Today I have several swatches from Kuler. There is someone there whose user name is Kristi. She has some amazing color schemes. That must really be a gift.
Here are some of my faves:

That is one funky colour scheme!! I think you will have to make a flowery BG... How about pink daisies?
Raphne
03-07-2009, 05:50 AM
I really like that one!
How about a textured paper in the cream, smudged (maybe even grunged) with the brown, with just little bits of the orange?
shawsi
03-07-2009, 07:54 AM
How about a peach background...solid, but aged?
Peach with white stripes...kinda dry brushed. Maybe not all stripes are the same width, some might even be dotted.

03-07-2009, 08:29 AM
oh pink and dark brown is always a winner
solid brown BG
pink BG with tiny cream dots, like dotted swiss
cream BG with teeny tiny faded pink flowers,
or tiny dotted swirls of pink and blues

Lovely colour scheme!
That is one funky colour scheme!! I think you will have to make a flowery BG... How about pink daisies?
Oh yes there needs to be a flowery background.
How about a textured paper in the cream, smudged (maybe even grunged) with the brown, with just little bits of the orange?
I second this suggestion...I this background looks awesome in my head.
What about a pink and brown background of some sort...perhaps solid pink with a brown swirl or two OR solid pink with different size dots in brown and different shades of pink.
MurlieMac
03-07-2009, 09:49 AM
Yeah! You chose one of mine. I'm so happy, my sister is going to make a quilt for my DG to be with some of this fabric. I can't wait to see what you do with it!
I really like that one!
How about a textured paper in the cream, smudged (maybe even grunged) with the brown, with just little bits of the orange?
I too think this would be an awesome BG

I think she's right. A brown BG with tiny pink daisies, maybe fading in and out

Awesome choice Lauren! I think we need a background that looks like the photo in the swatch. Either a large or small pattern.

what about a paper using the teal with the "leaves" shape/design (that is on the floral paper) stamped on to it lightly in the cream?

Ooooo, so pretty! But now I'm torn. . . with that brown, as iwuvpsp said, pink and brown are a winner, so I can really see a mostly pink background with this now, more easily than the teal. Still like the tone on tone leafy swirl idea though!
JenniferG
03-09-2009, 01:44 AM
I definitely think a teal background would finish this off nicely. Something fabric textured.
Lauren
03-10-2009, 02:16 AM

Ooooh, I like the teal. It helps bring the teal color out of the floral background.
what about a chipboard frame in the cream color, but worn/grunged up on the edges using the brown?
dinaben99
03-10-2009, 06:21 AM
how about a cluster of flower shaped buttons to coordinate with the background paper
sueya
03-10-2009, 07:13 AM
I'd like to see some fabric flowers or some stitched flowers
Perhaps we could have a row of fabric flowers which are stitched together!
MurlieMac
03-10-2009, 08:10 AM
I think paper flowers
a chipboard frame (like newbienfr said)
brown leaves (like in the pattern)
some type of orange ribbon.
stitchmich
03-10-2009, 08:39 AM
I think it needs stitching...
stitched flowers like sueya suggested
a stitched border, either zig zag, straight or random with some loops but going the width of the page.
a paper frame with stitches holding it down.
pinky7
03-10-2009, 09:36 AM
I had such fun using the brass ring in the Boho Hobo kit, I am into rings. So I want a ring, pink grunged in color, with swirl on it!

This is awesome. I love that flowered paper. Anyway I would love to see some layered flowers... I love those that are circle upon circle that the edges curl in a bit. Or even in the shape of the paper but layered.
JenniferG
03-10-2009, 10:49 AM
I think a gold swirly ornate frame would be awesome....wonder if a flower shaped frame would look good....?

Like a rag bow
Raphne
03-10-2009, 05:07 PM
Love the depth of color in those flowers, Lauren!
How about a leafy vine in the brown, with small flowers in the other colors scattered in
A spill of simple flowers, like the white ones in the inspiration photo?
newbienfr
03-10-2009, 05:15 PM
cool flowers!
what about using the leaf shapes (from the floral background) and some wire to create a frame?
JenniferG
03-10-2009, 05:24 PM
How about a gold frame that looks like this:

honeymoon

Absolutely loving this.
What about a hexagonal chipboard frame.
Or a set of three small flower frames that hang from the top of the page.
Piece of cream card with ribbon threaded/woven down the side of it and knotted top and bottom.
Brown felt leaves, but a bit like the picture, so they are cut out and only have the spine and veins remaining (if that makes sense).

Gosh, Lauren, I love those flowers!
I'd like a brown ribbon with little pink, orange & teal flowers alternating on it, like the small flowers in your floral BG paper.
For all who asked fora ribbon- dotted checked patterned and otherwise - I tried several patterns and frankly I think this kit is too busy to cope with any more patterns so i stuck with a plain brown ribbon

Well, after I got to thinking about the ribbon, picturing it in my mind over the floral paper, I thought it might be a bit too much...Thanks for the brown ribbon, though, I think it will look great! I like that knot and the ends that slant like that!
MurlieMac
03-12-2009, 02:41 PM
hanging "button" flowers in pink and aqua
a scalloped border to match the frame
how about a pin to attach the fabric flowers
JenniferG
03-12-2009, 02:57 PM
Plain is definitely best, Lauren! Love the kit so far. We need some gold bling on string, kind of loopy (like me)
sandygb

I love the brown leaves you have in the floral paper. How about a cluster of brown leaves done sort of like a swirl.

I love your strips of fabric with stitched button holes. Maybe the strip of fabric could be cream color, with turquoise stitching on the edges of the strip and also for the stitching on the button holes. Then a separate button that is inspired by the turquoise center of the flowers so we can add buttons along the strip where we choose.

WOW! We're stuck! How is your hair, Lauren??
yes I will probably make this my last one of these for a while. Fewer and fewer are participating and seems like most of the designers are doing them so there are others for those who still like it so it's time to give mine a rest and go back to designing the old way.!!!
sandygb
03-14-2009, 11:44 AM
Aww....but this one is my favorite......
That's okay. The designs you come up with on your own are always spectacular!!!
Lauren
03-14-2009, 11:52 AM
Yeah I enjoyed it but seems like it's run it's course. It's only a handful participating now.I need to come up with something else new and exciting, but can't think of it right now
JenniferG
03-14-2009, 12:15 PM
Wonder what you'll come up with?
I haven't participated much in this one because I have NO idea what else should go with it. Some swatches seem to be harder to get ideas for than others, you know? But the fewer people participate, the better our chances of being a random winner of the kit; good for us, bad for you, right? LOL.
I will miss Clue, but I can't wait to see what you come up with that's new and exciting. Maybe we could have a challenge about suggestions for something new and exciting.

sandygb
03-14-2009, 01:06 PM

I really enjoy Gimme a Clue and read all the posts, but sometime (alright most of the time) I'm at a loss of what would be really good in the kits, sorry I'm not much help. I understand the need for you to make a change though, thanks for all the fun!

mcbowersox

WOW! I go away to Carcassonne for a few days and I miss everything.
Lauren - I'm sad to hear that this will be your last one. I've loved participating in these, even if I don't have a lot of ideas.
This kit turned out great!!!!
Name? What about Groovy Garden?

And I run off to get a daughter to find my favourite challenge is disappearing! This is the 1st page I turn to when I visit dsp but if you gotta change, Lauren, you gotta change. I will be eagerly awaiting your new idea and your new kits - when I have some cash!

Beautiful kit... so sorry to hear it is the last one but I am glad I got to join in while it was going... can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeves... :)

Might I be so bold as to make a suggestion? (OK, can I timidly request something?)
Yesterday I purchased three kits from the Gimme a Clue series. Can you tell that I love them?
Here's my suggestion: after the kit has a name, could the thread be edited to include the kit name?
Thank you ... and now back to my quiet corner.
