It's been a while since I played at this - so let's have it go again!
If I choose your suggestion, you get the finished kit along with others whose suggestions I choose.
Let's start with a color scheme! Can we go something nice and summery but not vivid brilliant bright? Some brights and muted colors together would be good. Show me your favorite summer shirt or something like that! If I choose it, you'll be guaranteed to have a kit to scrap yourself in, lol!

Well, I know you liked this one before and since I think it is really summery:

Funny you should say that... yesterday I was wearing my favorite shirt and it crossed my mind that I should take a picture of it for a swatch! Of course I never got around to it
Here's one I already had made. Now I'll go check out my closet (its not very exciting in there though)

Well alright then! I am going to have to keep using these instead of asking for more color schemes next time; I'll just keep pulling from this thread.
Looks like a beautiful dress, Caro!
Lisa I do still like that flower one; the only reason I haven't chosen it before - well, there are two reasons - one is the green looks a little dark when it's brought out bigger, (but I could change that and go a smidge lighter) and the other one is I'd be tempted to copy those adorable flowers! So the point is I'm glad you keep posting it to remind me and I will get to it if I don't pick it right now.
I'm also nuts over Amanda's first one, and Michelle's third one, and Muriel's, and now Carolyn's, so eek! Okay, okay, must pick, must pick, must pick......for the first, anyway, I think I will probably use them all which means I have my work cut out for me over the next few weeks, eh?
Elisabeth
05-01-2009, 02:14 PM
So I'm going with this one of Michelle's first. I'd like to keep the percentages somewhat close to the example, meaning the dark color would be too overpowering for a background or large mat. But here we go!

what about the two aqua's with a rippley gradient effect. That yellow would look really good with some white swirly's in it maybe looking like they are coming out of the corners.

What about a hand made look to a paper .... white background with flecks of the really dark red .....

Well I'm jumping the gun here but I'm going to suggest an element even though the papers are not all the way done...
The inspiration photo with it's mosaic style grabs me with the desire for a mosaic tile mat, with an irregular shape to the individual tiles and thus an irregular edge line to the mat (i.e. not straight). Perhaps made up of all the different papers in the kit and maybe a flower image interspersed here and there.

05-02-2009, 03:11 AM
Or the orangey colour with a colour wash effect in a paler shade (or a pale colour with a darker wash over) but streaky like someone has dragged a paint brush over it?
Also love the hand-made paper ideas.
Or a linen-look textured paper in any colour?

Hey all, I didn't get a chance to work on this last night because I had to be up early this morning - in a bit I'm headed out to the Atlanta crop for the day. 05-02-2009, 08:10 PM
The stripe! Look at the stripes made of yellow, turquoise, and the darker color! I think it would be neat to have a striped pattern like that! You could use the orange color instead of the darker color and grungy it up a bit!
Elisabeth
05-02-2009, 09:32 PM
Well naturally I didn't get anything done at the crop today. Why we call them crops I hardly can guess. Shouldn't they be called CHATS?
Tracy's home is on a lake in a wooded area so we had a nice photo walk. And we did the speed scrap which was a live chat - some of you were there.
But I nearly hyperventilated when Sharon was going through her photos and said, "I want to work on a layout and get it done today" - and I said, "Good Luck", and Liz said, "Today?" as though astonished. I mean that just ought to be on a tee shirt as a cartoon.
But it's back to business now, except I have more suggestions to read!
Elisabeth
05-02-2009, 10:29 PM
Here is the mosaic bg and the "dirty white" bg. I had every intention of making it a grunged white with colors, until I slapped on the orange to mostly erase, and liked it like this. If y'all prefer a white, I can redo. I like the idea of a white bg too. But if not, I can add a good deal of white into the elements to tone down the brights.

Hmmm.... seems like a lot of the yellow, but probably just me. That is why you are the designer! LOL
I guess we need to start thinking elements. I'm seeing a circle frame, more a stamp than a paper frame that mimics the circles of that last BG. A ribbony sort of thing that mimics the striped section too, it kind of reminds me of threaded ribbon with the blocks of color. I hope these are making sense.

it needs some type of bird or butterfly, but not a dainty butterfly that would be TOO elegant for this kit. (long pause).......
I just went and google animals of the mediterranean, because Carolyn is right, it does have that feel to it, and I got alot of large animals that would NOT go with this kit, but the bird (it was little and blue) and a TURTLE. I like the idea of a turtle.

Love the mosaic background! So many good ideas here. How about some sort of stamped element cluster using the circles that you used on the mosiac BG. They are cool. And to go with the mosaic feel, a line of small frames each in different colors that are not square... well squarish, 4 sided, but skewed so they are irregular shaped. Does that make any sense at all?

Elisabeth
05-03-2009, 10:23 PM
Okay, before I moved on to the "real" elements - I wanted to get that white "background" in there, and I did it by making a scalloped near-to-full-size mat. Maria wanted a scallop, so here it is. Now you can tell we will be moving away from the 'too much yellow' it looked like with the two yellow bgs.
I have plenty of other choices - I like the mediterranean ideas too, so let me see if I can cook up another element tonight!

Well I've been packing pretty studiously all day every day, so that's why I'm pretty scarce here. I could have finished this kit three times by now, and I was going to last night, then I discovered I needed to do the scanning. I have gotten a lot packed but there is still a lot to go, and I'm doing it by myself so it's hard. As I was putting this in the store, it occurred to me that it would go with beach photos too. Thanks for the kudos; glad you like!
I was going to use this for bingo prize next week but I got sneaky and finished another kit behind your backs, hee hee hee...
