Christine

I couldn't decide what to do next, so make sure to vote for your favorite. :D
First we have the bright, funky, and slightly outrageous: Mad Max.

Second, we have a more rustic kit with an outdoors-y feel. Perfect for family memories.

Hmmmmmmmmmm.....I'll have to put some thought into that. The insurance adjuster is here right now climbing around on my roof, taking photos. The day the storm hit, my car was (of course) in the shop and I called the service department and told them to make sure it was not out in the hail. I guess they did since I couldn't find any hail damage on it. Maybe I should have let them keep it outside - one more reason they need to take it back. Today's the big day that I get to state my case to GM. Wish me luck.

Hi Chris... how is your day!
My day has been HECTIC! I had to take Joshie over for an entrance testing thing, he did great and got accepted, so yay! Did laundry, grocery shopping, spent forever over at Graywhale, and made half a flower for my newest kit. LOL Did you all know that you can sell CD's and video games etc back to them? They don't give you much for them, but I had a bunch of CD's that I don't do anything with anymore, I traded them for 2 new (to them) games for the kids. I was just going to toss them or give them to goodwill anyway, so I figure bonus for me. Now I have to get ready for Young Women's tonight, make dinner, got to YW and sometime maybe finish my flower and my kit. LOL After the flower, I only have 3 more items to go. MAN!!!! You should see the bunny in the kit! So dang cute, don't mind me saying so!

I got my vehicle back from the service dept today. They fixed something on it, but said they aren't entirely convinced that is the problem since they couldn't make it reproduce the knocking noise while they had it. Naturally. Then GM called me a couple hours later and I was all geared up for the call, but the girl said she was under the impression that the car was still in the shop, so she couldn't talk to me about it until she called and talked to the service department first, so she would do that then call me on Friday. (insert deep sigh here)
The insurance adjustor said the roof is definitely totalled. It has $14,000 worth of damage!
And to top off this day, I had a wreck back in Sept for which I was getting chiropractic care for 6 months for, and the guys insurance who hit me called me today and told me they were only going to pay for 2 months of the treatment, so I had to talk to my insurance company and we are going to have to fight that. So, yay. :(:(:(
Anyway, DH just got home, so I am going to go watch a Matthew McConaughey movie with him and unwind.

Segway PT
Rider on Segway i2 Personal Transporter
Type Electric vehicle
Wheels Two
Inventor Dean Kamen
The Segway PT is a two-wheeled, self-balancing electric vehicle invented by Dean Kamen. It is produced by Segway Inc. of New Hampshire, USA. The name "Segway" is a homophone of "segue" (a smooth transition, literally Italian for "follows"). PT is an initialism for personal transporter while the old suffix HT was an initialism for human transporter.
Computers and motors in the base of the device keep the Segway PT upright when powered on with balancing enabled. Users lean forward to go forward, lean back to go backward, and turn by using a "Lean Steer" handlebar, leaning it left or right. Segway PTs are driven by electric motors at up to 12.5 miles per hour (20.1 km/h). Gyroscopic sensors are used to detect tilting of the device which indicates a departure from perfect balance. Motors driving the wheels are commanded as needed to bring the PT back into balance.

Segway PTs are driven by electric motors at up to 12.5 miles per hour (20.1 km/h). Gyroscopic sensors are used to detect tilting of the device which indicates a departure from perfect balance. Motors driving the wheels are commanded as needed to bring the PT back into balance.

Not to be confused with segue.

You generally don't own it because it costs THOUSANDS of dollars... which I know you would rather us spend buying your kits.
But, they are in every tourist area of the country..
And, it allows you to get around quickly in those areas...

Yes, we are going to have one.. FullTimeRVer (Karen) is running the show - I'm the helper... along with Scamp(x) (sp??), and Rene has offered to help too... you know those Texans, we all just pitch in...
It's probably going to be December 4th and 5th... we haven't announced it yet because we are still checking things out...
But basically we are going to hang out around the downtown Riverwalk area, which is a walk away from the Alamo, very close to the Missions, the San Fernando Catherdral, Mi Tiera (Mexican Market Place and FOOD), etc, etc.)..
We are NOT going to SCRAP, but rather do a photo walk, have games and prizes maybe.. and eat, and have a lot of fun.. so there, want to come...
oh, and we want to ride Segway's... there our plan so far...
And, I haven't told her yet, but will soon.. but Elizabeth Weaver lives there... so, you could meet her...
It will be just be so much fun..

When DH and I saw Celine Dion on our wedding night, the second she walked on the stage I had tears running down my face! I have always loved her music and was so excited to see her. But also I had been a cry baby all day because I was just so happy. DH looked at me and said, "I knew you were going to cry when she came out." Don't tell him I told you, but when he was about to read the vows he wrote for me, he choked up and couldn't get the words out at first. Ok, Debi. We're back from Cats. I enjoyed it, but didn't LOVE LOVE LOVE it. DH didn't like it I think. The problem I had with it was there seemed to be so much of JUST ballet and not much character development. Plus during the first 1/2 of it, I had a hard time understanding the words to the songs they were singing, so that didn't help. I think I understood what it was supposed to be about - the cat Deuteronomy was supposed to choose one of the cats to have more than 9 lives? So the play was about all the different types of cats?
Anyway, there are 4 shows that come to Lubbock every year. The 2009-2010 season will have Mamma Mia, The Wizard of Oz, Tuna Does Vegas (don't have a clue what that's about) and All Shook Up (a play set to Elvis music), so at least 3 of those sound good, so we may look into getting season tickets. We'll see.

San Antonio will be a good place for your first trip to TX. It's a lot of fun and has lots to do. The River Walk is gorgeous decorated for Christmas.
How old was your DH's daughter when she passed away. That is so sad. I can not imagine.
I am very blessed because my DH loves to travel as much as I do, so we go somewhere every chance we get. It's fairly easy for us since 2 of the kids are grown (and I use the term "grown" very loosely when talking about DS!) and the youngest one lives with her mom and is only here every other weekend, so we are pretty much empty nesters. We are thinking of taking the RV to Cloudcroft NM in a couple of weeks if we get unbusy enough at work. We like to do that and just get away from it all, no cell phones, no work, just us and the RV and nature.

Oh, Rene, sounds ideal!!
Our nest, of course, is entirely empty, but all our travel either involves kids, grandkids, or like I said, a boat and a fishing pole!
Angela was killed in an automobile wreck at the age of 42. Very tough times. It was in March of 2004 and her dad had just retired the October before. The old KY boy is certainly not in touch with his feelings and pined for her death for a very long time. It just broke my heart to come home from work and see him sitting in a chair, day after day. This man does NOT sit, from before sun up till after sun down.
But, of course, his grief had to follow a course and eventually he was able to lift himself out of it.
The saddest of all is that her *branch* of the family has disintegrated. She definitely was *the tie that binds*. She was the grandmother of DH's great-grandkids, who we now seldom see. There are 6 of them, with a set of twins on the way. So sad.

That is such a sad story Crys. Bless his heart. Like I said before, I absolutely can not imagine losing a child. It's even more sad that the family on that side has fallen apart and your hubby doesn't get to see his great grandchildren. I'm so sad for you both.
One thing I've learned about grief after losing my parents is that everyone handles it their own way and at their own pace. What's right for one person is not right for another person.
It's been 4 years since Mother passed away and 3 years since Daddy, and just yesterday afternoon I was almost in tears seeing a picture of my dad that Lisa Wingate had used in a layout she did. Here's the link:

You're both right, Rene and deb, it is too sad.
I loved Angela as though she were my own daughter and we had a wonderful relationship. But, I'll tell you one thing (especially for you, Rene), this is one ramification of propping your children up time, and time again. Both her children wanted to be *grownups* from very young ages. Each time they failed, mommy and daddy bailed them out and never made them live up to their responsibilities. Over and over again. Now, the daughter (the one expecting twins) is on her 3rd marriage, at the age of 29. Four children, three dads. Her son, at the age of 27, has four daughters, 11, 9, 6, and 2; can't keep his pants zipped, no matter who comes along; can't keep a job; can't pay his bills; can't live in any one house too long; doesn't pay his taxes and is not responsible for anything. And it's ALWAYS someone else's fault!

Sounds familiar. DH and I have come to a final decision about what we are willing to do for DS. I will feed him and pay for storage for his furniture, that's it. Mostly because I bought all the furniture, microwave, computer, etc. He is now for sure out of money, and rent was due Friday. He has no money for gas, and will soon run out of what's left in his pickup. Last time DH and I tried to ask him what his plan was, he said "Don't worry about it, I have it under control." So I'm not asking any more. The apartments will probably start eviction proceedings by the 2nd or 3rd week in May, then they will put all his stuff out on the street at which point I will have him put it in storage and he will be living in his truck. I know that his truck insurance draft bounced, so he has no car insurance, but I'm not paying it. I've told him of places that I know are hiring, but he doesn't do anything about it, so I don't know what he's thinking. My guess is that he's thinking when he gets evicted we will let him move home, but that's not happening. Fun times ahead.

Rene, I love your cute little puppies w/ their waggin tails! Good luck w/ Drew, stick to your guns on this one. You know it will be hard but you can do it!
Debi, sorry to hear about your dad. I can't even think of anything happening to my parents at this point. They are just way too young! Of course, I don't know that any of us are ever "ready" to lose a parent.

Thanks, dachshunds are just so great. They have such wonderful personalities, but I may be a bit biased. :)
I will stick to my guns. He had told me he was coming over today to see me, but he didn't. Not surprised since I read on his FB that he was out till 1 last night playing beer pong. Probably wasn't feeling to well, ya think? I used to talk to him about that kind of thing and gripe, but now I just ignore it. He know's how I feel about it, and he doesn't listen to my warnings, so I figure I might as well shut up. It only ends up upsetting me when the conversation doesn't go the way I want it to.
