it was mentioned that Picasa 2 has trouble viewing .png files...so true. You should try upgrading to Picasa 3 - that pesky problem has been solved.
Thanks for sharing your organization method...I always find it interesting to see how others do this.

If I have Photoshop Elements (it has an organizer) is it still worth using Picasa?

Yes, Rebekah, if you use the Organizer in PSE, it will eventually slow down your photo editor when you have a lot of pics/scrapbook items tagged in it. I would recommend using another organizing system, Picasa, being one of them. The great thing about it is that it is free.

okay. I think I'll head over and pick that up then. Or, maybe I'll get it after I get some sleep lol
The great thing about Picasa is it's super, it's fast, it's free and they update it pretty frequently :) .. can't lose with that!

Hey! I was one who requested this, too....I thought this was going to be in the tutorials, and then I couldn't remember who had said they would do it (from the chat) as a lot of people are tagging photos.
I'll look at it as soon as I wake up tomorrow -- thanks Neko!!

I recently came across a tutorial about using Windows Live Photo Gallery... some of the positives were compelling but there was no comparison w/ picasa
Anyone know? Or is there another thread about it?
Thanks
Jessica

Oh, this might be helpful.... the feature that impressed me was:
Tags are written into the files, not into a database as is used with other programs. What does this mean for you? This means that all the time and effort in tagging will not be lost should you have a computer crash, mess up your database, or move your files outside of the program. That is a huge benefit! In addition, it works with .png files as well as .jpg files.
Is this true w Picasa, too? I was using PSE organizer and it stopped working ( i can still do it and see, but it cant backup anymore) so I need to switch to something pref. free
