Lisa, I really like that top swatch with the flowers in blues, yellows and white... looking at it makes me feel like growing my hair out longer, wearing sandals and flowing skirt or bell bottom jeans and flowery/embroidered gathered top or tye dye t-shirt, and playing 60's music...totally cool! makes it feel like early summertime too :)

so many pretty color swaches! I'm not going to submit a swatch this time...I tried to come up with one, but just couldn't figure out something I liked out of the color combinations I tried, and when I checked in here, I saw all the pretty swatches (and there might be more pretty swatches submitted) so I'm going to wait for the element part...looks like fun!

http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/data/500/swatch_31.jpg

You know, its 8 degrees out right now, and I feel like some Spring too!

Backgrounds 1st :D

idtwinmom
03-03-2009, 10:03 AM
I kept stopping at that one! Congrats Desiree!

Well, for backgrounds, I really think simpler will be better here! I love that orangish color on the end, it's unique and yet not overbearing! Maybe a corner pattern in it, swirls maybe, but not too girly, using the blue. Then tone on tone with the yellows (dark on light for this one), maybe a harlequin, but not straight. And a plain green with grunge made of the different colors along the edges, just a little!

(full of all kinds of ideas for this one!)

handkl
03-03-2009, 01:35 PM
For backgrounds:

1. Pink with a vertical line texture in the light yellow
2. Dark yellow with a grungy blue edge
3. Checker board with all the colours
4. Blue with corner scrolls in green

pinky7
03-03-2009, 01:45 PM
Then tone on tone with the yellows (dark on light for this one), maybe a harlequin, but not straight.

That was the first idea when I saw the color scheme! Tone on tone with the yellows, only I way thinking some kind of floral pattern (in keeping with Spring).

Florals would definitely work! Lots of florals, but not too bright for this one!

I'd love a blue background with a pattern of kites in the other colors, or perhaps wavy stripes sort of like kite strings with fraying bows like you'd find on a kite's tail.
Or a scattering of wildflowers on the green.

I just saw an article about houndstooth. Although traditional would be black and white, you could do that in the yellows and it would be quite unique! I even thought about stealing the swatch to see if I could make it, but of course, I know you could do it better.

1. Pink with a vertical line texture in the light yellow

Just bumping my earlier suggestions for backgrounds.

Tina

I actually swapped your suggestion, Hannah. The blue on the yellow was just WOW- eye popping.

Hope you like this anyway!

Those are great Tina!

I think a silky yellow fabric would be great (with the silky wave displacement map or whatever you use), like the one blowing on the clothes line in the swatch photo.

I have a request, because these threads tend to get lengthy, could you insert a preview of the swatch with the previews of the elements you're creating? (Like, put it directly on the preview) It makes it easier to remember what the colors are.

pinky7
03-06-2009, 10:26 AM
We need something yellow. I am for the tone on tone floral but flowers in the different colors or hounds tooth (I don't know what that is) is fine by me, just yellow please.

idtwinmom

Definitely green. Maybe with a lot of texture, or even embossed?

JenniferG
03-07-2009, 10:15 AM
How about a green fabric? Or, we could make this slightly easter-y and have a green background with egg shapes or easter eggs in the various swatch colors with flower outline designs on them...

pinky7
03-07-2009, 10:54 AM
That is pretty! Now definitely green! We don't have anything with a stripe, how about stripes?

idtwinmom
03-07-2009, 11:00 AM
Well, I don't usually ask for this, but how about the Green, with a little pinstripe of the light yellow or blue (I'm thinking the yellow might work better).

Tina
03-07-2009, 01:23 PM
I'm being bad and working today. I didn't get much done during the week this week tho... so...... what can ya do!

Anyhoo, here is paper #4. Elements?

idtwinmom
03-07-2009, 01:27 PM
WooHoo! That stripe is perfect!

This kit needs flowers with those great spring colors, but how about we do them like stitched embroidery instead of paper flowers. I don't know how Eastery you want to take it, but you could do a basket, but instead of an Easter basket you could do it more like the laundry basket that is in the image.

mcbowersox

A flower border or individual flowers in the same shape as the flowers on the yellow paper

Some sort of swirly flourish in a shape like on the pink paper. Chipboard maybe or paper? Something to layer behind photos.

A sprig of green leaves.

pinky7
03-07-2009, 04:16 PM
and a big floppy bow and ribbon!

How about a stoneware looking bookplate shape with ribbons on both ends that we can use for a date or name? It could be light colored with handpainted flowers in the other colors.

A piece of a quilt

Some beads connected with string.

A clothesline with sheets. We could journal on the sheets.

Buttons - aqua and yellow buttons

A redbud tree or a dogwood, Any kind of spring blooming tree

White picket fence.

handkl

Love the idea of a clothesline with pegs on it...we could hang a "sheet" or photos on it.

I would love to see a light yellow ribbon with dots on it in all the other colours.

Is it possible to have an overlay or an swirl element similar to the one on the pink background? If not, what about a spray similar to that swirl on the pink background - nothing sparkly though.

Love these ideas, especially the clothesline with pegs! Will those have to be 2 elements, or just one!

BTW - those flowers are fab!

Tina

Nicole's latest kit has a clothesline with pegs, so I'd rather not do that.

shawsi

How about a chicken?

An old fashioned washtub...maybe with suds or bubbles.

A washboard

idtwinmom
03-08-2009, 04:23 PM
Like the quilt idea, but also a fabricy journal piece, maybe frayed on the edge (although that is a lot of work, I know!) A frame made like the vine, maybe you could even have flowers coming out of it! Don't think I've seen any of those. The basket I mentioned earlier, like an old fashioned wicker laundry basket.

Raphne
03-08-2009, 04:44 PM
So pretty!
A hat and gardening gloves
Some blue flowers

Tina
03-08-2009, 06:24 PM
I did a few all at once. We have a storm moving in, so I wanted to work while I could.

I did the picket fence, the swirl like on the peach paper- not sparkley- just silver, and instead of a chicken, I did a lil yellow birdy. That's 9, we've got 3 to go.

Color swatch is still in the upper right hand corner.

idtwinmom
03-08-2009, 06:33 PM
Oh, adorable!

How about you make that basket into a birds nest! Kind of make a basket and then line it with something fluffy!

A frame, maybe paper, but still like the vine with a flower or two on it.

A journal mat, like the quilt idea that was mentioned earlier.

pinky7
03-08-2009, 09:12 PM
We need a frame (Maybe it should look like something that has been scrubbed!) and something to journal on. I was thinking of some pieces of fabric stitched down! I will let you pick the colors!

Tina
03-08-2009, 10:03 PM
Ok, here is where we are at. I took the silver swirl out, but I will PM it to those who posted in this thread after the kit is done.

The eggs were my idea. Those are individual to the nest, making a total of 7 (we only need 8 to complete the kit) elements now. They can be merged to make just 6 elements.

I took the ideas for a frame, but decided to match the picket fence.

Here is the current kit.

This is turning out so cute. I love it!

A aqua ribbon?

Maybe a few aqua flowers

Little music notes...they could be coming out of the bird's mouth...like he is singing

A butterfly

Still like the quilt idea

Maybe a little white sign, that could be journaled on...you know like that ones that usually say "for sale"

idtwinmom
03-08-2009, 10:11 PM
I like the birdhouse idea! Or you could do some sort of easter WA, don't have a clue what!

Love the frame! But then, that is why you are the designer!

Raphne

Tina, this is soooooo Cute! I love the little bird lol

I just feel like I want to see something blue with this. . . maybe some blue flowers, but somehow that doesn't seem as right anymore. . . maybe a blue hanky type element that could be a journaling matt, or a blue moth

Okey Dokey.

I merged the nest and eggs and added the music notes, as Shawsi suggested. They can be easily erased when using the kit if someone doesn't like them.

Then I added the blue hankie-ish mat & the title on the white clapboard.
