Hi!

A friend of mine is having a baby boy and she has decorated the nursery in pale yellow, sage green with splashes of red. The basic theme is music and the wall art is vintage children's LP's (records).

As a gift, I would like to make a baby memory book for her. The type where she would record the baby's statistics and milestones for the first 5 years.

I am looking for ideas for page themes as well as page kits to use. Does anyone have a template for a record to incorporate?

Thanks!
Lisa

Lauren's Retro Jive Kit has a vinyl record album element, along with other cool pieces.

I searched "music" in the store and came up with 3 pages of stuff, some of them looked pretty cool. Maybe some of the CD case albums would work?

Thank you! The vinyl album is just what I was looking for.

Now I need to consider page themes.

I'd go to the bookstore or a baby store and look through the baby books they have there. Then you can get a whole host of ideas of other things to include. Make sure to include some blank pages for whatever photos/journaling she wants as well.

That is just what I was going to say!! Sounds like a great project, and something that will be such a personal gift!

For a friend when she had her baby I made a lunchbox with dividers and each divider had just a place to record baby's info for that month plus weight and height. I didn't do it digitally (well I have done 2 and one of them the whole back was with digital stuff). Anyway I think I have a picture on my blog.

Here it is...

Mariafer...what a lovely gift you made.

Tina and Tara thank you for the page ideas...I would like to incorporate the music theme to each of these traditional pages.

I was thinking of doing a "Billboards Top Ten List" for each month and other themes of this sort. Maybe some play on words with song names, artists etc...

As you can tell, all I have are rough ideas right now...good thing I have 3 weeks to finish this (including ordering the printed book!)

The Billboard Top 10 is a great idea! Maybe you could also have a page for "favorite lullabyes" - - either ones the baby seemed to like/were calming or ones the parents liked to sing, etc.

Maybe you could create some word art/titles with the lines from popular baby songs or from classic songs.

I love the idea of using song titles or lines from songs...only problem is that I keep coming up blank.

My friend is a music junkie and I am more of a top 40 pop person. I am having trouble coming up with relevant (to quote American Idol) song quotes. I'd love to quote The Beatles or Rush as I know these are old faves of hers....any and all suggestions are welcome.

I would Google the band name for the song titles, then you could Google the specific song + "lyrics". You would be surprised what you can find.

Kids songs that come to mind:
Twinkle Twinkle
Puff the Magic Dragon
ABC's

Oh, too many to list......

The Beatles:

"All My Loving"
"And I Love Her"
"Birthday"
"Blackbird"
"Cry Baby Cry"
"From Me to You"
"Getting Better"
"Good Day Sunshine"
"Good Morning Good Morning"
"Good Night"
"Hello Little Girl"
"I Want to Hold Your Hand"
"In My Life"
"Lady Madonna"
"Little Child"
"Penny Lane"

Yes, I'm a classic rock junkie.

My son and dil used "The cow jumped over the moon" as the theme for their first child, a boy. Since then, they have used it for the next three children. So, on one of the hand made pages of the scrapbook for the first boy, I used the words from that nursery rhyme: "the cow jumped over the moon". Nursery rhymes make good titles for pages.
