Your Angel
Once upon a time there was a child ready to be born. The child asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow. How am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"
God replied, "Among the angels, I'll choose one for you. Your Angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."
The child further inquired, "But tell me God, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy."
God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you every day. And you will feel your angel's love and feel very happy."
Again the child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?"
God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."
"I've heard that on earth there are bad people. Who will protect me?"
God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life."
At that moment there was much peace in heaven, but the voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."
"Her name is not important. You will simply call her GRANDMA."

Hey Judy from another Judy!! LOL See you can't be the only Judy here either! The good thing is about being named Judy is...no one seems to be naming their kids after us any longer so we might become part of the heritage names. Only sad thing is, as soon as you tell someone your name (Judy or Judith) they know your older! I always wanted to be a little different than others so for awhile I changed the spelling of mine to Judi, but I eventually grew up and went back to the old way!
I know. No one calls me by my name here so every time they say something to you I jump. Let me take a shot in the dark here -- is it Judith Ann? And can you even estimate how many times men have said, "Judy, Judy, Judy" in absolutely HORRIBLE Cary Grant imitations?

Job at the FBI
The FBI had an opening for an assassin.
After all the background checks, interviews
And testing were done, there were 3 finalists;
Two men and a woman.
For the final test, the FBI agents took one of
The men to a large metal door and handed
Him a gun.
'We must know that you will follow your
Instructions no matter what the circumstances.
Inside the room you will find your wife sitting
In a chair .. . . Kill her!!'
The man said, 'You can't be serious. I could
Never shoot my wife.'
The agent said, 'Then you're not the right man
For this job. Take your wife and go home.'
The second man was given the same instructions.
He took the gun and went into the room. All was
Quiet for a bout 5 minutes.
The man came out with tears in his eyes, 'I tried,
But I can't kill my wife.' The agent said, 'You don't
Have what it takes. Take your wife and go home.'
Finally, it was the woman's turn. She was given the
Same instructions, to kill her husband. She took the
Gun and went into the room. Shots were heard, one
After another. They heard screaming, crashing,
Banging on the walls. After a few minutes, all was
Quiet. The door opened slowly and there stood the
Woman, wiping the sweat from her brow.
'This gun is loaded with blanks' she said. 'I had to
Beat him to death with the chair.'

LOL... Such funny goings on in here today! CONGRATS ON LOTD JILL EG!!
Had a LOVELY day here at my place too.... Was supposed to help my sister's MIL move, but when I turned on my water to wash up.... THERE WAS NONE!! Evidently the little heater that's in my outside pumphouse DIED! Probably from the bath it got a few weeks ago when the water softer blew a hose and drowned it??? The water lines partially froze, enough so none would come into the house... That's twice this month I've had to crouch around in that itty bitty damp space :eek: After numerous calls back and forth with Mom n Dad, trying all the breakers, fuses, plugs etc... Dad came out and got the old heater going and thawed me out! HURRAY!!! So mom and I go out to find a new space heater, and guess what??? None to be found anywhere, all stock is gone and Dad isn't able to fix the other one and the old one running now is a huge drain on the electric bill... SPRING, PLEASE HURRY UP AND GET HERE, LOL
Any ways, Mom called in the mean time while dad is fixing, and She's STUCK IN AN ELEVATOR!!! Stuck for an hour and a half! It's a brand new building and elevator, the inspector had just been there 2 days ago and totally missed the fact that a roller was missing off the door and it fell off it's track and it got stuck with about 10 inches of open space for the second time! Two of the kids made it out, Mom and my Sister didn't, the rest of the moving crew of family kept them fed with pizza throught the opening and entertainment! Someone offered cold water to drink, but Mom declined, there wasn't a potty in the elevator :rofl:
Life in GrannyLand LOL
LL, what a mess for your OD and your Camera!
EB Joan... You're getting great advice from the Grannys and I agree, so enjoy your new status and take your time with deciding what to do next. And SCRAP LIKE CRAZY while you decide!! :yippee::tup::yippee:
I was at DD's today and got a couple photos of the boys, maybe I'll upload them and see if I feel like scrapping too.

WELL, FRASH!!! I was TRYING to be uber-cool and use the little buttons there to reply to somebody specifically..... OYYY! HELP WITH THE KEYBOARD!!!!
Okay. Trendsetter - holy cow, I just peeked at the gallery and am literally blown away! You guys ARE trendsetters!!!!! HOLY SMOKES, grannies RULE!
Job losses..... ICK. I am praying - seriously, for all those who's keyboard has touched me (ALL OF YOU)..... It is a scary, scary time... I'm praying that God will take care of all of us, and know that He will...
I can't remember what else ... GrandmasCrap..... Yes, the granny rule about sipping while reading is a VERY good rule!!! Jeesh, Vallie, you should go on tour as a comedienne! Seriously!
I'm freaking out a whole bunch about my upcoming custody/separation hearing. It's March 3rd in the afternoon, EST, and I really covet your prayers. I promise to share more as time goes by (after it's over and behind me), but for now, I'm okay... I'm still sober (4 months tomorrow!), and doing really well with ME... And the kids(!)... It's the presence of the dh that is really difficult.... But I"m thinking and living just for right now, and have faith that I will get through this... Wanted to give you a little update....
Hope YOU guys are all well -my mom has pneumonia, so everyone stay in out of the cold, I don't want any other sick people in my life!!! Huge hugs, everyone. Love you!
:hug::hug::hug: for you and your mom!:hug::hug::hug:
  :wave:Miss! Oh, Miss! My DH must certainly be the exception here! He retired at 62 (planned) and has been happy as a clam and FISHING EVERY POSSIBLE DAY is a big part of his *retirement plan*! :D He is busier than a "one-armed paper hanger" and so far the only setback has been frozen ears!

And, we have not gone hungry one single day!
But I think your DH and Mars' DH enjoyed all of those things before they retired. Plus they understand that people actually EAT what they hunt and fish. The people I know who have been unhappy live in big cities and think they want a quieter life than it turns out they do.
Judy Garland must have had a lot to do with a whole generation of girls named Judy...
My mother said it was because we were all named after Clark Gable's daughter. :D
Oh, Laura, I am truly sorry about the camera. I do hope your insurance covers it. Any chance the cart malfunctioned...??? :( :( :(
And Caro, I, for one, remember that giraffe story!
How could anyone ever forget that story!!:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I guess mine is exceptional too... he had forced retirement when a limb almost took off his head, but he loves the Golfing, Fishing, Hunting Retirement Plan. The only other thing he does regularly is one or two funerals a month and a daily walk with Sunny and a visit with his mom.
Funerals?????? Does he officiate or does he just like to go to them, or are his friends all dropping off the perch.
In the olden days, the old ladies of the towns used to go to all the funerals and weddings, just for a day out. He aint getting like that is he?:lol::lol:

I told her NOT to bother mailing the giraffe home. BTW for any who dont know what giraffe I am referring to ask Gail about her giraffe story.

How are you today...
I'm fine and dandy thanky .... you? :D
What did you eat for breakfast..
For breakfast we ate ..... dang what did I eat for breakfast ..... ack my mind is going.
Look at that I hit 40 and my mind takes a vacation.
Well...it finally happened.
While we are in Florida my Old Dear gets around outside on a small electric single-person golf cart. (for the new grannies, he has Post Polio Syndrome and finds it harder and harder to get around even with leg brace and claw-crutches) I am always worried when he comes into the screen house that he will somehow head-first into the pool on that cart.
No...that isn't what happened.
We were down by the lake, like we are almost every evening, watching the sunset and the animal-life antics...and taking photos with my Rebel XTi with the 27-300mm lens. "Time to go in", I said as it got quite chilly when the sun went down.
Like the gentleman that he is, he took the camera, binoculars, both empty bottles, put them in the front basket and turned on the cart. THE THROTTLE WAS CAUGHT ON SOMETHING! He went forward FAST...he turned the wheel but it caught in the space between the seawall and the shore. The cart went over and dumped him, and everything in the front basket into the lake. I screamed and the neighbor, now known as Seawall Steve (thanks Woodsy Woman for inspiration) came running.
The lake is only about 18 inches deep around the edges and bottomed with sand, muck, and algae. As Seawall Steve came running I watched helplessly as bubbles came up from my precious camera and lens while it sat on the bottom.
Seawall Steve went in and it took us both more than a couple of minutes to get the OD up and over the edge of the seawall. SS grabbed my camera off the bottom, then the binoculars and beer bottles. The OD pulled his cell phone out of his pocket and I noticed SS's still on his soggy belt.
We finally got the OD back on the cart and we all headed in for showers. My lens is full of sand and the camera full of water. I pulled the battery right away and the CF card, but I am very afraid the whole thing is D-E-A-D. We are going to head into Melbourne to a big camera shop tomorrow and see what they can do. Then on Monday I will call my insurance company but I am not at all hopeful. I still have the Canon Elph, though, so I am not without resources.
In the grand scheme of things...it will all be OK. The OD just suggested that we missed a $10,000 winner on America's Funniest Home Videos. I am not at all ready to laugh at this.
OMG ...... so gald OD is ok [and that he can make a funny, thats a good sign] but wow the camera I would be devastated.
I have to tell you this ......
DH had to work nights tonight so at 11pm he started to get ready. Amy heard and got up not quite realizing what was happening until daddy walked out the door giving her the usual kiss and be good routine. Amy can;t get back to sleep because daddy isn't there so she will sleep with me tonight but the thing that tells me she is so daddy's little girl is .... she got one of his long sleeve Ts out of the wardrobe so she can wear it to bed so she can hug him all night. That is one of the sweetest things I have ever heard.
Back to getting her to bed. She says good night to everyone and that she knows the sooner she goes to sleep the sooner daddy get home but she really misses him. Awwww I gonna go give her lots of hugs and read her a story.

Ryan got his dog Buster as a gift for his 13th Birthday and bitter irony would have it that the day after Ryan's 29th birthday Buster who is now 16 started becoming quite ill.
A trip to the vet confirmed the fact that his heart is starting to fail and on top of that he is deaf almost blind and showing weakness in his back legs. The vet thought it would be kinder to have him put down, but because he is still eating well and seems quite happy we have decided to put him on medication and prolong his life for a few more months - we cant bear to say goodbye to him.
Here is a layout of a photo I took this afternoon - Ryan was reclining in his wheelchair because he is suffering quite a bit of hip and back pain and Buster looks so comfy on his lap - I just love this photo it is so sweet

Funerals?????? Does he officiate or does he just like to go to them, or are his friends all dropping off the perch.
In the olden days, the old ladies of the towns used to go to all the funerals and weddings, just for a day out. He aint getting like that is he?:lol::lol:
As a kid, I could work up such a cry that my mother used to say she was going to rent me out for funerals as a crier.

Caro, sending you huge hugs, my thoughts and prayers are with you, and I shall especially be thinking of you and Donn tomorrow. I don't think it's crazy that you feel like you are losing a bit more, I think I would feel like that too, and I believe you will always have that feeling haunt you until the final honours are paid to Donn. It is wonderful that Donn has been remembered is such wonderful ceremonies but each one must resurrect the suffering you feel at loosing him so please Caro, don't think it's crazy.

Oh my goodness. She is the daddy's little girl. Cute story.

I agree - pets give us so much unconditional love. I had to put my 17.5 yr old Staffy out of her pain 12 months ago. It broke my heart but she was deaf, and she could barely walk. It was time. I still cry for her sometimes.

I would love to change my name to just plain Ineke but wasnt able to when I first joined cause the name had been taken - I just had a look at the members list and the person that has the name Ineke joined in July 2006 and has no posts at all in that time. Does DSP go through the member list and delete unused names??
Inky, I've been investigating this for you (I can now that I'm on the Team Digital:yahoo:) and if you contact help@digitalscrapbookplace.com they will look into it for you. HTH's

Oh dear! I hope something turns up for him or would you like him to come home?
We live in an RV and keep moving so our DD can't find us and move in with us.:rofl::rofl: Not that she'd want to if she has anyone else she can move in with, which she does at the moment.
My DD multiplied before she came home. Fortunately, it was not a long stay. Now the grands are the ones who would probably come live with us. Maybe DH can retire and we can leave in the 5th wheel before that happens.
Love you!
Congrats on the 4 month sobriety. I will be sending prayers, love and red threads your way; especially on the 3rd.
You can go into the store. I'll let ya.:yes:
I heard there is some hot shot, very, very, very young, new apprentice designer with a fondness for chocolate and tiaras. Her stuff is in the store and I hear it's pretty good stuff.
That's what I hear anyway.
Very, very, very young????
Congrats on LOTD Jill - such a fantastic layout of a very handsome young man!:yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:
That is one awesome LO. I would say you got your blending right on.
Glad to hear the OD was not hurt. Bummer about the camera and other stuff. I have a friend in Panama City Beach who has post polio syndrome also. It is wrecking havoc on her in her 60s.
I have been scanning photos and found another one of DGS Evan that I love. I used Carole's (luvzkitties) Driftwood kit.

thanks Suz I've jsut got off the phone from talking to Donn's sister and was kind of a good chat she is back at Donn's house sorting out stuff and she was saying how much of a giggle she was getting from reading all the cards I had sent too Donn in the past 11 years and I was saying eeeeeek I am embarrassed as something of them were VERY intimate and she was laughing and I said actually well why we discussing this I want to let you know there is a drawer in Donns bedroom that contains a giraffe and I am really blushing about it and she was so wonderful about it saying that her and her husband Mike also had some toys eeeeeek my face is burning up just typing this. I told her NOT to bother mailing the giraffe home. BTW for any who dont know what giraffe I am referring to ask Gail about her giraffe story.
ROTFLMBO!!!   This is almost better than your 'cool whip' story!!
I'm trying to catch up. I've somehow managed to jump in on page 5828, from yesterday, but I haven't read anything since Friday morning. So I'm thinking that little Ms. Rhyan was 'investigating' my quick links toolbar last night while chatting with her sister through MY Facebook. :annoyed:
We had a wonderful time on Friday with LauraLou, even though the wind-chill kept us off the beaches. Once I told the kids that we would go back when it was warmer, they were all fine. LL took us to a Nature Center, the beach, then we tried to go to this really cool intercoastal restaurant, but they had closed their little beach-access off, too. We ended up at a cool little park with really friendly squirrels and lots of sand, so Tucker was happy to finally get to use the sand toys he borrowed from LL. :D Unfortunately we couldn't stay long, because I had to take Tucker to the IL's this weekend. But, I have proof that the day was a success, which I will link in here once I get the album set up. :D ;)
Summer took some AWESOME pictures at the nature center, and I'm trying to pilfer them off of her Facebook, because she forgot to let me pull them off of her card. She's home now, we took her to the airport at 6:00 am yesterday morning. She made friends with the neighbor's 15 year old son while she was down this time, and me thinks there may be a little spark of somethin-or-nuther going on, as he looked so forlorn when I saw him yesterday. I just wanted to say 'AWWWWW' and give him a big hug. They swapped numbers, so at least they can stay in contact through texts and on weekends when they both have free calling. They're both begging me to let her come down in April, as are the kids. I feel like I'm being ganged up on. I thought peer pressure ended with high school??  But I've told ALL of them that it's going to depend on whether or not the foreclosure has gone through on this place. Ahhhh, teen romance. What's a mom to do??
Spent all day yesterday cleaning, organizing, and uploading my pictures from the week. I woke up this morning with a burst of inspiration for my first layout since the beginning of the month! SO, I'm off to do that, then I'll come back to catch up.

There are mixed blessings in suddenly becoming the keeper of ALL the family photos and documents and letters. I keep looking and reading and getting excited about all the possibilities for layouts, and then have no time to make them. Slowly, patiently...;)
Wish I had a keeper like you to help me sort through all I have. Both my DH's
family and mine were horrid with photos, albums and info. I wasn't much better until discovering digi a few years ago.. When I think of all I would love to accomplish with it one day I almost feel dizzy... Major advice to any of you young ones out there listening in... Find the time and keep at it..You will never regret it! (sigh.....)

I am in a chipper mood today
No real reason, that is the best part I think.
Made a layout first thng this morn, but waiting for the kit to hit the store before posting, got 2 partial layouts started, made a wishlist and a grocery list, fed the animals and am waiting for my turn in the bathroom. So not a bad day.
I have an over flowing basket of laundry, but it's not crawling on its own yet and no one is nakid, so it will wait till tomarrow.
Sink is full of dirty dishes, which is weird, because I haven't cooked sense Friday  Did I tell you everyone else in this house afraid of dish water?
Ok it is my turn in bathroom, hope there is still hot water!!

I'm still amazed at your photos in dim light, probably incandescent - no color cast, no burn out from the flash! Perfect! The LO rocks too!

Congrats on LOTD Jill - such a fantastic layout of a very handsome young man!:yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:
Congrats!!
He sure is a handsome young man and Jill, your blending layout is fabulous! Going to show this to my 16 year old DGD and try to do a scraplift. (Okay, Granny brag time) :love2::love2: Kelsey received straight A's and is on honor society, top of her class in biology and will attend "running start," a program where she attends high school and college classes her Junior and Senior year. She is following her sisters footsteps, who did the same. When she graduates from high school she will also receive her two year Associate degree from college. She wants to be a surgeon. We are going to her soccer game today. Kelsey still has a broken wrist but covers the cast with a protector on it football players use. For her spending money she referees soccer games.(Okay, Granny brag time over.) As often as possible, we go to lunch or breakfast together and talk about anything and everything. Grand kids are so much fun! :love3::love3:

Celibacy can be a choice in life - or it can be a condition imposed by circumstance.
While attending a Marriage Weekend, a couple listened to their instructor declare:
"It is essential that husbands and wives know the things that are important to each other."
He then addressed the men, "Can you name and describe your wife's favorite flower?"
Larry leaned over, gently touched his wife's arm and whispered lovingly, "Gold Medal All-Purpose, isn't it?"
And thus began Larry's life of celibacy.

Funerals?????? Does he officiate or does he just like to go to them, or are his friends all dropping off the perch.
In the olden days, the old ladies of the towns used to go to all the funerals and weddings, just for a day out. He aint getting like that is he?:lol::lol:
well this is a small village so everyone knows everyone and he has lived here all his life... plus he is getting old so yup everyone is dropping like flies. The week we got home from our Christmas trip he had funerals to go to for 3 days in a row. He averages at least one a month, often more. I usually only go to the family or close friend ones... I'm not big on funerals. Last one was a lovely memorial up the lake yesterday afternoon for spreading ashes of his ex brother in law.

that made me wonder if my name was free so I checked member list and there are a couple other mars but with numbers after the name. I am still the only 'Mars' but maybe I better grab the name before it's taken! I remember I was rather taken aback when we had a mars4554 posting for awhile. When you go through your whole life and very very rarely see your own name it's always a shock if someone else has it. I've only met one other one. I think it's one reason I wanted to give all my kids perfectly normal classic names.
I actually like that all my life I have never met another Mara face to face.

Suz - you left this comment on my layout:
I'm still amazed at your photos in dim light, probably incandescent - no color cast, no burn out from the flash! Perfect! The LO rocks too!
VentureTheater does not allow flash photography.
I'm telling you, I am a digital photography ding-dong. My photos look ok because of Alien Skin and Imageware Filters.
Geez! I'm really not deaf unless you've been talking to my DD! They are MORE than OK! I'd like to see a before and after - it might convince me that I need Alienskin too! And I have a birthday coming up! *hint* *hint*
OMG - JILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL HOLY SCHNIEKIESSSSSSS! OMG! That is an amazing layout - you GOTTA go submit that to mags!!!!
:rofl::rofl: Exactly what does this mean Suz!?!?!
thanks Suz I've jsut got off the phone from talking to Donn's sister and was kind of a good chat she is back at Donn's house sorting out stuff and she was saying how much of a giggle she was getting from reading all the cards I had sent too Donn in the past 11 years and I was saying eeeeeek I am embarrassed as something of them were VERY intimate and she was laughing and I said actually well why we discussing this I want to let you know there is a drawer in Donns bedroom that contains a giraffe and I am really blushing about it and she was so wonderful about it saying that her and her husband Mike also had some toys eeeeeek my face is burning up just typing this. I told her NOT to bother mailing the giraffe home. BTW for any who dont know what giraffe I am referring to ask Gail about her giraffe story.
OMG!!! So funny, but I'm sure embarrassing! I don't think any of us forget that story!!
Ohhh, I think I know what you are talking about. We had one that was an elephant and if you squeezed it's trunk.....it made this horrible screaching noise. I suppose it was supposed to sound like an elephant blowing his own horn, but it really was awful! We still have the elephant but he is tucked neatly into a drawer, hopefully his batteries are dead!! LOL:yikes::yikes:

I'm so sorry Inky... it's know it's incredibly hard to say goodbye to a beloved member of the family, especially when he has been with you so long... I believe they let us know when it's time.
I hear you too Inky! Our 12 year old lab, that was given to DD when she was 8 yrs old, has taken a sudden turn as well. She's been getting arthritis and moving slowly/having eating problems, but now she's limping. We finally had xrays done and the doc thinks it's just arthritis in her shoulder. However, a few days ago, I stepped out on the front porch and the phone rang. I turned around to go answer it without shutting the heavy doors. The screen door doesn't latch properly and both dogs can push it open. When I finished my phone call, I saw the door was open and went to close it. I noticed that Loki wasn't on her couch and not on the floor next to it. I went through the house calling her name - nothing. She's been acting like she wants out the front door for about a week now - we only leave through the front door when we're going somewhere with them - so she knows that she just doesn't go out that way. I grabbed my coat and keys and went outside to look for her not knowing how far she'd gone and convinced she had run off....to die. I got to the bottom of the front steps and there she was...standing on the sidewalk, looking up the street at some people and their dog. Whew!! DD would have never forgiven me!!
I got that dog for DD's 8th birthday because that's when I got my first dog, a poodle, that lived until she was 15 yrs old. She ran off one day and got taken in by a neighbor, but a month or so later, she ran off for good...I'm sure she just wanted to die and I wouldn't let her. I'm afraid that Loki is doing the same thing -- just tired of hurting, but I don't want to let her go just yet. I want her to make it to our new house because she just loves it up there...I just hope she will. :(:(

Thanks for all the kind words for Buster and Ryan. Buster has been feeling quite a bit better since he has gone on the blood pressure and fluid tablets, his problem was because his heart isnt functioning properly anymore it was causing fluid on his lungs and making him cough horribly all night - but all that seems to have settled down. He is funny though because he is nearly blind he cant see his little dog door anymore and because he is an inside dog and hates being outside we have to leave the door open all day and night for him so that he can get in and out of the house especially now that he is on those fluid tablets. He seems happy enough though and that is the main thing.

Welcome, Heidi. We will train you SOOOO well to be a Granny. There is a lot more than just cuddling grandbabies, but, of course, that is a big part. I know someone will jump in here with the rules about posting when you put a layout in the galleries, no drinking while reading the thread because of "spewing on your keyboard", um...well, I know there is more.

Hi Grannies. I have been struggling with blippy internet connections lately so I have had to settle for more sun. My last few days here on Maui are going way to fast. My mom has been hospitalized at home so I guess the timing is right for me to return home.
Sorry about your mom. Sending healing prayers your way.
Glad your getting some sun. We took our DGD's and families to the airport yesterday as they are going to spend some time in Hawaii. I was glad to receive a text message and pictures saying Andi and Dayton (great grandkids) did okay on the flight over. Love the cell phones with text messaging and pictures!:tup:
Looking forward to seeing your photos from Hawaii.:yes:

Welcome, Heidi.
 Poor baby. I am so glad he is better.
Sanra: I lost my quote, but I wanted to say what a great DGD you have and a smart one too.

Welcome Heidi, hop right on in and have fun...we always have chocolate, and now we have peanuts:D. You need to be able to speed read and you also need to have a cat or a dog on whom to blame the puddles under your computer chair that strangely appear after reading the funnies in the GT....oh, maybe those things dont happen until you reach Granny age:D:D...we teach you all about water NON-retention, wrinkles, saggy bits, memory loss and much much more during your GIT apprenticeship:D...dont forget to go to the first post and read the lovely poem posted by Kay which started the Granny Thread Phenomenon. Seriously the lovely ladies in this thread are the most loving and supportive people you would ever wish to "meet" and they have become as precious to me as my IRL friends.

You sure have a right to brag, she sounds amazing.

well this is a small village so everyone knows everyone and he has lived here all his life... plus he is getting old so yup everyone is dropping like flies.
That can get a bit depressing. Hope there are no more for a while. (or does he go for the wake?) ;)

(To MARA) but YOU have a beautiful name! and you probably didn't get negative comments about it.
You have a beautiful name too Mars, I love your name, it sounds very Nordic! I never liked my name at all, there was one girl at high school with the same name, and that is the only other Valerie I have met. Everyone else was Susan, Judy, Lynette, Linda, Sandra, etc, I think as I have gotten older I have grown into it. Mum named me after some old English actress Valerie Hobson. No one calls me Valerie anyway!

I had to listen to the theme song of the Maja the Honeybee Cartoon all my childhood, all the way up to 17/18.
the geniuses just changed the name *rolls eyes*
I found the intro on youtube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4T0KYPwLGs&feature=related
Maja the Honeybee was originally a German book, but the cartoon was made in Japan I think.
Welcome!!
That was a cute video. I think that was on tv here too, it looks familiar.
I love this one Mara!

Wow! Yep - I Googled it:
http://www.abc.net.au/gardening/stories/s972708.htm see the last line. But, some of what I read says it's only for plants in the ground apparently, not in pots. Oh well, that's just what I read. Hey - are you using seaweed extract? I am.
And: http://forums.vogue.com.au/showthread.php?t=202069
I had 9 flowers, and I have ended up with one very tiny lemon. It's about 1/5th of an inch long now.
- oh my gosh I have had it! Swimming carnival today. Awful bus ride to and fro. Staring hard at the water during the free time periods...

Hi all, I didn't get time to read through everything as we had the big family gathering this past weekend. My dad loved his book!
I saw cousins that I've seen probable 20 years ago, it was so nice and we chatted the hours away.
We also visited the old farm where my grandparents lived. My uncle told us a lot of stories about it. Its so sad that everything is falling down.
Congrats to Muma and JD. WEES and lots of hugs to those in need.

Leslie, I know what you mean about being exhausted after the swimming carnival. We are into our second week of swimming lessons - we go right in the middle of the day, so get barely anything done beforehand, then by the time we get back, have a late lunch etc the children are too tired /wired for anything else. I am so over sitting in a VERY stuffy, humid pool each day - roll on Friday!!! And I hate the bus journeys also.

We have been having some amazing sunsets the last couple of weeks because of the fires - there have been some new outbreaks again - so more worry for Victorians.
I caught this sunset from my front door this evening and have used it to do a scraplift the spotlight layout.

I heard on the news today that Waburton was evacuated. I have been there a few times to visit my uncle. He sold there a couple of years ago and lives in a retirement home at Yara Junction. Have my fingers crossed that no more homes or lives are lost.
I think most people are evacuating now after what happened a couple of weeks ago.

Ive just discovered a LO of mine is missing from my gallery...one from January last year. It was LOTD back then and I was going back through my gallery counting up how many LOTDs I had and this one wasnt there. I went back through the blog archives and, although the description, name and everything are all there, there is no image. I guess I must have submitted it to Inspiration Station (can't remember) and it got lost in that kerfuffle a while back...I hadnt noticed it missing before now. Ill have to upload it again, I rather liked it!

Just as well I have 3 boxes of waffles coming in my shopping this afternoon. Someone ate the last one last night and there were none for my breakfast. I had to revert to choking down a piece of toast again. No wonder I didn't even eat breakfast for ages, before I discovered the waffles.

I hope someone already left you the RULES! PQ gets the dues and you better do that quickly because she gets a "bit touchy" if you aren't timely. Remember to leave your links (and comment on others left) or Crys will track them down and then then you will be in deep dodo. Don't drink while reading, this is just to save you from having to buy a new computer when you laugh and spill.

Exercise For People Over 50
Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side. With a 5-lb potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides, and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax. Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato sacks.
Then try 50-lb potato sacks (I'm at this level) and eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato sack in each hand, and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each sack.

Can anyone see anything different about me??????????
Other than that cute boopy avatar? Love it! Just plain Ineke now!
I'll have to check it out.
When we got to this part of it, I was happy that I had made so many choices early in the design process. There were still so many to make that somedays I could not even choose which fast food resturant to hit on the way home from the build site.
Oh I wish someone had told me that! I've waited until the electricians needed to know where to put the boxes, which depends on what light fixtures we want. I got a design 2 months ago and it was way expensive. I sat on it until last week and now the electricians will be pissed if I change anything cuz they are almost done! I know it's going to be a problem when I order countertops and bathroom fixtures because they probably won't be here in time. Oh Dear!!!
 I have a whole one LOTD! ;)
I have a whole goose egg - 0!
That was great. DSP was nice and changed mine awhile back from sanra1940 to sanra. I didn't like being reminded how old I was all the time.:rofl:
Funny how we do that - I used to be hoozie46 because that's how old I was when I signed up for stuff. But I'm older now, so it doesn't make any sense!
Too often we lose sight of life's simple pleasures. Remember, when someone annoys you, it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown; BUT, it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and slap 'em upside the head.
Pass it on. . . . .

Every time I see your name, this is what runs through my head:
I said "Hello Debilou
Goodbye heart
Sweet Debilou
I'm so in love with you
I knew Debilou
We'd never part
So HelloDebilou
Goodbye heart"
(Yes, I know, it is supposed to be Mary Lou --- but I say Debilou)
That is toooo funny... I've had that nickname my almost entire life... and NO ONE
ever came up with that... I'll have to tell my husband, he'll laugh...
Debilou is not my real name... but it's been my nickname that has stuck with me says I was a little kid.. .I just can't believe no one ever thought of that before..
you're too funny...:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
And, so... he came in from outside... and I was laughing so hard.. he thought I was crying...

I hope all went well JD please nknow that we are all keeping good thoughts for you!
WOW am I blind, I didn't even notice.
That kerfuffle got about 40 of my LOs between the deleted IS and the lost Becky and Val Galleries. I think it would have killed me if it was an important one from my gallery but I have no important ones so ..........LOL
And they are all STUNNING!
We stopped making our own ice cream about 6 yrs ago when we realized it was coming out to about $15 a gallon between the heavy cream and good vanilla.
But you have HOF's DEAR!
:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
I agree with you!
Debi, this is great and you really are doing some so cool LOs lately!
WELCOME HEIDI,
we have lots of fun here, just keep your glasses perscription current to be able to read all of the posts and comment on all of the LOs that are brought here.
Seriously, disreguard what you want to, we don't care we just like to have fun!
Thanks, Chris! I sure am enjoying ready all the posts!!

Well, so much for play time! Hubby decided to roll in UNANNOUNCED at 3:45 pm today, so I had to rush around and help him 'unpack' before starting supper. Then I had to bathe the cat, who had escaped the confinement of the house last Tuesday night, and finally wandered her stuck-up butt home at 3AM Thursday/Friday!! :annoyed: Of course, being an indoor cat, she ended up with fleas. I'm kicking myself for not making Rhyan or Hubby take pictures of her pathetic self as I scrubbed her down in the kitchen sink. She was really pitiful. I think my SIL lied when she told me that Jeannie loves baths! But she DOES love being brushed, which I just got through doing. Now I'm exhausted, so I'm going to get in the shower so I stop smelling like flea shampoo and go to bed.
Glad to hear JaeDee is home safe & sound, if not comfortably. Hope the pain meds help take the edge off.
Time to tuck the kidlets into bed. Hopefully I'll be able to check in tomorrow, since Hubby played with his MP3 player & Napster while I did all the fun stuff around here this afternoon.

Doug and I were in church and the guy behind us was singing VERY loud and VERY off key. The longer the song went on, the louder and more off key he got. I finally got tickled - but Doug thought I was having some kind of profound spiritual moment - He thought I was crying because I was feeling so close to The Lord.............naw, I was laughing at the ding dong behind me.

You got me! :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

A man and his wife were awakened at 3:00 am by a loud pounding on the
door. The man gets up and goes to the door where a drunken stranger,
in the pouring rain, is asking for a push.
"Not a chance," says the husband, "it's 3:00 in the morning!"
He slams the door and returns to bed.
"Who was that?" asked his wife.
"Just some drunk guy asking for a push," he answers.
"Did you help him?" she asks.
"No, I did not, it is 3:00 in the morning and it is pouring rain out there!"
"Well, you have a short memory," says his wife. "Can't you remember
about three months ago when we broke down, and those two guys helped
us? I think you should help him, and you should be ashamed of
yourself!"
The man does as he is told, gets dressed, and goes out into the pounding rain.
He calls out into the dark, "Hello, are you still there?"
"Yes," comes back the answer.
"Do you still need a push?" calls out the husband.
"Yes, please!" comes the reply from the dark.
"Where are you?" asks the husband.
"Over here on the swing," replied the drunk.

Has anyone read Edgar Sawtelle? It's quite a good book - big book but hard to put down so you read it quick. :-)
I also recently finished Hannah's Dream and there was a phrase in it that I really liked: "Do you want a future or a past?"
One of the songs we are working on is a really pretty song by Hazel Dickens (she writes really great songs) called Let Me Go. It is about a man whose wife died and she comes to him in a dream and tells him to get up and make a new life. The other song we are working on is an old Scottish song called Coulter's Candy. I found one version of it that was pretty funny about a guy whose face was drawn and thin until he ate Coulter's Candy and now he has a double chin. :-)
If you know of any really neat but not well known old songs like this, please let me know.

Just as well I have 3 boxes of waffles coming in my shopping this afternoon. Someone ate the last one last night and there were none for my breakfast. I had to revert to choking down a piece of toast again. No wonder I didn't even eat breakfast for ages, before I discovered the waffles.
Remind me to tell y'all my librivox.org joke later.
I am planning a quiet day at school as yesterday was the swimming carnival, and today I expect them to be cranky and tired from it. So I anticpate being on here a bit! And as I'm rapt in Christine's new plopper - must work with it this morning!
Waffles??? Did somebody say waffles?? I like waffles.

My Mom was tone deaf and when we were kids it took everyhting we could muster to not laugh at her singing in church. One time she told the priest that she couldn't sing and you could see the light bulb going off over his head, (he must have wondered what all of the giggles were in our row over the years.) He said to her, "God gave you the voice you have and you need to sing out and send it back to his glory". needless to say my sibs and I thought he was crazy!
