I do love that inspiration photo!
How about. . .
a background with a texture like that aged wood on the barn, with green vines growing up it.

02-27-2009, 05:59 PM
I love these greens. Nice shades.
I agree that an aged wood texture would be nice. And if you look at the fence part in the photo, the wood has a nice green tint running through it. That could be nice.
And what about a paper with an all over dense green foliage look... like in the left side of the photo.... if that makes any sense.

Lauren
03-01-2009, 01:57 PM
It sure seems grey to me.......- but when i click on it with my colour picker it is in the blue palette but its very much on the desaturated side........ - so its grey in my designs
shawsi
03-01-2009, 02:38 PM
It doesn't matter. I actually chose it when I used the dropper because it had a blue tint to it. I thought it was different. But, the backgrounds are very nice.
I like the bark idea, but I also think it would be nice to have something a little more simple, like the dark blue/grey with tiny green specks...a linen look or even a harder surface look.
A soft mottled look in those colors would be pretty too.
The light green sponged with white would be nice...very little pattern.

using the dark blue-gray color - a background that like canvas or linen, that has some "threads" of the dark or medium green running through it
a background using the medium green that has water marks/ water stains on it... not sure if this idea is clear enough.... my thoughts aren't coming out well tonight.

For fear of getting too farm themed ...
how about a couple horseshoes, or maybe a wordy art, like the word lucky using a horseshoe as a letter.
Fur journaling, a really worn and weathered piece of leather, maybe with a few stray stitches?
3 strands of barbed wire fence going across the page, nice and rusty!
And speaking of barbed wire, there is a woman here in Iowa who makes "Art From The Farm (http://www.artfromthefarm.com/)" - barbed wire art for garden and home. Don't know if this inspires anything?

This is a great kit Lauren! Can't wait to get it in the store...unless I'm lucky enough to get it in the drawing! LOL! But I'm rarely lucky like that, so just hurry up and package that baby up! LOL!

You know how artists go through "periods", ie. blue period?
You must be in your "Forgotten Period." Should we be concerned about you, Lauren? Is it just cause it's March?
Maybe your next kit should be "Forgotten March!"

I love your layout with the greens contrasting with the silvered grey wood. I love greens myself. But then I am highly influenced by my mom's totally Irish blood line! I also love the subtle greens and greys in the wood above the water wheel. But please, no orange.
