Let's go again - this is way too fun to quit now!!!

How it works - you propose a color scheme by posting one below - up to seven colors if you are pulling it from a photo. I do like to see the photo too - because for my last few, it has set the "flavor" of the kit with everyone pitching in ideas out of the picture as well.

I choose a scheme and then you give me suggestions for backgrounds; I add those and on to the elements for the same plan. Then at the finish, everyone who made suggestions that I chose will get the kit free!

Ready...steady...GO!

Yeah! Any themes in mind?

Well, I did have a suggestion by a member - but I'm checking with her on that - meanwhile, this can be anything you want it to be. What I need is a kit to give out at bingo next week!!!

Oh... I did love that one, stitchmich - almost forgot about it! I meant to use it anyway - shall we just go ahead and call it good? I'll pick out one or two more colors in it, yes, and we'll get started.

Thanks, happybeingamom! I really like yours too - what cute photos! I just had said I was going to use the other one and should have just started with it! I so forget things.

It reminds me of Summer and Fun...

Could the pink or rose be picked out of there too...

Now, like the birthday one, I'm going to reserve those three minimal colors from the swatch as minimal colors in the kit - so the main will be that gorgeous buttery ivory with the reds, oranges, and greens. If I need a teeny tiny accent color I'll grab the pink or purple, but you mostly won't see them. No use asking for a bright pink background, lol.

So what shall I start with?

Love the colours!

I'll second Pinky's request for a funky dot background!

I would love to see a red background with the orange and cream smudged into it.

Green background in a linen texture.

Cream background with funky swirls and circles around the edge in red and orange - swirls and circle similar to the one at the top right of your Freestyle Frames Pak (http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_86&products_id=9153).

I'd like a solid of some kind...(I'm partial to the green and the ivory)...what about a corrugated one.

what about an off circle (like in the picture) frame in the light cream color with the different colors as little beads on the frame.well I guess this would have to be for when we get to the elements. Don't know where my head is at this morning.

stitchmich

I like the water-colory feel of the swatch. How about the light creamy color as the main color for one BG with splotchy, painterly effect like the BG in the swatch.

Then maybe an all out water color paper in one of the darker colors, either the greens or the red/orange.

I agree that we need a funky dot BG of some sort.

And the bottom right dot in the swatch has some tiny flowers. I'm thinking a paper with tiny flowers and dots, not too dense.

bludlfn003
03-18-2009, 07:43 AM
what about a gingham with the darker red and the lighter orange, maybe with the paper all crinkled up.

debilou
03-18-2009, 07:45 AM
How about a Green paper with the 2 greens... maybe like a gradient between the two

and, soft flowers, butterflies or swirles on this paper...

then if we could have a rose paper... could we have it like more textured... and then lightly stamp the very bottom with like gerber daisys - just like 6 to 7 of them - like an outline of a daisy stamp... They would say start out larger on the side - a little smaller in the middle... hope that makes sense.

WEll, I was going to say look what I accomplished while you all were still asleep, but looks like some of you woke up before I got finished! lol...

I went the circle look as suggested by Hannah - from the comment about the freestyle frames. I thought that would look cute with pinky's funky dots and mcbowersox' stripes! The red is Hannah's "red with orange and cream smudged in" although it's mostly red.

I can't do a background like the swatch - that's someone else's design, but I do love it!

OMGosh Z! Those papers are awesome! I love all of them. I really like the swirls and circles.

I'd say a solidish orange or purple. Like maybe with tone on tone stripes or something?

I kind of have a thing for dangles and I was thinking maybe a series of button dangles in different colors?

stitchmich
03-18-2009, 08:52 AM
:yahoo::yahoo: WOW! Those papers are fantastic! You're a genius! I LOVE the little concentric (?) circle, swirly things. Can we pleeease get a separate element with those? Sort of a cluster that you can stamp behind a photo or in a corner or where ever. For the last paper I was thinking the lighter color, but I don't know anymore. You've got my mind reeling with those papers  And I see buttons on the swatch so for elements let's do some buttons. Maybe a torn paper corner.

LOVIN' the papers Z!!
I do think we need a somewhat plain solid still...definitely a bit grunged on the edges with one of the other colors.

mariafer
03-18-2009, 02:14 PM
I like mcbowersox's ideas for the papers...

so I thought I would leave an idea for an element.

I am in love with those felt and paper cutout borders that are popular in the paper scrapbk world and would love some digitally and I think this kit would be perfect for them. Some swirl and flowers or leaves.

I also think a tree would be cool. Like the dots in the paper as leaves and maybe some buttons like the ones in the inspiration piece too.

if not some paper swirls with buttons would be cool.

Loving the paper so far.

Elisabeth
03-18-2009, 02:39 PM
I agreed on having one more cream - since the cream doesn't show much on the funky dots. And I edged it with the grunge (white grunge) and the stamp pattern.
I thought flowers and butterflies were a little too delicate for what I had started here, thought the heavier circles and such would overpower them.

Now, how do you like your buttons? I saw "dangly" and "paper swirls with buttons" - I will give something a try - anyone want to be a tad more specific? I'm not sure I'm seeing them in my head and I don't want to disappoint.

Oh My Gosh! I have to miss one day and look the papers are all done!

I would love to see some more of the orange, maybe you can use that as the frame and make it funky circles! And then you could do flowers in the different colors (just a little of those reserved colors mixed in), but instead of regular flowers make them like a kid cut them from construction paper. They would be more circles glued together like (hope that makes sense, cause it would be ultra cute and funky!).

stitchmich
03-18-2009, 03:44 PM
I like mariafer's idea about felt. A felt border would be cool. I'm imagining a zigzag edge or maybe a curvy, wavy edge would fit better. Then maybe a roundish piece of cut out felt with a button on top and sewed or tied onto the felt with piece of string or thread in the holes. I hate trying to describe pictures in my head  And perhaps a pair, with different color felt and buttons.

Z, I had to chuckle when you said "I don't want to disappoint". Trust me... that can't happen! I'm in love with this kit already

Ohhh..love the cream bg, Z!

Buttons, buttons, who has the buttons...

On the swatch, in the wonky red circles are what appear to be buttons. Some thing like those, in the different colors or even in the wonky shapes! I like the idea of dangling them from thread, but the may be more versatile if they are as is, without attached thread, imo. Or what about a wonky "line" of buttons--with a bit of space between each---in place of a ribbon?

Have you heard of/seen those whodunnit party games? You can buy a "game" and play it with friends at a party...it's role playing...everyone is a character, comes in costume and plays their part while you try to figure out whodunnit.
Well, anyway, someone on a "potter" forum tinkered with one to make it for an online party, and all the characters and such were from harry potter...

Elisabeth
03-19-2009, 12:18 PM
Yes, and Ife is one of the moderators. I used to be one, but had to give it up to hang out here more. Actually I think she is an officer.

I played Ron in the first murder party, and he was really sort of a Frankenstein's monster - put together with body parts from several different people, and he didn't have a whole lot of control over some of the parts. Just-pjz was the murderer!!!

Draco was the host for the dinner party and Harry and all his friends were the guests. It was fun. I think they did more after that one, but by that time I was installed as a designer here and didn't have a whole lot of free time for playing on other forums. It's the Sirius Black fan site - Immeritus. Ah, good times.

Okay, I'l look over the suggestions here again and go get another cup of coffee!!!! Or maybe that same in reverse order....

I did the frame earlier and started on Carolyn's suggestions, but didn't post before I had to run out of the house on an errand. Then I spent the rest of the afternoon going through some stuff in my dining room. Not great progress, but a little.

I did a stamp frame because you can change it to any color, and I like them because you can turn them up on end too without worrying about where the shadow is.

Now I'll get back on that other...

Looking fun and funky! But I am so tired I have to go to bed! Did you see what I bribed you with on the DET round 3 chatter thread, Z? http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showpost.php?p=639313&postcount=184

LOL Pinky! You are brilliant!

Z, this is just delightful! Must be a good sign when I look at what you have and think "wow, what more could I want?" lol

But, after a lot of thought, maybe thumbtacks? The kind with plastic colored tips? Why it seems to me that yet one more fastener would be fun is perplexing even to me, but there it is!

Maybe a vertical length of threads, in all the colors, snarled up and "wonky" lol

I still think you need an overlay... hopefully in the rose...

And, to go with the flowers... I was hoping that if I broke them apart...

There would be something in the kit, I could use as a stem... it could be part of other element... like a butterfly trail ... or something like that...

But, I love make little flower gardens.. and the buttons and the flowers would make EXCELLENT flower gardens, but I need something to be the STEM...

Lots of great ideas here. I like pjz's ricrac idea. Debilou said journal strips. I can see them tacked down with one of those buttons.

LOVE all the suggestions! Isn't one I don't like..glad your the designer, ie the decision maker. ;)

debilou! Flower gardens are so cute...you could always recolor the wonky x stitches to a green, reduce 'em, erase some and use those as stems....in case nothing else pops in that works.

And, uh, don't be surprised if I make stems like that! LOL!

how about some wonky straight stitches that go all the way around the page. Debilou could use a section for a stitched stem.

Pinky, you are such a naughty girl :D

I saw no reason not to give debilou her flower garden - I saw one thing waaaay back I'm going to hunt down and make, something about journalling strips hanging down... then we may be done.

Sorry Lisa, didn't see that before fixing up the hanging buttons and journalling strips - these are separate, in case you want to use the hanging thing by itself.

So we have:
four backgrounds
pair of flowers
frame
strip of flowers
set of buttons
hanging buttons
strips
raggedy cloth
wonky stitches
no name

ok Z yep your the person responsible for getting Donn and I drive all the way to San Antonio as when I saw this layout when you posted it in April 2008 Donn and I both decided right then to go to San Antonio just to see the hippos I had since forgotten whose layout it was that made us want to go so thank you as I totally loved it.
and for the record my pics are no better than yours so far the only hippo pic I have scrapped is this one tho I did take about 200 so I must do some more layouts and sort through all the pics I took that day
