffee while I love up on lo's and check out the TS gallery this morning....I feel like a heel because I've been so busy with schools-related stuff that I haven't even LOOKED in there! :o

Then, I am going to eat a banana, sort & start laundry, then hopefully do a lo or two throughout the day. I've decided I do want a 2-pager for Rhyan & Tucker's back to school layout...plus I want to play with Z's fab kit that I won at Bingo last night :D

I also, tentatively, have pencilled a note to myself to take the kids on a photo walk this evening when the weather cools a bit. I remember my eX doing that once with some of his work buddies. One of them was in to making home made Brandy and such. I guess they all sat in his celler and sampled ALL kinds. Caleigh Nicole is doing well. They took her off the ventilator for a while yesterday and she did pretty good breathing. They also gave her some breast milk through a feeding tube and she kept it down, which was encouraging. Momma got released from the hospital and is doing fairly well, also.

I also, tentatively, have pencilled a note to myself to take the kids on a photo walk this evening when the weather cools a bit. We're always seeing deer, birds & bunnies at dusk around here, but we're usually in the van and without a camera. If I can get the kids (boys especially) to be quiet enough, maybe we'll get lucky tonight. I need to read up on what my settings should be though, to allow for the muted light. I don't want a longer shutter speed because if they or I move, then I'll just have a big blur. Would anyone in here be able to help me with this?

Dix - bump the ISO to 400 at least (I go higher but realize I'll have to run it through a noise filter). You will want as close to 125 shutter speed as you can get to avoid movement blur. Depending on how low the light is, your depth of field will be fairly shallow so make sure you focus on the critter. Having said all that, I'm no pro, that's just my trial and error findings.

Journaling reads: Some of the best memories I have are of being a little girl and posing for my Daddy’s pictures. Then getting to sit with him in the darkroom and watching the magic as the pictures were developed and magically came to life. Everywhere we lived, we always had a darkroom. I remember the equipment, the processes, but mostly the magic and the smells. The smell of developer fluid might not be the most fragrant smell in the world, but it brings back the nicest of memories.

I just chatted with CathieMarie - she is doing okay - she is home from the hospital and waiting on the results from some tests. She's back at work on Monday. I've been frantic since I've seen the post in the thread that she was admited to hospital for heart problems. It was such a relief to chat with her. I am going to see her in September. James is moving close by her on September 1st and it is such a comfort that, even though he'll be thousands of miles away from me, there is a granny close by!

Guess who got time to scrapbook yesterday between cleaning, cooking, and getting ready to roll today. Again, no need to comment on so many. Just thought some of you vicarious travelers might enjoy them.

We are aiming for Trinidad, CO just for tonight but who knows where we'll end up.

:applause: :applause: :applause: Fabulous pages, Karen!!! :applause: :applause: :applause:

Caleigh Nicole is doing well. They took her off the ventilator for a while yesterday and she did pretty good breathing. They also gave her some breast milk through a feeding tube and she kept it down, which was encouraging. Momma got released from the hospital and is doing fairly well, also.

Your previous and continued prayers are much appreciated!!

So heartening to hear! Continued healing vibes & prayers headed to her and Mama!! :love1:

I just chatted with CathieMarie - she is doing okay - she is home from the hospital and waiting on the results from some tests. She's back at work on Monday. I've been frantic since I've seen the post in the thread that she was admited to hospital for heart problems. It was such a relief to chat with her. I am going to see her in September. James is moving close by her on September 1st and it is such a comfort that, even though he'll be thousands of miles away from me, there is a granny close by!

Same for Cathie!! :love1:  How wonderful that James will have such a dear friend of yours to help him settle in. Now we just have to wait for the photos of her getting him all decked out to attend those crazy parties she goes to!!

Had a bit of free time today, so I played :D

if you can get your hands on a banana, I SWEAR it will take those shakes and that raunchy tummy away!! The potassium does wonders on a hangover!! ;) (007: not that I would have ever experienced one....no way...not me!!!) :D

I got word today at EJ (niece's baby) is much better too. Looks like granny prayers and "magic lists" work wonders.

The father of grands Russ, Evan and Avery (DDs x) hurt his hand at work yesterday. His left hand was smashed between two pieces of metal, one weighing 4000 lbs. He was in surgery for 5 hours last night and faces a bone graft surgery later; he could end up losing the hand. He was released from the hospital late today since nothing can be done for several weeks.

Ohh Di, thanks SO much!! Will definately try these out!! Just getting supper fixed now so we can hit the trail! Y'all will be the first to see how it turns out!

I recently saw that a hangover is actually symptoms of dehydration. So drink all you can! Just make it water! LOL

The prayers of grannies are appreciated. My BIL came home from hospital today doing good. Suppose to follow up with doc.
