Lauren put a great review on her blog (http://create4u.blogspot.com/2009/04/review-wacom-intuous-4-tablet.html) about the new Wacom Intuous 4 Tablet. I've seen it, and been tempted!

A couple questions, for either Lauren or others who have the new tablet.

What tablet did you use previously? Do you find you really use the different nibs? Sounds like the pen itself, in hand comfort, is much better (my point of reference is the Intuous 3, which I don't think of as very comfortable to hold, let alone use the rocker switch) - yes?

Two questions here:

1) Does Wacom ever put their products on sale?

2) During one of the birthday chats, there was a brief discussion of how people had programmed the keys of their Wacoms. I'd appreciate knowing more about that if anyone is willing to share.

Yes, Wanda, they do put their tablets on sale. I just got a Wacom 3 last month at $20.00 off the price with a $40.00 mail in rebate. I was able to get it from Amazon even cheaper. It was $159 (with mail in rebate); regular price $229.00. At the time, there was a sale on only two of the tablets. I don't know the answer to how to program the keys. I am so far using them the way they came programmed. I'm going to take the Tablet class at DSU in May so I can learn more about how to use it.

I had a graphire 3 before - and there is a huge difference. I havent played with the new nibs yet but Ive heard from others who have who think they are great .
I like the pen a lot - its quite comfortable to hold and the rocker switch is easy to get to - I use my forefinger but you could roll it around and use your thumb if you wanted..
Previously I do have to say that I didnt use the tablet as much as I really thought I would as I just didnt find it as comfortable as the mouse is in my hand ( I do invest in a very high quality ergonimic mouse though) and also I hated swapping from pen to keyboard to mouse all the time. I find now that I rarely have to use the keyboard with the new format for the express keys .
I do still use the mouse for regular non design work though.

The intuos 4 allows you to programme the keys differently for every application you use if you wish - and it has an lcd screen to the right of the keys which tell you what youve programmed each key for because that would be very hard to remember otherwise .My previous tablet didnt have as many express keys - this one has 8 - I have so far just programmed it for photoshop - and then for everything else.

My DH, got my Wacom Intuos (the 4 x 6 )at a much cheaper price.. at Best Buy by taking the Costco price tag in with him...printed from the Internet.

They lowered the price to the Costco price... he had to talk to the store manager to do this...

He's also done this at Office Depot...
Of course my DH used to do major contracts for a major Bank for a living before retirement and he takes this as a challenge (and Costco is 45 minutes away)...

He also got Best Buy to lower their price on my Camera (Canon Eos 40D) and Lens - all at different times... not a bundled deal...

Sometimes to the costco price - sometimes just lower..

As far as the 3 nibs... - I have them... I've seen them demonstrated... but I've yet to use them... bad me.... I just use the one single one.

And my keys are just programmed the way they were set at the factory.

newbie jumping in here...

I have a Wacom Bamboo (small). I can't afford anything big and fancy, but I find this works just fine for my current needs.

I have my 2 buttons on the pen itself programmed as "click" and "undo", the two things I use the most. Having "undo" at my fingertips saves me SO much time!

So what would I want if I wanted to extract and do OOB's and stuff? Would the Bamboo be enough or not? I have no idea what to look for, but have heard these are awesome.
